First Post: Friday

Hey everyone. Thanks for participating in a lively night of comments. Looks like the Tiger Talk/ESPN game combo works for a lot of HOTTIES, so we'll keep doing it that way.

Special thanks to Chip Chip for providing me a key aural hookup. Your hustle is (now) noted and appreciated.

Beatles: Rock Band is great. Best Rock & Roll band ever? I'd have to say yes. Think about all the different kinds of songs they made. Many of them were excellent. Truly amazing what they accomplished in a relatively short period of time.

Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

DL, I told a story about you, the great Jong-Il Kim, in yesterday's early threads.

I laughed about the old days ... when you were an electrician and we watched "WarGames" together. Sorry I didn't return your calls. Pyongyang isn't my kind of town.

No offense.

JayGT - that was indeed a very interesting story about the old days. I couldn't tell if it was entirely fiction or fiction based on fact. I was thinking pure fiction but you were convincing enough I began to wonder if you and DL were childhood buddies.

Since no one knows what each other looks like, we should have a Hotties call. When you know you are in the vicinity of a Hotties tailgate, yell "HOTTIES HOOOOOO!" (that's an elongated "ho", not an elongated "hoo" that would sound like "who". It sounds like "hoe", ho.) The Hotties have to answer "HOTTIES HEEEEEEEEERE!" (that's an elongated "here", not an elongated "heere"...which I guess would sound the same, ho).

Dig?

And a tip o' the fedora to the HOTTIES. Our 'net traffic always spikes during the 9:00 hour.

Two housekeeping matters:

1. 9:05 is JGT's normal slot. We had to accomodate another guest last week, and figured JGT could use the extra sleep.

2. I trust there were no static issues today?

Its proprietor, Orson Swindle (whose real name is Spencer Hall & he blogs for the Sporting News) is a guy who could write for SNL. No exaggeration. He's a Florida grad, and Big Snacks, I must come clean here. It was he who first said "Tim Tebow is a baby rhino with a chainsaw for a d*ck."

J.Kev - I agree with you wholeheartedly. Maybe I'll wear the refrigerator magnet I almost bought for 2.0 yesterday: "I hate stupid people."

You must remember, these are ACC people, they are just wholly ignorant.

I've said it before J Kev, I told my future wife people would be SUPER po'd if I dare schedule a wedding on a gameday Saturday in the fall.

I've been in weddings on back to back UGA/UT weekends. Living in TN, it angered a lot of people. That game doesn't matter that much to me, but it coincided with Auburn/Vandy in 2007 and Auburn/Arkansas last year so I had to miss parts of both games and get all dressed up.

Haven't these people heard of June brides? There is a reason for it. No sports, so we guys need something else to do.

I could have gotten out of it if I told MrsTHT that I was going to the game. But 3 consecutive weekend drives to AU might have gotten the best of me, so I am staying home this weekend. I have no doubt my angst will show. I hope I don't blurt out, "Just marry 'em *%^(&**)!!!!" as soon as the ceremony starts.

But RK, you DIDN'T have to miss any of those games. You are perfectly justified, as a Southern man, in telling such people to pound sand.

When my youngest sister got married, she and her husband (both Auburn alumni) scheduled it for a bye weekend. Why?

Because they wanted people to come.

Take a stand for all that is good, right and sacred. Boycott fall Saturday weddings.

our company just scheduled a new employee welcome get together for SATURDAY evening Nov 7. Someone will have to work and miss the party

The boss asked me if I was going to be "social Mr/Mrs THT and attend or unsocial THT and volunteer to work".

I told him that I do NOT volunteer to work ANY Saturday during football season, but that I would send "holographic THT" to the party. He obviously is unaware that OK/Nebraska and LSU@UA-T are that weekend. AU's HC game will undoubtedly kick off at 2 pm ET, so that should be ok.

If you are getting married on a football Saturday, you better do it in your team's stadium or something.

A wedding of a good friend kept me from being in the stands during the '06 Georgia game. That is the only game I have missed due to a wedding.

On the Thunder and Lightning nickname: so who was the first tandem to be called that? I must admit Reggie Bush and Lendale White were the first tandem I heard called that. Who is the original?

We braved the Birmingham weather in August just to make sure we didn't interfere with the Auburn football schedule. We even made it back in time from the honeymoon to catch the first game.

Funny stuff today! Stupid work is keeping me from posting. Another trip to ATL this weekend to work a show. I'll have to watch AU on tv. Sorry to miss all the tailgating excitement! Any similar plans for next week? I will definitely be attending the WVU game. Btw, got caught in GT/Clemson traffic in ATL yesterday - no fun.

I don't know about Thunder & Lightning, but there was Mr Inside and Mr Outside in the '40s at Army. Glenn Davis and Doc Blanchard, but I dont' remember who was which or which was whom

Oh yeah, forgot to mention - I will be skipping my employee's wedding to go to the WVU game next week. As j-z suggested, I got her a nice gift, so hopefully she won't try to drown me in a chocolate vat or anything.

i actually have a friend who is getting married the day of the UT/ALA & AU/LSU games here in knoxville, but get this, the time of their wedding is TBA.

if UT/BAMA is a 3:30 ET start, they are getting married at 2 followed by a tailgate/game watching party.

the UT game is in Tuscaloosa so they're good there. it was actually the fiance's idea. if you're going to do it in the fall that's the way to do it.

I hope so THT! Have I mentioned that she's Italian and feisty as hell? I'm really hoping she likes the gift!

WERK, I may have to check that out. I'll probably be playing some Black Crowes on the way to ATL today.

I know a couple who got married at half time of the UT/Bama game.

They walked out on the patio, the preacher married them, they ate some cake, went back in and watched the 2nd half then left for their honeymoon.
