Herring gets the nod

Thanks to Texas Lolo, one of the very first HOTTIES, for passing this nugget along:

Seahawks promote Will Herring to starting linebacker spot

Will Herring took an unconventional path from high-school option quarterback to college safety to NFL linebacker. He'll replace injured Leroy Hill on Sunday against the 49ers.

By Percy Allen
Seattle Times staff reporter

Will Herring made a name for himself as a special-teams maniac since the Seahawks selected him in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL draft.

When you're a backup linebacker, you get work any way you can.

Playing on punts, punt returns, kickoffs and kickoff returns is hard work, but has paid big dividends. It gave Herring a chance to hone his defensive skills.

"I've come a long ways in a short time," said Herring, a three-year starting quarterback at Opelika High School in Alabama and a three-year starting free safety at Auburn.

What to eat tonight in Auburn?

3:50 PM

Scottie - me? I'd just stay home and eat cereal. It's a lot cheaper.

IV - 2.0 was HABOTNing right in the middle of what she claimed was a "study group". They must have been taking a break.

I ate lunch with a friend in Raleigh today at Big Ed's. It was soooo good.

And since MrsTHT wasn't there, I didn't have to put anything green on my plate. I had chicken & dumplings, homemade biscuits, sweet corn, and real mashed taters with gravy, washed down with sweet tea and polished off with some nanner puddin'.

It was absolutely DEEEEElicious!!!

3:55 PM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

well, i think i'll go with local wing establishment. they've got a few nice tv's at the bar. i'm out till later.

enjoy your Lucky Charms!!!!!

Good grief, THT! How can you even move your fingers on the keyboard after that? Of course, you were gone for a while. Maybe there was a nap involved.

Probably a good choice, Scottie. Anybody have any thoughts on GT/Miami tonight?

3:58 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I take about 5 or 6 naps/year and today wasn't the time for one. But it's been 4 1/2 hours and I'm getting reeeally hungry. I don't know what MrsTHT has in mind for dinner tonight, but a bowl or two of cereal shouldn't get in the way.

Sensi..I go to Moe's SW grill for a decent, quick meal when baching-it. Is Chuck's BBQ still around?

J-Zhag...I've found that the gallon of diesel starts better when topped off and fused with a gasoline trail leading upwind. Couches, Bammers and Gaytors don't stand a chance

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

GT vs Miami... good question. I don't know. I sort of hope GT puts a whuppin on them, but I really don't have any idea how it's going to play out.

It's actually and 80/20 mix. It goes up real pretty.

4:05 PM

I see a Clempsun game scenerio. Can GT throw enuff to keep Miami backed up and then run? Clemson moved up in the second half and stuffed GT until GT finally threw a deep pass to seal the win.

Haven't seen enough of the Miami offense to have an opinion vs the GT D.

I'm just real happy to have some college football tonight. Whatever happened to those Tuesday night games? Yes, they may have been MAC or Conf-USA games, but any college football is better than no college football.

4:10 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Not only will I miss Monk tomorrow night whilst driving hundreds of miles, but I'll also miss Boise State @ Fresno State. That's a huge game for that conference. And it's not on that horrid blue carpet.

I still want Miami to lose most games. I still can't get over the numerous self-aggrandizing acts by the players that were not only allowed, but cheered by their folks.

Miami started swagger. If you gotta have swagger in order to be good, then you are an emotionally weak fool that can easily be lead astray.

Sensi,
We're taking Tyler to the new restaurant that went in where Johnny Carinos used to be on College Street. It is supposed to be good. Or you could go to my favorite, Brick Oven. I'm hungry, that must mean I am getting well!

THT...Ms Hoopie is walking through during the Boise St/Oregon game, looks quickly at the tube and says: "Why is there only one team on the field?"

I get a headache trying to watch BSt at home.

4:19 PM

And Scottie B - no Hooters.

4:20 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

cincy - welcome back with your beautiful fingers and toes!

on prior thread were you talking about KO returns? I can't remember us having but one punt return. I haven't paid that much attention, but either the opponents kicks are too high and short for our returner to have a chance, or our blockers are doing a terrible job of keeping coverage away from our returner. I only remember one punt we actually had a chance to return. Demond got about 8 or 10 yards, I think.

4:22 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I also haven't paid much attention to our KO returns, other than to notice they aren't great.

And our KO coverage has been woeful. It's like they think it's two hand tag instead of tackle.

4:23 PM

THT...that sched is ESPN-centric. It doesn't include the CBS or NBC games or the ones sold to FSN, etc. Does Fox do regular season CFB games?

Tony's relocated to the old Green Lantern location on the Troy Highway.

It is open, but struggling.

On the positive side, I have obtained the masterpiece "Round to Italy" and a pepperoni, plus the crowd favorite "Greek Salad for One (which actually feeds 4)."

WOW!!! A very loud, house shaking noise going on up in here. This can only be one of two things: 1) my future 4* is upstairs and just jumped off of something high (high = elevation, nothing else) again, or 2) more thunderstorms. Given that his mother is with him and taking into consideration the weather of the day, I believe it's likely that option 2 is the culprit.
