Hey everyone. I will be doing my weekly segment on SuperSport 930 out of Jackson, Miss., in a bit. That extravaganza will begin around 9:30 a.m. CDT.

We'll be talkin' Auburn and other stuff. You know how it goes.

Please enjoy.

UPDATE: It appears the stream is off at the moment. Let me see if I can get them to repair it.

Sorry to miss the campfire last night. Son had baseball practice and daughter had gymnastics. I did catch some of Tiger Talk while driving the taxi, though.

I heard the "Adam Wins" guy pick TN over AU by 3 this morning...scumbag. He also picked UGA over LSU by 17.

Last thing, for any baseball fans: I was reading an article about the Tigers in SI. If they make it into the play-offs, I think I'm going to pull for them, since the Braves are out. The people in Detroit need something positive (although I'd say moving away from there would be a bigger positive than a World Series victory). Might be my first time pulling for the Tigers since they were the Montgomery Rebels parent club. Anybody remember Whitaker and Trammell on the Rebels?

10:29 AM

Scott C- That was a good article on Detroit and also the fact that they are staying in that house to get a feeling of what it is like to live in Detroit right now.

Is there really a marketing strategy for cornhole? It's caught on mostly by word of mouth/tailgating exposure. I've never seen an ad or commercial for it.

Peter- Due to Billy Mays untimely death, the ad will never see the light of day.

10:33 AM

I have seen more "Baggo" boards than "Cornhole" boards. I think maybe the "Baggo" people saw an opportunity to get rid of a terrible name and capitalize on a good product.

10:34 AM
Blogger Scott Chocolate said...

Not that "Baggo" is that much better of a name, particularly when written in the same sentence with "Cornhole".

baggo is dumb. it sounds like a cheap plastic childrens game, not something sturdy enough for a tailgate.

It's called cornhole because you put the bag of corn in the hole. It makes sense.

I still think the best cornhole boards are made in someone's garage or woodshop. I've seen a lot of those mass-produced boards, and I don't like any of them.

Well the analyst on NBC is got some splainin' to do tomorrow. He was predicting a Chicago Olympics this morning.

10:47 AM
Blogger cincytiger said...

Hey SC,
You may see more Baggo boards down here, but in the land where cornhole began, Cincinnati, you see no Baggo boards. Baggo is an imitator. Cornhole is the best.

Peter,
I agree - the best boards are the ones that are homemade. In Cincy, they had some pretty fancy ones. Some opened up and had a cooler inside!

10:55 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Chicago is an awful place with few redeeming features for a Summer Olympics. This would have been an American economic fiasco with soe nasty politics.

Rio will get it. PC ideology says that it's time for South Smerica to get an Olympics.

10:55 AM
Blogger Scott Chocolate said...

PF, I agree that the best CH boards are probably the homemade ones. I'm just saying that whoever makes Baggo is capitalizing on the idea. You're not going to have much success selling a game to the masses with a name that sounds dirty. The Baggo folks were also smart enough to make the game boards customizable (I've even seen an AU one) and very portable.

10:57 AM

hi ya Eddie. Comcast guy came out and fixed internet. however, he said i have a computer problem. no internet at the crib still. sux. moving on....

looks like we're still on point to tailgate at Calhoun's on the river tomorrow. the AU Alumni Association is doing a thing there too. i know J-Z will be attending that.

there is not a large area to put up tents so i will have to get out pretty early to make sure we don't get bumped. any and all hotties are welcome to join us.

Blogger cincytiger said...

Scottie,
I'm so jealous! Have a great time.

11:00 AM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Wow, I had never heard of Baggo. I just looked them up, and I'd say I nailed it based strictly upon the name. Those things are terrible, and not any cheaper than a solid wood official size cornhole board.

11:00 AM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

...and I doubt you see more of them in the South. Their collegiate offering is mostly midwestern schools.

11:02 AM

Success is in the google results. Less than 100k for baggo. ~1MM for cornhole.

Eddie....read the 4 prognostications at your site....nice job. Seems that almost every prediction around the interwebs see the game happening very similar. Can't remember when I've seen such consistency when predicting a close game...and everyone is picking the dog to win.

I originally thought this to be a tossup, but didn't realize that the LB and his backup were out for the game. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Mr. Isom in the game for AU.

Gonna have to agree with the masses. AU--mid 20's and UT--high teens.

My family is from Centre, which is in northeast Alabama in Cherokee County.

My mama's family were farmers who grew their own vegetables, raised their own chickens, and swapped for other meats. My grandfather dabbled in plumbing as well once that became in vogue.

My dad's father died when my dad was 5. My grandmother was the town librarian, and raised three children through the teeth of the Depression on her own.

For both sides of my family, beans, onions, cornbread, greens and the like made a great meal.

Who is this "peter" you are talking to, cincy?

Harrison - for the last time, we just got our words mixed up. You definition of "fly" is different than mine. Fly can also describe something that falls incredibly fast, you know. As long as it has rotor blades or wings or something like that, if an object is not touching the ground, it is technically flying. I am an aerospace engineer, trust me on this.
