First post: Tuesday of Week Five
Hey everyone. Thanks for being patient yesterday as I worked through my Internet issues. We had a great traffic day -- three of the Advertiser's top 5 web elements were Auburn-related. Thanks for reading!
How did you like the "look ahead" to Tennessee? Learn anything from that?

TODAY'S SCHEDULE
Small change in schedule at Auburn. They have aborted the idea of getting players right after Chizik's presser, so we may have a better chance of getting a larger group of players around 1 p.m.
What does that mean to you? Not much. I'll be BLOGGIN FOR YOUR NOGGIN as expected at 11:30. Then I'm eating lunch. Then I'm doing player interviews. Then I'm posting information gleaned from player interviews. Then I'm going to write for the newspaper. I plan to have a video up at some point. That'll be TBA until I see how these early-afternoon interviews go.
Here's what the next few days look like. All times are CDT:
Tue., Sept. 29, 4:30 p.m. (Chizik presser at 11:30 a.m.; some players available at 1 p.m.)
Wed., Sept. 30, 4:30 p.m.
Thu., Oct. 1, 4:30 p.m. (Tiger Talk at 7 p.m.)
Fri., Oct. 2, OFF
Sat., Oct. 3, at Tennessee, 6:45 p.m. (ESPN)
Sun., Oct. 4, 5 p.m.
Mon., Oct. 5, OFF
Tue., Oct. 6, 4:30 p.m. (Chizik presser at 11:30 a.m.; some players available at 11:50 a.m.)

Uno?
Tell Chiz at the presser today that I really really want us to win this week.
That is all.
BEAT TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!
We all hate Tennessee for good reason.
What's the odds that the 3 first posters are either from Tennessee or live there....Beat the Vols!
WERK, that Wendy's story posted just before the new thread was hilarious!!!

Sorry for the repost, but I wanted to reshare E Bro's blog post...
What's Next?
Super-sized lady and vol fan kinda goes together doesn't it?
I can't be too mean, my wife is a UT grad.
I strike that comment. I know many UT Grads. It's wrong to say.
Thanks, Aero!
UT grad and typical UT fan are two completely differen things.
RK- Did you end up buying tickets for the game?
Not yet...I'm being stupid and waiting until I find someone who just has to get rid of their tickets.
I'm trying to keep money aside to pick up Iron Bowl tickets.
RK, i think you'll be fine picking up tickets here.
Anytime, benevolent dictator.
--------
WDE. Beat the fighting pumpkins.
Beat'em
Sup Hotties? Norm took a HABOTN break over the weekend and just did family stuff. I'm back in the fold now. I'm sure you've all offered your thoughts elsewhere, but what's the general feeling for the weekend? I have a pretty positive outlook on the game. Except the blasted Special Teams debacles.
And while you are beatin' 'em, make 'em put on some shirts!
i'm extremely anxious/nervous/excited b/c i want to beat them so bad. having to live here and deal with all their mess just grates on my nerves. regardless of our 4 straight victories over UT i still get so much grief. bombs away Gus!!!!!!! run it up. leave no doubt!
I'm with Scottie on this one.
here's a local piece on our boy TROOPER.

Norm!!
+ 1 for Scottie. I currently am not living in the TN, but having lived there for 14 years prior to moving to ATL, I have a deep seated grudge against UT fans. Apologies to my younger sister, she knows not what she does.
I love the confidence the HOTTIES have in our boys as they prepare to go to ObKnoxville.
I can't say I am Sensian in my doubts, but questions linger whether we're ready for this.
I presume they try to make Chris Todd beat them, and we try to make Jonathan Crompton beat us. If it were in Auburn, it would be a no-brainer for me, but for the likes of some youngsters who have played well thus far, this will be an entirely different animal.
I guess I need to gulp some Coosa-Aid.
i'm a nervous wreck Jet. don't let my big talk fool ya. ;)
scottie and rk are on track with their down home hate. living there is tough. RK, I too may be trying to pick up a single on game day. trying to save fundage and all that.
i'm a little bummed the boat we were planning on getting didn't materialize. sorry JG.
my plan now is to park & tailgate down by Calhoun's on the water (unless we get lucky & find a grassy area in the center of campus).
if you're not familiar with campus, be prepared to pay $20-$30 to park somewhat close or be willing to park downtown and walk for 20 minutes to get to the stadium.
Gulp it down Jet - it tastes gooood!
Eddie - good write-up. I guess I should address that to your brother, but you posted it.
So do ya'll think we score in the 60s this week, or just merely in 50s?
;)
I will say this: if we play in the special teams like we did against Ball State, we will get sauteed.
Perhaps until they play better, the special teams must ride the short bus to the games.
AU 37 - UT 34
If we allow the pathetic UT offense to score 34 points, I will be ashamed.
I see this more of a 28-17 win for Auburn. It's back and forth early and we pull away late.
I say at least 10 of those 34 predicted points are a direct result of AU Special Teams flubs and/or UT Defensive scores.
Here's my quick thoughts. We are a better football team and if we don't blow our own foot off, we should be fine.
Special teams and defense are irrelevant as long as the offense scores a TD every time it gets the ball.
Jet - "I can't say I am Sensian in my doubts, but questions linger whether we're ready for this."
Awesome.
The comments to the paper could have come straight from HABOTN ville.
I don't care if it is coaching or what ever the special team play has got to be better if Auburn is to win. This has only been said 1000 times and I am sure the coaches know this. But no improvement over 4 games is very disconcerning.
Pat Dye didn't even list us in the top 25 on his ballot. I guess he's doing it because we don't shut out people the way they did back in the good ole days. The old "got to play defense" mentality.
His name should be removed from the field and he should be banned from the stadium until he gets on the Gus Bus.
Well if it's very disconcerning then we should have nothing to worry about. ;) I know what you meant.
I think we'll be better. We have to be. Besides road games bring about another point of focus. This should be one of the cleanest games we have played yet.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Coosa- Dye doesn't think we are man enough :)!
Sensi, you are no longer invited to my BEAT TENNESSEE tailgate party! :(
My prediction, and then I must go:
AU - 58-28.
TN runs 2 kickoffs back for TDs, and has an 8 yrd drive for another after recovering a fumbled punt. There is much weeping and gnashing of teeth on the HABOTN afterward, and most of the Hotties ignore the 58 points.
A good day to all.
Kiffin was asked if his confidence in the passing game was any higher than a week ago. His answer: No.
"We threw 26 times in the first half (against Ohio), we threw seven times in the third quarter and once in the fourth quarter and went oh-for-1. So I think that would tell you I don't know that I feel any better off than I did a week ago.''
:)
Sensi, I have you and your naysaying figured out. I don't think UT's defense is THAT good. I think our offense is better than Florida's and will give them different match-up problems. There, I said it.
Tennessee missing Nick Reveiz is huge for us. He was the QB and leader of the defense, even more so than Berry. You have to imagine we are going to be seeing some screens, maybe even a ...... middle screen????
On the 29th Day of September year two thousand and nine, Sean stated that Auburn's offense was better than superman's, I mean, Florida's offense.
That's a pretty bold statement right there Sean. I'm not willing to say that just yet.
Eddie, this weekend will go a long way in proving/disproving that statement.
Sean- I agree there and I hope to God you are right.
If you think about it though, our WRs look much better than UF's so far. I like the Tate/McCalebb combo just as much as the Demps/Rainey. The only thing they have better is Tebow being Tebow in the running game.
Say what you want about us not playing anyone, it's not like UF has played a bunch of world beaters either.
bit of trivia......
Coach Bill Battle was the UT coach in the early 70's and his niece was my roomate at Auburn in those days. Smart girl to choose Auburn over UT!!!!
Can't remember the year or the score but we went to the game in Knoxville that year.
I remember we won but it was a very low scoring game that day.
I remember that Bill Battle was a very nice and cordial man, very pleasant to talk with.
I remember that Knoxville was very hilly and rolling.
I remember that it was loud and the UT fans were obnoxious.
Sorry, Scottie.
I gotta go with my gut.
Again, I hope I am dead wrong.
Sensi, your gut was wrong last week!
Two weeks ago rather...
how about we all just stay away from Sensi's gut. ha.
For those that have never read the lyrics of Rocky Top, please do:
Wish that I was on ole rocky top,
Down in the tennessee hills.
Aint no smoggy smoke on rocky top,
Aint no telephone bills.
Once there was a girl on rocky top,
Half bear the other half cat.
Wild as a mink, sweet as soda pop,
I still dream about that.
Rocky top, youll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.
Once two strangers climbed on rocky top,
Lookin for a moonshine still.
Strangers aint come back from rocky top,
Guess they never will.
Corn wont grow at all on rocky top,
Dirts too rocky by far.
Thats why all the folks on rocky top
Get their corn from a jar.
Rocky top, youll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.
Now Ive had years of cramped up city life,
Trapped like a duck in a pen.
Now all I know is its a pity life
Cant be simple again.
Rocky top, youll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.
That's your humor of the day.
Jay g, shoot me that xbox tag ya got again, man. Took a few days to get the time to do all that.
well Sensi, Tennessee beat writer Mike Griffith agrees with you. he's picking a TENNESSEE VICTORY.
The Sean has spoken!

Why would you vote for PSU 4 spots ahead of Iowa AFTER it lost at home to Iowa?
Do you watch anything other than SEC football?
Looking at your blog, it seems you are more of a fan than a journalist and as such, any voting privileges you have should be revoked.
People like you are what makes the BCS suck.
Please either pay attention to the sport in which you have an influence (i.e. take your job seriously) or find another job.
I see that you have been deleting comments here regularly, so I suspect that you aren't one much for free speech either.
Eddie, i have alternate lyrics to Rocky Top but i can't post them here.
Sensi is just playing the odds. If he keeps picking against Auburn, one day he will be right, want he?????? :)
Hey, i'm all about some moonshine. Although i'll have to say if i had to pick a moonshine song as my "fight song" it'd be "Where the devil don't stay".
I have gone back to the chalk board with my research and have decided to adjust my pick based on the following:
Tennessee has looked good in one win over a bad opponent, mediocre in another over a mediocre opponent, bad in one loss (UCLA), and promising in another (Florida). Tennessee’s passing offense is just not good but they have an adequate enough running game. Neither team has a real edge in special teams from what I can see. This Vols defense will be the best Auburn has seen so far, but they can't do it alone. In the end, I think Auburn can wear them down in the fourth quarter.
Auburn 24
Tennessee 20
ikarl67- Take your trash somewhere else. Jay G is not the one deleting comments here, it's the individuals that do it. You are what make fans delusional, so take your idiocy somewhere else. Jay G is nowhere close to a fan of Auburn. He holds true to his journalistic principles. How dare you come on this blog and insult him. If you have issues, be man and email them to him. He will respond.
Sensi- Too late, you can't change due to peer pressure you bamer. Stay with UT!!!!
man, that tailgate invite must be pretty powerful, eh?
The AP poll has ZERO influence in the BCS. Just sayin.' If you're going to criticize someone make sure you know what the heck you're talking about.
Not changing due to "peer pressure" or anything other than I looked at it all again and realized that Auburn should win this for the reasons I posted.
That said, I'm not even going to be able to watch this one. We are visiting the ailing father in law this weekend and he doesn't do cable.
War Eagle and be safe for those traveling to Knoxville.
Thanks and War Eagle, Sensi!
By the way, here's hoping our Titans can lock one down this weekend!
ikarl67 you have a right to your opinion but I hope you wrote all the other sportswriters about you concern with Penn St and Iowa. If not take your opinion on the road to Iowa and don't come back.
I think I will have to text Sensi false scores from Rocky Top :)!
The key to this game is minimizing the number of times the UT band plays Rocky Top. If we keep it under 50, we got a chance :)!
Coosa,
If we score 58, I hope you send me a keg of Coosa-Aid to the Hangar.
SEC stats, for anyone who is interested. J-Z, you know you want to look.
Stats
Eddie...
That reminds of a classic quote from former Robert E. Lee and Opelika head coach (and ex-AU center) Spence McCracken who said before his team played Lectron Williams and Vigor. When asked if he was worried about Lectron he said, "I'm more worried about the tubas. 'Cause if the tubas are playin', we're getting our @$$ kicked."
I'll bet Sensi that you will get many texts if it is good news for Auburn
and silence if UT is, (I hate to even print it), doing well!
PS Hope your father-in-law's health will improve..
The AP does have an influence, but granted not a direct one.
I post here so all of the fans of this blogger could see how much he really does not pay attention to college football.
I am sure the author of the blog is well aware of his deficiencies.
ik,
You opinion is noted. Don't feel that you have to stick around.
And let me amend, Mr. Tate put Iowa 11 spots below PSU!
And Mr. "DiggerforAU" , it wont take me long to write the other sportswriters in the country as there were only 2 that ranked Iowa less than PSU.
Mr. Tate is just the most egregious offender.
who cares about the freakin' polls anwyays. geez.
just beat the **** outta UT!
War Eagle, scottie. Beat UT!
ikarl67- It is one thing to be upset with the way he ranked some teams, especially Iowa (I posted that same question in the poll thread), but to call him out in a mad man rant is not what this blogger community is about. You called him a fan, which if he was, and I'm assuming you believe him to have been an Auburn fan (maybe i'm wrong), then why did it take him just this week to have Auburn ranked? You sound like a blabbering madman. Also, the AP does not have influence over the BCS. That is BS and you know it.
I'm with Eddie, your opinion has been duly noted. This is an Auburn blog, not an AP ballot review session. Move along.
JayG-Off topic, but my knology was terribly slow at home. I changed yesterday to CHarter. MUCH faster. 20mg down, 2mg up. Smokes knology.
Dear ikarl67,
You're an idiot.
Love,
Steve
is that a tennessee moonshine recipe? if so, would someone translate that asap!
This blog wouldn't be the same without Feng and his peeps.
ik there were several of the regulars that questioned Jay on that and some other calls. Like you he has an opinion and because it doesn't agree with yours does not mean he does not take his vote seriously. I take issue with most ap voters but it doesn't make them wrong.
ikarl,
I hope you can figure out that this is an Auburn blog, right?
Auburn is UNRANKED while going 4-0 against more decent competition than what tOSUck, Penn istate, lOle Miss, choklahoma, nebraska and LOLifornia have faced.
And here you are whining about Iowa that is ranked #13?
I can't get over the irony of that. On top of that what I find funny is you whining about 'deleted posts'.
Translation of Feng's message.
Feng's AP Ballot
1. Tim Tebow, who healed himself by touching the hem of his own jersey.
2. Boom! Just watch out. We're testing missiles just like Ijustmetadouchebag
3. Pyongyang Tech
4. Penn State, that Joepa is such a card.
5. Iowa, stick a corncob in your ear and play Cornhole, iKarl
6. FSU, we love Bobby Bowden
7. Cal
8. Oregon, love the old school unis
9. Miami
10. Va. Tech.
11. Ball State
12. AU
13. Arkansas
14. Tennessee
15. UAT
16. Washington
17. USC
18. Washington State
19. Tulane
20. Buffalo
21. Iowa State
22. Georgia
23. Oklahoma State
24. Houston
25. (tie) Mississippi State
25. (tie) La. Tech
25. (tie) West Virginia
I don't get the childish tantrum by iKarl. I am not aware of the rule that you always have to put a team ahead of someone they beat. The idea is to rank how good teams are and not necessarily how good they are in head to head match ups against each other.
As for the, ooh, Jay deletes posts, if you had the brains to look at the message when a post is deleted, you might be able to figure out who deleted Einstein. Don't try ranking teams when you can't even read.
And no, Jay is not a fan and he does do his diligence in ranking teams. Sure, I disagree with some of his rankings, but there is no right answer. Think about it. Every week the rankings change. Nobody gets them right.
Please get a life. Pathetic children whining because they didn't get what they wanted isn't something new. Your obvious stupidity in the way you have done it is. You show a complete lack of knowledge of what is occurring here.
By the way, how do you feel about our special teams?
New thread!
