Thanks for keeping the faith.
it's not march. I don't watch that roundball stuff til then
pretty good early season matchup, I usually only watch basketball in person this time of year in good 'ol beard-eaves but this has captured my attention
so FSU has gone from 37th to top 10 recruiting class since Jimbo has taken over
i just think jimbo is going to have to win an ACC title in the next couple years to keep that job
Marcus Lattimore to commit to FSU next fellas
John Wall ABSOLUTE STUD
no way on Latt to F$U
heard it from Tricketts son...we shall see
from Scout:
Florida State No Interest
Dick Trickett, Mr.I Chase off solid linemen?
You dont think Lattimore likes Eddie Gran? and THT scout? cmon your better than this...
Lattimore's top 5
Oregon
Auburn
FSU
PSU
USCe
Scout lists AU, O, PSU, SC, GA, not FSU. He does have 1 official visit left.
our best recruiter with lattimore is dyer, michael really wants to play with marcus
Both have say Lattimore has FSU in top 5...
my source is pretty close to the fsu staff as well...just lookin out thats all
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Marcus-Lattimore-78023
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=66596&action=upsell&appRedirect=http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player%3frecruitId%3d66596
FSU is in his top 5, i just would have a hard time seeing it
Keep in mind they just hired Eddie Gran, nobody can test this man
but in the ESPN article talking about him eliminating UNC, it says he's been to Penn State and Auburn, has visits planned to Georgia and Oregon and they mention South Carolina, just no mention of FSU in this article
I wont say I told you so...well I probably will
eddie gran is a great coach and an even better recruiter, but Luper is not too shabby when it comes to recruiting either, I've enjoyed watching him recruit this year
With the new coaching staff recruiting is a whole new game at FSU. My money isn't on FSU, but I wouldn't count them out.
Marcus going to FSU wouldn't hurt my feelings too bad, one 5-star running back in a class is pretty good
I think Bowden has done to FSU what Spurrier did to UF and Schnellenberger (sp?) did for Miami.
Those programs were hardly anything before they got there (well, Florida had a little tradition), but now there's a solid base that act as a prompt for further greatness. FSU will be back at the top again at some point.
well i'm out....finals continue tomorrow!
Don't forget, Schnellenberger turned Louisville around, too...and has the greatest top 25s on EDSBS.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMdIHuzJRbw&feature=related
I can see Malzahn pulling this one next year.
About to get on the 767 bound for the ATL, then on to the Gump. I am ready to be home. Lord willin', in 12 hours, I'll be nappin' in my rack.
safe travels
Thanks, Snacks.
Jet-you been gone?

PF, you ok?
PF's just closing in on the big day.
Run PF....Run
LAST DAY OF WORK for 10 Days!!!!! PLEASE MAKE THIS DAY GO FAST!!!!!
congrats Eddie. may your days be merry & bright. :)
Thanks Scottie! You going to Tampa?
Goooooooood Morning Hotties, from the retirement community of Southern Pines. I don't get it, I really don't. There are probably 13,729 other communities to which I'd rather retire. But of course, it's a moot point since I won't get to retire.
Today and tomorrow are it, then I'll be on a boat!
Then it will be Christmas.
Then it will be New Year's Day with one last Auburn game to watch this season.
My condolences about the boat, Sean. I'm in Clark Howard's camp when it comes to boats.
Who is Clark Howard?
nope, my Tampa plans fell apart yesterday Eddie. i'm pretty bummed. the hotties will have to do it without me. :(
I just want to stop by and drop some names on you guys...
Tommy Tuberville
Terry Bowden
Tony Franklin
BC coaching situation
Turner Gill
My underwear.
5-19!
Sean - oh my. I'm appalled. You live in Atlanta!!!
http://clarkhoward.com
He's on the radio 1-4 pm but I obviously can't listen to that at work. However MrsTHT and I do watch... The Clark Howard Show on HLN
The best money-saving advice on the radio is now on TV! The Clark Howard Show airs on HLN Saturday and Sundays at 6am, noon and 4pm ET. We usually catch the 6am show.
Clark Howard had made so many millions that he retired at age 31. Anyone smart enough to do that is worth listening to, imo. He's also very frugal, which appeals a lot to MrsTHT. You ought to watch his show at least once, even if he doesn't like being on a cruise ship.
Alright, THT, will do. Did the checks make it to you yet?
UGA friend called talking about how he wants Tubs to be DC. He the proceeded to trash Muschamp (his own) and rave about Kirby Smart. I just don't get it. Anyways.....
On the ground in the Gump! A nap awaits.
I doubt Tubs would go to UGA, but here is why it would work:
UGA needs a good defensive leader/game planner
UGA doesn't need recruiting help
CMR needs a smart disciplinarian with moxy.
CMR and Tubs are friends and share a lot of philosophies.
Tubs could be the Mickey Andrews that CMR needs.
Why is it so popular for cfb fans to trash any ex-coaches that don't achieve legend status?
I guess when you see what they left behind or didn't leave behind when they leave it's easier to trash them.
Why is it some cfb fans get wonder why or get upset when people on the internet state their opinion even though sometimes it's negative? It just happens.
Actually 85% of posts on the internet are probably something negative, it's just how it is.
Or the short version of my answer...
"It's the internet."
To the team of last night
Good Game plan
Well executed
Made the 600 look easy.
Cincy I am so happy to hear about your Dad. I had triple by pass in 2003 not a fun trip. But it did wonders for me.
Ditto on what IV said about your good work THT.
One easy leason on "How to kill a thread"
Nuff said
RUmors abound of a Big TIME recruit sneaking in to visit this weekend. I am actually headed to Au today. Will sope out something form my sources.
wtc - I know of your disdain for recruiting, so don't feel compelled to scope anything out on our account.
on second thought, forget your disdain. Us Hotties want the scoop!!!
Auburn fans are heading to Tampa in droves is looks like. Apparently we have already sold our allotment of 11,000 tickets by more than 2,000 and that is still increasing. That is very good news for future bowls.
Good morning, diggerforAU. Thanks for your kind comments. My dad had CABG in 1986, 4 days before the Iron Bowl. He was not allowed to watch it. I sat in the room with him until I just couldn't stand it any longer. I found an empty hospital room and turned on the TV just in time to see Lawyer Tillman's TD run. My dad & I were both in B'ham for the '87 Iron Bowl, and we took THTjr in '88.
Eddie - and that doesn't even count the tickets sold for The OFFICIAL HABOTN SECTION!
I know. Wife and I still may attend. Everything up in the air, but not looking good at this point. I really would like to check the Outback Bowl off my list and this is the perfect time to do so. Oh well.
Unfortunately I checked the Outback Bowl off my list after the 1995 season.
I have never been to the Outback (or old Tangerine) bowl and am looking forward to being there. This matchup should be exciting and a good game to watch. WIN Tigers win.
i will not be able to check the Outback Bowl off my list this year. however, i will be there in spirit as i host a new year's bowl game party and dress out in all my bowl gear that i just ordered. :)
i will miss the HABOTN section. THT, u need a banner?
I wish wtc actually followed recruiting..
If he did...he'd be a fountain of information
a banner?
a WE ARE HABOTN banner....
i thought someone wanted one for the section. if so, i'll take care of it.
i think i will stay off the computer and tv all weekend. it will be too nauseating. Ingram looks like a lock.
that would be waaayyyy cool, ScottieB
THT, just checked with the bank, you should be receiving something today if you haven't already for the tickets
i want to do my part since i won't be there THT. i'll work you up something.
A HABOTN banner for the Outback would be very cool. Possibly "HABOTN, brought to you by Jay G. Tate"?
thanks, mytommyd. i assume it will look like junk mail, so I'll be paying close attention.
SteveFC - that sounds more like an airplane banner. We're looking for short & to the point. And did I say portable?
i was thinking more along the lines of a big 5x8 banner of JG's face in his Ukranian toboggan hat.
i keed.
THT..
You need to watch it all and enjoy it.
One other side note...
Rumors are that a few more coaches are looking to jump ship from Tennessee..
Wild Boyz Ed O and Lance Thompson are the two others that are rumored. When is all said and done it may just be the Lane and Monte show.
that would be hilarious, especially if it's unseasonably warm.
btw, SUH won the Lombari award
I was thinking this morning about a match-up between AU's 2004 team and UAT's current team. I say AU smacks 'em. Anybody else have thoughts on that?
It would be a helluva game Scott...
I'd be interested in the offensive and defensive stats of those teams.
First blush I would think that Auburn was probably a little better on offense and Alabama a little better on defense..but I have no stats to back that up.
AU's 2004 team could smack them up both sides of the head. 2004 AU vs 1992 UA-T would be a slobberknocker.
6+Beasley!!!
2004 AU led the nation in scoring defense, I think. Or really high on the list if not.
On Tiderinsider they've been discussing this team vs the 92 team.
On offense there is no question this team is better.
Defense is probably tilted a little toward the 92 team due to Curry and Copeland. If we had Hightower the entire year that would be a dead heat, IMO.
Overall I think this years' team would smack the 1992 team due to the average offense. Now I realize that we haven't won anything yet so that discussion is very premature.
I was lucky enough to be in school at UA in 1992. I think it was Southern Miss that we held under a yard per carry for an entire game.
And still only won 17-10...with a fake punt deciding the game.
Their 10 came off of our turnovers. The TD was a pick, blocked kick, or something like that and the three was a fumble in our territory.
UAT's 92 team was good at just finding a way to win. Copeland and Curry were two of the best DL that I have seen at Bama.
you know what would be cool? If the hottest Auburn blog on the net was turned into the hottest Alabama blog on the net, with reporting on Auburn sports by Jay G Tate. HABOTNWROASBJGT.
Actually, that wouldn't be cool at all.
what an absolutely horrid idea PF. i think you need some lunch homes.
What would you guys think of Tim Tebow as a college coach? Think he would be good at it?
statistically, no.
From Stewart Mandel's "Mailbag" on SI.com:
Did you hear about Alabama canceling classes for THREE DAYS for the national championship game? Doesn't this action by Alabama show the lie of administrators who argue against a playoff because it would cause students to miss too much class time? By my estimation a playoff would cause the football team (110 students) to miss four to six days. This action causes 30,000 students to miss three days. C'mon.
-- Robert, Gainesville, Fla.
There are any number of legitimate arguments the Bill Hancock-Ari Fleischer spin machine can make against a playoff. The purported academic effect is not one of them. In fact, it's the single most hypocritical and patronizing talking point espoused by a group of schools that all willingly participate in the NCAA basketball tournament, which, when you throw in conference tournaments before that, keep players out of class three to four days a week for as many as three to four weeks, including finals week at quarter-system schools. (And what happens if they go to 96 freaking teams??)
And yet they keep on throwing it out there, now via social media. What a stunner that the Alabama/canceled class story hasn't merited a Facebook link yet.
Tebow would have to learn to control his emotions a little more, but I think he'll have a decent amount of time in the NFL before his post football career needs to be looked into.
Tebow just doesn't seem like a coach to me, but what do I know.
I could see Chris Todd coaching.
besides The Visor, what other Heisman winner has been a great coach?
ZERO
Darren Bates made the CFN 3rd team All Freshman team.
Scott..
There students have to make up the time from what I understand.
I can't see Tebow as a head coach, but I think he could be a great recruiter/motivator as an assistant.
that dee are dee are eigh guy is just stupid
Not sure THT.
I thought for sure that Weurffel (or however you spell it) would end up coaching.
The heisman site that Jay G linked on the blog was just updated.
At what point do they usually make a call?
Uh Oh...
The Richardson kid from Florida that Lane kicked off the team is part of the investigation into the Orange Pride gals...
That's what I read, too, FSJ. I'm not real sure I believe it's going to happen, though. Whatever the case, it's still stupid that administrators throw out missing class time as a reason for no play-off in CFB.
"The heisman site that Jay G linked on the blog was just updated.
At what point do they usually make a call?"
Hopefully, as soon as Gerhart or Suh can sneak back into the lead.
which apparently isn't going to happen :-(
I agree Scott.
The top four at least should be matched in the bowls and at the very least have a plus one type deal.
so which unbeaten team are you going to leave out this year, FSJ?
Boise.
They haven't impressed me to be honest.
And they play on a blue field.
I'd say Cincinnati. Even if they could beat all the others, it would violate all that is good about football for a team with that poor a defense to win it all.
I wish they would get a non-glare blue field. Well, of course, I'd rather them have a green field, but at least get rid of all that glare.
FSJ, I think it's safe to call it for George Rogers Ingram. I think both AU and UAT have had other players in their past who could have won the trophy this year. Who would have thought that Tebow and McCoy would have sub-par seasons and Bradford would get hurt, AND that no player would just blow everyone away. This is just further proof of UAT's dealings with the underworld.
Definitely Boise, I stick by my guns that a non-bcs team never deserves it over a BCS team. If you look at Cincy's D, the defense wasn't that bad for most of the season. They never gave up more than 20 points until Week 10. Then the D was terrible the last few weeks. Makes me think there must be depth issues. I think they beat UF in the bowl game.
In AU's case, when I say "players in the past", I mean besides those who actually won it.
I think Ingram also benefits from the last two winners being sophomores.
nothing outstanding about the hype. stupid trophy...give him one. Ndonkeykong's winning a bunch.
We haven't had enough Bama hate around here lately. Check out McElroy's "classy" pregame speech:
"We own this state, we own this stadium and we're going to run their ass in the ground."--Greg McElroy before the last Iron Bowl.
Here's the U tube linky:
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=64LX8qIv1sM
I'm not about to watch that crap. I'll just sit here and HATE instead.
Here's the link
McElroy
For the sake of my blood pressure, I'll skip watching that.
However I question the ownership, I have a feeling the lease is about up and will default back to the rightful owner soon enough.
When you think your day is bad...just think..you could be this guy..
Don't bet
about time. :-P
This would be a great year to just not even give out that trophy.
There is not a MOST outstanding player this year, To me it cheapens the trophy to try and name one.
