Frankenbummer, I just want to let you know that I support your support of rushing the field.

After all, I did it back in '01. I wish I could have acted like I had seen an unranked Auburn knock off a number 1 team many times, but... well... I hadn't.

9:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

wtc,

It was pretty good. Myron Mixon from over in Georgia had alot of camera time last night. He's among the best. He's won Memphis in May a few times I think...

And he's a bit of character too.

9:00 AM
Blogger wtc said...

I have no problems with students rushing the field. No way should it be done in a win against Ball State but beating a top tier team, I've got no problem with it. Now if my daughter does it and somehow she is fined or taken in, I have a problem with it.

JKev. Requests:

Stones - Live With Me

And you should start throwing in some Black Keys into the rotation.

Start with Thickfreakness. It's very Zeppelin-esque, but also is just good dirty blues. And they're a Fat Possum band, which connects them to Mississippi.

girls don't get arrested.

there are two theories on being around girls on the field.

on one hand, since they don't arrest girls, you're the only target should they come wandering by looking for people to arrest.

on the other, the chance of them coming by looking for people to arrest in a group of girls is less likely, since groups of guys running around like fools are plentiful.

I once lost a bet with a poster on another board about whether Alabama had ever torn down the goalposts...

I arrogantly thought that since I couldn't remember it that it didn't happen. Well that thought cost me $100.

I wasn't the only one that got caught too.

Apparently we did against Ohio State in some bowl game in the late 70's. We even screwed that up. We thought that since we were third and 1 & 2 lost that by destroying Ohio State that we would be national champs.......Not so fast. Notre Dame went from fifth to 1st.

Yeah bigdaddy, the Florida game in 01. Rushing the field was like a high stakes game of red rover. If you made it through the yellow coats, you were good.

I noticed most of the people with their faces being pushed into the grass getting handcuffed were quite drunk and easy targets. You can't be stumbling over yourself and think you can win at red rover.

Of course, the next week, they hired about a billion yellow coats, and then we all realized we would be the last students to storm the field at Auburn. I'm historical, baby!

Well without being a top seed, it ain't bad. It could be like Group G.

Brazil
N. Korea
Ivory Coast
Portugal

I don't really want to see LSU hit with recruiting violations. There is only one team I wish that upon... you guessed it: Grambling. No wait, I mean Alabama. Yeah, Alabama.

England will start cautious I think. The altitude of Rustenberg might mess with them a bit as well.

Algeira and Slovenia are dream matchups on the face of it, but any time the US has to take the game to somebody and not play their counterattacking style, it's hard work.

I like the draw for the USA. Good group to be in. Hopefully we perform much better than last World Cup.

Michael, I wouldn't mind seeing Mount Union knocked off their lofty perch. But then, do D-III schools even recruit? Ok, fine, I'll settle for UA-T gettin the death penalty.

I think it's funny that Blizzard 2009 is gonna snow out the SECCG tailgates...then knock the power out to the Dome so the game can't be played.

I left the gump for north of ATL almost 5 years ago and can vouch that ATL seems to get more worked up over snow than gump does. I'll have you know that I went to the store today and I did not purchase either bread or milk. I am fairly well stocked on beer. I don't need a stinking sandwich. I do miss seeing the WSFA news reports interviewing the former pistol packing mayor standing next to a dump truck loaded with sand.

Ole Em'ry was ready for the snow and the mayhem that would shortly ensue thereafter wasn't he Norm?!? I'm sure he was just itchin' to impose a curfew for that, or anything else he could for that matter.

Sorry guys..don't know what happened to the story.

The LSU student paper reported that there is an issue with a player that redshirted this year receiving money from an LSU assistant to come to the Bayou...

PF that'd be funny as hell if Alabama and Florida didn't do the tailgate thing because of the "snow". Although as I think about it, there's not really a place to tailgate at the dome is there? I've never been to the championship game, just did the activities around the civic center.

Mr.TD,

there's plenty of places to tailgate around the Dome. Not quite like what I'm used to, but it's there. Go down for a Falcons game. It's a different world.

there're? I think I may have to start using that. I did do a tailgate for a Falcons game a good while back. But I'm not sure I was within eyeshot of the stadium. It's definitely different than tailgating on campus, that is for certain.

Source: McCarthy paid Akiem Hicks to come to LSU

LSU junior defensive lineman Akiem Hicks allegedly received money from wide receivers coach D.J. McCarthy to transfer to LSU from Sacramento City Community College in California, The Daily Reveille learned on Thursday.

This transaction led to an NCAA violation that a source familiar with the situation said became known to the team following the Arkansas game last Saturday.

“It was one of those things they try to avoid bringing up, but everybody knows who’s involved,” said the source, who is a former member of the LSU football team. “That right there is a big deal. Minor violations don’t even break the news.”

LSU would not stand to forfeit any wins as a result of the violations because Hicks did not play in any games for the Tigers this season, but Hicks’ eligibility remains would remain unclear as a result of the investigation.

“Taking money turns you into a professional, and that affects your amateurism,” the source said. “If you’re not an amateur, you can’t play in the NCAA.”

McCarthy is apparently planning to leave LSU with running backs coach Larry Porter to be on the coaching staff at Porter’s alma mater, Memphis, the source said.

Tennessee wide receivers coach Frank Wilson has been offered a job on the LSU coaching staff, according to GoVolsXtra.com, the Tennessee sports Web site of the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Wilson, who would reportedly fill Porter’s role, has worked with both wide receivers and running backs during his coaching career.

“They don’t really talk about that either,” the source said. “We kind of knew who was going to leave with [former LSU defensive coordinator Bo] Pelini. McCarthy is probably leaving with [Porter]. If he does, he’s going to probably get a higher offensive position.”

While LSU coach Les Miles’ contract states he has “an obligation personally to comply with and to exercise due care that all personnel and students subject to his direct control or authority comply with governing athletic rules,” LSU Chancellor Michael Martin released a statement Tuesday saying Miles’ job will not be affected by the alleged violations.

“This situation has absolutely zero impact on the employment contract of coach Les Miles,” Martin said in the statement. “He has been highly cooperative in this matter and from the earliest stages has actively participated in the process of resolving this situation.
