Auburn to Outback? You'll have to wait

Hey everyone. This is just a short update.

Auburn may or may not be locked into the Outback Bowl, but that announcement will not occur today. Or tomorrow. Or the next day.

Mike Schulze, the bowl's communications director, said his bowl will not publicly reveal its participants until Sunday afternoon. He initially told reporters to expect an announcement tonight.

Like sand through the hourglass ...

And PF, I would go with Colston and ochocinco. I have those two plus Maclin, and Maclin is starting in my flex position. The question for me is Felix Jones or Marion Barber.

Barber looked like such a stud early this season, not so much now.

I have NEVAH, EVAH set foot in it.

Not to be a killjoy, but it has bad memories for me. One of the sweetest ladies I've ever known died when a person who had spent hours and hours there ran a red light and broadsided my friend, killing her instantly.

It's a dive, no doubt about it. I confess that I've been there a time or two and other places like it. Back in those days, I enjoyed playing pool with some buddies and the more widely popular places didn't have pool tables then.

Tickets sold on SEC side of stadium (incl. Sec 232) count towards AU/SEC ticket sales. However, they obviously wouldn't come from or help dispense the 12,000 tickets sent to AU by the Outback Bowl.

No offense to my beloved AU, but if I'm going to spend that much money on a trip, I'd prefer to know up front where I'll be sitting rather than relying on the random ticket assignment I'd get through AU ticket office.

Goldberg mentions that Chizik is the first coach to lead Auburn to a bowl game in his first season, period. I find that very impressive, although it also says we weren't in nearly as bad of shape as many have speculated.

Also, since it appears that if Wisconsin beats Hawaii, we get them, I like the matchup better than playing Virginia Tech in the Peach Bowl.

I have no doubt that as a staff our offensive coaching staff is a better unit. Arguing how good each coach was isn't really beneficial, but the cohesiveness of this staff has brought back the success. The talent was there, although the depth definitely isn't.

I am also very encouraged by the defensive performance in the Iron Bowl. It makes me believe that we still have good talent, at least for the starters, on defense; although we are not as talented on defense as we were last season.

12:36 PM

RK, you are correct about in terms of the talent Tuberville left. Tuberville is still to blame for the lack of continuity of the offensive staff in 2008.

HOT DIGGITY! mytommyd gets us up to 6 in the HOTTIE seats.

Tickets are $70 for section 232, same as the end zone, but there is $210 "membership fee" to buy in that section. So, I'm still looking for 15 more Hotties who want to sit in The OFFICIAL HABOTN Section for the Outback Bowl. If my math is correct, 21 Hotties would make the ticket price $80 each.

12:42 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

What bothers me most about 2008 is that in terms of the head coach it should have been pretty simple. Tony Franklin makes the offensive decisions. Any offensive coach that doesn't buy in needs to seek opportunities for employment elsewhere. That is my primary knock on Tuberville. Franklin was a poor fit for the philosophy of the other offensive coaches and he didn't appear to give Franklin a free hand. While I don't think Franklin had the people skills to teach the other coaches, it still falls on Tuberville.

It doesn't mean Tuberville wasn't a great coach. It means he made a poor decision and compounded it. It happens.

The thing I don't like criticized is the players and saying they had a lack of talent.

Also, the coaches offensively were pretty darn good, although one of the offensive staff had bothered me for years.

12:42 PM
Blogger Loganville Tiger said...

We are talented as anyone through our first 22. It is when we get to player 23 that we are in trouble. Depth killed us this year.

12:44 PM
Blogger Wakeriderof87 said...

If I'm not mistaken hasn't Franklin pretty much said there was a lack of talent?

I heard Malzahn thought the same thing when he got here.

I like Tubbs, I am thankful for what he did while he was here. But he's gone, no need to bash him or discuss why he should still be here in my eyes.

12:45 PM

The sooner we get to 21 Hotties, or awful close, the sooner I can order us a block of seats. All blocks in Sections 133 and 138 have already been sold. Blocks still available in Sec 232.

Blogger Unknown said...

I am still very impressed about what Chizik and the entire coaching staff has accomplished. In particular, I am more impressed with Ted Roof than I was initially. I do believe we started 3 true freshmen in the Iron Bowl, including both safeties.

The depth is also why I would cut Boulware a lot of slack on the kicking game. It appears that more coaches than just Boulware were attempting to get something going there.

The bottom line is that ChizCo did more than anyone could have expected with the most severe depth issues I can remember an Auburn team ever having, regardless of the cause of the issues.

As for the players Chiz booted off the team, I will never criticize a coach for kicking players off the team regardless of the consequences to depth. It is necessary to maintain the team.

The economy won't be recovered for the middle class until jobs are created.

The hidden danger for this economy is the probable forthcoming inflation that will be kicked off as soon as the economy starts to get going. Oil $$$ will also take off again.

We got years to go before we're out of this mess. Ask any banker that you trust to tell you the truth.

1:28 PM

Chris Todd appears to have been the best QB option we had. I guess I was right in comparing him with Kodi. As for the other QBs, I really didn't have enough info.

As for Caudle, I just judged him on how previous OCs had used him and what I had read about practices. Caudle may be the biggest disappointment in terms of QBs. At the time he was recruited he was well thought of.

Sean, for 2010 I am hoping we will be much better defensively with more depth.

Offensively, if we find a QB, we could be better. I know some are excited about Rollison and I have read good things about Moseley, but until we see some proof, nothing is certain. I want to believe that Malzahn can produce solid QBs. He has in the past.

Tate is going to be hard to replace. He has been our most consistent back for years now and took it to the next level this season. I see Smith as a solid contributor but not a star. As we all have seen, Fannin is good at times, but inconsistent. I find it likely FAH will be good at times but not a back that can make 20 or more carries a game and stay healthy.

My guess is that in 2010 we win about 9 games. 2011 is still very much up in the air, but the losses on the offensive line will hit us hard. I am hoping we overachieve next season, but who knows. It is just a lot of guessing at this point.

I know lots of people that live their lives off the field like Tebow. They don't tell me about it, they just do.

I don't like the duck feathers. O's old unis with the little "chicken scratch" marks on the shoulders were pretty cool.

Blogger Seanzie said...

Whatever happened to the Oregon unis circa Joey Harrington...I thought they were sharp.

Blogger mytommyd said...

I hate liver. Man nuzzles like what Urbane and Timmy do creep me out. The wings/pointy stuff on UF's uniforms is stupid. And now anyone that does something like that is just copying Oregon's stupid uni's.

Yep just filled with hate on this post

Nuzzling on the football field should be banhammered.

I hate UF

Also:
I hate Bowald Pnuts
I hate collard greens
I put sugar in my grits

I've had my southerness challenged because of these things.

This place is mean.

How do you know how Tebow lives his life off the field? I don't hate Tebow, but I do hate Tebow worship.

I don't hate you Sean... but I like you alot less now... its just the facts of life.

I really haven't decided if Tebow brings attention on himself to bring attention to God, or brings attention to God to bring attention to himself. I really hope its the first.

Either way... I have a respect for Tebow I don't have for most Gators... but I still hate everything about him on the football field.

2:21 PM
Blogger Harrison said...

hoopie- hate boiled pnuts and greens too. They suck.

I have always thought people that HATE Tebow are either in love with him or jealous. There ain't nothing wrong wit dat dude

I LOVE Boiled Peanuts and can eat greens but don't love them. And I prefer my grits over my eggs sunny side up.

I hate salads.
I hate fake meat.
I hate any meal that does not have real meat.

We can just agree to disagree on Tebow. I'm not saying the guy's a Golden God and putting him above others, but he seems like a decent guy.

I'm sure there are several others we could say the same about, we just happened to be talking specifically about Tebow in this instance.

Maybe Colt McCoy deserves more attention. He definitely seems to it right off the field with a low profile. Plus, I'm claiming him as a distant cousin.

nuzzling on the football field was gross for sure

Colt is much more my style. Does all the right things, isn't afraid to let others know why he does. Doesn't go out of his way to put his good doings on display.

I like Colt McCoy.
I hate Florida.

I think very highly of Colt McCoy.

You wouldn't say that Harrison if he could actually beat an Auburn team.

Alas, he'll never know that feeling

I was neveh cool with Tebow worship.

I was cool with Tebow until this past weekend. I realized that those ESPN segments are seriously staged. ie: Interviewing and the showing Tebow running through the tunnel onto an empty field while in full gameday uni. That requires pre-meditation on Tebows part and makes him complicit.

2:25 PM
Blogger Wakeriderof87 said...

If I'm mistaken, aren't we the only team Tebow played that he never beat?

2:26 PM
Blogger Wakeriderof87 said...

Actually I guess Michigan falls into that category as well.

2:27 PM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Ok so I like bawled peanuts, greens and grits. Born in Pennsylvania, go fig.

2:27 PM

Wake...that's another reason I like Tebow alright.

Never beat us. Only SEC team he didn't beat, and he played all of them.

Where in PA?

2:28 PM

Isn't Ole Miss in the SEC?

2:29 PM
Blogger E-Bro said...

Can anybody confirm from Saturday's UF-FSU game that when Tebow ran on to the field for Senior Day introduction, was that the stadium playing Olympics style music or was that CBS?

It's bad either way, but if that was CBS...wow...just...wow.

MrsTHT eats collards all alone in our family on NYD.

I don't eat collards, spinach, turnip greens, or turnips. No salad is worth eating unless it has meat on it. Any meal without meat just ain't a meal.

Hey Carmela. Tebow beat Ole Miss in 1997

We should all embrace the Tebow in each of us. Perhaps sanctimonious is the right word, but in my semi-racist terminology, he just seems to darn white to me. Nobody should look that happy go lucky that often.
