Auburn to Outback? You'll have to wait
Hey everyone. This is just a short update.
Auburn may or may not be locked into the Outback Bowl, but that announcement will not occur today. Or tomorrow. Or the next day.
Mike Schulze, the bowl's communications director, said his bowl will not publicly reveal its participants until Sunday afternoon. He initially told reporters to expect an announcement tonight.

Nicely done RF. Glad I could help.
Teamwork makes the world go round. Thanks Sean.
Ima let you finish, but Norm is the greatest page turner of all time.
And PF, I would go with Colston and ochocinco. I have those two plus Maclin, and Maclin is starting in my flex position. The question for me is Felix Jones or Marion Barber.
Barber looked like such a stud early this season, not so much now.
we have an apprentice page turner. Sooner or later they've got to do it without holding Norm's hand. Today is good a time as any.
But you're right, wakerider, Norm is Page Turner Hall of Famer. I'd like to visit that HoF. Is it near Canton?
Thank you Wake. I do what I can, but sometimes working for the man gets in the way of my other important duties such as page flipping.
A pretty nice job by Roosevelt Franklin yeah, yeah, yeah.
I had purged Johnny's Zip Lounge from my memory up until today. The HABOTN never fails to surprise.
The name alone sounds scary. What is it?
you can keep my things, they've come to take me home.
RF, it is a drinking establishment in an older part of Montgomery. I'll bet Jet, Norm, or J-Z can give you a more entertaining description, though.
Have drinken many a jungle juice in Johnny Zips. Last time was about 5 years ago though.
What does Johnny Zip? or unzip?
It's gray and rainy here today, but I'm still glad I found my sunglasses which had been missing since the trip back from Auburn. I'll need them in Tampa.
I don't need to tell 2.0 who touched them.
Puppet Hour starting early this afternoon...?
I have heard of the place. I know those who have spent many hours there. I believe it's one of those 24/7/365 places that doesn't have locks on its doors.
I have NEVAH, EVAH set foot in it.
Not to be a killjoy, but it has bad memories for me. One of the sweetest ladies I've ever known died when a person who had spent hours and hours there ran a red light and broadsided my friend, killing her instantly.
It's a dive, no doubt about it. I confess that I've been there a time or two and other places like it. Back in those days, I enjoyed playing pool with some buddies and the more widely popular places didn't have pool tables then.
Uhm Jet - was that approximately '86 timeframe and was she pregnant? If so, I know the guy. He's righted his ship after spending several years in prison.
I don't miss those days.
Different situation, Norm, but I know of whom you speak, and I salute his turnaround.
The one I reference was about 10 years ago.
well, this is definite enough for me to buy my plane tickets and hockey tickets.
Just need 17 more willing to spend $80 for an Outback Bowl ticket and I'll be good to go. Who's joining LGGByron, THT2.0, diggerforAU, and me in the HASITS, Section 232?
Well, those descriptions weren't exactly what I was hoping for. Not that I have any fantastic memories of the place, but you could run across some interesting characters in there. I only went there a few times in the late 80's/early 90's, mostly to play pool (as mentioned by Norm).
vast majority of seats alloted to AU will be facing the sun throughout the game.
Not so for my friends in Sec 232!
^
t
Hi MJT! Will we see you in Tampa?
I can just see it now, Hotties unrolling a long banner an hour or so before kickoff and walking around the inside of the stadium proclaiming, "WE R HABOTN"
HOTTIE WALK!
That'd be a little strange...
Shutup PF, you'd rather spend time with your new wife than with us hotties at the bowl game. Don't think we don't know where your allegiances really lie.
:-)
What I'm doing and what I'd rather do are two different things.
Rats. I was shooting for a lot strange.
Tickets sold on SEC side of stadium (incl. Sec 232) count towards AU/SEC ticket sales. However, they obviously wouldn't come from or help dispense the 12,000 tickets sent to AU by the Outback Bowl.
No offense to my beloved AU, but if I'm going to spend that much money on a trip, I'd prefer to know up front where I'll be sitting rather than relying on the random ticket assignment I'd get through AU ticket office.
LOL, PF. Spoken like a man who is already married ;-)
12,000 doesn't seem like a crazy number.
Who knew... Wednesdays suck just as bed and Mondays and Tuesdays apparently.
Goldberg mentions that Chizik is the first coach to lead Auburn to a bowl game in his first season, period. I find that very impressive, although it also says we weren't in nearly as bad of shape as many have speculated.
Also, since it appears that if Wisconsin beats Hawaii, we get them, I like the matchup better than playing Virginia Tech in the Peach Bowl.
Will you people in Georgia please keep you bad weather to yourself. You seem to be sending quite a bit of it to me in South Carolina.
12,000 might be tough with the economy like it is. There are a lot of people hurting or really hurting bad that will not be able to go. I have prayed for all of these people for I have come thru some tough times myself. This to will pass but not without God's help so join me in prayer for all who are hurting.
"Goldberg mentions that Chizik is the first coach to lead Auburn to a bowl game in his first season, period. I find that very impressive, although it also says we weren't in nearly as bad of shape as many have speculated." -- SteveFC, Dec. 2, 2009, 12:25 CST.
Amen, digger.
"not in as bad of shape as some thought" may not be true, it may just be a better coaching staff than in the past.
well, it'll still take 84 years to get to where we should be, Jet.
If it takes 84 years I MIGHT not make it.
Somehow I think Steve's comments about not being in as bad of shape was meant as him complimenting what Tub left behind.
I just want to once again remind people what was said by our very own Fake Steve Jobs (FSJ) on th 30th of November 2009 at 10:53 P.M. Central Standard Time
"I believe in Auburn and love it"
For anyone needing proof, merely click on my avatar.
I have no doubt that as a staff our offensive coaching staff is a better unit. Arguing how good each coach was isn't really beneficial, but the cohesiveness of this staff has brought back the success. The talent was there, although the depth definitely isn't.
I am also very encouraged by the defensive performance in the Iron Bowl. It makes me believe that we still have good talent, at least for the starters, on defense; although we are not as talented on defense as we were last season.
THT - put me in for two tickets at the Outback
RK, you are correct about in terms of the talent Tuberville left. Tuberville is still to blame for the lack of continuity of the offensive staff in 2008.
Wake87 is that like opening the envelope or just revealing some of the secrets?
HOT DIGGITY! mytommyd gets us up to 6 in the HOTTIE seats.
Tickets are $70 for section 232, same as the end zone, but there is $210 "membership fee" to buy in that section. So, I'm still looking for 15 more Hotties who want to sit in The OFFICIAL HABOTN Section for the Outback Bowl. If my math is correct, 21 Hotties would make the ticket price $80 each.
What bothers me most about 2008 is that in terms of the head coach it should have been pretty simple. Tony Franklin makes the offensive decisions. Any offensive coach that doesn't buy in needs to seek opportunities for employment elsewhere. That is my primary knock on Tuberville. Franklin was a poor fit for the philosophy of the other offensive coaches and he didn't appear to give Franklin a free hand. While I don't think Franklin had the people skills to teach the other coaches, it still falls on Tuberville.
It doesn't mean Tuberville wasn't a great coach. It means he made a poor decision and compounded it. It happens.
The thing I don't like criticized is the players and saying they had a lack of talent.
Also, the coaches offensively were pretty darn good, although one of the offensive staff had bothered me for years.
We are talented as anyone through our first 22. It is when we get to player 23 that we are in trouble. Depth killed us this year.
If I'm not mistaken hasn't Franklin pretty much said there was a lack of talent?
I heard Malzahn thought the same thing when he got here.
I like Tubbs, I am thankful for what he did while he was here. But he's gone, no need to bash him or discuss why he should still be here in my eyes.
The sooner we get to 21 Hotties, or awful close, the sooner I can order us a block of seats. All blocks in Sections 133 and 138 have already been sold. Blocks still available in Sec 232.
It may be too early for some Hotties THT but I agree we need to strike will the Irons HOT.
How does Ralph "the refrigerator" Friedgen still have a job?
Wish I could make it THT - I'm bummed I can't - but the wallet just want allow it this year.
Why would you strike will with a hot iron digger?
because Kenny and David are HOT!
can't you read? ;-)
But what did Will ever do to Kenny and David, or Digger for that matter?
I am deeply disturbed that you support the striking poor innocent will.
I am still very impressed about what Chizik and the entire coaching staff has accomplished. In particular, I am more impressed with Ted Roof than I was initially. I do believe we started 3 true freshmen in the Iron Bowl, including both safeties.
The depth is also why I would cut Boulware a lot of slack on the kicking game. It appears that more coaches than just Boulware were attempting to get something going there.
The bottom line is that ChizCo did more than anyone could have expected with the most severe depth issues I can remember an Auburn team ever having, regardless of the cause of the issues.
As for the players Chiz booted off the team, I will never criticize a coach for kicking players off the team regardless of the consequences to depth. It is necessary to maintain the team.
Enough, enough, enough with the mention of Tony Franklin. It's over with. This is a new day and it is past time to move on. No more Tony Franklin please. I am sick of hearing that name.
Hahaha, check out who mentioned TF more than anyone in this thread.
Roosevelt Franklin over Tony Franklin, every time!
It is nice to see the HABOTN growing, with Roosevelt Frankln being one of the most notable newcomers. HABOTN just keeps growing.
Demond Washington is a junior and why are you counting the number times your hero is mention on this thread?
Tony Franklin...who dat is?
Wow, I didn't realize Demond Washington was a junior. As for who is my hero, I suppose that is up to you. I don't want to get in that childish discussion again.
Ah, he was a JUCO guy. Good point.
Blah, blah, blah.
I demand a recount with no hanging chads.
Hahaha, well that is cool enough. I don't know Chad anyways.
Now can we mow on?
or move if your grass doesn't need cutting?
Chad deleted a comment earlier today.
For those of you concerned about the economy, the Federal Reserve has come out saying that the economic recovery is gaining momentum. Hopefully that is good news, but it doesn't mean much if you can't find a job.
btw, I'm back now after accidentally kicking my U3 out of the PC under the desk.

I think that the future is bright at AU. The past regime, like most past regimes, made some contributions. I am excited about what is happening with this staff and players as well as what the future does indeed hold. I appreciate past efforts; however, I am ready for some more big time 'cruits to pull the trigger for Auburn. Perhaps the good bowl opportunity will help them decide to be a Tiger. War Eagle.
I hope you fill that section Tar Heel Tiger. It would be a great opportunity for me to get a look at all of you at once.
IV ...You're grumbling about Steve(TF). It's obvious that everytime this issue crops up, he is defending his stance on the issue. His defense is a reaction (effect).
The "cause" is re-occurring criticism.
If it bothers you THAT much, then wouldn't it make sense to grumble about the cause along with effect?
Carmela - I'll be the one that looks like Tony Franklin.
Hoopie,
Please, the issue needs encouragement, not discouragement. It's a hilarious exchange that we need to see more of.
If Napolean had had the use of a B-1B at Waterloo, what would be the effect?
Discuss.
I wish I could go THT, but it just isn't feasible. I do hope all of you hotties are able to get together.
As for the current staff, I am very excited too. I love the chemistry. One of the things that was most striking this year is how quickly team chemistry developed. It appeared to be from the start. Even the 2004 team didn't really seem to jell until the LSU game. It is that chemistry that makes for winning. It is exciting to thinking that these coaches could keep this up.
Steve was right about Chris Todd. Maybe he's been right about everything...DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUN.
with all due respect, Hoopie, no one had even mentioned 2008 until SFC brought it up again. And now I'm going to get SFC off the hook and say, FranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklinFranklin
The economy won't be recovered for the middle class until jobs are created.
The hidden danger for this economy is the probable forthcoming inflation that will be kicked off as soon as the economy starts to get going. Oil $$$ will also take off again.
We got years to go before we're out of this mess. Ask any banker that you trust to tell you the truth.
Chris Todd appears to have been the best QB option we had. I guess I was right in comparing him with Kodi. As for the other QBs, I really didn't have enough info.
As for Caudle, I just judged him on how previous OCs had used him and what I had read about practices. Caudle may be the biggest disappointment in terms of QBs. At the time he was recruited he was well thought of.
Big Snacks, you are still my man. Couldn't have said it better myself. I am just tired of it. It's just that simple.
Chiz technically was first coach to go to a bowl in his first year. There was another coach go undefeated in his first year
"any banker you trust"
Now where on earth am I supposed to find one of those, Hoopie!?
Steve is controlling the pimp hand of destiny...what's in store for 2010, SFC?
oh great, now we've got to discuss tater tot ;-)
Hoopie, you could be right. I have been concerned with inflation. I have also read some articles claiming that this market recovery is only temporary and the big fall is still to come. I don't know that anyone knows for sure. I do know that we have not reacted well to deal with the true issues.
THT ..there were subtle jabs going on.
In order to keep the mud at the bottom ....don't stir the waters.
It really doesn't matter to me, It's just that if it means that much to IV, he should address cause and effect and I was trying to help him out.
Hoopie, leave me alone. Take care of your end of this thing, I will attempt to take care of my end.
Sean, for 2010 I am hoping we will be much better defensively with more depth.
Offensively, if we find a QB, we could be better. I know some are excited about Rollison and I have read good things about Moseley, but until we see some proof, nothing is certain. I want to believe that Malzahn can produce solid QBs. He has in the past.
Tate is going to be hard to replace. He has been our most consistent back for years now and took it to the next level this season. I see Smith as a solid contributor but not a star. As we all have seen, Fannin is good at times, but inconsistent. I find it likely FAH will be good at times but not a back that can make 20 or more carries a game and stay healthy.
My guess is that in 2010 we win about 9 games. 2011 is still very much up in the air, but the losses on the offensive line will hit us hard. I am hoping we overachieve next season, but who knows. It is just a lot of guessing at this point.
Good luck reading that one.
very insightful, Hoopie.
As for me, I'm just inciteful.
as for the economy, there is a disaster looming, though not in the next 12 months. How do I know that? I don't. I'm just making stuff up.
THT ...that would constitute a really close friend that lives and "Bankers" far from you and is therefore not worried about reprocussions.
Most all banks have "rules" about how much the public needs to know.
I have 2 friends located elsewhere and 1 locally that will shoot straight. The other 5-8 I deal with will only recite the company line.
"Pimp hand of destiny." $1 to the fearless leader.
Has the "PHoD" been added to the arsenal to accompany the dreaded Ban-Hammer?
You know what pisses me off? Gold is freakin' expensive. I want to look like a New Jersey mobster, but all I can afford is tin foil.
1st timer here!
Back from lunch and Wake87 I would nver strike Will with a hot iron. The word I was searching for was "while" please insert that in my post and be thankful Will is safe.
Sean ....Pimp Hand of Destiny is a phrase that is new to me and is awesome.
I tried to nominate that for the front quotes, but there were no seconds.
Hoopie, I do understand your concerns about the economy. I have been shifting some investments to overseas recently out of concern. I have been hearing different things from different people. I do think we are suppose to get new jobs numbers later this week.
Welcome Mullets
welcome MB; you're right about that.
Welcome Mullets+Bammers
Grab a seat and join in.
Darn I can't do anything right today "Mullets=Bammers"
Saw a mullet on a guy working at a window tinting bidness up in the mountains the other day. To my dismay he was a UGA fan. Was hoping he was a Bammer and
I could get some representative photos in Bama regalia.
This is a mean place.
Pimp. Hand. of. Destiny. for all you haters.
mean is the new nice.
Carmela, this place isn't mean. It just gets a bit intense sometimes. The conversations are not always on topics everyone want to read.
So al.com is really, really, really nice. Smart people over there, too.
Speaking of al.com, where Sensi be?
PF .. you gotta put on a lot more weight to pull of that look.
When I lived in SW Fla., we would see men in big jewelry regularly. This was however, more prevalent on the SE coast.
You don't know mean until you've gotten an email about how annoying you are.
Sorry about that PF.
IF you can't discuss it here it doesn't need to be discussed.
Welcome Mullet
This place ain't mean, it's lively, entertaining and sometimes frustrating. But other than that, it's what you choose to make of it.
So says Norm.
Been reading for a while and decided I might have something to say every now and then. Got to say this is one of the more entertaining blogs out there.
This is the blog...all the other blogs are posers.
Norm is right
Jet says Norm is never right
but he is maybe... almost... well ask Jet
In my picture you will notice Tim Tebow has appropriated the PHoD and is using it to put the Bammer in his place.
I hate Tebow.
How can you hate Tebow?
Ron Artest drank during half time... thats impressive.
I use to hate Tebow, but the guy seems pretty genuine.
Still annoyed with the profuse attention he receives at times. But I'll hate the media for that. Tebow...seems alright.
Someone tell a newcomer how to navigate this blog better. I have to scroll to the top to post and back down to the bottom to read.
Lendale White obviously needs to go back to drinking tequila.
Zoom out?
It's easy, he plays for Florida, I hate everything that has any association with Florida, therefore I hate Tebow. I can't stand the way he taunts the opposing team and fans either, but thats just a secondary reason. I'm sure PF has similar feelings.
or, just collapse comments and try to remember who you saw last, that's my iPod touch technique.
M=B, use the F5 button.
Also...welcome to HABOTN.
Go Gayta
I have an association with Florida, do you hate me?
wait...better not answer that. This is a mean blog.
I hate potato salad
I hate Waldorf Salad.
Tebow can be a bit sanctimonious on the football field, but I tip my hat to the way he lives the life off the field. Maybe he can have a sitdown with Tiger Woods.
BTW, anybody else think that those symbols on Florida's new unis last weekend represented Angel's Wings in honor of Tebow?
I mean, they were oddly similar to the "duck feather" atrocity that Oregon sports. Either way, I don't like it.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up, Wake. He's definitely magnified a lot of my hate for Florida by being completely obnoxious on the sidelines. Plus, I'm really creeped out by the way him and Urban nuzzle each other.
MB ...try the home and end buttons for faster scrolling.
I like that he has the chance to be an instrument of good against the infidels. Again.
No E-bro. One of the other new Nike Unis had the same design (Missouri, maybe?)
I know lots of people that live their lives off the field like Tebow. They don't tell me about it, they just do.
OVERRATED - Mark Ingram
UNDERRATED - Nuzzling.
:)
been really busy today.
GO GATAH!
I don't like the duck feathers. O's old unis with the little "chicken scratch" marks on the shoulders were pretty cool.
Whatever happened to the Oregon unis circa Joey Harrington...I thought they were sharp.
I hate liver. Man nuzzles like what Urbane and Timmy do creep me out. The wings/pointy stuff on UF's uniforms is stupid. And now anyone that does something like that is just copying Oregon's stupid uni's.
Yep just filled with hate on this post
Nuzzling on the football field should be banhammered.
I hate UF
Also:
I hate Bowald Pnuts
I hate collard greens
I put sugar in my grits
I've had my southerness challenged because of these things.
This place is mean.
How do you know how Tebow lives his life off the field? I don't hate Tebow, but I do hate Tebow worship.
there's never anything wrong with HATE posts on the HABOTN.
I don't hate you Sean... but I like you alot less now... its just the facts of life.
I really haven't decided if Tebow brings attention on himself to bring attention to God, or brings attention to God to bring attention to himself. I really hope its the first.
Either way... I have a respect for Tebow I don't have for most Gators... but I still hate everything about him on the football field.
hoopie- hate boiled pnuts and greens too. They suck.
I have always thought people that HATE Tebow are either in love with him or jealous. There ain't nothing wrong wit dat dude
Oh WE know allllll about Tebow Carmela. Trust us WE know
I LOVE Boiled Peanuts and can eat greens but don't love them. And I prefer my grits over my eggs sunny side up.
I hate salads.
I hate fake meat.
I hate any meal that does not have real meat.
We can just agree to disagree on Tebow. I'm not saying the guy's a Golden God and putting him above others, but he seems like a decent guy.
I'm sure there are several others we could say the same about, we just happened to be talking specifically about Tebow in this instance.
Maybe Colt McCoy deserves more attention. He definitely seems to it right off the field with a low profile. Plus, I'm claiming him as a distant cousin.
nuzzling on the football field was gross for sure
who dat say they gonna hate on Tebow?
not me. not me.
i hope he has a Heisman performance for the ages saturday afternoon. go Timmy T.
ok, i'm out for the day. yall be cool.
...cause he tells us, Carm...
If this place is mean, I love mean.
Bawled P'nuts are pretty gross.
Colt is much more my style. Does all the right things, isn't afraid to let others know why he does. Doesn't go out of his way to put his good doings on display.
I like Colt McCoy.
I hate Florida.
I think very highly of Colt McCoy.
You wouldn't say that Harrison if he could actually beat an Auburn team.
Alas, he'll never know that feeling
This week I am the worlds biggest Tebow fan ever.
I was neveh cool with Tebow worship.
I was cool with Tebow until this past weekend. I realized that those ESPN segments are seriously staged. ie: Interviewing and the showing Tebow running through the tunnel onto an empty field while in full gameday uni. That requires pre-meditation on Tebows part and makes him complicit.
If I'm mistaken, aren't we the only team Tebow played that he never beat?
Actually I guess Michigan falls into that category as well.
Ok so I like bawled peanuts, greens and grits. Born in Pennsylvania, go fig.
Wake...that's another reason I like Tebow alright.
Never beat us. Only SEC team he didn't beat, and he played all of them.
Where in PA?
Isn't Ole Miss in the SEC?
Can anybody confirm from Saturday's UF-FSU game that when Tebow ran on to the field for Senior Day introduction, was that the stadium playing Olympics style music or was that CBS?
It's bad either way, but if that was CBS...wow...just...wow.
He beat Ole Miss in 2007 by 6 points.
He beat them the year before.
He beat Ole Miss in 2007 Carmela.
Carmela...Tebow beat them in 2007.
See how nice this place is?
MrsTHT eats collards all alone in our family on NYD.
I don't eat collards, spinach, turnip greens, or turnips. No salad is worth eating unless it has meat on it. Any meal without meat just ain't a meal.
Hey Carmela. Tebow beat Ole Miss in 1997
So yeah, Carmela, in case nobody else has told you, Tebow beat Ole Miss in 2007.
Did I mention Tebow beat Florida in 2007?
You are funny Peter.
he's been there that long
We're all full of knowledge and eager to share.
One HABOTN.
I mean Ole Miss, not Florida.
Damn...ruined it.
Auburn Hotel/Conf Ctr has DEElishus grits.
Funny how?
funny haha not funyy Tebow
is Norm or Roosevelt around. Do we need some help here?
We should all embrace the Tebow in each of us. Perhaps sanctimonious is the right word, but in my semi-racist terminology, he just seems to darn white to me. Nobody should look that happy go lucky that often.
Steve is semi-racist. That's shocking.
I might be here somewhere...
Sean's favorite Tebow moment: vs AU 2007, after they scored to tie the game @ 17. Tebow got fired up and thought they were going to win. BOOM!
Only semi because I descrimate against everyone.
Dang... Steve is racist.
Is there gonna be a goal line stand?
Now?
It's time...
New Page!
Hmmm...that's the last time I let you win Frank.
Yea, can't stand those white, blacks, yellows, greens...
