Reviewing the real AP All-SEC team

- MY MISSING GUYS
- Ryan Mallett at quarterback. He made the second team. I guess it's a matter of how much one guy makes a difference. Arkansas, in my opinion, would have been awful without Mallett. Florida minus Tebow wouldn't have been No. 1, but they'd have been pretty good. I could see a great argument for Tebow, too. It's just a matter of preference.
- Colin Peek at tight end. He made the second team. I also like Hernandez a lot and I think he'll be a terrific NFL player. He's significantly faster than Peek. I've been impressed with Peek all year because, for a while there, he was the main player in the Tide's passing attack. Peek was up to that challenge and more.
- Patrick Peterson at cornerback. He made the second team. Cornerback can be a very difficult position to quantify. I don't really look at stats. I go by coaches. I hear who they consider nasty and if the player looks nasty to me, I develop that opinion. I assure you that Peterson's reputation is more significant than a second-team selection would lead you to believe.

Tebow? really?
Blah
I'm no Auburn expert but Coleman seemed to play well coming down the stretch.
Peek was a good selection. He is a player that surprised me in the Iron Bowl. I didn't know anything about him before then, but he was impressive.
Peek would have been more widely known but he got hurt in the UT game during warmups (strained MCL when a player fell into him)
That limited him for a couple of games.
Thanks for the heads up FSJ
Is Daren Bates up for freshman of the year honors? He was a pleasant surprise and really made a difference for us this season.
Darvin Adams nowhere to be found. Doesn't make any sense.
Darvin is not as good as AJ Green.
As for Hodge, his numbers were a shade better than Darvin. So that's why I voted Hodge.
Darvin would have been No. 3 for me.
That kid from Vanderbilt led the league in all-purpose yards.
That's probably more impressive that what Bates has done, though Bates has been a huge surprise.
The biggest shock to me: Anthony Dixon is not a unanimous first-team guy. He was outstanding the whole way through.
I still like McElroy for QB. I didn's see the games where he apparently was trying to emulate the early season Jeff Crompton.
But Tiffin? no thanks. He's undeserving of 1st or 2nd team. Plus I still haven't forgiven his daddy.
Leigh Tiffin is a great kicker. What are you talking about?
Jay,
What's your read on this Houston Nutt stuff?....
He's denied it since this morning.
I think it is typical Sexton maneuvering.
Sexton, no doubt.
Nutt is not going to Kansas ... and never was.
JayGT - he may be a great kicker, but there were greater placekickers in the SEC this year.
Wasn't Tiffin accosted during the offseason?
#18 KODI BURNS!
Ziemba was going to be first team All-SEC but he prematurely posted on Facebook the news prior to the official announcement.
Consequently, he was penalized and relegated to the second team.
