From the "Seriously?" Department

Hey everyone. From the Dothan Eagle comes this hilarious interesting story about Tommy Tuberville.

The new Texas Tech coach is interviewing Troy offensive coordinator Neal Brown for the Red Raiders' OC position. Why do I find this funny?

Brown is the closest thing one can get to Tony Franklin without hiring Tony Franklin. Brown worked for Franklin at Troy and has described himself as a Franklin protege.

It's the circle of life.

By the way, to say this means it was the assistants, not Franklin doesn't seem right. I do think there is plenty of blame to be shared and it is pointless to attempt to point to one person. If you point to one person, it has to be Tuberville. He created the situation in the first place.

Another reason you can't have ANY gambling in sports:

When losses mount and can't be repaid ...the Bookie's direct relationship with the gambler opens the door for unethical/illegal repayment schemes.

It is strange, Hoopie. Ironically, I am sure Tuberville told Texas Tech what he intended to do, although he may not have mentioned Troy specifically.

I had been assuming that wherever Tuberville went he would go with some kind of spread offense, but I don't get talking with Brown. It is just strange. I didn't really think Franklin's version of the spread is what Tuberville invisioned.

By the way Jay, your buddy Moon was criticized a bit for interviewing Franklin long after barbequegate was over, but now might be a good chance for you to interview him. You could get his impressions of both Brown and Tuberville. I would love to hear the discussions. Did Tuberville call Franklin to see if there where someone he would recommend? Air raids actually started in World War I, the first war in which airplanes were used as weapons.

As I recall, World War I was fought in Europe, not Kentucky or south Georgia.

The white zone is reserved for the loading and unloading of passengers.

Actually, a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, a ton of air raids happened all the time. And they used lasers.

The red zone has always been for loading and unloading of passengers. There's never stopping in a white zone.

At the risk of not reading all these comments,

If I hired Franklin, and got myself "fired" with $5M buyout, why not hire a Franklin protege and try hitting that lottery again?

this will be like crossing the streams in ghostbusters.

i think he will find recruiting harder now that the offensive "name brand" that drew recruits to lubbock is gone. guys didn't go there to play d. i'd love to see him succeed and wreck havoc in the big 12. i just thing the deck is too stacked against him and it took a gimmick like leach to get kids to come.

Wow, Jet was absolutely on fire today. My nominee for headline quote:

Ok, this would be sorta like the ending of Back to the Future ... except this time, Hugh Nall is washing Tony Franklin's car.

Sheer genius. Kudos, Jetster!

Read about this earlier today...oh my goodness...really Tubs?

BTW, I can totally see Tubs pulling an upset of the Longhorns in week 3.

Then getting blown out by Iowa State two weeks later.

I can see him getting worked if he doesn't have it together. Maybe he can get some d goin over there though. We'll see, it won't be rank and file like with the bbq boys, he's gonna have to work a little more.

Anyone ever watch 'Men of a Certain Age'?

Tonights episode is very funny. Come on TNT.

I can't really see CTT making Tuberville any more than an Ole Miss or Arkansas. Texas and A&M will dominate that state. Texas Tech will likely have solid teams, but I doubt they will reach as high as Leach did. It takes a mad genuis to do that. Unless Tuberville hires one, it will be tough.

Believe me, I know about Air Raids.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

And it's not over now. It's not over until we say it is.

Mike Tyson is the host or RAW and apparently will be involved in a match. They are referring to him as the baddest man on the planet. Someone is about 20 years behind the times.

May I recommend SaZa's, or whatever it's called, for dinner?

Open kitchen, good menu, solid food. Good time.
