JG...the problem is Washington is the lobbyist. We need Mr. Smith to go back to Washington.

I'm not hating on either party because our bicameral system is a sham. I just stay out of it.

I instead focus my appreeciation on the men and women of the Secret Service, who keep our legislators safe. That's a very good thing.

As a side note, Mike Huckabee spoke at Faulkner U. here in town back when he was a candidate. We didn't cover it.

Just sayin'.

The banks of the Coosa River are completely void of snow. The weather station showed a snow cloud go thru here at about 8:00am but it must have been so fast that it didn't drop any snow till it got to Greenville S.C.

I was out for a few errands this morning and was near Aldi's so I ran in to buy some honey wheat pretzels. I also bought some to take to my daughter as their Aldi's doesn't carry them. They had some red wine on sale (you know, for my cholesterol fight) so I grabbed a couple of bottles. So I'm in the check out lane with 2 bottles of wine and 4 canisters of pretzels. Everyone else is buying milk and bread.

And I got carded - actually had to take out my driver's license! Made my day :)

Weather.com(TWC)had us forecast at 1"-2" last night. This morning the forecast was reduced to 1/2" to 1". Now that snow is definitely on the way, our forecast just got changed to 1'-2". I guess there's no substitute for just looking out the window.

I made a B in Aviation Meteorology class because I couldn't forecast well. I'm still wondering how they could accurately grade my "forecasts", when the pros can't even get it right. 31 years later I still think I deserved an A.

"Great moments... are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it." -- Herb Brooks.

In the 1973 snow, I remember ML and I made a snowman in the vacant lot between our houses and threw the football with some neighborhood kids.

That was a weird, weird boy.

Here in Trussville it started around 0930 and at about 1730 it was still snowing. I would say we got about 2.5-3 inches.

it's not supposed to be snowing here, so that must be an 1/8" of volcanic ash that has accumulated in the past 15 minutes.

It looked like we got 3 or so in East Vaughngumpery ... it snowed pretty much the whole day.

Didn't stick good until lunchtime.

The south usually gets "polite" snow. It comes in and makes things pretty, plays with the kids for a few hours, and leaves before it wears out it's welcome.

The snow up here is the guy who gets kicked out of his house and comes to crash on your couch for the night, which turns into weeks, months...

that may be volcanic ash outside after all. Sure tasted like it. Not nearly the flavor of our Jan 30 snow.

Good thing I had a big bowl of ice cream with Hershey's syrup waiting for me inside.

From an email I received from someone at the Montgomery QB Club meeting:

Chizik talked about getting the call from Jacobs on a cold Iowa night (0 degrees) telling him they wanted him to come back to Auburn. He said he was so excited but remained cool since his wife was with him. She asked what that was about, he told her it was Jacobs and they wanted him back at Auburn. She responded "well what did you tell him", he said that he told Jacobs he would give him a call back. Chizik told his wife they were going to do like they always do, go into a room and pray about it and talk about it together and decide. As soon as they got home, Chizik said he took a left and his wife took a right towards the bedroom, he said "where are you going?" she responded "You go pray about it, I'm going to pack."

we only got 2" of snow, but since we weren't supposed to get any, I guess I'm happy. Despite its shortcomings, it is absolutely beautiful, much more so than the 5-6"we had 2 weeks ago. Just doesn't taste as good.

Very poor timing by Google today on their home page.

Jet - that just proves global warming, cause the peak of Mauna Kea almost always has snow on it during the winter.

We got 3" of snow here on the Banks of the Coosa and some bad roads during the night. Wreck killed a young lady on Highway 77.

Just outside the Gump, a 26-year old mother of two was trying to pass another car on a country road, lost control and plunged into a pond. She got out alive. Her boys, 4 and 2, sadly, did not.
