Cam Newton is your No. 1 quarterback
Hey everyone. We now have word that Cam Newton has been named Auburn's No. 1 quarterback exiting spring drills.
“After thoroughly evaluating our quarterbacks during spring practice and over the last week, Cam has emerged as our post-spring No. 1 quarterback,” coach Gene Chizik said. “Obviously, he will have a lot of work to do over the summer and during two-a-days to continue along this path. We fully expect our other quarterbacks to continue to work hard and compete with Cam during the off-season and into fall camp.”
Auburn is making Chizik and Newton available to reporters on Thursday morning. So what can we do before then?
Talk to Cam's father, Cecil, who always has interesting things to say!

- On the news than Cam is the No. 1 guy: ``I don't think it's really sunk in yet. I know Cam is on Cloud Nine. Me? My son is playing for a program that's really top-shelf, he has the job. It doesn't get much better than that."
- On how Cam has adjusted to Auburn: ``A-Day didn't go the way a lot of people expected, but I don't think it was a problem. As someone sitting in the stadium and watching him play, I'd have graded him as `moderate' or 'low' relative to what everyone was expecting. Yet (the coaches) graded him above average. He was making the right decisions out there, so it's not like he made mistakes."
- On Cam's lack of passing opportunities in the A-Day game: ``Not sure what to say about that. Was it intentional or was that just the way it worked out? I'd say it probably was just the script. They watched him for 15 practices. They know what he can do."
- On overall satisfaction with Auburn (over Mississippi State and Oklahoma): ``We're all really happy. I think Gus (Malzahn) is the right man for the job. Cam is in a program that can use him as he should be used ... and he can get the exposure he deserves. We have a pretty big following in Florida and Georgia. We had people hounding us about watching Cam play on TV. They all wanted to see the spring game. It's working out great. I say the same things to (Curtis) Luper. I talk to Gus sparingly. I don't want to be that father who is in the coach's ear all the time. That's not me."

Fife is good for something!
shouldn't you be at work ;-)
That would have been me, I refreshed and saw the ball hanging over the plate and jumped all over it.
Thats THT but I had the day off, went to a Rays' game.
Thanks THT*
I don't want your dreams
Thanks THT for the update on Luv. I've been wondering where she's been hiding.
Wake,
Your kind are out in force tonight here. Saw two cars of hispanics getting harrassed at the 7-11.
Nite hot ones.
PF, my family is from Ireland... that is not a hispanic country. You silly silly man.
Or were you talking about those doing the harrassing?
Edward Norton narrating a documentary is strange. It feels like Fight Club, but there's no fight clubs, support groups, or project chaos.
Your kind is now oinkers. Badges. We don't need no stinkin badges.
Down Periscope is becoming a reality, according to CNN tweeting at 4:45 am (eastern). Somebody goess into work at some ung-dly hour and tweets random news. What a wonderful world! I've got to escape it.
Don't jump, PF.
Good morning all.
G, is Cecil Hurt running his trap again? I've read some grumblings that he made reference to "cheating" if Auburn gets Cothron? Have you heard any of this? That Cecil is a piece of work. He acts just like the walmartians he covers.
When I think of Cecil the Weasel, I are reminded of the Bruce Willis character in the mildly entertaining "Bonfire of the Vanities."
If you're gonna be a ho, be the best ho in the house.
For those that care, interesting read on Tommy @ Texas Tech.

My eyes hurt.
Morning Hotties
Jet - Bonfire of the Vanities, "mildly entertaining"? Surely you jest. That's one for the crapheap as I recall.
WTC ,Normally I would thank you for that article but I'm a little PO'd right now.
I supported Tubs while he was here, although probably not to the degree that it appeared to many folks. My problem was more with the PTB interference of Tubs than anything else.
That notwithstanding ...I CALL BS ON TUBS. He stated that he was ready to leave AU. If so, then why hold us up for the cash? Yeah, I'm sure he was tired of working around the PTB, but that's disingenuous. He also inserts a jab that AU will never beat Bama 6 in a row again. That's BS also, because we can't predict what time and treasures will bring.
Never thought I'd say this but, with all deference to Mike Slive:
I wish Tubs well, as long as he stays in Texas and shuts up about AU.
That's it. Put him in a dark shed, and don't let him out until he takes those comments back.
"The first rule of Project Mayhem is you do not ask questions!"
Radio appearance coming up...ccomplete with Lady GaGa
la, la, la i want your love!
The worst accent ever by an actress -- Melanie Griffith -- and the Al Sharpton-alike made it "mildly entertaining" for me, but not a good movie by any means.
It's Razzie worthy.
Mrs. Jet made me watch "Four Christmases" the other night. I'd put it in the same category. I laughed out loud 2-3 times, but I'm fully aware that the movie stunk.
Hoopie ...
Welcome, my brother.
I'm over TT. Glad he is in Texas. Glad Chiz & Co are in Auburn. TT needed to go to another conference.
Season tickets are purchased. Tiger Prowl on it's way to North Alabama. I will be at the Madison Market on Hughes Road at 6:00. War Eagle!
i'm jealous Kathy. i wanted to see the rock-star bus in person. get a good pic with Trooper today for us!
Yeah - what Scottie said.
wait, was PF teasing about a radio appearance on thursday? what gives?
Yeah, what EHYOU said about what SCOTTIEB said.
Jet - Hot Wife and I paid $ to see Four Christmases when it came out. It was primarily an outing to escape from the family in Troy. But it was still a crappy movie.
Don't think he was kidding scottie.
Please keep in mind that I don't actually know. So.....
Hatin': Thursday Edition, Scottie. I posted a tweet by Biff about it last night. I can't confirm that it's on right now, though.
Killer vid norm. I don't know who the little guy in glasses was, but his actions with the lady next to him reminded me of a dog and a pants leg.
Those of us who dowload a lot of free apps for our Android phones are used to ads embedded within the apps. Apple iphone and ipad users are not. Get ready, Apple geeks, iAd is coming to an [paid] app near you.
Thanks for the welcome THT! Sorry we have the same avatar SteveFC. I'll try to find myself a suitable replacement. I chose my name because I am indeed WEG's 2.0. I am also a female, and, no, I am not a little person.
My two cents on the pizza discussion: Papa Johns is the best "cheap" pizza, but Sa Za's is the best overall.
New thread UPZ.
