Choose Your Own Adventure -- Friday style
Hey everyone. My beloved 1999 Nissan Maxima failed on me today with what is believed to be a transmission problem. I couldn't accelerate without a shimmy. It was an unpleasant development. My car and I have shared 228,000 miles together.
I sure hope we have more time together. My friends say transmission repairs can get quite expensive, so this could get interesting.
So what is going on today at Auburn?
We have No. 3 LSU playing at Auburn in baseball. I'm sure we'll be updating that as the night progresses.
We have the excitement that's sure to accompany Saturday's closed scrimmage.
Sounds like fun. My next official assignment will be the scrimmage.

YEA.
I have absolutely nothing of substance to add. Just an undeniable urge to comment.
228K is a whole lot of miles. I had a Town & Country minivan (a real chick magnet) that just up and died at 197K
i don't think i've ever been on a thread this early
going out to toss the football. See if y'all can make it through the remaining minutes of Puppet Hour unscathed.
thanks THT i'll survive it alone i guess
THIS IS THE GREAT ADVENTURE!
transmission adventures suck. been there.
Sorry to hear about your car issues. I had similar problems about 3 years ago. If I recall correctly, it was over $4,000 to get my favorite POS moving again.
The smart thing to do with my car was likely replace it, but I never have let the smart thing get in my way.
I am at about 177,000 miles, but the last few years I put less than 3000 miles a year on it, most coming in one long trip to Bama every Christmas. At this rate, hopefully I am good for at least another 10 years.
and so passes yet another thrilling and thought provoking Friday Puppet Hour.
my car is sitting at 189, i've retired it from long trips so hopefully it will get me through college
Mrs. Jet's Jeep received a Get Well Soon transmission last summer.
ElTurbo ran off I-85 last Friday to avoid other autos. His Honda Accord will be cremated at a private ceremony early next week.
I hate autos.
My 220,000 mile Camry shimmies all the time, especially in cold weather. Sometimes I hit the gas, it revs up, but I get no pull out of it.
I could have it fixed for a few thousand, but I would rather just drive the thing until it absolutely won't drive anymore without putting any more money into it.
I see where a four star DE prospect is visiting Auburn. His name is Xzavier Dickson. Love that name. Hooked on phonics worked for me.
sure, now Michael shows up. Why, I have half a mind to... Oh wait. I have half your mind to release the puppets on you.
my next car may be a Hyundai, but one without the lipstick.
Time is cruel. I can remember getting out of highschool dreaming of getting some cool sports car. Then I get older. I finally have the money to get that cool sports car. Ironically, I would rather buy stock. Yes, young folks, this will eventually be you.
I've never wanted a cool sports car. I have enough trouble avoiding the law in a minivan.
I'm guessing it may be several hours before Cincy gets home. I hope she'll be considerate enough to dismiss the exhaustion of her trip and post the details on HABOTN tonight.
THT ... might I suggest the Sonata or the Santa Fe?
Both built in the Gumpburb of Hope Hull.
Sure, Jet. Why not.
Jay I replaced the tranny in my 2000 maxima a few years ago at that tune of $3K. She never ran the same after that.
Game's on CSS tonight, but on a channel more of you get tomorrow, sportsouth. I'm off to grab something to eat then off to Samford Stadium, Hitchcock Field, Plainsman Park to watch play some baseball against those ugly tigers
I bet you can get a good deal on a Toyota.
You might not stop, but I bet you can get a good deal.
Why is my wife posting smart alec comments about Toyotas on here, oh wait, I forgot to sign out of her google mail account.
The Ruth! The Ruth! The Ruth is on fire!
We don't need no water!
I say go for the Toyota. I have a Tundra and haven't had a bit of trouble.
Everyone pray for me. I will be in Gonzales, La next week. I should probably go get all of my shots before I go.
Yes, I most certainly am watching OJW.
re: OJW
I still have a hard time believing that some of the early scenes weren't filmed east of the Great Plains somewhere. Those sure look like deciduous forests and streams you'd see east of the Plains. But according to imdb, it was filmed at several locations in Utah, several in Arizona, Oroville, California, and in Wyoming.
I just checked in to see what condition my condition was in. Whats up everybody. Almost A Day game time.
Good news!
Auburn has yet to commit an error in the first four innings vs. LSU.
Bad news!
We're down 10-2.
Cincy & The Blue Hairs are a Meance 2 Society. I spent a couple of hours in gridlock traffic in Eufaula today because of many thousands of people checking out historic homes.
AU starter Cole Nelson didn't have his best stuff.
He faced eight batters. Walked one. Gave up a double. Gave up six singles. Gave up 6 runs. All earned. Didn't get anyone out.
I'm home! And my 15 passenger van and I did great!!
ehyou,
I looked for you, but no luck! We had a guide who knew all the back roads and kept us out of the gridlock traffic.
THT,
Not one single map in any of the homes we visited :(
thanks for the update, Cincy!! Glad you had a great time. I can go to sleep now that I've heard your report... or in a few minutes after JW kills Terrill.
It really was a great trip. Left here at 7 am, got to our Auburn condo where the boys did a great job of cleaning and having coffee and muffins ready for us. It was many of these ladies first time to Auburn and they were quite impressed. Got to Eufaula at 10:30, bypassed ehyou's traffic, saw 2 gardens and 4 houses. Stopped at Chick Fil A in Tiger Town and got back to the Ham about 8:15. Long day, but the blue hairs (really they are all blondes) had a great time! And I didn't hit a single curb or back over anything :)
Yeah, we are watching OJW also.
Shon Coleman is cancer free, in remission on Day 15. God is good.

Tigers light up the Lsu bullpen for seven runs in the final 2 innings, but fall 10-14...no errors, though. Cole just couldn't hang in the first, which proved unrecoverable.pretty good outing by Slade.
There is a pretty good article on ESPN.com about Au and the recruiting efforts fro this past class and how they are working hard for the next class. It was written by PM. Should I post a link to it?
does anyone else use the site www.tigerland.com?
It is a good location for most all articles written about AU. They show the source and you can click on the headline to go read the article. I found prior mentioned article there.
sorry i couldn't will the boys to victory tonight. I did however enjoy heckling the crap out of their bullpen pitchers. I would like to take credit for at least one of the wild pitches that we scored a run on.

good video kathy, watched it earlier in the week
I was in Hotlanta with the lovely ladies of Alpha Chi Omega this evening, but my friend kept me updated on our poor performance against Loser State.
I hate to lose like that.
A funny note, when we got back and unloaded the buses, KA shot off their cannon (a lot louder than you'd think) and I thought of jhag being down here. Rodeo starts bright and early tomorrow, rumors of 10,000+ attending.
Gonzales isn't that bad, CH=B, my dad has a few stores down there that he stops by from time to time.
I walked in to Beefs for dinner around 10 tonight and got excited to see the Rays destroyed the Damn Yankees 9-3. I then sat down and got excited to see Auburn playing on TV, then cried a little when I saw we were losing 14-3.
So it goes.
Sweet dreams, Wakerider.
The rest of you Hotties, RIse and Shine!!!
WARRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
Y'all have a great day.
JGT, I look forward to hearing about practice tonight when we get back from Richmond. Thanks so much!!!
back at work on another saturday morning. this is getting old. is youth league baseball ever going to end? at least i'll be in auburn this time next week! yabba-dabba-doo!
good morning all.
Good morning HABOTN!
Couldn't sleep last night, so I watched the Outback Bowl! Got me excited for some football, so I really couldn't sleep afterwards.
War Eagle!
jealous Kathy. i went to watch it last weekend only to discover it was deleted off my dvr! aarrgghhh.
oh, well. Billy Wagner disappointed me yesterday giving up a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 9th. game went to the 13th & the Braves lost. bummer.
wtc,
Thanks for the heads up about the pm article. I do usually check out Tigerland to see if I am missing anything.
Fearless,
Are you going to the game today? Wish we could come. I have a much better feeling about today's game than I did last night's.
Transmission problems stink. While in Auburn I drove a Mazda 626 without reverse for over a year because I couldn't afford to replace the transmission. Good lick replacing yours.
Thanks for the Ziemba article, Jay. Good reading. A-Day one week from today!!
