Auburn football lands a commitment

Hey everyone. In my zeal to cover the AISA Class AAA softball championship today (Glenwood School won), I'm a tad late on some significant Auburn news.

Angelo Blackson, a defensive lineman from Delaware, on Saturday told coaches that he's planning to sign with the Tigers next February.

What do we know about him?

We know he's now committed to Auburn. We know he has offers from Tennessee and Pitt and Maryland and North Carolina State. We believe Southern Cal will show interest. Oh, and we know he's approximately 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds.

Thanks to our friends at AuburnSports.com and AuburnUndercover.com for that information.

We need to build a metaphoric fence around Delaware to keep this talent coming.

Auburn was doing much better when I wasn't watching Gametracker. We are leaving to go out to dinner. Maybe they will do better now.

Just got back from dinner and saw that y'all pulled out the Tigers. Great job!! Can't believe all the hometuns scored in this game. Going for the sweep tomorrow!

And on a related note, the women's softball team took 2 from Arkansas today.

Not sure what hometuns are :)

What an absolutely insane finish. Hopefully we can quiet their bats tomorrow for the sweep.

Wow, I've been gone all day so I just saw the score. We were in the car a lot today and I checked in on the score. It was 9-0 at the time. I turned off the radio in disgust. What a come back.

I have had time to research this commitment. Whats the word on him? I didn't even know we were recruiting him. Big dude, could be a nice run stopper.

CH=B,
I don't know anything about his abilities, but I love reading what he says about Auburn and how he made his decision. "One trip to Auburn is all it took."

Okay, our football teams beats MSU 3-2 a couple of years ago, and now our baseball team beats them 16-14. Something is strange here, very strange.

Blogger Unknown said...

New criteria for Auburn head football coach. If you can't score more points than our baseball team does against MSU, you are a goner.

That was one of the best come-from behind wins i've ever seen. I was there in person and almost left after the scoreless fourth, glad i didn't. Was sad to see Fradejas' hitting streak end, but good to see the fans give him a standing ovation after he struck out in the eighth.

Looked up some info on Mr. Blackson. Seems to be a really great prospect. He is a relative unknown right now because he isn't exactly in a recruiting hotbed. His school doesn't have a lot of experience with recruiting. Thigpen is friend of one of his coaches so we were able to get the scoop. It appears that his recruitment is beginning to pick up. USC and Ohio St. are indeed showing some interest. He was quoted saying that he will not take visits to another school. He seems to be 100% Auburn. Loves Auburn and the coaching staff.

Fearless, wish I had been there. I don't know about the weather down there but in Bham it was a picture perfect game. I wish it could stay like this all year long.

it was great CH=B, beautiful weather, and just an offensive SHOW. The other good moment with Fradejas was after he struck out and had taken the field Trent Mummey ran over from center and gave him a big bear hug

This AU team likes to make things interesting... now don't they?!
Down 9-0 and come back to win it... WOW! 7 HR is a team record.

Great news regarding Angelo Blackson! The dude is gonna be a beast. IF he does any camps this summer, he'll pile up offers from everywhere. Coaches did a great job finding this gem.

7:34 PM
Blogger CHB said...

Miller I'm hoping he doesn't do camps. From his comments he doesn't seemed interested in even hearing from other teams.

I was reading an article about Cothron and something really stuck out to me. He is 6'8" with a 31" vertical. That is really impressive. Usually its the shorter guys with big verticals. This kid can really get up. I see him blocking a lot of shots if he has that instinct.

http://auburntigers.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/fb-2010-song-vote.html

Fans are going to be able to vote for the song to go along with the intro video. Go to this site to see the list of songs. You can also make a suggestion.

I don't think there are too many hip hop fans on here but I think those are the best songs in these situations. I think it helps get the fans and players fired up.

There are a couple good choices. There is the obvious "Eye of the Tiger". That Tiger Walk song i on the list. I didn't know Travis Williams did that song. I really like it and voted for it. I think if would be cool to have a former player's song selected and maybe become a second traditional sont (second to Eye of the Tiger obviously). The song by Trick Daddy wouldn't be bad. I also like the song Put On by Young Jeezy. Doesn anyone know what movie that song was written for? It came out last year or the year before and it was a cop moving set in NYC..I think. I want to rent it if I can ever remember what it was.
