2nd place video substance!
Words can't even imagine how happy I am to get the first post.
This was my first run with HD video from my Nikon still camera.
Some good things about it. Some bad. All in all -- underwhelming.
Thanks for the attempt to become a videographer! Good substance!
If you pause the video right when Chiz comes on, it looks like he is imagining doing something other than talk about Newton... hehe
I can't watch the video at work, but I'll assume it is superb.
Homer - thanks for the video. Even if you think the gear is underwhelming.
Ehyou - your 10:59 from previous thread was very well played.
Now it's actually HD dimensions, so that's good.
Trial and error = best way to learn.
Or you can be like me and get everything right the frist time. I mean the first time.
The video looked great for me. I have been without my landline since Saturday night . No big deal since I get most of my calls thru my cellphone. BUT my DSL has been down since last night and this is unacceptable. Got it all fixed and ready to go. It seems to be working better. Cam seems like a smart young man and I think he will do well for Auburn football.
Great video JGT. Thanks for the substance. Gus has gotten nicer!
Practice, mah...not the game.
Scottie,
I remember talking to Sam Rives at Fan day before the 2004 season and he was commenting about he was the only senior not on the poster they gave out to get signed.
funny. he made up for it at the Sugar Bowl then. he was on the front row walking out of the tunnel when the team was locking arms. i have a 16x20 of that and got it signed by 15 players from the team at a-day.
Sounds about right.
Man, I am so glad that wasn't Cam Newton's voice at the start of the video. I believe it was Allen Iverson. Any player that isn't serious about practice, shouldn't play, yea even if he is the so called franchise player.
Newton seems to have a different view of Malzahn than I do. It appears he must be an intense geek.
Jay, I loved the video quality. It looked great to me.
i like the new widescreen look JG. thanks.
I too like the new widescreen video. Nice work Jay G.
As for Cam, he looks and sounds like a leader to me. Hopefully he takes us to the promised land!
Thanks, JayG, for the video--looks good on my screen, even in the full screen mode.
I like Cam. He sounds teachable and like he has learned a lot from past mis-steps.
Good afternoon, I'm a little late to the party today. Didn't read all of the post, but what was all that talk about ninnies?
E-Bro got his feelings hurt by Jay G, so I called him a ninny. He mumbled some random comeback, then called me one. I called him a bigger one. It was epic.
So it was a ninny fight?
E-Bro,
Did you go to the Alice in Chains show last night here in the Noog? Not sure your musical tastes, but that was a great show.
Is being a ninny becoming an exlusive subset of the hotties? How do I join?
PF was the one who got his feelings hurt with my ingenious comeback. He tried to mask the pain by being clever. I wasn't buying it.
Chalk another win for the good guys.
By the way, I like that Newton realizes that he is under the microscope on and off the field. If Mike Price had known that, he would have been much better off.
RK...I missed that. My job doesn't leave a lot of room for mid-week activities unless I'm taking off the next day.
I'm not a massive AiC fan, but I can dig them. A co-worker is going to see them in B'ham this weekend, I think.
Where did they play?
As for my musical taste, the last few artists to pop up on my iPod as I listen to at work were:
Band of Horses, My Morning Jacket, The Shins, Ryan Adams, and Kings of Leon.
E-bro,
Memorial Auditorium. I went, but I didn't get home until after 11, and getting up at 5:30 this morning wasn't fun.
However it was a great show.
Bro - I've never heard of anything you just mentioned.
I'm a big My Morning Jacket fan, I think they were in Atlanta last weekend.
Chattanooga rarely gets good concerts, so I try to get out to them if it's someone I want to see.
Gregg Allman is going to be doing a solo show at the Pavilion by Finley Stadium next month.
E-Bro,
Do you wear chick jeans?
Late last night I saw some of the Ole Nutt/South Carolina game from last season. At the time Ole Nutt was 4th in the nation. I had forgotten how big the belly flop they had last season was.
I am a big Dr. Hook fan these days. Who's with me?
Quick someone give me an over/under on the number of times Steve says "Ole Nutt" this season?
Steve, I'm not sure the ninny club is the one you want to be a part of.
IMPORTANT ATLANTA BRAVES UPDATE:
in the top of the 4th inning in st. louis, the Braves have scored a run. i repeat, the Braves have scored a run!
i kinda like 'ole nutt'. it makes me giggle inside.
I'll take the Over on that number.
Did you know that Houston Nutt's brother is named Harry? Not making that up.
Scottie,
I take the over by a wide margin.
I know Houston has a brother named Danny who was the QB at Arkansas in the 80s.
PF...that's personal.
It is good to see Houston Nutt's parents had a sense of humor.
I will bust no Ole Nutt before it's time.
RK...you're right about the Noog and concerts. If they ever get an act I absolutely must see, I'll just have to be tired the next day at work.
Saw Dylan and Willie when they came through town a few years back.
E-bro,
In the rain?
Giggitah!
A kick butt video.
RK...yep. Got quite wet. Not the best night for a concert and was a little underwhelmed by the show, but maybe that was just b/c of the misery wrought by the rain.
I stood up Bag unintentionally today. Just got caught up in some other stuff and didn't have my phone with me. Sorry to anyone who was planning to listen ... or listened!
That's the way it goes sometimes JGT
SFC great video enjoyed it.
Homer - instead of listening to you and Bags regale us with excellent AU talk along with what I'm sure would have been a litany of other fine topics, we got to hear about oil spills. Thanks.
I just read a blog post on the CBS sports page that said the local reports in KC say that MU is headed to the Big 12 and it could be announced as early as this afternoon.
And so it begins.
I'm ready for the fun to begin. I'm not against expansion.
Any see the 2010 US News and World Reports college rankings? Auburn is tied for 39th. They are the 3rd rated SEC school. This is for public universities only. I think that is pretty good. It seems each year they slowly creep up. I think in part because of the higher standards to get in. Does anyone know the current ACT/SAT score requirements?
I'll be on with Bag tomorrow afternoon for a good while. In studio.
I've gone on HABOTN record many times already saying I'm against expansion. It will remain thus until the (no doubt) bitter end.
I see a cold war style arms race ahead of us between the SEC and Big __
CH=B ... To get in AU, north of 25 on ACT is preferred.
Hypothetical - The Big 12 and the SEC each expand to 16 teams. Does this in any way aid in the argument in favor of a playoff system for a championship? Discuss.
I don't think expansion works as well for the SEC as it will for the Big 10+1. The Big Ten Network will benefit from more schools in the conference. The SEC won't see that benefit with the ESPN deal.
Oil spill talk was enlightening. Who knew that BP will be bankrupt in a year and re-form at PB?
Norm, I think the super conferences would simplify a playoff system. If you don't win your conference championship game, you aren't in the playoff.
I had recently been considering buying BP stock. The time may be becoming right.
I hope for the environment that they get that oil cleaned up. Also on the selfish side....I'm going to Orange Beach for Memorial Day.
This reminds me of my days at the University of Louisville when I signed DaJuan Wheat. Keith Legree went to play minor league baseball immediately.
I tell you what, since I have been doing my radio gig up here Joe B. Hall, and we have gotten more and more involved with promotions and so forth, it has been hard to post like I used to. I am upset to see that I have been removed from the Ring of Fire. Very disappointing.
Grass is cut. Weedeating complete. Off to get the hair touched up in honor of Tiger Prowl! Any Hotties attending today in the greater Madison area, I'll be the lady with the bright red, short hair!!! Maybe we can get a Hottie group shot with Trooper!
Hottie Ho!!!
Denny ...
Welcome back. Don't be a stranger.
Post once every few years, Denny.
Alternatively, you can answer Facebook messages every six months or so, too, if you're interested.
OH SNAP!
Nice to see you back Denny.
Ouch. Jay G, I am hurt. I am up here in Lexington missing you so much and your insightful views and this is what I get. I tell you what, I love the abuse. I miss you all so much.
I promise to do better.
Speaking of disappointment, how about UK football.
Denny Crum! Our local celeb is back!
UK wonders why no one is interested in their football program. Most High Schools put more into a spring scrimmage and the media production than they did.
And while we are on it, this Coach Cal and the one and done recruiting is a travesty. I don't know which is worse, the one and done recruiting or the kool aid drinkers in Lexington who think that this is somehow good for college athletics and this is the way to long term success.
And I like the decision with Cam Newton. Great choice.
How about Ben Tate? What a guy. I am so proud for him.
MU to the Big 12 is a confusing statement for me.
Funny that I send you a Facebook message, never hear back ... and you're the one who's hurt.
I think that MU-Big 12 stuff is bogus, false, premature, etc.
I am sorry Jay G. I truly am. I was trying to get things squared away in my new crib and job location. No excuse. I thought I did send something back. Perhaps I didn't.
Denny Crum, the second most famous poster on the HABOTN.
The most famous is of course me.
Oh, so when CH=B says the "MU [is] headed to the Big 12", he really means that someone is reporting that they're leaving the Big 12 and going to the Big 10 (11-16).
Denny, you have not been removed from the Ring of Honor. You have just moved into a special section located in a mason jar burried in Jay's back yard. Few others have received that honor.
PF, I assumed by Big 12 he meant Big 10 + 1 + 1, not to be confused with the Big 12.
The Big 10 really needs to change their name for clarity. I like the Uber 11. It would really clear things up.
Sorry for the confusion, I think you all figured it out though.
Great, now the validity of all blog posters will be questioned.
I question Denny Crum's commitment to puppet hour.
[kicks blog laying on ground]
Well, I reckon I killt it.
too depressed over missing a BEASLEY!!! opportunity to post, so pretend this isn't one.
Back to work :-(
One thing I don't question is THT's devotion to Beasley.
wake - I had the great fortune of seeing him play and there's just not been anyone else like him. At least that's the way I remember it.
oh rats, you tricked me into posting!
Does everyone have everything they need for Mint Julips this weekend?
If not, here's what you need
THT, there is no doubt that Beasley was a great one and a large reason that Pat Sullivan won the Heisman. Beasley had legendary toughness. Although I was very young at the time, I believe in one Iron Bowl he received a concussion in the first half. Did he quit? Heck no. He walked it off and came back and kicked Bama butt in the second half. Beasley was a man and one of the tougher players I remember.
Wait, you were very young when Beasley was playing? So, you're barely old enough to be my dad? Geez.
PF, I was under the assumption you were in your early 20s. I have kids older than that.
No.
Conference expansion is evil, but I'd love to get Georgia Tech back in the conference. We lost a great rivalry there.
I agree Nova. Georgia Tech is on my wish list.
I would also like to complement the Chiz on his use of hands while talking. There is some skill there. He is a few finger movements away from sign language.
If we went to 16 teams, I would want GT, Clemson, Texas and FSU.
That being said, I'd rather no one expand past 12 teams.
Can I get an Amen-a!?
(Regarding Wake's post)
Something just reminded me of my wife's idiot uncle trying to convince a couple of us that our single button peak lapel tuxedos were not at traditional as his rounded lapel piece that went out of style almost as soon as rap stars and athletes brought them in in the 90s, and would be going out of style soon. I had not enough to drink yet to handle it properly, so I walked away.
If we went to 16 teams, we would be two conferences in less than 5 years.
What's the point in that? (rhetorical, as there is no point)
I don't know what you just said, but if rap stars wear something, it should be avoided
The point is that semi-relevant old dudes feel the need to do something major that will leave their mark. They just can't help trying to fix something that's not broken.
Wake,
Basically, I chose my tux because I didn't want to buy a new one every couple of years. Stupid uncle guy bought his when it was trendy (or more likely, after it was trendy, and on a sales rack). Mine was traditional and timeless, and he tried to convvince us otherwise in hopes that we wouldn't notice how stupid he looked.
I find it highly unlikely I will ever buy a tux. If I plan things out right, I won't ever wear one again.
You people misunderstood my hypothetical the other day regarding expansion....
I prefer to stay at 12... if we want to strengthen the SEC, there are ways of doing so and stay at 12 teams.
IF other conferences decide to expand beyond 12, I believe the SEC will do so accordingly, and further strengthen its hold as the supreme conference.
My feeling is that if Mizzou heads off to the Big 10+ then The Big12- may come after Arkansas... which is perfectly fine with me...
Georgraphically, I think adding Clemson, GT, F$U to the SEC would be good competetively.
BUT, the point to expanding beyond 12 for other conferences is to increase the almighty $, increase the footprint, spread out, bring in new markets.
IF that happens, then adding Clemson, GT, or F$U does zip, nada, zero for expanding the footpring, adding revenue, adding new markets for the SEC... we're already in those markets.
There is an extra 'r' in geographically... please ignore it..
No expansion "period" if other conferences feel it necessary let them go for it. The only change I would make is swap South Carolina for Ga. Tech. And that probably won't happen.
Why in the world would you want to mess up a great thing just becasue someone else feels the need to try someway to catch up with the SEC.
Was watching a college football show on ESPN2 that comes on each night about 6:00pm CST. They have Robert Smith and Bob Davie as two of the guest and some ESPN guy as the host.
Davie thinks Colorado goes to the PAC-10 and Smith thinks Mizzou goes to the Big 10.
They did say the Big 12 does not split the bowl money up evenly and Colorado was not real happy with it
Did anyone else see that show. At times they were scrolling a top 25 ranking across the bottom and I missed it several times. it was not the final ranking, as they had UGA at #23. It seemed each time I saw it I was catching just the final 8 or so positions. is there an early poll out that is not some guy just posting what he thinks. This one looked like it was an ESPN poll for the 2010 season.
I did not see that show wtc but I saw one earlier that I am not sure who's it was but Ala was 1 Ohio State 2 Fla 3. I don't remember the rest but Auburn was not in the top 25 because i watched for them.
Messed Up beyond belief
wtc,
College football live did a poll themselves based on their experts a couple weeks back, they've been showing that one since
Digger-thanks. I did see that AU was not in the bottom 8. I figured AU was not in the top 17.
wake...
I wish I could go back in time and tell myself not to click those blue words.
To say that was disturbing is all I can think of to say but that's just so inadequate for that. I wish I hadn't seen that.
Why are you guys so against love.
I was trying to guess which state these two fine upstanding people were from. It looks like its New England.
They look like walmartians. I am truly sick to my stomach now. Thanks Wake
Any Huntsville Hotties have details on Tiger Prowl?
Wake - I think it's the State of Just Plain Wrong.
New Zealand not New England... wow its time for some sleep.
Anyone else find the Etrade commercials with the baby hilarious?
Earlier today, Saban said about facing all these opponents coming off a bye week, the one that concerned him most was against us b/c it's a shorter week being on a Friday.
I would gladly give up the that bye week if we could move it elsewhere in the season.
$aban is a crybaby.
Just back from Tiger Prowl. A beautiful day for a great get together with the Auburn family. Coaches that attended were Luper, Trooper, Thigpen, Lolley, Grimes, Matlock, and Fortner. Coach Fortner is a great speaker. She told some great stories about the change in Auburn after these football coaches arrived. She also talked about cooking pancakes for the coaches. You can tell she has a great relationship with all the coaches. Of course, Luper was Luper, and Trooper was Trooper. Quite entertaining. Great crowd. I didn't meet any other Hotties.
They also talked about our new QB! They said Coach Fortner helped in his recruitment. When he took Cam to the arena when he visited Auburn in December, Coach Fortner stopped practice so the girls could meet him. Cam was very impressed that she stopped practice for him. Coach Fortner interjected her story. She wanted to know if we had seen Cam. She said she had 18-21 yr old girls. When Cam walked in, she said she had no choice but to stop practice! But she said she was happy she could help the football coaches!
Outstanding report, Kathy. Thanks!!! That would have been so much fun.
Two quickies and Sharks up 2-0. Go West coast teams!
jumping jackrabbits
Sharks 3 goals in 79 seconds.
Coach Madlock recruited Josh Langford and wanted to come back up here to visit him, which he did. He promised this would not be the last recruit they get from this area.
Thanks for the report Kathy! It sounds like we have some quality folks in our coaching ranks.
I was very impressed with all the coaches. They were all very approachable. They all talked about "family". It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of kids there. And the TV media were there which really surprised me. It didn't get much advertisement during the week.
A cop told me a joke while we were waiting. What is the one thing that UA fans and AU fans have in common? Neither went to UA!
"Good morning, but I digress" is the funniest thing ever. Everything else pales in comparison.
Oh, I like the neither went to UA thang. That ain't bad.
Good joke Kathy... I may have to steal that one...
Sweetwater Road Trip is a good brew.
Let me get this straight ... Saban is whining about our bye week before the Iron Bowl.
UAT is playing GEORGIA STATE, which has yet to play its first game. The Cousin Humpers could play their third teamers and win comfortably. After all, we heard repeatedly last year that UAT was working on Florida the week of the Auburn game.
If Saban or Mal Moore or Mike Slive calls Jay Jacobs and asks him to consider changing the schedule, I hope he responds, "Guess how many fingers I'm holding up."
Then hang up.
Yeah, welcome to the deranged psyche of Nick Saban.
Still, I would love for us to move that bye week at some point so that we're not always playing eleven straight games.
Or at least move Homecoming to the first half of October instead of the beginning of November. We really lost steam in October last year- we could have used a week to rest the starters a bit.
jet, i would hope chiz would do $aban the courtesy of speaking to him about his concerns with scheduling.
chiz should then hand the phone to trooper or luper and say in the background, "would you talk some sense into this f------g a-----e?"
flaking acetate?
Furthermore, my mother informed me today that I should not be looking forward to Gulf shrimp/seafood much this summer.
The spill reached LA's coast this afternoon.
TGIF Hotties. Looking forward to a shorter day of work today and maybe a Lookouts game tonight.
Work Hark Work on three.
1, 2, 3.
WORK HARD WORK!!
Look at Cam. I'm coaching 18-21 yr old girls. I had no choice but to stop practice.....
That is great stuff.
Monday report deadlines make Friday (and usually Sunday) extra sucky. Stupid lawyers.
Morning all. This oil spill is really getting on my nerves. Not only is it harmful to wildlife and possibly devastating to the coastal economy, but it is ruining my chances of a Memorial Day beach vacation. I have so been looking forward to that vacation.
Just go to another beach?
Finally got to watch the video Jay G, looks nice.
I feel like Chip Diller, screaming amidst pandemonium....
Remain Calm!
All is well!
The Braves and Hawks will be just fine!
my boss knows how to make every day sucky. even saturdays. he has rare talent.
the class action against BP from every business that fails directly because of the oil spill is going to be interesting. the oil spill will probably be in the court system 30 years. hopefully when BP is faced with the possibility of losing their US market they will do the right thing.
morning hotties. fired up to work a double today. yippee! get some uncle sam! get some!
Article posted in the Athens GA newspaper stating that the NCAA has limited the number of coaches to visit a high school simultaneously. They specifically mention stretch Hummers, limos, and extravagant buses.
http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/043010/foo_628361984.shtml
nice find API.
they're scared. very scared. go chiz & co!
Link to article
Your address didn't work API, hope you don't mind if I link it. Seems pretty relevant to us.
i think they should still take the caravans to each of these towns. they can always park at a mall or something & then the coaches can go to the schools in pimped out Escalades instead of limos. :)
"institutions are unnecessarily expending resources in order to have multiple assistant coaches attend..."
Evidently it is now the NCAA's responsibility to determine how athletic programs spend their money.
I had to contact Snopes.com about that grandma/grandson thing. No way that can be real.
That's a good idea MYTD. I tend to agree with you.
So, now there's an Auburn Rule.
Now, that's making progress.
So now we have a Chizik Rule.
Lil Nicky predictably got real upset and verbal about the Saban Rule. I'm betting Chizik has no comment.
Ehyou did that "anti Tiger Prowl with limos and hummers " article mention anything about helicopters?
Apparently Carver-Columbus had 3 "entourages" visit the school this week. I can see where this could be disruptive to the HS. I could care less that the Big LEast whines about schools spend excessively.
Interesting article. What did Luper say in Montgomery? 'Have you ever seen a dog bark at a parked car?'
Let them shout all they want. The limo, hummer, etc. never went to Ark, MS, SC, LA did it? Why did AU get top players from those states? Hard Work, that's why.
Great point WTC. Here is a way around that rule. Take the fancy bus to the city. Then break up the coaches into smaller groups. Have each group make the rounds to every school that the larger group was going to hit. Does this really cost that much more than each coach out on his own at the same time?
PF..going to a different beach isn't really an option since the oil is expected to affect a large area. Plus we have a free condo to stay in if we go to Orange Beach.
Be sure to hit Cosmo's
No where in the article did it say they can't use the buses and limos. Just can't have more than two coaches from the same college visit a high school in one day. Why does the Big East care what the SEC does. They can compete regardless. A comment on the article made a good point. These coaches can't talk to the specific recruits so what's the harm?
Where is everyone today?
G or anyone else who may know, help me with a couple questions about the new "Chizik Rule".
1. I have read more than one article on it and have not seen where the rule states you can't use limos of buses. Those two things have been mentioned in the article but not when the specific rule is stated.
2. If I am reading the rule correctly it states there can't be more than 2 coaches recruiting a player at his school at the same time. Correct me if I am wrong but they are not allowed to contact the players so therefore are they really recruiting?
CH=B,
Depends, actually. It might significantly affect any beaches we care about at all...there's always Myrtle Beach/Charleston/Savannah/Jacksonville. I don't think the oil spill will affect those beaches. At least Memorial Day.
Anyone who can't make it to the beach on a three day weekend is a ninny.
CH=B,
Those very similar consecutive posts are very SteveFCian.
PF, maybe you didn't understand my post about the beach. WE HAVE A FREE CONDO TO STAY IN. That's pretty significant. Plus we are very fond of Orange Beach and it's not just me. I have a wife, daughter then the in-laws and some other family planned on going. So it's not that easy to just change plans.
Oh and never say I am being Steveish again.
I got that part, I just didn't find it significant to your ninnydom.
You are not making sense, but what's new. I was making it to the beach, but the beach I was making it to might not be worth going to.
ninnydom=good one
Simmer Down Now
Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.
Peter always makes sense to me....always.
ehyou, do I sense sarcasm?
I look forward to the Luper Lupehole. NCAA can't stop the Tiger Prowl!
Former San Antonio neighbors, who moved to "Milton County" right before we left Cobb, are arriving this afternoon and spending the night. They are super nice folk but they aren't into hockey.
Penguins vs Habs at 7.
Hottie suggestions?
So why is it again that the NCAA doesn't want the coaches to go to the beach in a limo?
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
CHB = we'd been contemplating a quick beach trip too in that same timeframe. I believe our plans will likely change significantly. I blame Al Gore. Oh, and SteveFC just because I feel like it.
THT...
Here's your answer.
I like the guy wearing it while biking.
ehyou - that would look just a bit odd at the dinner table. Maybe I'll just tell them I have more pressing matters to attend to in the basement and that I'll see them in the off-season. Oops, I mean in the morning.
THT, get a DVR to record it. Then after they go to bed you can watch it.
CH=B - that's what I'll do, but I probably won't watch it. I'm not a fan of non-live sporting events, unless it's old AU Iron Bowl wins.
i was lmao watching the trailer for that thing. hilarious.
Buncha slackers
I'll do it.
Boom!
New page smell.
