Morris, Fletcher earn high praise
Hey everyone. Hunter Morris and Brian Fletcher, a pair of young men who play baseball at Auburn University, were named to the All-America team today.
A deserving achievement, if you ask me.
You didn't. But if you had ...
Morris, a first baseman, was named to the first team. Fletcher, an outfielder, is part of the second team.
Morris was the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Year after leading the league in homers, RBI, slugging percentage and total bases. Not too shabby. He was a fourth-round selection of the Milwaukee Brewers last week.
(It's pronounced "mill-e-wah-kay," which is Algonquin for "the good land.")
His final line looked a little something like this: .386-23-76.
Fletcher went .357-22-75. He was an 18th-round pick of the Kansas City Royals.

GET SOME NORM! GET SOME!
AAAAHHHHH....a fresh page.
Do what?
Oh.
So, 2 UGA game tickets needed.
Ahhhhh...mysteries solved. That's good stuff.
Unfortunately I will miss my first real puppet hour so I can through Atlanta traffic to make it home for my kids' swim meet. Another day, I suppose.
PF - don't you sleep with the enemy? So are you really asking for one ticket for an AU fan and one for a GA fan?
It happens every day. It's been pretty lame through the spring. Most good puppet hours are dependent on Michael and Harrison both being present, but Harrison appears to be on a six month vacation.
I'm asking for two tickets for me. How I plan to use them is not yet disclosable, but I'll definitely be in one of the seats. The enemy I sleep won't be.
Yeah, this is all Harrison's fault.
well, there's really not much point in having Puppet Hour today if Baldy isn't going to be around.
I didn't realize I was the lynchpin. My first day here and I'm blowing it already. My apologies, but my kids are just so needy. They like me to be there and stuff. (I kinda like hanging out with them too though, so it's all good.) I bid you adios for the evening. Enjoyed it, and I'll be back!
Adios!
Kathy-I agree. Shameful that by this time of the year AU has not sold all of the tickets. What are those that can make the games waiting on? I understand if you are a long way off and don't buy them, but surely there are enough still in the area to buy these packages.
I'm otd a la casa. au revoir
At Baytowne in Sandestin ... Rather desolate.
i bought my 2 season tickets. that's all i could do.
We're up to 8 season tickets. Gets pricey, but it's worth it!
Loading the car to go to God's country. Be in Auburn by suppertime :)
Bon soir! I greet thee from the comforts of home. Unfortunately, a peachless home.
jealous Cincy. if you see my sis tell her hi.
i've been eating blueberries in my cereal all week THT. mrs. scottie stole my almonds & took them to work with her today. god have mercy on her soul if she doesn't bring them home!
i'm almost out. Steve Wallace Day tomorrow?
Welcome Baldy. Strap on your sarcasm cap and get ready for the ride.
sounds good, Scottie. Also Benny Sivley, Keith Uecker, and Jeno James are names that come to mind.
Rachel Morand of the Auburn Villager has an excellent interview with Coach Thigpen
In fact, it's so good, it's posted twice on that web page.
Holy Kennesaw!!!
How on earth did I miss THIS? Scottie must have mentioned it last week on HABOTN when I wasn't paying attention.
The Mindbomb show is morphing into a much better show now that it is on Sirius/XM radio. PR shows favoritism to the national callers and spoofs his previously favorite Bammer callers.
I agree Hoopie, I'm almost able to listen to it now.
It always amazes me how many Hotties are lurking...2.0 being one, perhaps LGGB another. I wish more lurkers would come out of the shadows and join the party.
Speaking of 2.0, let me inform you of something. This isn't just a fact, it is a LAW OF THE UNIVERSE.
2.0 makes THE BEST country-style steak in the whole wide world.
http://blog.al.com/live/2010/06/chamber_official_arrested_on_e.html
Pretty sure this guy is wearing a walmartian shirt in his mug shot.
All incoming players that signed in February are due to be at AU on June 20th. 3 more days.
I lurk therefore I am
Today is "Chase The Juice Day" +16 years. I was sitting in my soon-to-be ex-girlfriends apt on E Thatch Ave watching the surreal Bronco festivities.
Within days I made 2 of the best decisions of my life - ditching her and transferring to Auburn.
Here I'm is!
Like an electron, I'm both here and there at once.
call me quark-y
Call me Ishmael.
No, but I'll call you Carl.
Carl Spackler?
You're so right, Carl.
Thank you Coach.
In the 60's Carl Stephens and my Dad flew radio-controlled model airplanes at Gunter AFB. Carl typically wore bermuda shorts and sandals with black socks.
WTC ..does that mean that all of the incoming recruits are enrolled for the mini-semesterII?
Don't sell yourself short norm, you're a tremendous slouch.
For the first time in years I'm sort of watching the NBA final game. They are actually playing a modicum of defense.
That's right. Bravos showing who's the best team around.
While you're doing that Hoopie, I'm maintaining my tradition of not watching a single minute of the NBA Finals.
Bedtime for Norm.
Norm, I'm in the basement office throwing darts with the game on ...so that's sort of watching. I can see I haven't missed much.
Talking Football has picked AU to come in 2nd in the west this year. They also picked Bama #1, Ark #14 and AU #25 for the preseason. I'm not sure they though that through very well.
what is this NBA of which you speak? Could I even remotely care? Only if I wanted to disappoint Norm, which I do not. He's promised me an ice cream.
THT ..I'll even turn the game off if you think that'll help your chances to get an ice cream treat from Norm.
It's 10:45 in the EDT and I got an early appt manana, so g'nite all.
Later dood.
sweet dreams, Hotties! I'm going to dream about our next Iron Bowl win which will become reality in 5 months.
Carl Stephens is a bamer. He and Dean Foy about the only decent bamers to grace the village.
It appears the Texas legislature is tying to get Houston into the Big Texas conference. I bet it happens.
I saw Cam a few times during spring practice. He will certainly dazzle this year, and he and Gus are very close.
Night hot ones. And the first waking hottie to post in the morning will be .........
No clue. Haven't guessed correctly yet.
Well this is the first post of the 18th. Do I win?
I just read where dark side commit LaMichael Fanning is taking a look at Auburn. If I remember correctly, he lives in Auburn. Geeze, and I didn't think I got out of the house much.
I don't know about this Saban statue thing. Maybe we should one up them by erecting a statue of each player that scores for Auburn. Getting the statue up before the game was over would definitely be a plus and of course multiple scores will mean multiple statues.
I saw a preview of the statue on the internets.
The Auburn board is suppose to vote on a new in door practice facility today. In a related story, Tommy Tuberville was heard saying "son of a ...".
I got to sleep in this morning, but now it's time to rise and shine, Hotties!!!
78 days til kickoff!!
GO TIGERS!!!
WARRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
p.s. The Federal Penitentiary is a HABOTN-free work zone :-( and that's where I'm headed today. I'll see y'all this evening if I get paroled.
That's just weird. GNR's November Rain followed by The King's Kentucky Rain on my random play iTunes this morning. If one of CCR's rainy songs comes up next, that will just be scary.
whew, it's Tommy James & the Shondells.. time for me to be "running just as fast as we can" to work.
Have a great day, Hotties!
Good morning all.
I will call my connects on the board and tell them we need that indoor facility in order to continue our rise.
I like the name JaSFC
The US Open is great. I love seeing the pros struggle with an impossible course.
Ho hum.
Keep Hate Alive.
Auburn is beauiful this morning!
Happy Steve Wallace, Benny Sivley, Keith Uecker, and Jeno James #78 Day hotties!
Morning Hotties!! And ain't it a beautiful morning?!
Welcome from the lurking stage Baldy glad to have you. I dare say talk of your toilet caused nearly as much ruckus as paulmains when he first showed up. Although I'm going to have to give paulmain the avatar edge.
SOCCER
Oh, and thank you, to all the futbol fans that have now got me watching the freakin World Cup all hours of the day. I hate you all (but not anywhere near as much as I hate Bama)
Love MTD
Up yours MTD.
Agreed re: paulmain.
Thanks for not leaving me hangin Norm!!
SOCCER...
USA! USA! USA!
Norm- Someone needs to tie you to a chair and force you to watch this endless action.
Oh blow it out your @$$ MTD.
Eddie - they'll have to catch me first and it'd take a lot of rope because I'm slithery.
Norm- Jet said he would catch you and I just bring the duct tape and rope.
we're 78 days from AU football. however we're just minutes from USA futbol.
Mtd, I'm still working on getting the avatar up. When I do, it will be awash in awesomeness and will blow paulmains avatar away.
baldy - that's mighty big talk right there. Have you lurked long enough to remember paulmain's avatar? Mighty impressive indeed.
OK, so I may have overstated the awesomenity (yes it's a word, look it up) of my forthcoming avatar. I don't recall Paulmains avatar submission. I was just feeling the soothing caffeine burst of my second cup of coffee and got carried away. What was so darn special about this avatar of which you speak?
Kitty and a breast. Need I say more?
So, we having hatin w/J G this morning?
Ohhhh....well...I can't compete with that. Much like the moronic politician who apologized to BP yesterday, I hereby retract my former statement of pending avatar awesomenity.
Did I mention my toilet will also do your taxes for you? That has to be worth something.
No hating with JGT this morning if what I remember about Kevin being terminated.
apology accepted. Kitty Avatar will be hard to beat
Dang - missed that development. Damnation to the man for having me put work ahead of HABOTN.
API,
It is a kitty a breast And an AU tattoo.
Yes I looked that close.
Funny, don't actually recall the tattoo part. You must have super hi def JPG version. Please send to me.
Tattoo? I definitely don't remember that. Kitty, maybe but I wasn't looking that closely.
Well perhaps it was/is wishful thinking. I tried to find paulmain in the archives, but to no avail. Any ideas when paulmain was around?
Jkev got terminated? Bummer. That was a good segment. His on the air comments were better than his comments on the HABOTN.
Wonder where he is now?
Ummm, evidently there was a tattoo:
paulmains avatar
lets just hope the linky works
That kitty sure looks comfortable.
By the way, the U.S. is losing 2-nil to Slovenia.
SOCCER
I blame myself for the US problems, because they were doing okay before I decided to keep track online. I'm not watching anymore, they should come back and win now.
Hey, if we are putting out ticket request already here are mine:
7 clemson (clemson grads)
5 uga (ga grads)
But no upper deck please.
Thanks.
What's up with the soccer team? Guess I have to go to the "other" blog.
2-1 now, Landon Donovan has finally showed up.
and I've stopped watching
It is not much fun watching soccer on a 13" TV, but that is what we currently have at the oondo. Must recitfy that before football season! I am having so much fun fixing up my little dollhouse - don't tell Mr. Cincy I called it that :)
oondo is code for condo
I thought perhaps that Oondo was a Slovenian word for something. I was going to try to impress my friends with my newly expanded Slovenian vocabulary this afternoon at the end of the workday, saying "I'm headed to the Oondo", but now I can't. Thanks for nothing.
Baldy,
You could still try that. I'm sure your friends would be impressed.
I think I'll do just that.
Tied up at 2-2 now. MTD, keep your TV off. If the U.S. keeps this up, they'll have you to thank.
I know when my mojo goes wonky and starts messing things up for the team i cheer for.
So Auburn to get new 100yd Indoor Facility. That should help recruiting.
US got screwed
Michael- Yes it did. The USA got screwed big time by the Refs. Great comeback, but a little dissatisfying knowing we should have won.
I did not turn back to watch the game I promise!!
That was potentially the worst call in the history of organized soccer.
I reffed 12 year olds and know that is clearly a no call.
In related news, I heard that war was about to erupt between the US and Bali?
Watts Dantzler is set to announce his decision today. He is choosing between Auburn and Georgia. The decision is suppose to come at 5:00 Auburn standard time.
Check that. It is 3:00 Auburn standard time.
SFC- I thought the announcement was tomorrow?
Quote of the day:
Is this a white trash themed party, or are we in Arkansas?
Yea, I actually heard it in an episode of "Party Down" on Stars.
What I read said it was on Father's day. I thought Father's day was today, but I could be wrong.
Father's day is Sunday.
*cough*
hose job
*cough*
What is a guy from Mali doing reffing the World Cup anyway?
You are correct. Father's Day is Sunday, the 20th, unless you are in Australia or New Zealand. In that case, it isn't until September 5th.
SFC - some things never change, even the manufactured holidays. Mother's Day and Father's Day ALWAYS fall on Sunday's. Perhaps some may be lucky enough to stretch the honor out over a weekend, but the 'recognized' day is Sunday. Similarly, Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday of November, Christmas is always the 25th of December, and the 4th of July will always fall on 7/4.
You're welcome.
After reading HABOTN this morning I decided to watch a little soccer. Big mistake, I remembered why I do not like to watch international sports of any kind.
If the officials can they will screw the USA every time.
That official should be banned from calling anything above 6 year old contest of any kind.
The USA should be awarded that goal and final score should be 3-2.
According to Goldberg, the trustees approved a 120 yd; $16.5m indoor football practice facility to be paid for by the athletic dept.
They also approved a $72m Student "wellness" center. Guess we can see where those high out of state tuition $$$ get spent.
digger, for those of us who couldn't be near a tv this a.m., what was the bad call?
the call was HORRID. U.S. got screwed plain & simple. a Solovenia player had a bear hug on a US player during the play that a blatant foul but wasn't called. the tv peeps never could identify what or where the phantom call happened against the U.S.
USA scored very late in the game and got a penalty call and goal removed. The call was so bad that even the sleezebags watching the game said it was bad. In fact after watching the replay it was VERY obvious that a call should have been called against the other team.
Who's a sleezebag?
John Harkes is a former US player.
So what is the deciding factor on who moves forward in the competition? All their games keep ending in ties. I'm assuming it's # of goals?
First it's goal differential and then total goals scored. It might be head to head as well, but that hasn't always been the case.
Well beating Algeria, will take care of any problems right?
Not necessarily. We have to see what happens between England and Algeria first (they're about to kick off). If England win today, we can't have them draw when they play Slovenia b/c then it gets complicated. If they Algeria win or draw, we are in control of our own destiny.
All these ties in soccer are a bunch of BS. If I watch something for hours, I want to see a winner. Perhaps having an OT without goal keepers would do it.
We have a mega-flush toilet sighting.
Steve, take it from a soccer purist. Ties in futbol are just fine by me.
If this were college football, then yes, ties don't really do anything, but they count for something in soccer.
That's right ehyou, there it is in all it's wonder. All the power you need to suck down 25 golf balls into your sewer at once. It's glooooooooooorious.
I'd hate to be on the receiving end of a swirly from that bad boy.
That turlet don't look so tuff
baldy - henceforth, you shall be known as "The Crapper".
Congrats ? Baldy?
Yes mytd, congrats are in order. When norm bestows a name, you say "thank you" and you like it.
Mtd, I will equate my turlet's toughness to Norm's coolness. (I've never met Norm personally, but if he's as cool as he says he is, well, then, I stand behind my statement.)
The Crapper - with that logic, you have one tough toilet indeed.
I...I don't know what to say. First, I'd like to thank my mom and dad for getting me to this point...Oh, yes, and then I'd like to thank Norm...
I only hope I can live up to the responsibility that comes with such a moniker. (I probably blew it already since I thanked my parents first. I KNEW I shoulda thanked Norm FIRST.
E-Bro
I was watching ESPN2 a few minutes after the match and a guy with heavy accent said that was a terrible call. That is why I said someone watching the game not doing play by play. The play by play guys also could not believe the call.
The friday afternoon doldrums are upon us.
Oh what a surprise - small riots last night in LA. "Hey, we won! Lakers RULE! Let's go break some stuff! Help me turn this car on its side. Goooo Lakers!"
The Crapper - I see nothing wrong with that. As a lifelong Braves fan and now a resident of the area, I'll look on the bright side and say the Braves win it all to send Bobby "Wife Beater" Cox and Chipper "Adulter" Jones out on a winning note. Then, I look forward to participating in mini-riots even if I have to start one myself.
I never have seen so much excitement about a scoreless draw. I mean, how much effort does it take to not score. I am pretty sure I could go out there and not score. This soccer stuff is nuts.
"I am pretty sure I could go out there and not score."
No doubt.
I have an emergency at home and have to leave the office now. It seems my garage refrigerator is overloaded and needs to be emptied by 12oz. It's likely I'll have to repeat the process more than once.
Wish me luck.
Keep Hate Alive dadgumit.
Norm keeping in shape with the fluid ounce curls.
Norm, you make a good point. If the Braves keep this up, we may see you on the evening news in a few months getting lit up with an policeman's taser after you toss a brick through the local drug store window. And, yet, after flopping around on the ground for a few minutes in agony, your coolness will survive.
You got to admire the creativity of the people of Los Angeles. Something good happens, trash the city. Something bad happens, trash the city. Bored, trash the city. Those are some wacky people out there in Los Angeles.
Hottie Ho!
Thought for sure we'd have a new thread while I was incarcerated. AU will have 100 yd indoor practice facility next year!
Does anyone doubt that Koman Coulibaly is a bammer?
Pardon me for a few minutes while I back up and read all of today's posts.
If AU ever brings home a championship, I imagine I might lose my mind too though and just start breaking stuff in glee. Gotta lead my kids by example, ya know.
Baldy - if such happens, I will stop in mid sentence, get in my car, and drive 500 miles faster than Danica Patrick... but not as prettily.
...but with the trunk full of toilet paper.
I love being in Auburn. It makes me so happy. I can't wait to move here. That is all, go back to whatever you were doing.
I bet it will be even more fun with gradchildren!!!
And grandchildren, before they become gradchildren. I don't do so well typing on other people's computers.
I'm afraid the puppets are getting the best of us today.
MY DOGS ARE BAAAAAAARKIN!

at your goats?
No. It's a figure of speech. I think it means I just killed a sasquatch or something. I'm no good with figures of speech.
now I know Michael's real name. It's Tim Peeler
Great Down Unders! Who's our Kiwi Hottie?
After reading the story, I must admit that I didn't believe Peeler. But after watching the video and hearing his captivating theatrical story, I am tended to think it might be true. Well, either that or his wife needs a shave.
It is confronting to know that you can chase off a 10 foot Bigfoot by saying "git" over and over again. Remember folks, the key word is "git".
Well, you'll be confronted to know that I made it home in time and my refrigerator may survive. My work continues.

Yeah feeling very confronted right now.
Norm - make a post for every refrigerator resuscitation and we may get another flip tonight.
Does anyone else think it will be weird to have a giant building right between the 2 outdoor AU practice fields? I wonder how much shade it will create and if that will impact the turf. ...I know, but what else is there to talk about?
THT - happy to oblige. The refrigerator has already been resuscitated more than once.
The first story I read today said the indoor facility would be built over the current artificial turf practice field (it's sandwiched between the two real grass fields). I couldn't see how that would work. Run out of bounds and WHAM!!! into a brick wall.
But here's an updated story with artist rendition. They will turn two fields 90 degrees from what they are now
Look out folks!!! I see a heated discussion of the growth of grass coming on.
I desperately need some football and not any of this soccer football. Soccer football as phone sex is to sex. It just isn't the same.
You'll have to flip it without me. Hot Wife, F4* and I are heading out to eat.
I disagree. I pay a lot for AU football. I don't pay for soccer.
I suspect we might save the flip for you, Norm. Have a delightful dinner.
New thread UPZ.
Sorry for the delay.
