Auburn Arena video
Not much to it, but you may get a better sense of the arena's size with this.

Nice stuff.
Cool. Thanks for the effort.
Norm's a punk.
That I may be, but I'm right positive I can dunk it from one of those goals.
Can you dunk a basketball from a standing start, Norm?
How about if we let you start by jumping off a RAID server?
lots of round ball substance. nice work.
That center court AU looks HUGE!! Nice digs.
man, i bet those players are really going to miss the hot box to practice in!
A standing start? From one of those, absolutely.
RAID server, you just looked that up didn't you? I see you're trying to be all cool and stuff.
Ben Bailey aka WTC just scared the crap out of some octogenarian looking couple on Cash Cab when he hit the lights.
Did they poo themselves, Norm?
Basketball substance in the middle of (almost) football season. thanks Jay you work too hard.
I didn't see Ben wrinkle his nose indicating an accidental poo by the geezers, but they may have needed to change their Depends. Assuming so, the $550 they won probably eased that embarrassment. They were some funny old folks.
Oh sure, the video was simple, but that music at the beginning had me wanting to do a jig of something and I don't even know what a jig is.
Mr. Tate: Check you FB inbox.
I guess the taller doors and the bigger drier explain.
Lebo couldn't get a big man to come to Auburn because the doors at BEMC were too low.
I heart Auburn Arena.
Thanks for the superb coverage, JayG.
wassup hotties. good pics jay. did i hear that the design of the arena would allow for some expansion later...not huge expansion, but small. Jay?
I believe further expansion involves the controversial lap seating program. I don't think it will get off the ground.
that made me dizzy. But the view from the scholarship seats was sweeeet.
A cool video to prepare for the coming season.
SteveFC,
That video gets me so excited for Auburn football. It's time! Thanks for posting.
I am so glad Atlanta traded Escobar. I think they got a good deal in Gonzalez. Escobar really irritated me.
yep, Cincy. I think that trade will get the BC coach off the hot seat.
I'm sooooo ready for football season to start. Can't wait to see Hotties on Sept 4.
But right now I'm on a shorter countdown... 85 minutes til Psyche.
Thanks Cincy. It has me pumped too.
I have read where Phil Steele predicts we will start out 11-0. Looking at the schedule, it is possible. Both LSU and Georgia have been a bit off lately.
But my big worry comes early in the season when we play MSU, Clempson, and South Carolina. That is going to be a tough stretch.
I know it's favorable in that we get a lot of these top teams at home, but it all looks tough to me. Kentucky figures to be as good as last year when they beat us.
Ole Miss will fall back into the role that Houston Nutt loves so well...under the radar. There will be no easy game. I'll be shocked if we start 10-1 or 11-0.
Bigger doors, bigger washing machines... but what's up with the same dinky folding chairs for the players? You'd think they could find some chairs a 6'8" guy could sit in without his chin bumping his knees.
Bobby Johnson retiring bums me out. I really liked him. He's a good dude. I can't say that about all SEC coaches.
I just wonder if he struggled to get over Kwane Doster being murdered in 2004 and having his top recruit this year, Rajaan Bennett, murdered by an out-of-control family member.
I would struggle with that. I could see him trying to reckon it throughout the spring and early summer and finally getting to a point where you say: I can't do this. It's not getting better.
You could be correct Jay. I respect what Johnson did at Vandy. Just looking at the Ws and Ls doesn't tell the story. He made Vandy competitive and that isn't easy. He also put the first nail in the coffin of Tuberville with that 13-14 upset.
Jay, I know it would be unethical for you to list the coaches in the SEC that aren't good guys, but would you mind supplying a list of SEC coaches that are good guys? That is positive and upbeat.
It's a official. Just saw it on WSFA in the Gump.
Terry Bowden in a purple golf shirt = Oompaloompa.
Rudi Johnson.
Rudi Johnson!
RUDI JOHNSON!
2 notes:
- Glad to hear Bobby Johnson is retiring on his own terms and not forced to by health issues.
- There was some serious talent at the ESPYs tonight, and I'm not talking about the athletes.
Vincent "Bo" Jackson
CEO/Philanthropist/Crusher of Softballs
Didn't see it mentioned in previous threads, but Bonomolo was cleared by everybody's second favorite clearinghouse (second only to Publisher's Clearinghouse)and is now ready to roll. (If it was mentioned already, my apologies for being redundant. And also, if it was mentioned already, my apologies for being redundant.)
Augh. I hate seeing things like this, but it's apparently my lot in life.
You know how in poetry, sometimes you take a letter or two out of a word so it fits the meter better? "O'er the ramparts we watched," "'Twas the night before Christmas," etc.? You put the apostrophe in where the letter got removed.
Now look at the fight song mural. "On to vic'try." NO NO NO! It should be "On to vict'ry," dangit! Or just spell out the whole word, it's not that big a difference.
I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't look at these things too closely.
Not going to list em, Steve.
Nope.
Dang Jay, I thought for sure my clever ploy would get you. I will work on it.
Good morning, Hotties! We're one day closer to Auburn football!
Jay, awesome job on the arena tour. Thanks!
51 days til kickoff!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
WARRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
Feng,
I'm not sure I agree with what you said, but I love the way you said it.
Jay G,
Instead of a list of the nice guys, can you just give us a list of the people that don't need a good swift kick in the groin?
Love being able to watch Tiger tee off today while at the gym. Nice to have live sports during the work out. Also, loving the Old Course.
I've decided that we need an ITunes App for Habotn. Surely a fellow hottie could make it happen.
Yep. Nothing like watching live golf at 4:30 in the morning. Daly was gettin' after it early on. I guess Tiger is now.
Good morning, can someone give me the history of this Feng person?
Thanks for the pictures and video of the new Arena. It's looks even better in person.
Daly was on fire. Should have had it to 8 under, but finished up at 6 under. Not bad at all. Tiger just entering the toughest stretch on the course at 5 under. God thing I'm bidding work at a hotel in the lobby area. Get to watch it all day.
CH=B,
Feng remains a mystery. You don't question him and his endless knowledge, you just accept it and use it to change your life.
Just watched the vid Steve posted, and yeah, it's go time baby!!
On the drive in they were interviewing Matt Stinchcomb on ATL sports radio. First I can't believe that he and David Pollack went to the same school, and am now convinced Pollack did not actually attend ANY classes. Matt talked about the 3-4 and that the emphasis there was the nose tackle and the interior LB's. I also had another thought in the 3-4 defense and how it will work against our offense. And I realized again that the much heralded defense from the other side of the state could not stop it in its tracks. And this with all of those now NFL guys on their side. I'm feeling better. Sure we have some things to find out about our offense, but I realized again, the offensive scheme is a good one, as long as our guys (particularly the QB) are healthy.
Feng is much like Michael's business. You really just don't ask about it.
Good morning Hot Ones!!
Bull Honkey
That wasn't directed at you mytd, just a general declaration.
The concern that I have is was it the offense and just lack of execution or was it the scheme that LSU and Kentucky used last year to completely shut us down?
If it was just our execution, then I feel better, if there is something in those LSU and Kentucky videos that other teams can use, then I don't know.
I think Kentucky/LSU was a combo of personnel, execution. I agree with you RK as you've stated often in the pass, Gustav's situational play calling needs some refinement, but I think part of the issues with the offense last year were indicative of a first year unit where both the coach and players are familiarizing themselves with each other.
I expect there to be a much higher comofort level this year. It all just depends on whether Cam can take the reins.
I thought it was decided that LSU and especially UK issues were because of guys being hurt, more than the scheme. I'm not sure where I remember that from, but I'm certain it was mentioned here. Once C Todd got "better" everything seemed to fall back into place offensively.
I want to see our offense run at ludicrous speed. We saw one moment of it last year when we had UT absolutely gassed. I want to see that again.
I want to see it all fall.
revrrr
I want Gus to live up to the hype that he gets and us to put up tons and tons of points. However, much like Cam Newton so far, he's still unproven at this level.
I doubt any D could stop us if we execute perfectly, there's too much diversity and options. But nothing is ever perfect and you gotta find a way to win on the days when it's not.
Offensive fireworks are great, and I won't turn them away, but if forced to choose, I could live with a dull offense if we could have a defense like '57, '72, '88, etc. Nothing is more fun to watch than an AU defense that won't allow the other team to breathe.
Secondaid - I sure wish you hadn't pointed that out to me. If and when I ever get to the new Arena, I may have paint, brush, and stencil in hand.
I hadn't heard about Bama suing Daniel Moore for royalties.
"...the man who has painted the art thousands of Alabama fans have pleasured themselves to for over three decades now..."
ehyou - I bet you found Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress and played girl bunny.
Norm's here.
Nerd alert!
RK...I think calling Gustav unproven at this level is a little harsh. He needs more refinement and he's certainly not the architect of the country's most unstoppable offense (yet), but he did have some good results last year against good teams. Not sure anybody did as well against Bama's defense as we did. Did some really nice things agaisnt a good Tennessee defense and a good Ole Miss defense as well.
So he's proven this offense works in the SEC. It's all about consistency now.

I'm so glad Feng sticks around.
Surely he's a Ring of Fire guy, right?
Homer - absolutely he is. He's so helpful with the links he provides us, great information there.
Is it for cheap Viagra? I've never clicked one one of his links because, well, something tells me it's not going to net me a date with Jenna Fischer.
actually, I think it's a link for a date with Carrie Fischer.
or Fisher, take your pick.
Ummm, It's not cheap Viagra, but you don't want what Feng's selling. Don't ask me how I know this...
THT,
I'm a defensive guy as well. I'd much rather watch a D just not give anything than watch an offense roll up 50...well unless we have a D that gives up nothing and an offens that rolls up 50 at the same time.
e-bro,
Maybe it was a little harsh, but I'm still not sold. I can quickly be convinced. I think his scheme on paper is great and one that is hard to stop. His in-game play calling is more where my concern lies.
whattup.
yall watch any of the ESPY's last nite? what i saw was some fine television programming.
Digging in a drawer at my desk I ran across a mix-CD an ex-girlfriend made for me back circa 2002. It's full of just awful music that I would have never listened to at any point in my life, but laughing at it has been the highlight of the morning.
I'm sure that wasn't her intention.
nice RK. i had a stalker girl one time that make me a cd. don't think i ever listened to it. totally freaked me out. haha.
give us a sample of the songs on there.
I'm gonna be with RK on this one. A defense that allows less than 5 points a game, and doesn't let an opposing offense cross the 50 until somethime in the middle of the 4th quarter AND an offense that can literally score when it decides it wants to score.
As for FENG and Feng land, some parts pretty, some parts not so nice... so I've heard.
I think Feng is SC's main competitor in the chocolate peddling business. that is why they don't get along.

Crush by Dave Matthews Band (this would be the only one that I actually have on CD)
That's the short list...
There you have it, 16 songs of pure crap and one DMB song all on one CD and it can be yours if you act now.
Send $17.99 plus postage and handling to my front door, dig through my garabage and find the CD-R with random hearts drawn on it and it can be yours.
Be the first customer within the next 2 hours and I'll throw in lunch at your cost.
I'm serious, some of the worst cheese ever put on an album.
wow. this is what really got me:
"Bottom of My Broken Heart by Britney Spears"
too AUsome for words. ha.
I guess I appreciate the thought, but if I remember correctly I dated this girl 4 months and this CD was the beginning of the end.
For what it's worth she she should be happy to know that it did make me smile today. Maybe not for the reason she wanted it to.
Seriously she drew hearts on it?
you know who i heart?
BEASLEY!
and HELLO KENNESAW, JAWGA!
Yes, sadly yes.
...and that kids is why 25 year olds don't date 18 year olds.
werk - I don't recognize a single song and a couple of the "artists" aren't familiar to me either.
I've probably mentioned it here previously but that CD reminds me. 10 years or so ago, within one year I took my daughter and one of her friends to see their first concert. The first one we saw was Britney Spears and the second was NSync. Each was absolutely awful coming from a dude who's attended more concerts than I can count. But the little girls loved them. I did really enjoy watching the people there. Had I been a 20-something single guy, either one of those concerts would have absolutely been THE place to be. There was some definite talent on display. I got a particular kick out of watching a young couple sitting next to me at one of them. These two boys seemed destined to be hair stylists, interior decorators or maybe something working with flowers. They were hugely entertaining to watch.
RK...I agree he still has more to prove and we're in agreement about his in-game management and play calling. Like I said, just a little more refinement.
He's shown he can mix it up with the big boys, just needs to learn to keep the throttle down.
Norm, back in 2000 or 2001, i can't remember but i took my 2 younger sisters to see NSync. the opening act was Sisquo & the 'Thong Song'. when all those girls came out shaking their butts in thongs you should've seen all the parents around us. absolutely hilarious!
Homer, very nice pics and video. The arena looks like a great place to watch a basketball game in. Hope we can fill it up and have many wins. Not much room around the court but enough I guess.
If Tiger were to blame Stevie again at another major, I would hope that Stevie would take Tiger back to the parking lot and say ...
"You know who misclubbed? Elin."
Then Stevie shold pull out a pitching wedge and say, "It shouldn't have been an easy 9-iron, it should have been a hard 8."
Then he could crack another one on Tiger's dome.
Tiger can blame me all he wants if he's paying me millions of dollars and giving me a small jet for personal use.
Yes, please, may I have another!
I remember a couple of years ago, if you took Steve Williams' earnings as Tiger's caddy he would have been in the top 30 on the money list for that year.
Back to football:
My concern with Gus last year was that he became predictable in certain situations. If AU got 5-6 yards on 1st down, the offense would line right back up and run a dive play up the middle. By about game 4 or 5, the announcers were even saying something about it. AU did it ALL SEASON long. Defenses eventually lined up quickly and stopped that play. That put AU in a hole with 3rd down. One of several reasons AU had a large number of 3 and outs. And to make it worse, AU would only take 50 seconds to run the 3 plays. I would have preferred a pass play on 2nd down. At least if it was incomplete, the clock stopped and the O could take a breather and the D could take a breather also.
But thats part of the system wtc - no one's supposed to get a breather. However, I remember everyone talking about the dive play on 2nd. Maybe it takes effect in the 2nd quarter after the defense gets tired of trying to get to the line so much.
I also remember someone saying that when they were at the Tulsa bowl game before Gus came here, they could tell what kind of play was going to be run by the big board they used.
Not sure if that was in issue last year either, just sayin there may be a lot of things that we've yet to see.
as tommyd kills the thread talking about speed
this thread doesn't show your break away speed.
See its not so much speed its my quickness. I'm much more elusive than I appear.
Do not question Gus. In Gus we trust.
He is not nearly as predictable as some coaches we have had in the past. Remember when we ran the run, run, pass, punt offense?
Or how about that great guy in the early 90s who loved the shotgun. Eventually a few clever individuals caught on that if we were in the shotgun we would pass and if we were in the I, we would run.
Gus is the man. Appreciate him while we have him.
And I didn't even get into the bubble screen from hell offense.
not that anyone is really interested, but Bo Jackson, Frank Thomas, & Gregg Olsen are part of the Tri-Star's National Autograph Show in a few weeks. if you're interested CLICK HERE FOR AUBURN LEGENDS AUTOGRAPH INFORMATION.
Way too cool Jay, thanks a lot for the video and pictures. I am starting to think that we indeed got a lot for the money spent. WAR EAGLE everybody. I haven't been around much of late, but have been lurking once in awhile.
Welcome back IV. I was wondering where you had been.
IV!!!!! Thanks for stopping by, been wondering about ya.
The only SEC team I felt we greatly wore down other than our on defense was Tennessee.
The up tempo offense slowed down quite a bit in the second half of the season. We did see some of it in the Iron Bowl, but in general, I think we were trying to protect the defense later in the season.
Last year we needed the offense to be a bit slower just to save our own defense. However the 3 and outs with some predictible play calling really wore out our on D last year.
Hopefully with more depth on D this year we can open up the O a bit more.
I am excited about seeing how many of these incoming freshmen end up getting playing time, particularly the linebackers.
Also, Eguae should be interesting. The coaches sounded excited about him last season. He could end up being a playmaker at DE.
me too SFC. i wanna see Nosa!
Defensively, last year was very disappointing. In 2007 and 2008 we had some of the better defenses we have had. The lack of offense really hurt them, particularly in 2008. Hopefully this season we will get enough depth that we will be good to go.
If we score a lot, hopefully that will mean playing time for some of these younger players. We need to develop some experience for the 2011 team. We have about 24 players that will run out of eligibility this season. That is the most I can remember in a long time.
I really shouldn't bash last years defense that much. After all, when is the last time we gave up over 600 yards of offense in a game and won. That 2009 team didn't have depth, but those guys had a lot of heart.
Huge heart in that defense, especially with the leaders. And with the depth coming on, they may not know what to do with themselves not having to play every down. But I'm sure they'll figure out something.
TommyD-I agree it is part of the process to wear down the defense, but telegraphing that 2nd down after a big gainer on 1st is a dive play is not any way to run the offense. how about lining up quickly and throwing a slant route, deep route, sweep, anything but the same play each time.
Don't get me wrong. i am fine with gus's style of offense. I like points on the board. Most of the time, if you outscore your opponent you will win. I just don't want to make it easier for the defense to figure out what you
are doing.
wtc - my sentiments exactly
In my opinion, last year the offense had to do what it could to help preserve the defense. I think you saw that a great deal in the Outback Bowl, thus triple overtime in a game against a team that we were overall much better than. I think that this year will be a lot different due mostly because of Cam Newton, better receiver play and depth at linebacker. I think that Gus had his foot on the brake for much of the time last season and for good reason. I know one thing, I am ready for some FOOTBALL. Bring it on.
"Most of the time, if you outscore your opponent you will win."
Any game in which we outscore the opponent a lose, the head coach should be fired.
We have found a scenario where Steve would call for the firing of a football coach.
As for Cam, we shall season. There are a lot of similarities between him and Kodi. Cam was a five star on rivals. Kodi was a five star on scout. I am counting on the fact that Cam will have Malzahn to bring him along. Kodi kind of got thrown to the wolves before he was ready.
Cam has about half a foot on Kodi in size, so that helps.
Ladarious Phillips may end up being the most interesting member of this incoming class. While one of the lower rated, I had assumed we picked him up late to play DT. It seems Gustav has different ideas.
True RK, and they both run in the 4.5 range, so Cam is fast for his size.
Should anyone be fired for seasoning Cam?
Fortunately Cam already has some seasoning from Florida and Blinn. I hope we see a very intelligent QB that plays like a veteran.
Do we know what day practice starts?
I have read where it hasn't been made definite yet, but it should be the 3rd, 4th, or 5th.
WTC ...
I concur. We either ran on 2nd down (after the quick snap)or, when in the opponents' red zone, threw deep to the corner.
Get first downs because that buys you three more plays at least. I would be interested to know how we did on 2nd down last year. I'll bet we weren't very good.
Even with all the 3 and outs we had, recall how many ridiculous 3rd down conversions we had as well.
I've said it before, and I admit it's peculiar ... I prefer an incrementally faster tempo -- get one first down before you mash it.
On the Ladarious Phillips. Cool thing to have an offense that keeps the defense guessing at where the ball may be, and now there's the possibility of something the size of a truck going 50 mph that might have the ball. Cool!
Not a run based offense... riiiiiight.
In general, we were bad on short yardage last season. Hopefully Cam and Phillips will have an influence.
In terms of spreading the ball around, it would really help if we have a couple of more receivers step up. I hope to see Benton have a breakout year.
i'm all for Cam following L.Phillips following Ziemba into the secondary. boom-boom-boom!
I think running the dive play on second down works just fine, but only after you've gained a first down.
When it's the second play of the drive, it was worthless, but when we move the chains and get the pace of the offense going, I like the dive play just fine. That's the biggest key to this offense (or was last year): picking up a first down and moving the chains. Once we did that, we were usually cooking with gas.
wrong. we should run it EVERY PLAY!!!!!!!
....or maybe not.
Will Kodi be the one running the Wildcat?
i wouldn't think Gus needs him too.
ebro...
Unfortunately you can't close a parenthese and follow it with a colon. In today's age that's a backward frowny face.
;) I'll give you a winky face because I'm being a smart-arse.
If it's not Kodi in the wildcat, then I like our short yardage situations a little better.
E-Bro is right. I would like to see our scoring % if we got a first down within the 1st 2 plays of a drive.
72%
I like Kodi going deep out of the wildcat. If unsuccessful to the left then do the same play to the right, that'll fool 'em.
That reminds of the bowl game for some reason.
:P
(:^D
Kodi was great before defenses realized he wasn't going to throw the ball and if he did, it would be a good thing for them. The 2007 MSU game was a great example. He tore them a new one in the first half. In the second half we were doomed. Kodi worked well when he occasionally went in for Cox. As a change of pace, it worked well.
Eventually Kodi reminded me of a baseball movie where the pitcher called his outfield in, saying, come on in. He ain't swinging.
After looking at several of the youtube videos of Phillips, I'm surprised he didn't have a better alternative waiting for him than Ga Southern if AU didn't come calling. (Not that GA southern is bad, but he's a load. That goal line set up should be pretty fun to see with Eric Smith and maybe Phillips leading the way. I think this is a better video than the one posted on Evan's AL.com story (not just because of the awesome 70's "Bow chicka bow bowwwwwrrr" music that accompanies it.) This dude is a 1 star recruit??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPH4xIH8Zic
deja vu...or am I just psychic?
Phillips is kind of one of those in between players. He is fast for a linemen, but a bit too big and runs too straight up for a RB. His size gave him the edge in high school. In college he will likely be good in situations, but he doesn't have the cutting ability or acceleration to be an every down back. Most of the video shows him simply overpowering people. Things will be different in the SEC. Hopefully he gets his size down to the 250 to 260 range and runs less straight up.
Phillips will be an All American in 2013. 100% sure.
i was extended an offer from vandy to coach there beginning in 2011. the offer consisted of $11/hr, a chrysler lebaron with 120K miles on it, free tix to all women's sports and all the gatorade i could drink.
pass...
i would hope the read option will replace the wildcat to some degree. i would like to see a healthy stallworth or trovon reed as wildcat qb if they are going to run it. we don't want cam getting beat up running in the sec if he does not absolutely have to.
I thought he showed some pretty good speed for a big man, and shows capability to play several different positions. He looks like a good under the radar type player and I am surprised nobody else in the SEC thought him worthy of a spot.
i thought his team's uniforms sucked. looks like a slower and less agile brandon jacobs. maybe yox can get him down to 250 by 2011 and turn him into a complete monster.
Agreed that the crimson uniforms are replete with much suckitude.
I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.
I believe I read where Phillips runs a 4.8/40. That is Brandon Cox type speed, but at his size, it's pretty darn good.
I bet he didn't run that at 290.
iPad therefore I am online.
Does your imbedded video use flash JG? It doesn't show up on the pad.
Yes, Jay Video requires a flasher.
I use Adobe flash player 10. It works well for me.
NoVa - it is flashy, at least that's my assumption. When I right click on the video window, one of the menu options is "about adobe flash player 10"
oh well, video can wait until the new computer is set up.
ipads are lame. Unless I get one, whence they will be cool.
They're saying the oil leak has been plugged. That's pretty cool.
Yea, the oil spill getting stopped should help out a lot of things. Now if they can just come up with a way to make sure it doesn't happen again.
A person familiar with the investigation says the NCAA is looking at North Carolina's football program.
yep, it's on the news up here.
My first thought was UNC has a football program?
Does the basketball team know?
the football team exists as consolation for all the people who want to see UNC play but can't get basketball tickets
That seems like rather poor consolation.
I asked a couple of threads back, but I didn't see if any answered. Are there any Hotties that are members of the Birmingham Auburns Club? I was thinking about joining and wondering if it was worth it.
CHB...
No
Here is an interesting thought. After Miles is fired at the end of the season, is there any ex-LSU head coach that might return to resurrect the program?
Bo Rein?
A few stats from 2009 to pass sthe time away:
Punt Return Avg:
AU 4.46 yards
Opponent 12.92 yards
Fumbles:
Total-Lost
AU 28-14
Opponent 15-8
Penalties
AU 97-847 yards
Opponent 59-466 yards
Fourth down conversions:
AU 4 of 14
Opponent 15 of 24
People just go to sporting events to watch a cheerleader crash.
RUshing Offense:
3rd down 1-3 to go: 4.25 yards
3rd down 4-6 to go: 2.00 yards
3rd down 7-9 to go: -3.89 yards
3rd down 10+ to go: -2.67 yards
Not a good rushing stat on 3rd and long last year.
Okay, I made the mistake of reading bleacher report and apparently this schedule is the most favorable schedule we have had since 2004. Ummmm, huh? I do think we played a wee bit tougher schedule in 2004.
WTC ...
I wonder how much sacks affected those numbers on 3rd and long. I wonder how many times we ran on 3rd and long.
No one on here probably cares about the AU gymnastics program, but just read where Jeff Thompson is leaving to take head coaching job at Penn State. I hate that - he has done some great things at Auburn.
i wonder how many times a wildcat formation on 2nd down led to a third and long.
how many of those 4 of 14 fourth down conversions were a qb sneak or pass to adams?
Ran on 3rd and long:
3rd down 1-3 to go: 36 times
3rd down 4-6 to go: 11 times
3rd down 7-9 to go: 9 times
3rd down 10+ to go: 9 times
i figured dinardo and hallman would never get another shot on bayou.
ran to run or running for life on 3rd?
top 3 rushing totals against AU:
Kentucky 282
Arky 221
Ole Miss 219
WVU 207
worst rushing team against AU in 2009:
UAt 73
Furman 87
Northwestern 93
La Tech 96
I wish i could get the stats for the # of 2nd down wildcats that led to a 3rd down and how many were converted to 1st downs. i would think 0% of 2nd down wildcats were converted to 1st downs.
Wathed CSS football tonight. All panelist thought AU would be very good on offense this year. Question was then asked if going into the IB would there be 2 undefeated teams. The only answer was, you have to stop the other team from scoring. So maybe they are thinking UAt's defense is going to be worse than many in the country are thinking.
that is still a pretty impressive number for northwestern considering they threw 70+ or whatever it was.
AU proved if you can keep ingram and richardson from breaking a big run for a cheap score, they get frustrated and lose confidence and the whole turd offense sputters. not very easy to do, but effective. if AU any kind of pass rush, we win the IB by 14. mcelroy had to be perfect on the final drive and, to his credit, was.
good teams can turn into great ones if you simply have a guy or two on offense that can give you some cheap points and maybe an average or above average d that can generate a score every few games through returns or turnovers deep in the opponent's territory. 14 easy points and an offense that can grind out another 17-21 was the turd's recipe for success in 2009.
AU having such a ridiculously bad punt return game is a real hidden killer. how many time did arenas get the turds out of a hole and a short field?
yikes! big flip.
total late nite thread domination by wtc and chippy!
we are setting the tone for the AU offense!
