Getting Our Bearings
I am hopeful that Brian Woodham, who recently left a part-time gig with ITAT to take a full-time job as a copy editor at the Advertiser, will be given an opportunity to take my old job. Brian would be a great addition. I'll let you know if I hear anything about that.
As I explained on Facebook, we will have a board at AuburnSports.com with a stricter standard when it comes to cussing and any off-putting shenanigans. Personally, I'm good with the Bunker and have read it for a long time. They get a little upset when things don't go well, which is understandable, but I feel like that board's reputation for savage commentary far exceeds reality.
With that said, we will have a HABOTN-esque board over there for people whose tolerance for cussing is at zero. Just want to make that clear.
I'll be starting at AuburnSports.com on Monday.
Take care, errybody. Thanks as always for your support!

Hey AllenD!
PF doing some solo work. Nice.
2026: A Mars rover discovers more dirt.
no one has yet covered the 2017 and beyond recruiting cycles. nobody here keeps up with how the nationally ranked middle school teams are doing?
Eddie McCoy meant to say...
2024- Year of the BEASLEY x 23
That warms my heart and makes my day!
2027 - Research proves that potato chips prevent stroke and heart attack.
2028- Research now shows that Potato chips actually cause strokes and Heart Attacks
2029- Pat Dye is still alive and sponsored by Crane Works.
2031- LEAP YEAR!
Is Sara going to get on here and defend the keyboard mutilating accusations?
2032: MJT purchases a water proof keyboard.
You know what that woman said when we moved into the new house? "No food or drink upstairs!!!!!"
Who is spilling drinks on keyboards? Who is leaving her cups and plates on the banister? WHO GETS CRUMBS IN MY BED UPSTAIRS? I won't say who, but it's someone.
So you aren't going to say who, but you think someone is crumby in bed?!?
Michael is it you or the kids?
we'll be out of water by 2032, so it won't be an issue.
"crumby in bed" - bubbs you are too clever.
Oh bubbs, quit busting my chops buddy!
2037 - Norm becomes introspective. He looks back on his life, his accomplishments, his failures, his ups, his downs, and is ultimately disappointed.
Why wait until 2037? Avoid the rush and be perpetually disappointed now.
2038 - Willie Nelson gets busted for marijuana possession.
Rutgers and South Florida? They couldn't do better than that? Yawn.
2039 - Fans roll the huge genetically engineered Toomer's live oaks.
Sorry, MJT. I tried to resist the comment but just couldn't.
2039: PF gets approved for parole.
rental cars are way too expensive this fall. what's the deal? Speaking of deals, I could use one.
well, it was another lonely campfire night. A single Visitor stopped by just long enough to blurt out "c" and left.
Dang missed a page flip..again.
Evening Norm.
Evening Bubbs
evening THT, ice cream?
yep, had a big bowl with Hershey's chocolate syrup on top.
Morning AllenD et al.
Mornin everybody
Morning
Morning! Glorious day in Auburn!
War Eagle.
Hey AllenD!
How did this happen? How can I not already have a win penciled in against LaMo?
Mornin' y'all.
Good morning!
2054 - Most of the middle aged Hotties are dead. God willing, MJT, Ebro, bubbs, Eddie, PF, and a few others are still here posting in this thread.
I better be dead about 20 posts ago.
2055 My kids finally get their college degrees.
MJT with the morbid predictions. I do have it on good authority that people will be immortal by 2016.
Ha! Shows you how much you know there MJT. I'm already working on my robot body. All I have to do is plop my brain in there and take over the world with the elite group of others like me. We will call ourselves the Titans and change our names to Greek Philosophers.
Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die?
I don't mean to sound so glum. It sounds a lot less cryptic when Wayne Coyne says it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zYOKFjpm9s
Anything going on tonight?(In Auburn) I am not going to watch high school football. Wife & child are still out of town.
Dunno, bigdaddy. Sounds like you could decide on hunting down some Palmetto Pimento Cheese.
Impress the wife and clean up the house, bigdaddy. Do laundry, fold the clothes, scrub the baths, organize the fridge and the pantry, and so on. Listen to an educational podcast while you work.
Or play video games (but still listen to the educational podcast).
Recent history shows I usually plan on option 1 but end up executing option 2.
What are you calling "educational" pod-casts? Things like, "100 more ways to skin a cat," "The Shuffle: a How to by Norm," "10 Steps to Better Posting Efficiency?"
Or are you really just talking Jan Terri's Greatest Hits on loop?
Mostly magician training courses.
Bubbs as I do like Palmetto Pimento Cheese I do not think I will be hunting any down tonight.
Michael, my parents were in town for a few night's and my mom did some of that stuff already. Of course my wife will think I did it.
So I guess it will be a night of video games!!
I think I'm about to stop keeping up here. There are too many destinations now.
Keep in mind that we have:
Burn Thority (which I can't see)
1.0 (here)
2.0 (there)
The GTR forum (preferred)
... and others than pop up from time to time.
I can't keep up with them all.
I'm still not posting too much over at the Rivals site. No particular reason, I just don't. But I read everything (forums included) over there.
It's a big enough umbrella...but it's always me that ends up getting wet.
bubbs, please delete that 2039 post. I do not need your bad mojo. seriously just effed up my night.
Norm, 2036 was brilliant. the thoughts of marijuana still being illegal and Willie Nelson still being alive are both hilarious. Then again, Government is becoming more and more like that in the historical books I read, and medicine is becoming more and more like that in the sic-fi books I read, so who knows. LONG LIVE WILLIE.
MJT with the Flaming Lips. That song is creepy as all get out. I love it, especially when I'm a little down.
So, there are two cliche phrases that I use that people don't get. One is "there is more than one way to skin a cat." That one is apparently only used by 50 year old southern people. I get MORTIFIED looks when I say it. People think I'm a serial killer or something (if you were wondering, I'm not). The other is "gone the way of the buffalo." That one is usually accompanied by blank stares, though I did have an old blind guy bust up laughing and state "what do you mean, you're going to be executed by cowboys shooting from trains?" I can only hope for such a lovely death.
Jay g- I encourage you to keep dropping by here. What's so hard about once a week or so? Come on, don't be a sissy!
PF- I'm shocked everyone doesn't know the "skin a cat" thing. Don't think it is just southern, pretty sure they used to say it in the movies. Now I'm not as familiar with the "gone the way of the buffalo" business. I always heard "gone the way of the dodo."
Eurasia is obviously down under.
Morning peeps
The Buffalo thing is confusing. Cuz they're still around. But whatever.
PF, you still have several years before you need to concern yourself with my futuristic post. But you would do well to avoid wearing underwear in March. That's all I can say.
I can't decide if midget is joking or serious about the magic courses.
anybody see that buffalo chasin those kids around in some zoo? I guess he hadn't heard he was supposed to be gone.
Buffalo only exist because Ted Turner says they do.
I will agree with that PF
Bubbs, Kristinuh used to to be able to tell people when I was joking. Too bad she dropped us like a bad habit.
Yes, I was joking about the magic part... but I do listen to educational podcasts. Mostly I listen to Covenant Seminary classes from iTunes U. I particularly liked their history classes. There is a lot of other stuff on there too. I also listen to Marc Maron's podcast and Bill Simmons's podcast from time to time.
looks like I picked the wrong football season to quit sniffin glue.
are we talking about the African Cape Buffalo or the Asian Water Buffalo?
....and is it coconut laden?
Evening THT, goatherder, norm and bubbs.
Well, we got a "w". I'll take it, we're gonna need as many as we can get. There were glimpses of improvement....and then lapses back to the previous two weeks.
One point, ULM had the benefit of playing to win, while we tightened up and played not to lose.
Good day for Cammy Cam.
Have a good evening.
I plan on sticking around until at least 2061 so I can partake in Civil War bicentennial celebrations.
celebrate a war? You're weird, E-bro. Yankee sympathizer kind of weird.
Morning Norm. Morning AllenD. Morning those who show up soon.
Okay, celebrating was the wrong word. Bicentennial look back maybe?
Speaking of looking back. 150 years ago today, amidst the rolling hills of western Maryland, outside of Sharpsburg, Confederate and Union soliders fought each other in the bloodest one day battle of the Civil War.
Buffalo haven't gone anywhere, their numbers have just decreased. I've seen them, in zoos as well as out in their natural surroundings. Now this cat business, any way to skin a cat is a good way to skin a cat.
The bison have gone somewhere. They sure aren't roaming around North Carolina like they did back in the day.
("The day" being way before my time.)
I think the cats should be skinned as kittens. Let's have a kitten skinning party. That's something we can celebrate.
what about the triceratops?
I rode one of them to work today.
Happy Monday morning everybody.
Business picking up, MJT? Doh! Forget I said that.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/09/14/chicago-ohare-airport-seeks-goats-for-yard-work/?intcmp=features
Interesting timing. Since I was flying back and forth last week, I found myself looking at various parts of the runway infield areas and thinking that fencing them off and putting sheep or goats there might not be a terrible idea. From there I just proceeded to get aggravated with a fellow passenger for one reason or another.
uncontrollable farting?
It was probably controllable, and that added to Norm's consternation.
I swear that chick did it on purpose. Every time.
I bet E-Bro follows this blog:
http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/category/disunion/
well you did keep pullin her finger.
2100!
THT - how do you know that the Bison were ever there? you're falling for the algore internet inventor green sleeve crazy environmental wacko theories. No one ever saw a buffalo roaming wild in carolina that may not have been introduced by artificial means...
Seems like a lot of us have been following the, 'if you don't have something nice to say..., advice. Unfortunately Errbody else is on 2.0.
People are just a little excitable on 2.0 these days.
well nobody at AU has asked my advice on anything so why get so worked up about it. I can't do anything about it. I've tried all my usual tricks. watched the game with shoes on/off, tried several lucky shirts, radio only/tv only, outside and inside. nothins worked so far. I'm outta answers.
I just don't have any confidence that Art is the right guy to turn this thing around.
lucky underwear! dangit, those first two losses are on me.
Hey AllenD
Yet another example of ART FAIL. Way to go.
Hey AllenD
I get the distinct feeling that Art wasn't even lurking in 2010. That guy is towel waving, page flopping cancer.
@MJT
Covenant does put out a lot of good stuff. I have a good friend/pastor who just finished up at their Jackson extension. Which is nice, because he still has connections there and I get some articles to read before they're published etc. Geeky, maybe, but I like it.
Do you use an ereader/tablet to do any reading?
Morning everyone! Art may fail on 1.0, 2.0, AA, and some other stuff but he runs a big time blog of his own. Full of all kind of substance!
2112 was a right good album.
I saw there were 2112 comments, and I said to myself, "Somebody better have referenced Rush OR ELSE! Well done, Norm.
Bubbs, I don't read much. Been reading the same book since Christmas, and it's one of those old fashioned paperbacks. I do read things on my iphone from time to time, but I don't own an ereader or anything fancy like that. My wife has a kindle fire that I borrow from time to time to play angry birds and do other important things.
Thanks MJT, I knew it was looming and just glad I was able to get in there in time and not have Art come in and FAIL all over the place as he is prone to do.
Ever since the fateful eye issues of '09, I actually read the printed word (meaning something I hold in my hands) extremely rarely. I used to read constantly. Since then, I've gotten hooked on audiobooks so now I just listen constantly.
The whole Cam Scam is what eventually turned me into a lurker in 2010. After seeing that yall all were just a buncha idiots I felt like yall could use my vast knowledge and superior intellect.
"We have assumed control, We have assumed control"
"All your base are belong to us."
Little do you know, Art.
Chizik actually looks to HABOTN for advise. Things went well, until he honed in on SFC and you.
@MJT and Norm
In that case I wont continue that thread and recommending of books.
thats below the belt Bubbs.
You've been around long enough to know I'm not a clean fighter, Art. A swift kick right below the buckle is a good kick in my book.
Thereby allowing bubbs to kick another day.
post 2120? ain't that a Van Halen album? or is it a code that bookstore security guards use when they see someone stealin books?
We've gotta 2120, SWARM SWARM!
Evening Arthur, Norman and Bubba.
Just a flyby to see whaz happnin.
Hope everyone is well...
Mornin AllenD.
well what?
Hey AllenD
All you others...'Mornin' to you too.
Hey AllenD
Anyone seen THT lately? He boycotting 1.0 now, too?
hey bubbs,
I had a couple of long days at work. But now I'm fixin' to go have a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and fountain diet cherry coke at Sutton's Drug Store. Yes, it will indeed be a gastronomic delight.
AllenD - who needs Al Gore's interweb. Just pull a copy of John Lawson's "A New Voyage to Carolina" off the bookshelf. You'll find it there.
The Buffalo is a wild Beast of America which has a Bunch on his Back as the Cattle of St Lawrence are said to have He seldom appears amongst the English Inhabitants his chief Haunt being in the Land of Messissippi which is for the most part a plain Country yet I have known some killed on the hilly Part of Cape Fear River they passing the Ledges of vast Mountains from the said Messissippi before they can come near us
For the record, I never doubted you on the Buffalo score, THT.
thanks for your confidence there bubbs. I'm starvin. Time for a buffalo burger.
Ok, it will be just an ordinary cow burger, but I'll pretend.
Afternoon guys and ladies!!
I kinda like it that Ted is saving the Bison. It's nice when capitalism and conservationism come together.
Not to say I'm always a proponent of either. But I'm for this situation.
Did you know that a lot of intelligence agencies have "kid zones/pages?" That's. . . weird.
Check out the one for the CIA: https://www.cia.gov/kids-page/index.html
Notice the use of "" in the second sentence. How ironic.
alright. which one of yall is from Kuala Lumpur?
I'm guessing it's someone from the CIA. I just posted a link to their web page then made of fun them.
If som
Annie?
the sun'll come out to-morrow, betcher bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be sun...
The bad guy in Street Fighter 2 was M BISON!!!! Coincidence!?!
Art, what if it cloudy and raining all day. No sun then!
Meybe them Bison at Cape Fear were domesticated..... ie: pets.
Hello Norm, Bubbs, Art, THT, part-time JGT, PF, other esteemed collegues.
Hola, Allen.
BD334, I think thats the only line in that song that I know for now. You'll have to ask Norm or wait a few years for my daughter to start watching it. then I'm sure I'll be able to sing every song in it. Right now I'm still working on "sallagadoola" and Dora.
Art, I watched some Dora with my son tonight and every night! Nothing wrong with some Dora!
I love how THT tries to be a jerk and correct me on my use of the word Buffalo, then quotes someone smart like me who also does the same thing.
/passive-aggressive mode
Is Allen D still getting emails for every post? 2146 and counting...or was that on some other forum. I forget where we live nowadays.
PF - Allen figured out how to get that turned off after a couple of hundred emails...
Once you turn it on the box is not as obvious...
or age is catching up with me.
And good morning to all of the esteemed colleagues this fine morning.
My football week starts tonight, little JV action against Central Forsyth, then settle back in and watch some Cammy Cam. woo hoo.
Gunaydin to the Hottie in Ankara and Good Mornin to the rest of you in Rio Lindo.
Well since you've managed to turn off the automated email, I'll just start ignoring you AllenD.
So, good morning everyone but AllenD.
PF - that got a loud chuckle out of me, loud enough to disturb my coworker.
Yesterday was uneventful. I went no where with anyone.
The CIaldf;skhga;slgg'
Opportunity is nowhere.
That's why they call me Opportunity.
with the sudden appearance of a Hottie(s) from Turkey, I'm wondering what and where PF is. I hope he saw the Midnight Express movie a long time ago. that didn't work out to well for ol Billy.
I'll be at my usual Thursday night location about 7 or 8ish CDT because it's Thursday and some habits are hard to break.
I'll try to stop by about 8ish THT. And since I don't bother with the coaches show anymore, you can just let me know if anything interesting is said.
anything interesting is said? By Chizik? ROFL
As long as it didn't disturb the local rock star resident, THT. Wouldn't want Bernie's morning coffee to be anything but comfortable.
Art, Midnight Express is that gay cowboy movie from the 40s starring John Wayne and Rock Hudson, right? I'm not doing that, no. I do have a Turkish friend who keeps trying to persuade me into a marriage for green card scheme. The pay is pretty good, and I'll get to get married to a hottie with money. I'm not really interested. Well, not seriously, anyway. Hashish is readily available in America, btw. I bet Michael Dyer could get you some.
Nite normboy, nite sue ellen, nite bubbs,...
morning Jim Bob
Yo
Campfires on a tablet is no bueno. I'm slow as is. Taking away my keyboard and auto correct takes me from challenged to invalid.
Morning peeps
Nearly a 24 hr cycle without a post in 1.0.
Guess it's ressurection is nearing an end. Makes for too many places for me to have to read anyways...
Good gameday morning gang.
Morning folks
Mornin
check the SWALSN for new substance!
Got quiet over here.
Beautiful day. Afternoon to all.
Resurrection? Michael, Feng, and I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Good morning to you.
Whatup, THT. Can you believe Auburn is in the preseason top 5? Big expectations, better deliver.
Finally, things getting back to normal around here.
Not so fast midget boy. I'm sticking around this time. Things are sub-normal now.
afternoon GUYS!
Midget boy...looking both directions to see to whom is being spoken....?
Good afternoon gentlemen...and bubbs.
I am here and not going anywhere.
Have y'all finished your Christmas shopping? The pickin's are getting pretty slim at some stores.
Morning all.
Coffee.
Bit o nip in the air this a.m. when I went to let the good and faithful dog out for her morning constitutional. No critters in the yard.
Eddie good running weather, get yo shoes on.
high 40s right now. I LOVE FALL!!!
Good morning, AllenD.
Looks like I'll get to do something today Harvey Updyke will never do... spend a day in federal prison.
"spend a day in federal prison"
So they finally caught the tater.

"spend a day in federal prison"
So they finally caught the tater.
Hey AllenD!
I can't believe it's snowing!
That's not snow. That's ash from Mt. Caldera.
This is it. The End has begun.
rats, and we're only 5 days from Christmas. I'm going to try and catch the 5:30 lunar shuttle tomorrow morning before everything just implodes.
In the meantime, I actually have some work to do before I'm eligible for parole.
Christmas already? Wow, how time flies. I've barely begun to think about taking down all of our Labor Day decorations.
What is that pleasant odor. Is it a Christmas tree?
Hey AllenD
Hey everybody else
Activity decreasing here.
BOOM!
But we can still get some new page smell. Maybe that'll help a bit.
Love that new smell!
Ahhhh, new page... smells almost as good as the fresh Christmas tree we cut last week.
Norm's takes a page flip right out of Art's book.
Better than a BOOM! would have been a BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!BEASLEY!!!
pfft I ain't tracking on "Beasley", I thought this was a known factor.
I'm late, but I'm here.
Hey AllenD!
2207 AD - Our bones are all still rotting away. Hoverboards are finally common.
My bones will not being rotting. I plan on a date with death in a Scottish Bog.
SUCKAS!!
2209 THT XI will be posting BEASLEY!!! at the appropriate time on Hv88
Old maps will be in vogue once again.
The new Accidental Mummies exhibit at the Eurasian Museum will include a strange looking dude found last year in a Scottish Bog.
Well, you got the dude part right.
Will a map purchased today at a local bookstore, gas station, whatever be considered an old map and thereby "in vogue" in 2209?
Probably depends on the map. Are we talking a Disney Park map or downtown Troy?
These things matter.
Well...a map of Downtown Troy could be printed on a single 8x10 piece of paper and provide about all the detail one would need.
I asked THT, one time, about what he looks for in old maps. He claims that he typed out a really long response but chatroll killed it.
So, you know. I don't know.
Hate to see that. I was doing some good work over there. Not 100% quality but it was pretty good.
But I get it. I'm down.
nowadays, I look for value. Bought a real old map at 1/3 retail value a few weeks ago. Got one in June at 1/2 retail value. I know when I eventually sell my maps to pay for all the pills I'll need when I'm (more) elderly, I can at least get my money out of these two maps. If I'm lucky, I might even make a little.

Aftrenoon guys. It is a SLOW day at work. But the boss is gone so I can play on the computer.
If you need me tonight, you know where I'll be.
Who is playing tonight?
Chances are good that I'll show up. Keep the light on. I might be late.
How late are y'all up?
I'm usually up to midnight or later. Last night the prior weekend trip and subsequent late nights caught up with me and I gave up the ghost about 9 pm
Stanford @ Washington. Whoopty-do. Game starts at 5 pm PDT. That's a weird time to start a game on a weekday.
no internet at my house tonight :(
Made it to the fire but no one home

we ran out of wood last night, bigdaddy.
Still a pretty good little fire. It was enjoyed by me anyway.
Wherever this is, I like it.
Hey. Quiet day. Probably going to decide to not do much.
