Getting Our Bearings
I am hopeful that Brian Woodham, who recently left a part-time gig with ITAT to take a full-time job as a copy editor at the Advertiser, will be given an opportunity to take my old job. Brian would be a great addition. I'll let you know if I hear anything about that.
As I explained on Facebook, we will have a board at AuburnSports.com with a stricter standard when it comes to cussing and any off-putting shenanigans. Personally, I'm good with the Bunker and have read it for a long time. They get a little upset when things don't go well, which is understandable, but I feel like that board's reputation for savage commentary far exceeds reality.
With that said, we will have a HABOTN-esque board over there for people whose tolerance for cussing is at zero. Just want to make that clear.
I'll be starting at AuburnSports.com on Monday.
Take care, errybody. Thanks as always for your support!

Duuuuude
hey I didn't know what was fixin to happen.
I hope AllenD preserves that for posterity in his Inbox
I leave for a little while and come back to this? Very disappointing.
For that, I'm gonna stick a pitchfork up to your neck, but I will tell you a cool story.
it was just like scratchin a mosquito bite. It felt so good that I couldn't stop and before you know it somethin just happened. that was my first 1.0 page flip. I've seen Norm do it on 2.0 but nothin ever happens, he just likes to type boom.
I can't believe art did that. I'm not sure I can keep from puuuhbtfdyhgjj
we just need to get to another page flip and get this travesty corrected
I'm crying now. Perfect, art. Just PERFECT!!
Here! you wanna tissue, jerkwagon.
Art needs practice.
Now, the HABOTN acronym has officially been changed to Having A Blast On The Net, it is time for all Hottie Refugees to report to Greasin The Rails and become Greasers!!! It's the right thing to do.
Here.
bravo, ART
(hey ALLEND)

Wait. Where was I?
Maybe I should start over.
The madmin on HABOTN mentioned that obviously by the number of page views, there is still a lot of support for HABOTN. I may try to stay away from there tomorrow. I am not sure it will cut the number of page views down, but the number of posts will suffer greatly.
maybe this madmin guy's a genius.

I can solve this by changing email addy to my work server and then blocking posts from this site.
Spam from Bubbs as you will.
Just was looking for the short easy way out.
Where the heck is that check box anyway...
Has there ever been a worse page flip in HABOTN history?
I dunno. You're the official archivist, aren't you?
the answer is yes
Art, Art, Art...how you disappoint me and loyal Hotties of old everywhere. That was a miserable failure. I'm equally ashamed OF and FOR you. I just can't talk to you right now. I'm gonna leave and go visit one of the many other incarnations of HABOTN and try in vain to forget about this.
let's get Art off the hook and declare this one the worst flip ever. We don't have to worry about the author's feelings.

1.0 History! Yes!
yr4
that was Moseley running across the keyboard
But before I go, AllenD, on my blogger here that checkbox which is so elusive for you is quite clear for me. Oh, that's just a benefit of ROF I suppose. Sorry. Try that work server route though, that'll be good for you.
Ah, here y'all be. I have no idea what y'all are talking about 98.3% of the time but I enjoy reading it nonetheless. Changed my username from zuzu to my first name.
mawrning
oh and morning bubbs
Norm,
Once the box is checked, it appears as a statement,...there is no box to uncheck. The option is an unsubscribe link, which then solves the issue.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Morning. I'm now caught up on 1.0, 2.0, and 2.1. Time to head over to 3.0.
zuzu/ellie - That's ok, 98.7% of the time we don't know what we're talking about ourselves.
Not much substance on H20, and about the same here. I'll be doing a rivals check soon.
Hey AllenD!
what's goin on?
Life. Death. Everything.
LDE, man. LDE.
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today
Right on, baby
Y'all still here? :)
I may have to give up all together ~ too many choices out there :(
WEG, You can't go! All the plants are gonna die!
You wanna really blow your mind, WEG?
I'm in a campfire right now too. BOOM!
Cheater. I just looked and that was an hour ago!!! That's okay. THT and I campfired by ourselves the other night. ;)
is this where the cool kids hang out now? carry on.
been "busy" all day planning a SW trip to be sandwiched by the aTm and UGly games. LB just tells me Tyr? Mathieu? has been dismissed from LSU. Wow.
I don't know how this is happening but the Candler, NC is me. I live 40 miles from the NC line.
I definitely smell a campfire at 2130 EDT tonight...if I remember.
Oh hey AUMom! I don't blame you for claiming NC ;)
NC is a nice place to claim. I am still wondering exactly how that is working.
I had to check out Candler on a map. Any reason to look at a map is a good reason, right? I am 73 miles away.
A Bammer friend on FB posted something about the Honey Badger. I responded with that he always seemed a bit like a thug.
She then started on about Michael Dyer and what did I think about that. What? Don't the Bammers have enough stuff to look after.
Lesson learned. Do not talk to the Bammers (FSJ excepted). It just leads to aggravation.
I can't be sure when I may or may not show up at a supposed possible existence of a 2130EDT campfire, but I've got a few branches put to the side for just such an occasion.
Also, I might be there in invisible mode. So. You just never know.
I've been looking at maps all day, AU Mom. It's been a wonderful day.
Bammer friend? I have no idea what that is.
cloaked bubbs...watch out, he may be sitting right beside you at the campfire
Dunno if you've heard THT, but Robinson may not be eligible.
just saw that, bubbs. Thanks for the heads up. The NCAA could make him sit out a year I suppose until he gains eligibility, but would AU have to "unadmit" him?
It's just never ending.....the trees...the tornados....they never give up no matter what. We are NOT allowed win or their life will end.
That's the kind of stuff I'm wondering. You have to think, with the slooooooooooow NCAA involved, he's done for the year regardless of what happens.
But I don't know if this means he's done at Auburn or they just work some stuff out. No one on 2.0 seems to have any insight at the moment.
Well Just went over and signed up for 3.0
Seems like this was a surprise to AU. Which strikes me as a little odd. NCAA was at the high school Tuesday and Robinson was practicing today.
SOMEONE GIVE ME SUBSTANCE!!
Agree with Bubbs
I need someone with some SUBSTANCE
Doesn't look like JayG has said anything in GTR yet. From what I can tell anyway.
Hate to hear this about Jovon but it's not the end of the world. If he's ruled ineligible, then hopefully he can get his grades in order & play next year. Just have to hope Blakely steps up.
Anybody remember how quickly the NCAA ruled on the Chapman grade issue @ Hoover?
Was it Hoover or another hs? Can't remember.
ellie, that's a beautiful name. Of course zuzu always reminded me of her petals..and my 2nd most favorite movie. In regards to Chapman, you've apparently turned the table. I have no idea what you're talking about.
But Ford, we just wanted to be held.
Bishop said he and Hoover Superintendent Andy Craig decided not to make a formal correction on the second transcript because Hoover made the mistake. The NCAA Clearinghouse used that version to determine Chapman's eligibility for this season.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/football/2007-08-23-hoover_N.htm
Much quieter tonight.
wheres that campfire thingy
Pretty quiet there too. Chumps.
bubbs the slacker, bails before things start hoppin
thanks for the link, Ellie
aw rats, look who just screwed up the
BEASLEY!!!Beasley! post (TERRY and Jerry)
We won't have another one that lines up all like that until 8888!!!!!! WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY!
I'm not even sure how you track it to get a Beasley post on 1.0...
See numbers at the top, but then you're having to scroll top to bottom to keep up...or is there another viewer for this Blog.
Check that email check box when you post, allen. That'll fix it.
Mornin, Hotties. Mainly posting cause Mr. Cincy signed into my computer and it logged me out of everything.
The good thing about this place is it does not keep up with how many post someone has. I just wish I could see the profile pictures better.
Hey sports fans. I've been completely worthless thus far today...as opposed to only mostly worthless on other days.
Not me. Been getting stuff done. Unfortunately there's more items on the list than I got time for.
pouring rain...someone make it stop. I miss droughts.
Really? Really? We've been this close to a page flip for two days and no one is up for it? Off to church. Better see some action by the time I get back!
No. Pages flip at 200s.
Just a reminder that we're having a blast at HABOTN.com.
(I'm still savoring the moment.)
PF, you're right - I'm out of practice!
Here.
Now we'll be one post closer to a flip. I just hope Art has the good sense to leave it alone.
Art should probably just stay off the Internets for about a week once we're within about 50 posts.
When historians study the Great HABOTN 1.0 Awakening, I think they will all agree that the movement lost it's steam with Art's bumbling page turn.
Sunshine all day. It is glorious. One post closer to the flip, one day closer to Arbor Day.
Hoopie and Michael come strolling by, leave without saying a word.
It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black.
Fly by,... just got back from weekend at lake at in-laws.
First day of school year in a.m. for kiddos. woo-hoo.
Good evening.
It is indeed.
Saw The Bourne Legacy today. Thought it was solid.
Stuff a sock in it. Preferably of the puppet variety.
I'm innocent, THT. I was nowhere near 1.0 at 7:18. Must have been Kathy.
Harrison?
Hey! Just passing by. Didn't see anything on 2.0 that interested me. So just checking y'all out. Headed to 3.0 ~
Have a safe trip, WEG.
MJT - all you USA people look alike.
you people would've had nothing to gripe about if I wouldn't have "bumbled" that page flip. Hey flip pancakes! Huh?...Huh?
everybody except WEGs and THT.
We'd find something to gripe about. But you provided extra material.
I can't believe we might get this thing to ONE THOUSAND posts in less than a month. We spent almost two years getting the last thread to a single page flip.
the ARTMAN can!
I'm smelling a BOOM! already.
Or maybe it's just that Thai food I had.
Here's my contribution.
New thread up.
Been awhile since we've seen that here.
Anyone know anything about this Ethan Bernal kid?
I'm having the hardest time keeping up. There's so many sites (GTR, HABOTN 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0). I miss everyone. :-(
My Alex graduated this weekend from Belmont with her MBA!!!
kathy ... congrats on the daughter's MBA.
I believe Ethan is an AU grad, summer intern at the Agonizer.
Gonna be hard for him to get more than the hand-out notes competing against the likes of Jay G, PMarsh, Goldberg, the ITAT guys.
You never know, Jet. Maybe he made some friends with people in the know during his student days. Then again, maybe he torqued some people off.
We shall see.
I'll give him a chance, gotta start somewhere, why not in the piranha pool? Just hope he doesn't have a paper cut.
Hey AllenD!
Mornin' AllenD. And isn't it a lovely mornin'?
Congrats to Alex!
I can't believe y'all didn't flip this thing already...Slackers.
I think MrsTHT just signed us up for barbecue judging course on the weekend of AU bye. Makes me wonder if an AU fan was involved in the scheduling.
Speaking of 'cue (and we always should), we just tried a place we didn't know about..Hillsborough Barbecue. The pit-cooked barbecue was absolutely SUPERB. It's a crying shame they didn't have some decent slaw to go with it. It's an unusual place that offers your choice of any of the 3 slaws available in NC bbq joints: white, yellow, red. I can tolerate any of them, but the plain ol' mayo slaw is my favorite. Unfortunately, this joints slaw is poisoned with celery seed which ruined the flavor. And since I always eat my 'cue with a half bite of slaw and half bite of 'cue, the whole 'cue experience was a bit tainted. Still, by itself, that was flat out awesome barbecue.
They also have squirt bottles with "Eastern sauce" and "Western sauce". The 'cue didn't need either (good 'cue shouldn't), but I tried one bite of each, the Eastern was definitely tolerable, the Western was yucky sweet.
It's definitely closer than Hursey's so I may have to pick up a family size container of 'cue and have MrsTHT make the slaw for it.
Sounds like the OL rotation is coming together.
Just wanted to make us closer to the page flip!
excellent work there bigdaddy. We're on our way!
I've had a good trip around the Habotn world today! So here I am contributing my post for the flip! My problem is I don't which sequence I should peruse the blogs in.........;)
Valid point, WEG. I don't have a system yet.
I feel like I'm shopping in a grocery store, with a weeks worth of stuff to get, for the first time. But we'll get the hang of it.
THE UNITED STATES IS IN THA HOUSE
So is Kinston, NC (down east) and Franklin, NC (far west). Tar Heels RULE THA HOUSE!
Do you have, like, an ambassador in Eurasia right now or something? Who is it?
Whatever the livefeed says, Troy, AL is in da house.
G'night AllenD.
I was digging the new guy until I read his choice of mayonnaise. I thought most Southerners used Duke's or b*ma mayo.
we did use Duke's back in the day, but I think it's against the law for a a registered dietitian to be seen handling it, so MrsTHT switched to Hellman's Light years ago.
Morning hotties.... and Norm.
Hellmans or Blue Plate...have gotten where I'm using little/none mayo on a sandwich. Using Dijon instead. A calorie I can save for BBQ.
WEG, understand your dilemma on the 1.0,2.0, 2.5, Blasty, rotation. we're going to have to set up some ground rules or proper evolution of discussion....
or not.
the only time i eat mayo is cole slaw. when i was in 1st grade i would make myself mayo sammiches. i quickly wore out my mayo taste buds
Curses. Am I going to have to endure mayo discussions on each blog I share with you folks? I don't like mayo. Any mayo. There.
Mornin' AllenD.
Hey AllenD!
I like William Mayo.
I tried to look up who that is. I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. Or I guess you could just like all of them.
The Mayo Clinic guy, perhaps?
I think half the HABOTN could use some time in a mayo clinic.
can't find a good bio of him
he's mentioned here
The Mayo River, and indirectly the town of Mayodan, are named after him
brief story of the dividing line
Virginia folk. Should have guessed it would be someone involved in maps.
Re: the History of the Dividing Line referenced in the above link, engravings were made in the 1730s for the intended book. Since the book was never published, neither were the engravings. Amazingly, the copper plates survived and were discovered in the Bodleian Library at Oxford University in the 1980s. In 1988, fifty prints were made from the engraved copper plate of the Dividing Line. If I figured out how to share correctly, you should be able to see #44/50 here
You did it right.
I can only find where the rattle snake, fish and possums were. I think. Was there more to the original map(s)?
You probably aren't gonna like this, THT:

1. there may have been more to the manuscript map (which I haven't seen), but that's all that was printed. There are also a lot of lower case letters marking things, so it's possible the numbers and letters on the map correspond to some other key. You're going to make me actually read the book, aren't you?
2. I don't like when AU's first game is not on campus. Not. One. Bit.
I didn't mean to say it was never published...the Dividing LIne book was not published in the 18th century. By the time the book was 1st published in the mid 19thC, the engravings intended to illustrate it were long since misplaced, not to be found until the 20th century.
1. Yeah, I think you're gonna need to read the book.
2. I don't like it being at a neutral site where we already have plenty of pub (ATL). I don't think we're gaining much and it's not as attractive to the fans (IMO).
we need a game in Alaska. I need a good reason to go there.
Are you people trying to turn this into the Hottest Maps & Mayo Blog On The Net?
a suggestion for mrtommyd's next trip with his dad
I have no idea what the criteria were for this "trail". Some of them are DEEEEEEEEEELicious and some of them are just plain awful.
@Norm - what's it to you as long as we're continuing the steady march towards your next assignment?
shhhh, don't tell Art.
Well; I find one disgusting and I have an occasional need for the other. But I do sometimes kill time while on calls looking at Google Maps/Earth/whatever. But your comment is valid.
other than it's use in cole slaw, we're in agreement on the topic which sha'n't be discussed further.
as to the topic of maps, I'll be happy to discuss them ad infinitum.
If THT ever ticks me off, I'm gonna freeze some mayo. I'll scoop out a bowl of it and put some Hershey's on top. Then I'll hand it to him and say, "Look. Let's just bury the hatchet and be friends. Here's a peace offering just for you."
YUCK, bubbs. i just threw up a little. it was orange. Must have been the Cheetohs
since we're now talking about gypsum on habotn.com, maybe we should talk about polygons on 1.0. Speaking of which, I don't think I ever determined if I have a favorite polygon. Is that a decision I need to make before I die?
How could you narrow it down? There's so many of them.
I like 8, but octagons don't do a whole lot for me. How about quadrilaterals? Count me among the fans of isosceles trapezoids.
How about a apeirogon?
well, as long as you don't get into an apeirogon polyhedron. You start talking about Plücker coordinates and screw axis and I get dizzy.
I deal with boolean operations a fair amount. Apparently they're used for computer graphics (boolean operations on polygons), which makes sense. But that ain't my thing. Computer graphics that is.
What the heck was that about on 2.0, AllenD?
Thanks to that handy-dandy rain gauge I put up a couple of weeks ago, I can now confirm for you that the ~15 minute shower earlier this afternoon produced 1/10 of an inch of rain at my house.
You're welcome.
sissy rain. How appropriate. ;)
I'm a fan of hyper cubes, also known as teseracts. But y'all are talking about 2 dimensions not 4.
I have a planar brain.
You should broaden your mind.
Well that leads back to string theory. They (well some of them. I'm not an expert so there may be some dissenters) say we have 26 dimensions. That's a lot.
And the show has reached a new low...
Did you just lose some serious talent on your current musical production or something?
Maybe we should find something simpler to discuss to satisfy Norm. How about those Nats?
9BEASLEY!!!
it's a stretch, but it's all I got after botching the 888 post.
Let's change the subject so Norm can participate. My favorite musical of all-time is Les Miserables. My favorite character in said musical is Eponine. Phantom of the Opera is a distant second and I don't think I have a 3rd favorite. I'm not into musicals as much as Norm.
It's a stretch for me to think of any I've seen start to finish, but I like little Opie Cunningham singing "Gary, Indiana".
For my money, it doesn't get any better than when Romeo sings that soliliquee at the end of Act II during "Cats"
I'm allergic to "Cats". Now if they ever make a "Dogs" musical, I'll be barking for a ticket.
anyone who sees Les Miserables...assuming the cast is talented...and doesn't like it is just not human.
"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a chill bump inducing favorite song. One day I suppose I should see that, maybe it's on Netflix.

Well how the heck did that happen?
you posted in multiple dimensions? 23 more to go.
I'm having blogger issues on the iPhone.
This flip may need an asterisk.
BOOM
whew, I thought you and your phone were going to art the flip.
And here we have new page smell once again.
uh oh, I just realized....Norm's phone apparently doesn't have a !
Either that are he's pandering to Buzzy.
so, ya think we can get this think to 2K by next week?
Of course we can. That'd be a record.
That was dicey there for a minute. Norm almost had to apologize to art.
The Sound of Music is the best musical. There is no voice better than Julie Andrews in her prime.
