bubbs, you know I can't resist the temptation to check on my my beloved Tigers if I'm anywhere near a monitor. I'll have to Google and see if there are any caves to explore within a short drive of home. The further underground, the better.

How banged up is our defense? No reason we couldn't pull an LSU and at least keep the IB low scoring if that side of the ball is healthy and playing good ball. I think we'll at least score against Bama.

Hmm...wait a minute.

So anyway, yeah, Auburn doesn't have a chance! No way we beat Bama!

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

We knew Trump would get elected. The S&P 500 was lower on Oct 31 than on Aug 1. That guaranteed a loss to the incumbent party. (The opposite also holds true.)

We also knew a 9 win AU team would win the Iron Bowl. Can we schedule a doubleheader Saturday against A&M and Faulkner Univ.?

That's a great idea THT! I'll take my whole family!

Started with a cough and fever back on Oct 30. Still have the cough from that, and lots of phlegm. Picked up a new cold about a week ago with lots of snot. Then the whole family got a stomach virus earlier this week. So basically sick with three things at once, and I think the last cold turned into a sinus infection.

The good news is I lost about 5 pounds, so I'll need to eat a lot next week to gain it back.

Some days you have to realize you are truly blessed. Thank heavens I don't pull for Louisville.

If Jeremy Johnson is at a football game and nobody sees him, is he really there? It is coming. The Jeremy Johnson show is back by popular demand. Well, okay, maybe not popular. Okay, maybe demand is overstating it. Apparently he is back, though. I'm pretty sure.

If you need a lift, I hear there is plenty of free space on the JF3 bandwagon.

From now on, Gus should request Kirby buy dinner before we play Georgia. It is only fair.

I hope we'll eventually learn that Jeremy's appearance was one half too late.

To answer your question: it could be very much more than 17:

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/11/theres_been_a_bigger_iron_bowl.html

32 points in 2012! And bama easily covered.

6:07 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

That was the year I made a 600 mile day trip to the mountains (Christmas tree), Columbia SC (auction with maps), and back home. If I didn't have to work Saturday morning, I'd do the same... well, work and the fact I can't find an auction with maps on Saturday. I have not been able to find a local cave for a spelunking expedition. I may just have to dig a deep hole in the back yard and crawl in it.

Jimmy, please add the "NSFW" warning next time. I don't won't (or dant want?) to get fired from the Buy More for accidentally looking at non-avian boobies.

Jimmy p.s., Are you going to be in LAw to watch AU soccer this weekend?

7:46 PM
Blogger E-Bro said...

Watched every bit of the 2012 game. Mainly just to see if Tre would break 1,000 yards rushing for the season. Celebrated like heck when he did.

If he stays healthy for Bama and the bowl game, Kerryon should join Bubba in breaking 1,000 for the season.

9:46 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

I think bammer covers easily, just like in 2012.

10:25 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

unfortunately, bubbs is right. Too bad we couldn't have played them in October when we had that bye week.

Malzahn says he won't know the game status of the injured players, which includes quarterback Sean White and running back Kamryn Pettway, until "later in the week.

Google Translates that to: The injured players aren't practicing because they are HURT and CAN'T PLAY.

Yes, ua-t covers way too easily :(

12:14 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

The concern now is if we'll have a QB for the bowl game. There's talk of surgery for Grit.

BTW - It would be cool if Google Translate had a "coach speak" option.

12:19 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

You bunch of negative nancys. Last year we only lost by two scores. This year we have a much improved defense and Alabama has a young QB and backs. There is hope. Well, not hope we will win. I'm talking about hope that we see no snot bubbles on Saturday.

My guess is Jeremy Johnson starts at QB. Every time White has been injured he has played like pooh, and not even warm pooh. JF3 will continue to do his standard QB impression occasionally.

KJ really needs to have a good game. Pettway being back would be great, but the idea that we run up the middle against Bama isn't a good one. I say go with speed and let Kam "Zippy" Martin get some touches.

12:37 PM
Blogger michael said...

We'll win by about 20

1:22 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Okay, it is time for you idiots to earn your keep and release the rumor that Nick Saban will be returning to coach LSU after the Iron Bowl. The only thing standing in the way appears to be Saban talking to Texas about their head coaching position. On the lighter side, Les Miles is available to replace Saban at Bama, but Lane Kiffin is fighting it.

2:39 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I'm guessing if KP plays, it will be more decoy than anything else. I certainly don't expect a major contribution from someone who hasn't recovered from a torn hamstring. He probably shouldn't even suit up. Grit is too messed up to play. Maybe JJ should change jerseys to 2 and see if it makes him play like Cam. While wearing 6 he's played like #2, and I don't mean Cam. I've never seen a team with so many offensive skill position players lost to injury.

bubbs @ 1:22pm made me laugh.

9:17 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

For some reason Auburn never has a solid backup QB waiting. White was definitely very good when healthy, but he is more like very bad when injured.

8:01 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

we didn't even come close to covering the spread against Purdue :(

Excluding a 1944 Orange Bowl matchup and a 1955 regular season game in Dallas, can someone explain why aTm played LSU in Baton Rouge 27 consecutive times between 1923 and 1986? I mean, it's not like aTm is Auburn and LSU is Georgia Tech.

About to get paroled early from prison today, in time to watch NCSU vs UNC and then the Apple Cup.. GO WAZOO!. Work tomorrow a.m. and spelunking expedition or some other away-from-tv activity tomorrow afternoon. I hope y'all also have alternative non-disappointig activities planned.

Nebraska is a paper tiger. They didn't beat any good team this year, with the exception of Wyoming. GO COWBOYS!

DB reaches out to deflect pass, Herbstreit "He needed every ounce of that arm length".

I'm thinking he could have reached out easier if his arm wasn't so darn heavy.

1:14 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

OUCH! Wyoming got run over, and over, and over, and over...
The Cowboys defense allowed 568 rushing yards (over 400 in first half!), more than any Wyoming defense had ever allowed and the most any team in the country has allowed this season.
New Mexico's first 5 possessions were all TD drives, none less than 75 yards, and none more than 5 plays.
Years of coaching experience allowed this insightful observation by Wyoming coach Craig Bohl, "Their offense was much more troublesome than what we’d anticipated".

In other news...
Pitt scored 76 points and still didn't cover the spread.

No, the infraction is taped to the outside of your bubble. You can grab it on the way out.

1:22 PM

Oh no... you made your bubble out of non-adhesiveable material? That's another infraction.

2:40 PM

Well of course not. You are a deplorable racist, and she was half Iranian.

Oh, no you don't!

Her mom was Iranian. She was born in London. Which makes her 100% English. You Jackwagon!

all I knew was her name. Y'all sound like stalkers.

12:01 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

What?! I already said she wasn't my type. Come on, man. If we're going TV crushes of late 90s/early 00s, Gillian Anderson comes to mind. She's more my speed.

She's American.

MJT is a stalker. But that's none of my bidness.

12:12 PM
Blogger michael said...

I remembered she was part middle eastern because her ability to speak another language was key in some episodes. Then I read on wikipedia where she was half iranian and put 2 and 2 together.

Blogger bubbs said...

Hey THT,

What's your favorite TV show theme song?

1:10 PM
Blogger E-Bro said...

So being bi-lingual means you're part middle eastern? Huh.

1:21 PM
Blogger michael said...

Well generalizations like that are usually not good, but in this case that's pretty much spot on Ebro, so yeah

1:32 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

bubbs, this one

Of shows that made it past the pilot, my favorite theme songs are for The High Chaparral

the two for Laramie (I could only find the one that was used for about 3.5 of the 4 seasons)

and of course, this one

2:03 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

So you're saying that all the good TV theme songs came during the 60s? How about that.

I don't think I've ever seen the first one (Route 66?).

2:07 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Mike Post had some good ones in the early 80s.

In the late 90s, this one is tops...took a while to start on my 'puter

oh... the delay was Firefox giving me a blank youtube window instead of the ad that I got in Chrome

Not a fan of the show (Simply never exposed to it. Not active dislike). But I kinda like the full orchestra sound. Reminds of the West Wing theme song.

I never watched Voyager until a few years ago.

Blogger michael said...

My dad was a huge Star Trek TNG, but I don't think he was that crazy about Voyager. I only watched a couple of episodes.

Are you a trekkie, THT?

9:02 AM
Blogger michael said...

I forgot the word "fan" in that last post. I would like to clarify that my dad was not a TV series.

9:26 AM
Blogger E-Bro said...

Whatever you say, MJT.

9:57 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

MJT having a TV show for a parent, puts a lot into context for me. Michael Jan Trek?

Blogger michael said...

It was tough on us all when my father was unexpectedly canceled. Really thought he'd get renewed for another season. Didn't get to say goodbye.

Maybe they'll turn him into a movie, though?

10:19 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

Never know. Reboots are still pretty popular. Maybe he'll get reactivated.

10:57 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I didn't watch Voyager until it was on Netflix or some other place where my son showed it to me. Really liked it a lot. I didn't watch it during its original run because I disliked Deep Space 9 so much (how can you have a star trek series stuck in one place all the time?)

I'm not a full-fledged trekkie, but I will watch Michael's dad when he comes out in syndication.

11:15 AM
Blogger michael said...

Been meaning to talk you about that... it really creeps my dad out when people stare at him when he comes out of the house wearing syndication. So please stop.

1:51 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Advice for your dad: cotton, wool, silk, fur. If he didn't wear tacky clothes made of syndicated stuff, he wouldn't get so many stares.

2:10 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

It really is inappropriate.

2:43 PM
Blogger michael said...

My position has always been that you should be able to wear whatever you want to wear in the privacy of your own front yard.

2:54 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Your dad prefers syndicated clothing? I'd rather be in a natural grass hula skirt, just sayin'

4:00 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

Synthetic grass has come a long way, THT. You should give it another try.

previously unbeaten Sam Houston, the guy who won Texas independence, returned home to his native Virginia for a behind the woodshed beating. James Madison opened up the largest can of whupazz on the shelf, to the tune of 65-7 tonight.

In 12 hours the poor ol'Jackrabbits from Brookings, SD, will likely get stomped on by the Bison. NDSU has lost only 6 games in the past 5 years. SDSU dominated the stats in their trip to the Fargodome earlier this year, but had to score a TD with 1 second left to get the 19-17 upset win. I don't think the hosts will be as hospitable today. Oh well, I love the underdog. GO JACKS! I mean, seriously, how could you not pull for this logo?

After not getting the Houston job, FAU is in talks with Lane Kiffin to become their new head coach.

With their football history, why would FAU expect to be hired by anyone?

7:22 AM
Blogger E-Bro said...

Sam Houston St was clearly in let down mode after that close-call against the fightin' Mocs of UT-Chattanooga the week before. Hard to come back down to earth after a big victory over a team that led Bama for a quarter and only lost by 28 in the end.

I watched the game last night and I can confirm the presence of frustration.

I'm convinced, based on totally unreliable rating services, that BP can recruit. I haven't watched enough AU or TN basketball with him at the helm to know if he can coach. Anybody out there seen enough to know about his game planning and in-game coaching?

Combined record of top 5 teams in Metropolitan Division since each team's last loss

28-0

Flyers win streak = 9
Penguins win streak = 6
Blue Jackets win streak = 6
Ovechkis win streak = 4
Rangers win streak = 3

9:51 AM
Blogger michael said...

There's something called the "Metropolitan Division"?

10:27 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

since July 2013.

Before that, Penguins were in Northeast Divison, and before 1993, the Patrick Division.

10:36 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

You're making this stuff up, THT.

10:52 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

you didn't let me finish, bubbs.

While in the Patrick Division, they were part of the Clarence Campbell Conference.

Before 1981 they were in the Norris Division as part of the Prince of Wales Conference.

I didn't know about that last line as it predates my Penguin fanness.

It's all right here: https://www.sportingcharts.com/articles/nhl/detailed-history-of-nhl-expansion-and-realignment.aspx

What's up with Pitt and its desire to be pirates? It's not on or near a large body of water.

The new owners also signed highly regarded second baseman Lou Bierbauer, who had previously played with the AA's Philadelphia Athletics. The Athletics failed to include him on their reserve list, and the Pittsburgh Alleghenys picked him up. Nonetheless, this led to loud protests by the Athletics, and in an official complaint, an AA official claimed the Alleghenys' actions were "piratical".[5] This incident quickly accelerated into a schism between the leagues that contributed to the demise of the A.A. Although the Alleghenys were never found guilty of wrongdoing, they made sport of being denounced for being "piratical" by renaming themselves "the Pirates" for the 1891 season. The nickname was first acknowledged on the team's uniforms in 1912.

Why do you keep making up all these sports stories?

12:03 PM
Blogger michael said...

Hey so is that were Chris Berman got the "NFC Norris Division" when talking about the NFC north? Maybe THT isn't making everything up.

Are there leaders and legends division too?

12:33 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

thankfully not. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they had Bullies and Tormenters divisions.

1:08 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

How about a Dementor division?

1:33 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

Hmm. Well. That was not a good page flip. My long weekend left me rusty, and THT's fake stories left me confused.

I plead insanity.
