OK. So you all have reached 5,000 posts, so THT has asked that I make a new thread. I'll gladly acquiesce. But first, a photo of the always-lovely Jenna Fischer to user in a new post. Please enjoy.

You didn't want to make Mike an "honorary" RoF member.

I've had about as much of Mike as I can take, at this point.

11:19 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Well, bubbs, I was going to try to make you feel better by telling you there is no proof that I'm in the RoF. After all, Hv1.0 stops with the class of 2009. The 2010 class was posted on Hv2.0 on August 4, 2010, but I could not access the actual list of new members or the comments.

Forget "was"

I did access my Hv2.0 profile:
Name: Tar Heel Tiger
Position: ROF ('10)

neener neener neener

btw, a certain webmaster believes adding members now would violate the sanctity of the RoF. Can't say I didn't try.

Now, about that honorary membership card. Do you need some tape?

Slap on the wrist, I'm sure. With one of those foam hands. They'd pay a yuuuuuuuge price if I was their coach. I would have a zero tolerance policy for anything other than a minor traffic violation (wouldn't want to fire myself!).

Section 1: Embarrassing Auburn University while on scholarship.

6:09 PM
Blogger michael said...

I did a google search and it appears that Auburn University is a series of buildings and cement walkways in Auburn, AL. How can you tell when they are embarrassed?

6:26 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

I blame Madmin for my lack of RoF membership. He rolled into 2.0 like a blizzard high on liquid nitrogen.

8:54 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

Since AU is incapable of being embarrassed, THT would be the most lenient coach in AU history.

8:56 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

that hurts, bubbs.

I was unaware of the mood enhancing effects of liquid nitrogen. We have a ready supply at the Buy More; maybe I should press the red button and give it a try.

Michael, for every THT legal code, there is a separate appendix defining various terms. Did you ask for the appendix? No, you did not. Maybe you should stick to engineering. Jeesh.

9:07 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

Everyone knows that appendixes are pointless. People get them removed all the time. Why would we pay attention to one of those?

Surprised you didn't know that.

9:26 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I've grown attached to my appendix and have absolutely no intention of giving it up.

9:37 AM
Blogger michael said...

A gentleman should never have to ask for an appendix, THT.

9:37 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Just take your pick, michael. bubbs apparently has a whole jar of them.

maybe bubbs is making a mint supplying appendixes to transplant centers.

10:00 AM
Blogger michael said...

Hey bubbs, I hate to act ungentlemanly, but can I have THT's Auburn appendix?

10:22 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Appendix to THT's Auburn University Legal Code

Paragraph 1:
Definitions
Subparagraph 1a:
Auburn University
1. a series of buildings and cement walkways in Auburn, AL
2. any individual Auburn alumnus or alumna, and/or the Auburn Family
Subparagraph 1b:
Auburn Family
All currently living Auburn University alumni or any subset thereof.

Paragraph 2:
Usage: Any and/or all definition(s) for a given term may be applied singly or collectively in any combination

10:45 AM
Blogger michael said...

So from the earlier context, I see I was right to assume you were talking about the series of buildings and cement walkways. Thanks for clarifying!

bubbs, I don't need that appendix anymore I don't think. But if you already got it for me, I'll go ahead and take it. It's good to have extra appendices.

11:07 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

There was a tad bit of damage getting it out, but for all intents and purposes it's good as new.

Paragraph 1:
Definitions
Subparagraph 1a:
Auburn University
1. a series of buildings and cement walkways in Auburn, AL
2. any Auburn Family
Subparagraph 1b:
Auburn Family
All currently Auburn University substrate.

Paragraph 2:
Usage: Any and/or all definition(s) for a given term may be applied singly or collectively in any combination

This part of Jimmy's movie based on our HABOTN 1.0 comments will be really exciting.

11:40 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

Will I be in this movie? Has Jimmy confirmed that it's not restricted to RoF members?

12:30 PM
Blogger michael said...

To keep things simple, Jimmy will probably create one character who is really an amalgam of all non-RoF members. He'll probably call the character Tool McInconsequential.

12:38 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

On the plus side, my post count on 1.0 means Tool will be 98% bubbs. It's interesting that you think he would choose to give the character an ironic name. Jimmy is a complex guy.

12:41 PM
Blogger michael said...

Super complex. You should see his appendix.

12:53 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

Any chance you can get your hands on it? I bet it would be fascinating!

12:56 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

michael, is your phone still in the Nashville area? If not, there's no telling who I just grossed out with the image I sent.

Jimmy's probably just overcompensating.

1:53 PM
Blogger michael said...

Yes and no*, THT.

But yes I did just see the picture, and I have to say yowza! How did that happen? Did someone try to block you as you attempted to remove their appendix? Could any of the digits be reattached? Was it weird for the person to place their hand down for an x ray with their former fingers sitting a few inches away also getting x rayed?

*My phone situation is complicated. I actually have a new phone with a 256 area code, but it is a company phone, and being wise, I converted the old Nashville area code number into my google voice number, so I get emails when people send me text messages or SMS messages to my old 615 number. (sadly I can't do group texts on that number, so when people involve my old number on a group text, things get confusing). so I don't have a 615 area code phone, but I still kind of have access to my 615 number.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I thought it was a test, like maybe I was supposed to click and drag to connect them in the right order.

2:50 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

So when they re-attach digits like that ... all the fingers are like 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch shorter than the ones on the other hand, right? Glove shopping would be a nightmare!

Story Time:

Kid #3 (con-artist) is not a fan of people dressed up in costumes. Like a mascot or the Chick-fil-a Cow, or pretty much anyone in character. She's about to be 9, and she's still this way. I've never gotten a satisfactory answer as to why it weirds her out/makes her uncomfortable.

About a week ago, wife and kids went with a bunch of other moms and kids to Noccalula Falls to see Santa in a log cabin. A real beard, might be the real thing kinda Santa. Why would you drive an hour to do such a thing for kids bordering on way too old? I don't know. I was neither consulted or invited. Fine by me.

So they get there and the kids are predictably horsing around, being loud, hyper and generally acting like kids with a bunch of friends. They finally get settled into line and wife is noticing that con-artist is really cracking up. At first it's just a general "what's gotten into you?" But then con-artist is starting to get hysterical. Like uncontrollable, crazy person laughing. Wife eventually gets it out of her as to what the deal is. Santa's white glove had a finger neatly folded down. Mr. Claus was missing a finger ... that was enough awkward to send her over the edge. Wife had to send her out of the cabin.

Later, when this story was told to me, I asked "Why didn't the guy just stuff the finger of his glove or something?" "...It was his middle finger. How do you think that would have gone?" "Ah. I see."

4:10 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I'm curious if he walked in carrying his fingers and, if so, in which hand. I guess he had to use his good hand to pick them up!

One thing I miss now that we have T-Mobile is the ability for calls to my cell phone to show up in my email. I suppose that still works if someone calls my Google number, but I rarely ever use it since it's a far west U.S. area code (the only one available at the time where I could spell OLDMAPS in the number). With the other carriers, I could link my cell phone number to Google voice so that missed calls showed up in my email. That was handy since my phone wasn't always inclined to let me know.

You can do this? "converted the old Nashville area code number into my google voice number"

In other middle finger news, one of the 6 years olds on my daughter's team jammed his middle finger at practice last week. He was going around showing everyone. It was hilarious.

Hey THT, what assessment did you give of the X-Ray? were you like, "Some fingers appear to have been severed. You're welcome."

And yes THT, you can port any number you have and make it your google voice number just like you would if you were switching cell services. The going rate is now $20 (it was $10 bucks when I did it a few years ago).

Unlike more successful programs this season at WMU and EMU, I think the problem with CMU is they have no direction.

12:32 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

Same as far as upbringing. What was the problem with D&D anyway? That's real hazy. I just know that only devil worshipers messed with that stuff. Smurfs were a no go in my house too.

Anyhoo. Someone asked if I wanted to play soon. I said sure. It's with friends, and the basic workings sound fun. But good heavens. You have to create a character, and it's more than a little involved!

I've always known that Conecuh is pronounced cuh NECK uh. I guess that made sense since Cuh is not a word. It also helped that I spent a few days each summer up until about age 9 fishing in that river. Until recently, my unbounded ignorance prevented me from applying a similar pronunciation technique to Conetoe, a tiny town in eastern NC. After all, you've got Cone and Toe. WRONG! It's cuh NEE tuh . Conetoe (I can't help myself; I still read that as Cone Toe) is actually a warping of the original spelling, Coneghta. I think that next month I'll throw something about Conetoe on my blog and see if it sticks.

Add watching UNC football to the list of painful activities. So many mental mistakes that cost them the game, especially from the QB.

I'm not much of a FSU fan, but it didn't hurt my feelings in the least that they beat Michigan.

Hope you were scheduled at the BuyMore last night, THT. That game was not suitable for viewers with an aversion to poop.

I was up til 3 a.m. the night before, so I went to bed after the 1st quarter. I only watched that much due to the derision I received from LB and MrsTHT for my complete confidence in AU's impending loss. That had to be the worst 8 win team we've ever had.

I'm hoping we never again see JFiii take a snap from center, and I'm hoping we never again see GL take a snap from center except in 2nd string mop up duty, i.e. backing up the first mop-up duty QB.

We're obviously never going to get our money's worth from a "high profile" HC. I recommend we start hiring like the AAC or MAC schools, looking for the new up and comer or a diamond in the rough that needs a chance to get polished. We'll get just as many excellent years for a fraction of the cost.

I think the orange-colored sunglass lenses were installed backwards on my glasses.

BTW, I did watch the Packers win on Sunday night, so I saw some good football recently. Packers won despite losing FOUR cornerbacks to injury during the game, playing a S at CB for much of the 2nd half and at least one undrafted DB. They also had multiple RB injuries leading into the game, so WR #88 played TB and did quite well. He's been a TB since late October.

11:49 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

actually, CGM was a new up and comer. Why on earth do we pay him 4+million/yr? We need to find the next PJ Fleck or Tom Herman and pay them about 1.5 mil max. Once they sustain excellence, they can leave for a higher paying job. If they don't sustain excellence, at least we can save $3 million a year that could be better spent getting better players. I'm sure I have the support of the bagman.

Sounds like most folks are ready for Gus to move on. Kind of disappointing that next year's story line will mostly be about our coach's tenure.

Also, see that some players are transferring. It doesn't always mean anything, but I wonder if he's starting to lose the team, too. I mean, it's not like they're unable to evaluate his game day coaching.

9:28 AM
Blogger michael said...

I think we should give Gus an extension ASAP.

9:44 AM
Blogger E-Bro said...

I don't know. This eight win team I felt was better than the 2009 team, especially when you consider we played three different conference champs this year (with two of them playing for the natty).

So what I'm saying is, with another stud transfer QB coming in this year, we going to the ship next season.

9:50 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

WERK would love that.

I will say that I'd rather have an up and down team that goes to the ship periodically over a team that always gets to 10 wins but never brings home any banners.

10:03 AM
Blogger michael said...

I think we should lock Gus in at a low rate before next year's natty makes him more expensive.

10:04 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

The team that played Arkansas was better than the 2009 team, but the team that played the early and late season games was not. I think a new OC/QB coach may be required. Gus can put up big numbers against mediocre competition, but has struggled mightily against quality opponents ever since the 2014 Iron Bowl... which he lost despite the gaudy offensive stats.

bubbs sees players (plural) transferring. Are you looking into a crystal ball or has someone other than #10 announced he was transferring?

Jeremy Johnson wants to get "coached up". I would absolutely love for him to become an all-pro QB. He certainly deserves it.

11:37 AM
Blogger bubbs said...

JJ's problem is JJ. Our coarch's may not be great at developing QBs (it can be argued either way), but his problems are not the kind easily fixed by coaching. Well. Unless the coaches are telling him to never look off the first receiver and don't pay attention to where the DBs are.

11:54 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

At this point, I think JJ needs a hypnotist more than he needs a coach.

Speaking of "ists", all hope is not yet lost for another season of "The Detecortists"

1:08 PM
Blogger michael said...

JJ's probably is that defensive backs in zone defense become to invisible to him. It's an issue that could probably be fixed by a skilled optometrist, but for some reason we are still using that useless team audiologist Dr Steenhoppen for all team eyecare. That guy knows even less about eyes than he does about audiology. What a disaster!

2:45 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

FIRE STEENHOPPEN!

3:03 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Dr. Steenhoppen knows nothing about audiology. Nothing from nothing leaves nothing. You gotta have somethin' if you wanna win the SEC. Or so I've heard... no thanks to Stinky Steenhoppen.

4:19 PM
Blogger michael said...

Well let's not use too much hyperbole with regard to Dr Thomas Steenhoppen, Team Audiologist. When Gus initially hired him at Shiloh Christian, his interview was simple: identify the ears on this life sized barbie head (available at amazon for 39.99). After two guesses, Steenhoppen finally got it right (the hair was obscuring the ears, giving him difficulties).

So at the very least, Dr Steenhoppen probably knows what an ear is. That's not nothing, right?

4:42 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

If he knew anything about ears, he would have figured out why our OL couldn't hear the silent snap counts. Well, except for Leff. He hears all.

How does one become a citizen of Eurasia?

4:26 PM
Blogger michael said...

Usually there's a brief audiology exam, and then the loyalty oath. that's about it. And also the embedded tracking devices. And also the required month of hard labor/mental conditioning. But that's all, pretty simple. Also the part where you have to identify at least one close friend you think is a traitor to the state. But that's almost all it takes to be a citizen.

4:40 PM
Blogger bubbs said...

I could never be a citizen of a country that required an audiology exam. Those are easily faked, and they're just an excuse to grease the palms of the The Academy of Doctors of Audiology. Which if you know anything about history, you would understand the way they've manipulated the fates of nations through various and sundry means. It wouldn't surprise me if Dr. Steenhopper himself was in the back pocket of the REC. It could easily be done. You want an audiologist on the take? I can get you an audiologist on the take. Believe me. There are ways, dude. You don't want to know about it. Believe me.

5:03 PM
Blogger michael said...

I hear what you're saying, but history really isn't an issue in Eurasia because of how I am in charge of making sure everyone knows the true history of things. So your concerns are unfounded.

5:28 PM
Blogger THT said...

That's gross, bubbs. I had no idea those audiologists were using citizens' ear wax to grease their palms. That's just creepy. I'll never shake hands with an audiologist again.

Snow tomorrow. That can only mean one thing. Yes, tomorrow is another Buy More double shift. Seems like our one snow accumulation each year always falls on a double shift day. I get stuck in a closet and never get to enjoy the beauty of falling snow. I can't wait to play in it on Sunday.

Right now the flipping snow looks a lot like flipping dirt and grass if you ask me. Where's all my snow, THT?!

10:10 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Funny you should flipping ask. I was just looking at AL weather radar on accuweather.com (a misnomer). Looks like huge snow blob north and west of you. Also a snow "blob" to the SW. Looks like you have a great chance at sliding through a gap between those blobs.
