Dean Green weighs in

Thanks to HOTTIE Caleb Rotten for allowing us to soak this in.

For the record, I don't remember a lot of booing at the USM game. Some people boo Santa Claus. I booed Cal Ripken in Camden Yards and felt really good about it.

I didn't think enough of what I heard two weeks ago to write about it. Still, this is interesting:
Dear Auburn Student,
I wanted to remind each of you about the importance of your support for our team and displaying character this weekend when L.S.U. fans and other guests arrive this weekend. First, please join me by agreeing to demonstrate your support for, and not criticism of, our football team. That means no booing! Remember, the team isn't trying to lose the game--the players work hard all spring and during fall camp to be ready to compete in the S.E.C. Let's show our appreciation for their hard work by encouraging them with loads enthusiasm! Secondly, help me show the world what I get to experience everyday: that Auburn men and women are special, dedicated, loyal, fun loving, bleed orange and blue, are compassionate, and demonstrate good will to others, even our competitors.

ESPN Game Day will be in town this weekend and we need everyone to come out and show them how much we support our team. Let's show Chris Fowler, Kirk Hebstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard true fan support and loyalty for Auburn!

The nation will be watching the next two weeks (ESPN, CBS next week), and lets remember to have a great time, enjoy the weekend's activities, watch our language and behavior, and display class, taste, and character in everything we do. I have every confidence you will.

War Eagle!!

Dr. Johnny Green, '85
Office of the Dean of
Students

Jay G, What is your quess on what "team rules" Slaughter broke? I really thought he was going to excel in this offense.

Hey everyone! This is my first post on a Auburn blog, but I have been a long time "lurker" of most of them for years. Just wanted to say this is one of my favorites! Jay, you and those who regularly comment here are informative, funny and are able to offer critcsm without being overly negative. So keep up the good work everyone!

I only heard booing at one point during the USM game. Which in my opinion is one time too many. But I'm just a chick and tend to feel sorry for my tigers when they get booed by their own "fans". I'm sensitive that way ;-)

War Eagle!

Why is it incumbent upon those guys to act like they're 95 years old?

"Rock Band? My kids play that."

Mine, too. Try playing with them sometime. It's fun.

Also liked how Barry said he doesn't understand Twitter. What's to understand?

On Slaughter: You know, I said initially that he'd be gone at least six weeks. I received (off-the-record) word earlier this week that Sgt. Slaughter could be back sooner than that.

This guy didn't give me a firm date or anything ...

XBOX 360 and all other gamers unite, I say.

Just because you play games, doesn't mean you don't have a life, but a lot of people bash on me for the same.

My wife and I love doing stuff like that together. We even play a lot of board games still.

Ah, the fun some people miss out on...

Well, it's not from their site. I recorded it from the broadcast and then posted it here for the Hotties with all respects and citations to its origins.

Chris Todd is not better than Brandon Cox. Just had to say that. Cox had his 2 or 3 implosions a year. Other than that, he was a gamer and he had laser like precision within a 25 yard range. He also showed a lot more velocity on his throws in that range than Todd does.

Todd will get us into big trouble this weekend. That's my guarantee of the week.

Easy there Crud.

I watched the MSU game last night again. I noticed that Todd had Trott wide open across field a few times and although he looked straight at him, didnt (or couldnt) make the throw. He opted to hit the RB straight in front of him. I think his shoulder may be a bigger liability than we have been led to believe.

Dean Green,

Please contact me as soon as possible. As a season ticket holder and fan I will need a list of things I can and can not do this weekend. Please forward me a list of the following and your decision on each.

1. Light beer or heavy?
2. Orange shirt or Blue?
3. Boiled Peanuts or funnel cake?
4. High five the guy next to me or just nod in approval?
5. Boxers or briefs?
6. Should I waste my time fighting the crowd at J&M Books or not?
7. Should I even attempt at getting on Gameday or not?
8. Should I yell for good offensive production or just a simple golf clap?

If you could please get back with me on my game day decisions for me I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Patdyeswildturkey

Any speculation on your part as to why he might leave? Is this a Marcus White-type thing or a Casinius Moore-type thing? Or am I completely off base?

1:10 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

Phil Snow always called Moore (I'm doing this phonetically) "kuh-NEESH-es-ness". Makes me laugh every time.

I can't really speak authoritatively on Ramsey's situation, so I'll just let my earlier statement stand:

My best guess is that he won't be back.

I am not sure I understand that really. If he can't play here, how can he play there? Or is he not playing anymore and just going to school?

i would be embarresed if i had meddling parents as a college athlete. Its really sad, its a Toney Douglas deal all over again. I would love to keep Chaz, but if he wants to go back to Mississippi, then oh well. I guess he can chop block in Starkville or Oxford. Do you think Chaz has adopted that moniker as the chop block king, like a car tag, tattoo, gold four fingered rings that say chop on the left hand and block on the right, it would a hell of a marketing gimmick,

It's too bad that the Dean of Student Affairs issues that statement to students (that probably need a warning) and AU fans/Alumni take offense.

Booing is a cowardly, redneck action. Sitting up in the stands as if in an ivory tower like a Roman Emporer giving thumbs up or down. Nice......I guess it helps you guys with the self esteem problem huh?

We have a major group of top level recruits and ESPN Gameday coming in this weekend....so if for no other reason....can the cowardly 'necks at least control themselves for this game?

Sorry I haven't been more active here today.

I've been out doing the Blackberry vs. iPhone thing. I do it all for the HOTTIES, though, so your patience has been and will be appreciated.

I woke up today thinking the BB would win. Now that Alltel tells me their version of the Curve doesn't have wifi and GPS is an extra 9.99/mo., I'm leaning toward the iPhone.

I need some closure!

Word is that Chaz had an issue with AU staff about his work out schedule. He felt he could play, they did not. Supposedly he has a real issue with his back. I also heard he has some "involved" parents.. Just hearsay, of course.

Jay,

While the content will probably be irrelevant by then, ESPN archives all of the Dr.Lou segments for us to enjoy. Just search "Dr.Lou" on the ESPN main page. Also, they usually replay it throughout the weekend. I'd think they'd replay it during college football live tomorrow. I'll try to rip it.

here's the link to last weeks':

I was talking to one of my buddies about this letter from Dean Green, and something he said making fun of it (he's an ignorant UF alum) made me think:

What exactly is Dean Green expecting this weekend to feel the need to write a letter like this? Certainly, he's not counting on an Auburn blowout. Damage control before the fact makes me think he doesn't have very much faith in the team or the students.

Gotta think positive, Mean Dean Green. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner Positive!!!!!

War Damn Eagle.

Blogger WDCWE said...

I said this earlier, but it is in response to last season where some in the Auburn Student section booed Brandon Cox after turning the ball over on two or possibly three possessions(I think it was the South Florida game). He knows that a lot of people are screaming for Kodi and doesn't want to hear any boos. That's it. He isn't speaking to the vast majority of students, but the hard headed idiots who think is funny to do disrespectful things to LSU.
