Blackmon update
Hey everyone. Just spoke with Tuberville about this alleged situation involving Tray Blackmon.
The coach said he hasn't spoken with Blackmon in a few days, but wasn't aware of any major career-changing decisions involving the injured linebacker. Blackmon is out for the season after undergoing wrist surgery last month.
Rumors began to swirl when Blackmon, who has one year of eligibilty remaining, wasn't spotted on the Auburn sideline last weekend.
"It's up to him," Tuberville said. "As far as I know, he's going to be here."
ALSO OF NOTE: Blackmon has family commitments that could prompt him to consider some form of professional football or other employment options. If that happens, Tuberville might not be the first guy on Blackmon's call list. I'm working to talk directly with Blackmon ...

No more buyouts ... they were initially created to protect the school ... but they are hurting the schools now ... now everyone would rather take the risk and be flexible.
Jet,
I cannot give up hope because of the fact that I lived through the Doug "I can't even make it as a coach in high school" Barfield years. My hopes paid off with the hiring of Pat Dye. We have gotta believe, I mean we did not get much of a chance in "The Swamp" last year either, but a fresh. kicker made the winning kick not once, but twice.
That settles it. Michael is realy ben tate! I always knew there was something fishy about you with your funny comments.
aub52. I'm with you. I'm not happy about it, but I'm with you. I go to a game and say never again will i believe this team can win this year. And then I guzzle some more kool-aid and it starts all over again.
I prefer the grape Kool-Aid.
I'm a tropical punch girl myself.
Hard to BLEED ORANGE and BLUE and not keep the faith. I still say that AU goes bowling.
I haven't been an auburn fan as long as you. I ain't from around here ;-) But once I became one, I fell hook, line and sinker.
I am not Ben Tate. I am actually Tray Blackmon, and I am about to play in the NFL. People are telling me this is the best decision made by an underclassman at Auburn since Adam Harrington left early. I couldn't agree more.
Who?
Steve, your comment pretty well sums up why I think Tubs has to go. EVERYONE knows next year will be do-or-die for him, so what OC worth his weight would come into this situation? Recruits would know the same thing, feeding instability which is a program killer. Apathy has replaced anger among the faithful and that is the true sign of a program in decline.
Good point, depressed. Lots of new HOTTIES lately. Nice.
crap. adam harrington was a mediocre auburn bball player who left early for the nba and I am pretty sure he never played. Too obscure? Should have used Stanley McClover shouldn't I? he is more recent, but unlike Blackmon, at least he had a good season at Auburn. Harrington seemed more fitting.
No, no Micheal. I was playing into your joke that he wasn't all that good so I had forgotten about him. Guess it didn't work. Or maybe I should have put a ;-) behind it.
Yea. Definitely got some new HOTTIES around. Great to see.
Oh, now I see the sarcasm font you used. My bad. smiley face
note: I just did this post with one of those smiley faces with the colon and parentheses, but I thought it looked girly, and I thought to myself, "Mr T would never put that sissy smiley face in his post." So I deleted it and replaced it with this post with the word smiley face. that is all.
All of my decisions are based on what Mr T would think of me, in fact.
depressedAUfan, I think most people realize that Tuberville can turn things around. We were ranked unrealistically high early this season because of Tuberville's reputation. As for getting an OC to come, I don't see that as an issue. Money talks. Think about it. You can spend $6 Million to get rid of Tuberville or you can use some of that to attract a big name OC.
From what I am hearing in economic circles, the economy is about to take a big downturn. I can't reveal my source, but basically I heard that businesses are cutting back their inventories because of growing concern that has developed in the last couple of weeks.
During these very troubling economic times, it makes sense to stick with Tuberville and bring in a proven OC.
Crack. Me. Up.
You also have to think about the egos some of these coaches have. They KNOW they can turn it around and can secure CTT's future and their own.
I don't want to go out on a limb, but I am predicting our next OC won't come from Troy. It will likely be an OC from a high profile program, possibly in the Big 12.
These facebook comments really worry me. I take facebook very seriously, it is a very good inside source of information. For instance, I read a couple of weeks ago on my daughter's page that she was sad and couldn't wait for Halloween. When I got home, I confirmed that she was in fact sad and really couldn't wait for Halloween. I have no reason to doubt it.
The quality of humor at HABOTN keeps going up. Good times.
Steve: my fear is that OC is not the only problem we face. I think our problems are deeper than that.
I see things this way(while I understand what some of you say about the money)-at this point and time I think CTT's reputation for ruining OC's overrides the money and reputation issue. Remember when the Raiders had to go to like the 3rd or 4th choice to hire Kiffin? It wasn't the money, it was the fact that Al Davis is well known as a coach-killer. Coaches with a future would rather wait for the RIGHT job to come along rather than the NEXT job to come along. I look at Petrino when he was here. The offense was good when he was here, but nowhere close to what he has done at his other stops. And that was with one of the most talented offensive teams I have ever seen. And don't you think candidates MIGHT put in a call to Borges and/or Franklin? That's just my.02 worth and that is why I joined up here- reasonable discussion. Great site, Jay.
Depressed, you are definitely on to something. Tubs = O Killer.
Wow, Jay G is letting threads get over 200 nowadays. Did out 800+ night get to our fearless leader? Say it ain't so!!!
sorry- our 800+ night
dear leader says:
680 the fan in Atlanta is throwing around rumors that Tubbs is attmpting to get out of his contract and go to CLemson.
tennessee tiger, my dog "codeyblue" (named after my former vocation) has the same diagnosis. (my avatar is a a photo of her meds) best of luck to you. our prognosis is not good.
Matt: Awesome post.
Bear: Old dog, new tricks.
anonymous: Atlanta radio doesn't know anything about Auburn. Period. I haven't seen one Atlanta radio reporter here since 2006.
Hard to "report" when you never talk with the people who "know" what the "news" is.
some of you guys who live in GA - Is talk that GA isn't recruiting the same NFL calibur talent that they used to common? New? Blamed on Richt?
Max, can you start a rumor about me going to ESPN?
I know I said Aug. 10, but maybe we can start now and it'll get big enough by that time to be significant.
It'll be me and Hannah Storm doing Cold Pizza, uh, First Look on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm "only" asking for $150k because of the economy. I'm willing to take the hit to help ESPN maintain financial stability.
I started a new thread. I can't take it!
jay, nice of you to think of ESPN's financial situation, since today it was reported they are looking into buying TV rights to the BCS games, they need to save money. 150K is not too much to ask, IMO. Jay G & monica doing PTI with MR. Sensi playing stat boy. I can see the ratings now. Yes, welcome all the new HOTTIES. I guess (hope) this site/blog is taking off and the PTB realize how important Jay G is come Dec. 1st.
