Sirius: On my bad-guy list
So I get in my vehicle today for some Sirius radio -- specifically some old-school rap on "BackSpin" -- but that didn't happen according to plan. The Sirius/XM merger became final today. With that evolution came a major change in channels which, sadly, claimed my man Dana Dane and Kurtis Blow and the whole crew at BackSpin.
I'm really unhappy. I'm ready to crack skulls.
Here is a story about the situation.

They screwed me as well Jay. By the way, have you heard any of the rumors surrounding Blackmon? Apparently, he is gone from the team and entering the draft next year... Hope he enjoys Canada, because thats where he will end up playing.
I'm glad they finally got all this merger stuff done. I got Sirius last year solely because they carried AU football and then they switched to XM before I listened to a single game. Of course, the privilege of adding "The Best of XM" will cost a few bucks a month. I wonder if Satellite radio will even last another 2 years they way they are bleeding red ink.
I have heard something that made a little sense to me. It was that all of our injuries is due to a lack of conditioning for the player on the strength coaches part..I am sure this has come up already but I would be interested to get the HOTTIES thoughts on the subject. Who is AU's strength coach?
The only good thing about the merger is that I can now listen to SEC football games again, the main reason I got it in the first place. OF course, I do enjoy listening the Radio 606 and the Premiership live games.
I hope the change of Sirius 74 from Classic Blues to BB King's Blues isn't that big of a change.
That's my favorite station on there.
I am driving down to the game Saturday. Be the first game I've been able to go to this year..SIKED
Jay, nothing like losing Backspin and picking up Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour.
Jay,
A man after my own heart. I have Old School Rap as one of my 5 channels as I am a child of the 80's. I hate all this new rap. Got in my car and the channel said empty, so I was wondering. Damn, sad day. That was a great channel. It had all the hits from LL Cool J, Run DMZ, Easy E, NWA, Ghetto Boys, basically all the rap groups my parents banned me from listening to in middle school.
Jay I feel your pain...I just poured out a 40 of Dr. Pepper for our lost channel. Word...
I too was angry this morning when all my channels changed. What a rude awakening this morning. I wish they had given me a little warning! I need time to get prepared for change.
Jay, i assume that is this Dana Dane?

My wife, a few weeks ago, said the people on 009 (The Pulse) said they were moving to 012 "in the coming weeks."
Now we have six channels gone, approximately 10 with new names ... and nobody mentioned this on the air? I know Kurtis Blow would have told me that BackSpin was bitin' the dust.
I hope their final song was "If It Ain't Ruff It Ain't Me".
I'm super mad about the absence of Backspin ... I hit my No. 6 preset hoping to hear some Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock or a little Kool Moe Dee or even some EPMD and .... wait for it ... nothing.
NOTHING!!!!!
Nothing.
Nothing.
Jay, do you think any gaming system will come out with a hip-hop version of Guitar Hero or Rock Band ... How awesome would it be to, instead of a guitar, have turntables? ... that'd be rad.
Thanks ... Nuff Said
I got my email yesterday about the changes. The thing that has bummed me out was when SEC went to XM. Now I have to pay more for that and I don't care about Boprah.
Anon, I think a software company is working on a DJ Hero or something like that. I read about it during the summer.
Please pray for me. 1) I live in Durham, NC and everyone around here has already written off football and is now in full fledge March Madness mode. 2)I found out today that N.D. took over 12pm spot on CBS this weekend. Don't they have NBC? and 3)I can't listen to Eazy E, NWA, Public Enemy or any of the other wonderfully negative rappers I grew up with anymore because some one thought it was a good idea to add cinemagic to the list.
Needless to say I am a bit bummed.
I just spoke to the Sirius folks after reading your post. I wanted to upgrade from my current Sirius service to XM everything so I can pick up AU football. They said that my satellite radio that came with my 2007 model car will not accept the upgrade, and that I would have to purchase a new radio. That sux. What a rip off.
