The Big Board: Men
Something I'd like to do here is update you somewhat regularly (maybe every two weeks?) on how all Auburn sports are doing.
I know you're probably not interested in the minute details of the tennis team, for instance, but my guess is you're willing to invest five seconds to see how they're doing in a general sense. Since Jay Jacobs says he's striving to make Auburn the nation's "pre-eminent athletics department", let's take a peek at Jacobs' progress.
Here's your glance:
FOOTBALL
2008 final record: 5-7 (2-6 in SEC games)
2008 finish: tied for 4th in SEC West
Next game: A-Day game, 3/28/09
BASKETBALL
2008-09 record: 5-4
2008-09 rank: none
Next game: @ Virginia, 12/20
BASEBALL
2008 final record: 28-28 (11-19 in SEC games)
2008 finish: 5th in SEC West
2009 opener: vs. Elon, 2/20/09
CROSS COUNTRY
2008 final record: Finished 5th at the NCAA Championships in November
2008 final rank: 13th
2009 opener: tba
GOLF
2008-09 record: 23-28-1
2008-09 rank: none
Next match: John Burns Intercollegiate (Wahiawa, Hawaii), 2/18/09
SWIMMING & DIVING
2008-09 meet record: 2-0
2008-09 rank: 8
Next event: vs. Texas, 1/8/09
TENNIS
Fall season record: 11-13 (4-7 in SEC matches)
Fall finish: 4th in SEC West
Spring season opener: Auburn Spring Classic, 1/23/09
TRACK & FIELD
2008 final outdoor record: Finished tied for 2nd at NCAA Championships
2008 final outdoor rank: 2nd
2009 outdoor opener: at Georgia Tech, 3/27/09

You trying to get him fired. That doesn't look to good.
Thanks for reading, FSJ.
After looking at the big board hiring a coach with a 5-19 record seems par for the course.
I'll have to do some research to see where Alabama stacks up...
I am sure we are equally inept...
Jay,
I read the thread what does One mean?
Thanks Jay. The one thing I really liked about PM's Tracking the Tigers blog back in the day is that he'd update us on the progress of various Auburn sports, without, as you say, bogging us down in the minute details of tennis. I appreciate that very much. One more thing that truly makes this the HABOTN.
"One": FSJ is noting that he's the first poster.
I'll have to summarize the women tomorrow. Two long lists would be too much to ingest at once.
md, its something the kids do to let everyone know they're the first to put a comment on the blog. its a very popular thing in places like Tuscaloosa and Starkville, as well as on various techie and anime blogs on the internets.
Thanks PF,
I'm. not up to date on these things.
No offense Jay we're ok w/o the womens stats!
Got my priorities, gotta go watch "The Office".
Late
I have a daughter.
I think women's stats are necessary.
Golf scholarships = good.
who is this loser that calls himself "mdaniel", i mean seriously he must have no life
You forgot the Equestrian Team
So, we are a track & field and swimming school. Hmmm
Does Auburn have a male equestrian team, Phred? When they help with car pool at the elementary school it's always chicks.
youwouldliketoknow, mdaniel is a regular here and we don't usually participate in childish name calling. I think you are looking for the al.com forums.
Kristina ... Oh. Makes sense now that I think about it.
Okay, how about a rodeo team? Do we have one? We should if we don't.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Women + horses....
Giddyup!
Jay I think what's more important is these kids graduation rates. Wins and losses are just part of the picture.
Thanks
Jay Jacobs
How's the equestrian recruiting going? Any 5-star horsies out there this year?
Definitely liking our well-rounded blog. I'd also like to make sure we note the APR of women's tennis.
Seriously, though; even though football pays the bills, it is nice to keep up with how the other sports are, or are not, doing. I'm pretty sure I won't get this through another medium here in Charleston. Keep up the good work JGT.
I wouldn't mind seeing a little more coverage on the Women's Bball team... seeing as they are actually doing something positive this year.
Alli Smalley is from my hometown... from what I have been able to read, she's been doing very well for the Lady Tigers this year.
I kind of like the idea of some coverage of other sports. I had heard there were sports other than football. I just never really got into them.
Do the horsies on the AU equestrian team hate the UAT horsies?
I like to hear about ALL of Auburn's sports.
Denny,
Your team is struggling with the team coached by Andy "Cabbie Beater" Kennedy.
Track and Field is usually pretty competitive.
Swimming fell back a little last year, but didn't we have some of our stars sit out due to Olympic training? Or am I dreaming that?
So you're bascially saying Auburn sucks, Jay?
Those are certainly below average measures.
I would like to see a comparison between these stats and where the programs stood prior to Jay Jacobs being named AD...
People talkin bout horses! My wife was on the inaugural equestrian team in 2002.
This is the slowest night I can remember in HABOTN history.
Dang, this is going to be a painful tradition.
That is Rick's Team now.
and the cabbie probably had it coming.
Thanks Jay G. That is some research that J Jacobs may want to look at...
(damn we've got a lot of Jays around here...)
PF = nice way of calling Faker a big ole nerd.
MDanile = disturbing trend you're establishing - gotta keep my eye on you.
Don't discount swimming at Auburn, if we were a country, we were the in the top ten in the world in medal count at the last Olympics.
I too would like to see some of the stats from previous years before and since Jacobs was appointed. I know that the winningest coach in Auburn Swimming history inexplicably resigned a year or so ago and is now running the Aquatic Center here in Charlotte NC.
Sound familiar?
Mdaniel ...
The eyes of Monica are upon you,
all the livelong day.
The eyes of Monica are upon you.
You cannot get away.
... Do not think you can escape them
At night, or early in the morn
The eyes of Monica are upon you
Till Jay G blows his horn.
Good morning, all. I was thinking about that yesterday, Sullivan, when I was trying to make a point that since JJ has gotten there - and JG - that Auburn athletics have slid downhill. I'm afraid it will only get worse as long they are there.
although, I do hope Chizik proves everyone wrong...
Somebody hit fast-forward till 4pm for me. This is going to be a long boring day.
It looks like assistant coaches will start being named after Saturday. That should be interesting.
In your gut, Eddie, who do you think they will be?
Monica, regarding your comment about FSJ: if the shoe fits...
Jet,
What lyrics, you may have missed your calling!
Morning All!! Passing through all the notes from yesterday, and there was something mentoined about an article by someone named Whitlock? It had to do with the coaching search. Just wondered if anyone has a link or can direct me to it. Also SteveFC got me just a touch giddy with the supposed staff talk, and just wish we had a little more of an idea where Coach C is looking for coordinators. Then I came back to earth and remembered we are really not going to know things about this group until it is released from the actual parties involved. Personally I kinda like that idea. Unfortunately I'll have to learn to be patient again.
http://www.comcast.net/articles/sports-general/20081218/Whitlock.Gill/
here's a link to the article, mrtommyd.
Thank you Luv
I just read the article by Whitlock. It just bothers me when there are inaccuracies in an otherwise good piece. He states that Tuberville had 110 career wins and was 7-3 vs. Bama. He was actually 7-7 vs. Bama in his career.
Also, the article says that in 1984, Nolan Richardson was the first black basketball coach hired in the SEC. Arkansas didn't join the SEC until 1992, so that is also incorrect.
I guess I'm just being picky.
Wow, quite an article. And I think one passage kind of says alot:
Anybody, regardless of color, can get screwed when a group of ego-driven politicians decide what to do about a coach who threatens their influence.
And after reading it, I hope the Auburn faithful (including the ego-driven politicians/boosters) will be patient, and allow Chizik to mold this team into a winning organization.
Back on topic- didn't the diving group win a championship last year?
Correct on the Arkansas thing Jim, but they did win the NC as an SEC team
Yes, it was quite an article. I agree with you, mrtommyd, I hope everyone is patient.
Jim, ya know what - I totally missed your point - nevermind
Luv- My gut feeling has the following:
OC/QB- Pat Nix
WR- Shane Wasden
OL- Stacey Searles
TE- Joe Whitt Jr.
RB- Bouleware
DC/DE- Rodney Gardner
DT- Mike Pelton
LB- Joe Whitt Sr.
DB- Jeff Koonz
That is just an educated guess on my part.
Wow Eddie, isn't Bouleware the only one on that list without Auburn ties?
In your humble opinion, do you feel they are good choices?
Steve- That would be correct.
Luv- I like the majority of them. I would be questionable about Nix, but I actually am not so much the doom and gloomer about him.
Dye said we needed a bunch of coaches that loved Auburn. I take that as a hint of how the staff will be made up.
They look like a downgrade to me, but I could be wrong. I do think we will miss Gran, Nall, Price, Dunn, and Willis.
Does Joe Whitt Sr want to coach again?
I think adding the whitts are a great idea and I would love to see Rodney Garner as the DC. Patrick Nix is probably a solid choice at OC, although it may disappoint some that want a more flashy offense.
I, for one, am glad that Chizik is starting with a "clean" slate.
Steve, those are exactly the coaches I'd have on my list. Of those, I think Price & Dunn are the hardest to replace.
I still hope that Willis ends up remaining.
I like Eddie's list in terms of good recruiters.
I would like to see Tracy Rocker return. In terms of all time players, he should be on the list with Sullivan, Beasley, and Jackson.
Steve- I don't agree completely with that statement. Here is my comparison to the old staff:
OC- #@$@#$K to Nix- Anything is an upgrade.
RB- Gran to Bouleware- Preceived downgrade, but not sure.
WR- Knox to Wasden- Huge Upgrade
OL- Nall to Searles- Upgrade in my opinion and most others in the SEC
TE- Ensminger to Joe Whitt Jr- Upgrade, especially with recruiting.
DC in general: Rhoads to Gardner- unknown, Chizik will probably have a big hand in it, and if so, upgrade.
DE- Price to Gardner- Upgrade big time in recruiting, put probably not so much in coaching.
DT- Dunn to Pelton- Draw
LB- Willis to Whitt Sr- Draw. Whitt Sr is an awesome coach and good recruiter.
DB- Rhoads to Koontz- perceived downgrade and probably so because of youth, but potential is there to be a great coach.
My 2 cents.
I like Willis also, and would like to see him stay, but if Whitt Sr stays on, there is no room for Willis. Whitt Sr is the Mobile guru and LB coach, same as Willis. The question to weather Willis stays is if Whitt stays in my opinion.
Thanks, Jay. The internet is full of unsubstantiated opinions. It's good to see some facts.
The Georgia State University Athletic Director was fired yesterday. The reason for the firing wasn't made public for personal reasons. The centerpiece of her statement of pride about her work was the basketball team had a 2.01 GPA. hmmm
I think getting a football program going was the best thing done on her watch.
BTW I switched avatars. I wanted to make a statement about how much Charles Barkley loves white people.
The man will do anything for attention.
I disagree with Nall and Dunn. The secondary may be the biggest surprise because I have a good feeling about Koonz. I trust Chizik's opinion when it comes to defensive staff and there has to be a reason a young guy like that could follow him to Texas and Iowa State. I am hoping for something special there.
Knox is a big loss in terms of recruiting, but I don't know enough about Wasden. In terms of coaching receivers, I would be willing to give eddie a shot over Knox.
I believe Jeff Koonz has a lot of upside, but I'm biased because I know him personally and he is a good friend of my brothers. So somebody may have to take my beer googles off there.
The one good thing I think will come out of this coaching change is that the receivers will likely get a better coach. People have said we lack talent there. I don't believe that. I believe we have taken talent and turned it into caca.
Steve- I generally agree with your statement there. I will be excited to see Pierre-Louis play next year.
astatguy- I agree with you about Barkley. I have had the fortune to meet him in Chattanooga and he was a great guy and was very cool to talk to. He loves Auburn and I am sure he is just doing what he perceives to help Auburn out, and I know most disagree with him about it.
Absolutely Steve, the problem is/was not the talent. We have talent. It just seems like they were either coached down or not made a part of the offensive scheme.
Right on about our WR talent. We have recruited talented receivers that should be able to play in our (or any) system, and we haven't coached them up. I don't think we had a receiver get remarkably better while at Auburn in the last few years; they got older and stronger, but I don't think better. Some went the other way. I know we'll miss Knox recruiting, but I think Whitt and Chizik will more than make up for it.
Can't wait to see that little guy returning punts.
Did Eltoro sign yesterday?
Seeker- He signed yesterday, but is faxing his papers today according to Rivals.
I also don't buy the argument that we didn't have the players to run the spread. If that is true, the spread isn't that good of an offense. A good OC will be able to adjust his offense to take advantage of the skill of the players.
I will always be of the opinion that Brad Lester and Tristan Davis had talent that was really wasted. Injuries had a lot to do with that, but I think there was more than that. Davis, especially, had the potential to stretch the defense with his speed.
With the right coach our WRs will be fine. Anyone know how many 5* WRs Texas Tech has in their starting line-up? Zero. Crabtree is the only 4* if memory serves.
I have just come to the very sad realization that Tuberville will not be a part of the Auburn Family in any meaningful capacity until the Dye era is completely history. It will take CTT players to become coaches and administrators before he is welcomed back here, and that's a huge loss for us.
I read that Eltoro signed yesterday and would be faxing in his LOI this morning.
Eddie - Super sweet picture. Love that big smile on your baby girl.
sheesh - sorry - didn't see that Eddie had already answered that question.
AUBigCat, within the next couple of years you will likely see Tuberville coaching in the ACC, Big 12, or SEC. I read an interview with him somewhere the other day that said that.
Thanks Eddie/ Monica
Fulmer interested in the Iowa State job?
link
Now, that would be some of that ironic irony that I love.
The reason the spread failed was not because Franklin couldn't run it, it's because the assistants wouldn't buy into it.
I have no doubt that CTT will be coaching again next year. The point I'm realizing is that this was not just a coaching change it was a regime change. And ousted rulers dont get welcomed back while the new regime is in power
By the way, his name is Rodner Garner, not Gardner.
Also, has anyone else noticed the huge number of posters on sites that spell Tub's name with 2 b's. I mean, the guy was here 10 years, you'd think we could spell his name.
Franklin was the one they didnt buy into. The spread and his system was ok. The way he handled players and asst coaches was not
Looks like you have some competition as the spelling and grammar monitor, Monica! ;-)
Aubie they spell it the way they pronounce it: Tub-Ber-Ville
Thanks Mon about the pic comment. My baby girl is always smiling.
Aubie- Nice catch on the spelling. I had it wrong.
I find myself mis-spelling alot of words on here, or using the wronge ones such as whether / weather. Guess I should preveiw, but I don't have the patience.
The spelling issue that always killed me were the people who thought Stanley McClover was Stanley McGlover and Blake Field was Blake Fields.
Eddie, you've got beer goggles on at 8:45am? Sweet dude.
Never too early for Beer Goggles Scottie.
I keep forgetting, I need another L Habotn shirt if you have it. How do I get one?
Sorry to be picky, but at least I got compared to Monica!
I always like going to walmarts or maybe even walmark
Wish i could put my beer goggles on right now...lucky dog
My neighbor says IDEER insted of idea. I like that one.
The one that always bothered me is when people spell Spike Jones - Spike Jonze...
and Charles Barkely - Gnarls Barkley
Walmark is a good one.
I work for a company called Unum. You'd be surprised how many people can butcher a short word. It was even worse when it was Unum Provident... or as several clueless callers have said Union Providence.
... and M&M - Eminem
and momma and them - mommanem
Eddie,
Is your neighbor from the Northeast? Everyone I deal with up there throws random "r's" on the end of words.
too bad my wife doesn't agree. ha.
to get a HABOTN tee all you have to do is call 888-546-3131 and ask for Scottie B. too easy.
Nope, he is from Louisanna.
Aubie - You're a sweet talking thang!
Eddie - I'm wronge all the time.
LOL @ Walmarts and Kmarks
And on a totally unrelated topic it's very difficult to resist all the treats these baking fools bring into the office at the holidays!!!
Tell me about it Monica...i've been stuffing my face all morning
Scottie B, do you have any mediums available?
By the way, it is very hard this time of year to stay disciplined on a diet, but I am doing just that right now. Down 56 pounds and counting.
Monica,
It's amazing how much food gets brought in this time of the year. Thankfully I work from home two days a week otherwise I'd be 500 pounds.
We've got sports other than football?
Wow 56 lbs...impressive
That is super Eddie. I lost 22 pounds this year, but I'm up 2 pounds this month!
I am not for NIx as OC, but I can live with Nix as OC as long as the Calloway think goes away. Maybe its part of the master plan. Throw Calloway out there freak everybody out and then sneak Nix in the door. I think this All Auburn dream team could spell disaster. The Bamers tried that and it failed. Maybe it will work out for us.
I heard on dunnaway show yesterday Bobby from Homewood say that Calloway was oing to be in Auburn Saturday for an interview. Not a good thing to bring up while people are driving down I-59. I started looking for Bamer tags to attack. lol
Hey, WarEagleRK, they throw random "r's" on words down here too. I never heard it until I moved down here. I'm from PA, so it must further north you are talking about.
Calloway wouldn't be a bad hire. UGA was solid while he was there. It couldn't possible be worse than that cluster we just witnessed.
TB - when did bama do the whole all bama coaching thing?
Sure he's done a great job at UAB got them with a wining record.
btw, I wasn't trying to be ugly; just stating a fact. :-)
Wasn't during the Dubose era that brought in their dream team of former coaches and players.
Whats wrong with R's. R. you apposed of them? Rn't you glad u live down here? lol
Scottie B, a fax is on its way to you for one medium HABOTN shirt if available. Thanks!
Kathy, no Mediums. L and XL only at this point. i should've ordered a few smalls and mediums for the ladies but didn't. bad scottie b....bad!
OK, thanks anyway Scottie B. You did excellent on the shirts. No complaining from me. I'm one satisfied customer.
Kathy, i tried to call you a couple times but it kept going to voicemail. i'll just shred the fax i got. sorry i couldn't help ya. :)
Seeker I believed Mark called all the plays when Neil was "OC". I think they were very happy to se him move to bigger and better things. He would be horrible as an OC at AU. JMHO
I'm gonna mispel wurds, use wurds like gonna that ain't really wurds, gonna split my infinitives, splice my commas, and dangle my participles!
'Cuz ah can.
i dangle my participle nearly every day
Just make sure you dangle them over that way jet
The R's on the end of words are used by a lot of people in Maine, Mass, NY and the extreme northeast.
Trust me, I've had years of hearing about our "Great Idears" program from people up there, and then people doing here saying "Great Ideals" when actually it's Great Ideas.
I wanted to post a comment about Knox earlier, but I got busy. I'm glad Knox is gone. I don't know about his recruiting, but he wasn't a good WR's coach. When was the last time AU had a star at that position? A former player said he learned more during the week of the Senior Bowl than he did in his years playing at AU. If it's Wasden, I hope he can produce some stars.
Scottie B, I'm on a LONG telecon this morning, but it's not keeping me from the HABOTN! Thanks for your help.
My mother in law saws "warsh." Drives me nuts.
Last time we had a star WR was the 2005 season.
Even though they did well, Taylor, Mix, Obomanu & Aromashodu never really reached the level they should have due to Knox.
Truly I don't think we've had a great wr since Frank Sanders, right?
God made our good WRs.
Knox tried to undo His handiwork.
WarEagleRK, just yesterday a coworker said, "I done ate." OOOOO, that flew all over me. I looked at him and asked, "You done ate?" And he responded, "Yeah, and I done done it too." Then he said, "I've already eaten." I said, "Much better! Thank you."
The Black Coaches Association is considering a suit to get more black college coaches. I'm sure we'll be front and center for some more bashing if that occurs, but maybe some other schools will join us. I hate to see Auburn become the example for such a negative issue.
If Auburn's administration ever needed a coach to win it's Chizik next year. If he doesn't turn things around all the arguments about "best fit" and hiring the best coach available will ring hollow. Now that Gogue has claimed responsibility for the hiring the fallout could reach his level.

Anyone have a problem with the colloquialism "fixin' to"?
Well my mom says the following:
jury = Jewelry
warsher= washer
I love her and wouldn't change a thing about it.
Anybody listen to Jox in the mornings? Jay Barker-Evans butchers the English language daily. Memo to Mr Evans - "hisself" isn't a word.
I listed to Jox this morning and Barker was late coming in. Missed the first 15 min. during that time there was just one phone call about Auburn. Everything else was up beat. As soon he got there the Hate Auburn crap started. I can't believe Del Greco puts up wit it like that. It was lie a switch got pulled and all the hate Auburn calls started. Man!!
If you don't approve of ...
"fixin' to" as in preparation
"jury" as in diamonds, pearls
"warsh"
"Coke" as any soft drink
"restrunt" where you eat meals away from home
"Saridee" the day of week football is played on (yes, a preposition)
and a whole list of others, might I suggest to you New Jersey or North Dakota.
I eat grits, occasionally say "ain't," am always "fixin' to" do sumpin, and don't really care if it's the nails on some Yankee's chalkboard.
Izzle, Izzle, War Damn Chizzle!
My late Grandmother said "tuhrectly".
tuhrectly = directly
"Y'all go on up to the church and I'll be there tuhrectly."
Thomaston Ga I believe entirely uses the word chimbley. Although the time I spent in Bayonne, NJ it was explained to me the past tense for beat was bet. So there you are.
Here's one that I say that drive my wife crazy - Tump.
as in, "Did you tump that glass over?"
Anybody else?
Hey jet, don't forget the three meals of the day are: breakfast, dinner and supper.
pet peeves =
"continue on" should be "continue"
"I could care less" should usually be "I couldn't care less"
"irregardless" should be "regardless"
"well kept" shuld be "well kempt"
I should note here that those things are irritating. However, wehn I say something wrong or just plain ole funky it's "charming".
:-)
jet But I bet you never had a "samige" before?
I've had to explain the word tump a couple times, Aubie.
I was figurin on someone comin up with irregardless.
Monica how do you feel about the word 'conversate'?
Man oh man, nothing to do today but watch the HABOTN and wait on Jay's next update. Hate having to do it from work, but you do what you gotta. Luckily they haven't found out about this site yet.
I tumped over the Duke's maranaze last night when I was fixing a samige for supper.
My wife asked me if I wanted a Coke. I said yeah. She said, what kind? I said Diet Dr. Pepper.
I asked what was up with her brother for the holidays. She said "gonorrhea."
I said, "What?!"
She said, "Yeah, they goin' to Bwaynos Ires after that."
I don't hear the word conversate very often. It doesn't illicit a visceral response. There is some controversy as to its legitimacy. I do enjoy word controversy.
"My wife asked me if I wanted a Coke. I said yeah. She said, what kind? I said Diet Dr. Pepper."
I SO miss this! I HATE the word "pop" that they use up here.
'well kempt'....i like it. :)
'well kempt'....i like it. :)
Oh and the "t" in the word "often" is silent.
Yes, I could go on and on like this all day. Yes, I'm quite the life of the party.
sigh...
Pop takes some getting used to. Coke encompasses all soft drinks in my book.
I made the mistake of asking for grits in Stephens Point Wisconsin Hardees on very early in the morning after working late at the job site and you would have thought I shot the poor women in the head.
Yes, it does, TB.
I've been up here since 1995 and I STILL have to DANCE, MONKEY, DANCE! at parties and family gatherings with my "things they say in the south" routine.
Jet- LOL
My wife's an english major so I live with grammar nazi. But she is quick to point out that there is no such thing a "correct english" only "proper" english. If the person you are speaking to understands you then it's correct.
I can't imagine living in Wisconsin or the Dakota's, etc. There are only 12 people there, right?
my grandparents used to say "out toward the webo place" to imply crooked. ie, "that picture is hung out toward the webo place." no idea where that came from...
picturing Monica as a dancing monkey.....fantastic!
Lots of trees and deer up there in cheese head land. Dancing Monkeys now thats funny.
TB I had the same experience in Ohio several years ago at Kenyon College. I asked them where were the grits and they told me "in Georgia"! Yankee jerks! lol
They just don't know what they are missing AUBigcat.
1983 Shoney's in Waldwick New Jersey. I asked for sweet tea to drink with lunch. It was at that moment that I evidently grew a second head.
This is funny. Chris Weber "shoes" Barkley no respect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpR9s35n8w0
Sweat tea the bain of my weight loss program. I can drink gallons.
MOnica ... I am now convinced that you are the once conjoined, now separated, twin of my wife.
"often"
Her other: "Pen." You don't write with a "pin," it's a "pen."
Whatever.
Atlanta's Mary Mac Tea room makes sweet tea so sweet you can stand a spoon straight up in it.
Jet - You obviously have kick ass taste in women. ;-)
TB- Do you ever get the backrub from Mary Macs from I'm guessing is the owner.
Mary Macs is good food. If in Atlanta, go try it out.
Still can't get enough of Country's sweet tea. My wife's addicted to it. Every time we go through Auburn now we have to make a stop at Country's. Of course that stop also forces me to eat barbecue.
Nope no back rub missed that. We hit the place everytime we are there though. Heading that way in Jan. for a Cirgue show and plan to eat there Sunday before heading home.
This is really old and it has bad language in it. But some of you are obviously bored so I see it as a public service.
DANCE, MONKEYS, DANCE
Thanks Mon!
I used to be a lunch regular at Mary Mac's, but I never got a back rub, only "move along" looks, great food, and awesome tea. I think they're out of business, but I don't get down to North Avenue and don't know. Mary retired.
Man I hope not. That would be horrible.
I was in Portland, Maine last year and asked for a sweet tea, and it was like I was passing a note to a bank teller asking for money and saying that I had a gun.
Amazing.
What was worse two of my co-workers that went on the trip with me spent the entire week setting the south back 200 years talking in fake southern belle accents and using phrases that my great grandmother would have remembered her grandparents saying. It was not a fun trip.
Yall come down and see us ya hea!
even the folks up here are bashing us. ausome.
http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2008/dec/18/auburn-makes-it-easier-for-alabama/
Tea - no problem
Sweetened Tea - as long as you sweeten it
Iced Tea - vague concept
Sweet Ice Tea - huh?!?!
comparing two small town QB's:
http://alabama.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=22880
http://alabama.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=72470
astatguy- I ate there about two months ago. Hope it's still open.
The back rubs are creepy, but it's this one old lady and she walks around and does it to everyone. It seems like she is there everytime I am.
That's great. Tennessee talking laughing about OUR new coach. I'm done with this 5 and 19 cr@p though.
monnie, you feeling better today?
I was not happy with the Chizik hire, but someone please explain to me how Kiffen at UT is that much better.
Lane Kiffen has the Full Monte.
BTW, I love hearing all of your stories!
I have a very dear friend from New Jersey. After she knew me for a while she admitted, "I didn't like you the first time I heard you." She walked into a networking session of a conference in Albuquerque and heard me and a girl from Kentucky talking. She said she knew immediately we were "dumb and slutty". I said, "How could you tell so quickly?" She said, "Your accent." NOTHING to do with WHAT we were saying, just our accents. I pointed out to her that it was merely that Yankee Girl Hate that some ladies from the northern states have for we Belle types.
She loves me now and I love her too (even though she is a yankee AND an attorney).
Scottie B. I feel much better today. Thank you so much for asking, sweetie.
sweetie and hun two more great south words!!!
Haven't you heard Jim?!?! he was a GREAT recruiter at USC!! I could be a great recruiter at USC.
Oh yeah and he coached the Raiders to an illustrious 5-15 record. See ots those other four losses that make him soooo much better.
I'm ready for the dead period so we can get this coaching thing done.
