Auburn def. Arkansas, 94-57 (women)
Welcome to Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, where your Auburn Tigers are playing the Arkansas RAzorbacks. An SEC title is on the line.
This is your halftime entertainment. Dude in the middle is real. He has two puppets in front and two behind that "follow" his every move. Pretty clever.
- FINAL
Auburn 94, Arkansas 57 - FOURTH TO @ 3:42, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 83-49. Can the Tigers hit 100? - THIRD TO @ 7:45, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 77-48. Sherell Hobbs is the only starter still in the game. It's one of those days. This is Auburn's first blow-out win since the Tennessee game. Less drama makes Fortner happy, I'm sure. - FIRST TO @ 13:54, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 64-44. Fortner had to call a timeout early after Arkansas built a 7-0 run. Then the Tigers responded with a six-point surge. - Notable halftime notes:
Sherell Hobbs has 16 points.
Auburn shot 52.5 percent.
Bonner is back from her "injury".
Neither team hit a three-point shot.

- HALFTIME
Auburn leads, 54-32. It's a bludgeoning. - FOURTH TO @ 2:42, 1st half
Auburn leads, 46-26. DeWanna Bonner went down with a knee injury around the six-minute mark. She hasn't returned, but she's on the sideline. Everything seems OK. Auburn is just rollin' along. I bet they're shooting 55% or better. - THIRD TO @ 7:28, 1st half
Auburn leads, 35-22. Arkansas just seems confused on defense in general. They're not keeping up with people ... particularly Hobbs, who is killing them along the baseline. Over and over. The Tigers are on pace to score 100 points. - SECOND TO @ 11:56, 1st half
Auburn leads, 26-14. The Tigers have scored on each possession since the last update. Buckets are landing from everywhere. I don't think Arkansas has what it takes to guard Boddie, Bonner or Hobbs. - FIRST TO @ 15:58, 1st half
Auburn leads, 11-3. The Tigers are ready to play. They're not shooting all that well per se, but they've already scored twice on turnovers. Arkansas is small. - Arkansas called timeout at 16:56. Auburn was ahead 9-1.
- YOUR AUBURN STARTERS
PG -- Whitney Boddie of northern Alabama
SG -- Alli Smalley of northern Alabama
SF -- Sherell Hobbs of northern Alabama
PF -- DeWanna Bonner of central Alabama
C -- Trevesha Jackson of eastern Alabama

Scottie. I was thinking the same thing
Get some glasses
Looking good
What a game
Where are the commenters today? Taking a snow day?
WEG, I can't see that far!
Just lurking Jay. Keeping up with the game between you and gametracker.
I would love to see them score another 50 in the second half and break 100!
Hope they didn't pay money for that
Sorry, Jay. Playing in the snow is priority today. Interesting looking halftime show. Did they get snowed in on their way elsewhere?
Michael will have serious problem with those giant halftime puppets.
My snow day is likely to be tomorrow.
Since I can neither see nor hear the game, I don't really have any comments of my own.
Glad the ladies look good. It's almost tourney time and they need to be at their best.
Jay G, you should have taken the day off and played in the snow...or do your weeks run M-S
at least the puppets have more clothes on than their controller.
Crowd slimmed out be the weather?
Crowd slimmed FO SHO.
Andrew Gribble of the O-A News says the crowd is 5,000. I'll go with that.
Arkansas on a 7-0 run. Fortner called timeout.
Auburn still leads by 17.
better than the baseball crowd, though.
Mike Eargle of the PA juco school, just signed with oklahoma state...hopefully we didn't pass up on a good one
Love the snow, but hate it for the women. They would have had a big crowd today I think.

Jordan Hare covered in snow, that would be awesome to see a game with this...check it out
Auburn up 72-48 with 10 minutes remaining.
Thanks for giving us the game, JGT. We are beginning to get snow here. AUSon called from Auburn and said most of the University was out playing in the snow.
He said the snowman at the Lowder Building was great.
Thanks for reading!
Glad to hear Bonner is OK. Hate the women didn't have a bigger turnout for senior day.
We want 100!
Take it from one who knows, blow out wins at this time of year are a good thing. You can rest players, get some bench players some time, and even work on a nuance or two.
Good job to Nell and the other young ladies. I do notice Northern Alabama flavor on the roster.
Denny, it is quite interesting to compare the women's roster compared to the men's. All of the women starters and none of the men starters are from in-state. What is your take on this situation?
Puppets in the halftime show? Jay Jacobs must be fired.
Ladies rule!
Coach Crum ... Please accept my early happy birthday wishes.
Looks like we're whoppin' that butt today. Awesome!!!
It's been snowing like crazy in Macon since mid morning. Never thought I'd see it.
That was a beatdown.
That's a wrap: 94-57
ouch
Congrats to the Ladies!!! War Eagle!!!
puppets? we don't need no stinkin' puppets! wde.
My take on players from Alabama. Ok, I think that Nell has recognised that North Alabama is where the best basketball players are. I think that some of the players that Jay G. considers from Central and West, are really what people consider North Alabama. It is not so much that they have better athletes, they have much better basketball as a whole. Take for instance the female player who transfered from Robert E. Lee to GW in Montgomery this year. She is an Alabama signee, and they are welcome to her. Cassie Moore, an Auburn signee who transferred from Auburn to AUM was from Montgomery, no question she could play, big question about attitude and overall knowledge of the game.
Auburn's roster on the male side. I would say the problem is not the idea of having enough players from Alabama, that is Alabama's problem right now, they have too many players from the state of Alabama. I would say that Auburn has too many players from the deep South. Now, having said that, I believe that they have found some chemistry and are doing great things. If you look at the really good U of L teams from the 80s, you will find that we had a mix of players from all over. Take for example the teams of 82 and 83 and players that saw time. 2 players from New York, 2 players from Miss, and 1 player from Camden NJ. One sub from GA, one sub from rural KY, a sub from Indiana, you get the picture.
Continuing....
If Auburn could pull some players from other parts of the country, that would give them better dimensions. I think SEC teams are very one dimensional. Now, if they get the right matchups in the NCAA, they they have a chance to do some great things, but as soon as they see teams with great guards that have experience, that is all she wrote. Take for example when Auburn played Oh ST when Cliff was at Auburn and they were ranked very high. Scoonie Penn outplayed Doc Robinson and that was the difference in the game, in my opinion. Guard play in the men's game in the SEC is very poor and lacks sophistication. That is another thing, talent in the deep south is RAW. Coaches have to spend too much time teaching fundementals to players that should already know how to do pick and rolls, give and goes, how to play proper M2M defense, and so forth. Guards come into college without a clue as to what the role of a guard is. Better quit right now, I could go on and on.
