Daily update, 3/25
Hey everyone. Thanks for making yesterday a nice traffic day here at the HABOTN, where spring football took top billing. Judging from how the basketball team finished its game last night, football was the right choice.
So what do we have today?
Let's go through what a few other Auburn peeps had to say about the team's first practice. Before you ask, the team is scheduled to practice again on Thursday afternoon. Gene Chizik told me last night that he will not practice in the indoor facility -- "We're not going to hold any glorified walk-throughs during the spring," he said -- and thunderstorms are expected to take hold today. Rain chances around here are 75% each day through Saturday.
Keep that in mind.

The real-word HABOTN reference keep coming. Here we have Tab, an official HOTTIE, reppin' the blog at the recent Exceptional Foundation Chili Cook Off in Birmingham. This is the Alagasco crew, which won the "people's choice" award for their southwestern chowder.
Thanks, Tab!

TROOPER TAYLOR SPEAKS
- On practice: "It was organized, the guys knew where to go, they understood what each horn meant, so that's a big thing. Just learning how to practice is just as big as getting out there and doing X's and O's.
- On his willingness to make players to pushups during practice (as you saw in yesterday's video): "I was taught a long time ago whatever you tolerate or accept, you encourage. Dropped balls, turnovers, stupid penalties will not be accepted at Auburn University. Those receivers know that after today. It's a point of emphasis to me. You have to get what you emphasize. What they do with the ball after the catch, that's why you sign them. That's called NLI - national letter of intent. But teaching the fundamentals, how to take care of the football, how to practice, how to win, and try to practice like a game. That's what I was trying to emphasize out there."
TOMMY TROTT SPEAKS
- On his physical situation: "I was ahead of schedule big time. I think right now I'm probably where I need to be. We backed off a little bit. It was hurting me a little bit. Slowed it down. They took out that patella tendon, so just that pressure on the knee from where that used to be, it started giving me trouble, got a little tendinitis in there."
- On what he's hoping to accomplish right now: "I've been watching. There are little drills I can do. Little get off the line drills, work on your releases. They don't want me to be involved in any contact at this point. It's not ready for contact, ready to be messing with going this way and that way. They don't want me making 100 percent cuts. They don't want me coming out of a dig route or anything like that on the left knee."

oh, and sakasfjkfsdksdfjksdf
Jay G, did you see my post in the last thread? Is your license plate JAZZY JG?
Well said
I want to make my plate read HABOTN.
Jay, I think the president of the Holy Albatross Bringers Of The Noise club might already have claimed that plate.
I'll sue for it. We have an entire litigative arm here at HABOTN headquarters
Dear Leader, I think your next first comment should be:
"No drops"
HABOTN Legal Team? Awesome!
HABOTN has retained outside counsel in the form of the law firm of Dewey, Haightem and Howe. HABOTN will not stand for any infringement upon its well established intellectual property.
I didn’t know about the HABOTN legal team. I guess now would be a good time to stop selling unlicensed HABOTN merchandise out of the trunk of my car.
A request for a cease and desist order has been filed with the court in the past five minutes. The mattress tag police should be knocking on your door in ... 3 ... 2... 1.
I just knocked the mattress police out with a flurry of jabs, hooks, and uppercuts and ran. He should be waking up in 789, 788, 787, .....
Speaking of counting, I understand one of our new defenses under Ted Roof Rusted is that we will rush at the third Mississippi instead of the usual number five.
Michael knows exactly what he is talking about. JGT keep it coming I am really enjoying your updates.
if past performance in any indication of future success, the DBs should be able to allow the D to blitz much more effectively without getting burned by the deep ball.
it is also exciting to see a WR coach that knows what he is doing and expect his players to catch the ball instead of being 190 lb offensive linemen.
Don't worry, michael, you can always claim that you didn't know not to sell unlicensed HABOTN merchandise out of the trunk of your car because you were a dumbass. Mea culpa, and all that.
Fearless,
It's not time for the case to settle. The lawyers haven't billed enough hours yet.
I'm not a recruiting agonizer BUT, Scout has just issued their top 300 recruits for 2010. AU is not listed by very many recruits and definitely less than previous years. It's still early, but the infidels are listed by many recruits. We've got to turn that around. We are listed by only 1 of the top 30 OT.
You'll have to cut and paste this link.
http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&yr=2010
Trooper's got the right idea. Practice proper fundamentals everytime you are near a football.
I hated to see our WR warmups last year wherein the WRs caught the ball off their chest, while the coach was standing there watching and joking with the players.
In HS, the coach made WRs run bleachers b/c they caught a TD without extending their hands......
Get 'em Trooper........no tolerance for lazy fundamentals.
So, Trott's out temporarily, McKenzie's out temporarily, Slusher is done, and Vance Smith moved to OL. Do we have any TE's practicing?
Maybe the better question is, Do we need any TE's in the new offense?
Sounds like we're clearing the decks for Lutzenkirchen.
If I understanad this offense, the TE's are used wuiet frequantly. I am not sure who they are but we do have some more.
There should be a "q" somewherein there
Jet - where did the HABOTN Legal Team attend law school? It better not have been you know where.
I've heard the we'll-use-the-tight-ends-more story before.
I'll believe it when I see it.
Micheal don't worry, from what I've been told the HABOTN Legal Team is more interested in pursuing the big wigs selling stuff out of department stores unlincesend, not with guys just trying to feed their babies by selling stuff out of the trunk.
Plus my sources tell me the legal team consists of a golden retriever and a couple law journals circa 1967.
I love you, Trooper Taylor.
JG posted a nice pic of Malzahn's legs for you Monnie. you should be pleased. they are pretty nice. :)
It wasn't an Ivy League school, more like a Kudzu League. I think it was the Bargain Town Law Institute.
The legs are not one of his better features. A bit of a disappointment.
Kudzo League? LMAOOOO
SNORT
Major update: My server issues at work have been corrected and I can now hear HABOTN radio (and watch YouTubes)
Taking off for Memphis tomorrow night for the South Regional. What are my "must-do's" in Memphis. Calling all hotties for suggestions. Particularly places to eat and imbibe.
NO - Graceland, Peabody Ducks, Mud Island
TOUCHDOWN MONICA!!!!!! congrats.
have a good trip Hornet.
I'm trying to decide if I should comment on ScottieB complimenting another man's legs.
Hornet - Rendezvous!!
Good for the coaches demanding excellence. Our problem has been our acceptance of average for too long. Going through the motions will not cut it.
Rendezvous and the obligatory Michelob are on the agenda
Could you ship some back to Bmore please?!
Seriously every coach says were gonna use the tight ends more..every week they say that...
Anyone know what construction is going on at toomer's corner?
What to do in Memphis? Well, I lived there for 15 years, and.... well, ummm, I gues I mostly went to school or worked or hung out at someone's house. There is Beale Street if you are the drinking type. As you are well aware, lots of good barbecue around town. Will you be staying downtown or somewhere else?
sorry if i made you feel uncomfortable gatiger. ha. just callin' it like i see it. j/k.
Hornet,
May I suggest the sausage and cheese plate appetizer as well?
I know at 32 I am no world class athlete, but recovering from an torn left acl playing bball 2 years ago I know its not easy and you always have lingering effects.
Plus my doctor and surgeon said everyone responds different to it, some say it depends on your rehab, your body and some say its just a crap shoot at times, Donovan McNabb he came back like crazy from his but he had like 9 trainers and 8 hours a day to work on it. Trott should be fine, I worry about little Pierre though, his speed will take awhile to get back.
Jay,
Any word on McKenzies medical issues? or at least false stories to fill my head with?
I've decided not to comment on it. It didn't make me uncomfortable. You should see my work environment, we're VERY accepting. Just something I noticed. FWIW, I have some pretty good legs so you can feel free to comment on them good or bad.
Also 2 recruiting notes.
Word from my hometown of Dothan,AL, the BJ Chitty kid who comitted last year and then decomitted, is still 75% Auburn, word is he just realized that he should play the recruit game let people kiss his rear for a year, i guess i cant blame him but its annoying as hell. He wont play QB, as in HS, but can play WR at 6'3.
Also, WR in Mobile, Solomon Patton works at the gym I go to, good kid, real quiet, said he likes Auburn(note he brought it up due to my shirt(Auburn) not me) :) said he has a visit planned and likes the new staff alot, he said alot twice.
Ok thats all i have back to work..
yeah torn ACL lingersssssssssssssss forever, IMO.
michael - we're staying downtown. appy sounds nice Jet - I'll give em a go
Could someone provide a link to a current depth chart and roster? I'm interested in the one that had Fannin listed at WR, according to JayG.
Are there any charts out yet? I haven't seen any and have looked several places
Bham hacks reporting that Caudle would be first on the field Thursday. Hmmmm.
This comment has been removed by the author.
If everything is wide open like the coaches say then there shouldn't be any charts yet.
Depth Chart
Ok, it is not letting me link.....go to the roster on www.auburnsports.com and it will show Fannin as a WR.
That shows Fannin as a RB...hmmm
Gus M may want to do some lower body work w/ Yox......or if not that ........then at least some calf implants.
Yup I see Fannin at the spot for a while, I think we've got more WR than we know what to do with.
Jay G already commented about Fannin listed as a WR... it is a mistake.
This comment has been removed by the author.
I understand Monica caring, but Hoopie, WTF? Calf Implants?
This comment has been removed by the author.
The idea of calf implants is ridiculous.
Anybody from Phenix City ever heard of Blue Line Creek and know where it is? Apparently its banks are collapsing and I have to go save the day.
I don't like calf implants because they feel fake.
Someone asked about Toomer's constr earlier. They are tearing up the sidewalk to put in a new surface that will allow more rainwater to get to the roots of the tree. Also they are breaking up the soil around the tree in effort to improve its declining condition.
I don't like the implants because they don't feel right in my hand. Wait, what are we talking about?
Matt, you should never massage another man's calves.
The last time I massaged another man's calves he chased me out of the pasture.
D. Miller, I could be way off, but blue-line is a general term for a creek classification, not a specific name. They have water flowing year-round and are marked with a blue line on a topographic map. They are usually controlled by gov. agencies and have limits in place for nearby development.
With that said, there could very well be a Blue Line Creek in Phoenix City and I'm telling you stuff that is elementary to you.
I tried to save a dude's calf the other day. I was driving south on 231 from the Gump, and came upon a calf wandering by the roadside. I pulled into the driveway that appeared to be to the farmhouse for that field and knocked on the door to let them know they had a calf loose, but they didn't answer the door. I hope it didn't die or get wrangled by all of those calf thieves in the area.
I had seen a dead horse a few miles prior that appeared to have been run over. The cops were talking to some guys on horseback at a house just up the hill. What the heck was up with all of the loose livestock around there? Mend those fences, boys!
Needless to say, US-231 was way more interesting that I-75.
PF, your day was more interesting than mine.
Puppet Hour!
right now!
I like Bryan's depth chart there.
My only quibble is Savage at CB. I'm not sure about that. Chizik was non-committal about Savage's position yesterday.
Who would you rather start: Thorpe at CB or McNeil at S?
I'd go with Thorpe at CB, start Savage at S and move McNeil into a reserve role.
Jay G ...
I agree.
Where are you on the important calf implant issue? Does this require stem cells?
Ehyou,
Yeah, I thought about that as well, because I'm not familiar with a Blue Line creek in Phenix City. I know Uchee creek and Mill creek and the sort... But, there are many small tribs that are unnamed on county maps, I guess I figured the city engineer knew more than me... He just didn't give me a location.
Not exactly sure what he wanted me to do about it anyway... Mass wasting happens.
If I remember correctly Chizik recruited Savage to AU to play safety.
My guess is that he ends up at safety, as long as depth allows.
Today,I want to lower my expectations about the war on puppets. Michael seems like an able guy to lead the charge and all, but past optimism burned me and my feelings. Being let down is worse than having my fingers eaten by Kermit the Frog.
I need a ruling please....
I've often wondered how I'm affected by puppet hour since it's now 5:30 here in GA.
We are one or two injuries at OL away from a disaster.
Puppet Hour is late in the day, kind of whenever.
PF, don't lose hope in the war on puppets. Have you forgotten? People bite their hands off because of them. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN??!!?!?!
I'm not giving up. I'll always be on board, I just don't want to be too optimistic about the results.
Well, there have been a lot of changes in the war you should look forward to. We are really picking up the tempo. We are paying attention to detail. Our strategy is simple. If it stops working, we will just make it more simple.
Can anyone here do the mashed potato? How about the twist?
EYT...I agree with the potential OL injury disaster. It is time for some of the backup guys to step up. We will need them.
All our O-line has to do is play smash-mouth football.
I agree about Savage at safety with the way Etheridge and McNeil played last year, we are going to need some depth there. I could also see one of the younger safties in Thompson or Jemison moving to linebacker to help out depth there. Remember chizik is all about downsizing in size to upgrade speed i.e. Antarius Williams and Karibi Dede
Based on Kodi's comments, are we finally free of meerkat football?
Nice calf humor, fellas. Good work.
Just so you know, si has run a story calling Blake Griffin the puppetmaster. I can only assume this will make him hated by hotties everywhere.
Dan, yep, I think that's what Burns was saying.
Also: He's a fan of Jon and Kate + 8. Seriously.
I don't need calf implants. Arc trainers and genetics have given me massive calves.
Are we sure calf implants exist?
Non-exsisting
Yes they do. I remember an episode of fear factor where one contestant said he was going to get them if he won.
I think they do exist, I've heard of pro-wrestlers and body builder types getting them.
Calf implants to exist. Well the did a few years ago anyway.
Tab! Just saw you pic. Not sure how I missed it before. Way to rep the hotties!
massive calves - bow chick bow bow
I agree that McNeil should be more in a reserve/special teams role rather than be a starting safety.
Kodi like John and Kate?
I just saw a bunch of people playing cricket. I find cricket to be weird when played in America.
My calves are nice and robust
I've seen some guys play cricket over at Woodmere park across from the Shakespeare festival. It is odd to see it played here.
OK newby lesson time, what is puppet time and why do hotties hate puppets?

Puppets eat your fingers and hands. Do you like things that eat people's hands?
puppets are despised on the habotn. bears are held in low regard as well. oh, d. miller, i thought that "blue line" was a type of creek, not an actual creek, ie, it empties into the sea or major tributary to the sea. i lived in aburn for several years and never heard of "blue line creek" in p. c.
oh, my avatar, being a bear hand puppet, is much to be despised.
jgt, any chance on an end of season interview with c. lebo? 24 wins and a decent run at the end was pretty good.
Tnks for the info. I thought Chimps eat hands but if you say so I believe. I hate puppets but....
not as much as I hate bamatide
Chimps eat faces.
Ahhhhh true
Who's got the puppet(s) Jay????

ok, so hotties hate puppets, bears, and BAMA........ what am i leaving out?
My wife loves John and Kate + 8. I hate it. First of all I hate TLC, secondly I hate reality TV, and thirdly I can't stand that Kate is an a-hole and John is a pushover.
K.
Also PF - Chimps eat other stuff too

Michael explained puppet hour one time. I can't remember why it's called that.
I know it runs from 4-5 p.m. CDT and involves lots of tangentical, non-sensical themes.
I'm not high on Jon and Kate myself. It's so boring. Homegirl would be hot if she wasn't so boorish and unaware of her annoying ways.
Hornet - If you're still around - check out the street performance of -- dammit what's his name -- it was o nPBS here in B'ham.......JOHNSTON.
Richard Johnston -- fuhhh-rickin wicked.
I've recently discovered ARRESTED DEVELOPEMNT and it comes on one of my commercial free HD channels.
I've been able to see it from the start -- tight tight show.
Intervention is cool real-tv and I dig the Biography channel.
You mean Richard Johnson, the guitarist?
So, puppets are dispised but, that brings up a good question:
How are MUPPETS looked upon?
That hippy bass player with the receeding hairline rocks my world.
Jay-has anyone ever explored the theory that Chizik, Lolley, Perry, Whit were on the Petrino bandwagon and were moved along in different positions after 2004? I talked with someone today that had a great conspiracy theory. And now Perry was treatd similarly to Willis and he decided to leave.
If that is the case, Lowder and crew are back on top.
Just a thought. I am 100% behind Chizik though. it would just iritate me if that is true.
Is it not Johnston? With a T?
He's kinda a one man band type thingy? I saw a doc on him and it was really cool.
Its was a show about Mississippi blues

I have never even heard of Jon & Kate until this moment...glad I'm out of the loop on that one.
Back-Hair Barry,
Arrested Development was an incredible show, but 95% of the people that I know who love it never watched it during it's original run...they all heard about it later.
I guess that explains why it was cancelled.
I'm the same way. Was it not watched or was it that it was expensive to make?
Seriously, that's about the best written and tighly delivered show I've ever seen. My wife and I watch it together and that's odd. We have different tastes.
It started from the beginning and I'm up until about the time Heather boobs guest starred -- errr, Graham.
Hm I didn't notice a whole lot of difference between puppet time and all post after. Must be missing something.
I hate Kate and John + 8. My wife watches every episode.
i thought the blues guitarist of legend was "robert johnson". i've got his complete works, somewhere.
Well it looks like I am gonna be wrong. I figured Mike Anderson would be the new basketball coach at Bama......
I would assume that it is gonna be Grant since he's been there all day today.
My wife and I don't watch much TV. We never missed an episode of Arrested Development. It was genius.
I guess I will have to check out arrested development, never seen it.
On John and Kate plus 8, retarded show. Dated a girl who would occaisionally rope me into watching it... one more reason to be glad shes gone. That show is terrible to watch.
If you haven't heard of John and Kate plus 8, then you are either unmarried or your wife doesn't watch TLC - wow, how lucky.
If you're male, Jon Kate 8 = lame
Arrested Development had a Soap-esque quality, if you liked Soap.
I watched Arrested Development sporadically during its initial run. but those were the days before I had DVR, so I can't say I watched much of anything all that consistently. I need to rent those DVDs one day.
digger - Puppet Hour has been down lately. I must admit I have been too busy at work to make the hard pushes with the likes of Harrison and the rest of the goons form the 4-5:00 hour.
While I refuse to pay for premium channels, I've heard that if you like AD, you'll like Curb Your Enthusiasm. Evidently some similarities.
I am convinced the only show worth watching on today is Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Isn't Dog in jail or something?
It's a drama that I can't keep up with.
The funniest AD moment I can remember: A 30 something guy and his 18 yo cousin get up to sing karaoke together. He says "Just play the first song". It was Afternoon Delight.
Digger...Michael intiated Puppet Hour months ago and has been joined by many comrades.
My work slows around 6 pm EDT and I normally peruse the posts to enjoy a laff or 2 at the end of the day.
Any attempt by me to join the humor would be lame.
OK Michael, maybe later, love to watch pros do there thing.
Hoopie, you'd be better suited than I (my humor sucks), and I still participate....or you could always take over with a boring tax argument.
PF - come now. There are few others round here better suited for the subversive nonsense that is Puppet Hour.
Hi.
calculating inventory is a pain in the behind when people get fancy with their methods.
crap, another puppet hour missed. isn't the 1st round of the mens s and d happening tomorrow at tamu? giapetto is satan.
isn't baseball at Troy tonight? anyone got a score?
pf has got tigers and bears in his avatar? no es posible, amigo.
it's a tiger about to eat a bear
PF I think postponed to April 29th, no game tonight.
I Hate Bama
I hate em more
I hate 'em most.
I hate puppets and red elefunts
I think I win the Bama hate contest.
J-Z, I put my money on TurboProp.
This is what he said last night.
"If Alabama were lying there on the side of the road, shot in the kneecap, I would shoot it in the other kneecap, then pistol whip it in the face for good measure. I hate Alabama. Every Alabama win makes my heart sink. I hate them, and I would love to see the day where the drunken rednecks sit at home and do nothing...because the oh-so-great-tradition-university-bear-blah-blah-crap got busted for the 18,000th time."
Tonight ...
"When will the University of Satan-Earth fall? Right after I hit it for the first time in the chest with a blunt axe."
I see no reference in there to his willingness to contract an STD to give to Bear Bryant's corpse. Therefore, I declare myself the winner. The force is strong in Turbo Prop though. When are you going to let him start posting on here?
He's a man. He's 18.
He can post if he wants to.
Bring on the Turbo Prop! We need some fresh Bama hate to spew forth!
No DROPS!!!
so here's the suggestion box for Memphis this weekend so far:
AU1N04 - Rendezvous
michael - Beale St and BBQ
Jet - cheese and sausage at Rendezvous
BHBarry - Richard Johnson or Johnston the street performing musician
come on hotties - don't hold out on me
Definitely, the sausage and cheese plate as an appetizer and ribs for the meal at Rendezvous ... it's a tradition.
I'm jealous, Hornet.
Hornet,
There's a girl named Sharice downtown. She changes corners frequently, but let's just say Charles Barkley would get a DUI to meet her.

My lady friend didn't get into Auburn with a 3.8 GPA and an 1120 on her SAT..im scared now.
Jet and PF -- you guys share everything?
Take the ACT, JHag ... it's a little more manageable ... I've heard ... aim for the high 20s.
Its actually RICHARD JOHNSTON....
http://www.richardjohnston.com/music.html
Downtown is not the best place to find ladies of the night. Too many cops. Check out Brooks Rd, Hornet.
Michael,
I'm married, but thankfully my wife isn't interested in shows like that.
My favorite Arrested Development moment was when Tobias was a analist and a therapist and decided to combine the jobs on his business card. I would say what it said, but I'm not sure if that would be one of those things that Jay G. doesn't want put on here just in case kids are reading.
1120's kinda low. I'm assuming it's out of 1600 again?
jhag....my daughter didn't get into UGA with a 1260 on the SAT. Are the tests easier? or the kids smarter?
NO DROPS!!! Thank you Trooper.
I hate those knuckle-draggin', dead bear worshipping, ignorant Bammer rednecks.
Regarding your thoughts in re UAT, amen.
It's getting highly competitive out there.
I had a 3.25 and 25 on the ACT almost 30 years ago, and that is not good enough to get into Auburn today.
My little sister got into AU with a 3.6 and a 28 on the ACT... She starts this fall...
You wanna hear craziness, I didn't get into UF with a 1390. Luckily I had no interest in going there, applied for my mom's sake.
Turbo's a 3.7 and 33 guy. He's a got a ride ... somebody want to pay his rent for me?
I do.
wanna pay my rent? just for a month?
thanks, mon! That will help out tremendously with the house closing coming up...
Doesn't UF have something like 100,000 applicants every year now? Plus, they've got to limit freshmen enrollment because of the crazy transfer rules in Florida that allow anyone with a 2 year degree from a community college automatic admittance.
College applicants are up across the board. Pretty crazy. In another 10 years, a bachelors degree will be as meaningless as a high school diploma.
Congrats to Turbo!
Jet-you can help with my daughter's rent and or tuition. She will also start inthe fall, but you know that already.
Anybody else that wants to can jump in also. That will give me something else to do with the college fund.
My pleasure, Miller.
Jet and I know of several that did nto get into AU this year. Most of them did get into UAT however. Lower acceptance level, for what it is worth.
Wide is the path that leads to destruction. Better to enter by the narrow gate.
Yeah, with the bright futures everyone and there mom goes to college in Florida, its not for rich kids anymore (which is a good thing). Which is while I'll continue working on my masters while I work, and then maybe a doctoral degree.
I think Florida has something like 5 of the 10 largest universities in the nation.
Watch out, wtc. Turbo Prop might offer her room and board (on Jet's dime), and you'd have a "situation".
PF, would "relations" within the hottie community be considered incest?
Easy, boys.
WTC's daughter is a fine young lady.
And Turbo is otherwise spoken for. Plus, he solely dedicated to the proposition that UAT is evil and must be eradicated.
Dang, Wake. Now I wish I hadn't tried to make a joke. I should have known better. My humor sucks.
Mon, Gus + scrawny legs = Huge offensive mind...Agree?
