More commentary from Tuesday
Hey everyone. As I noted in earlier comments, I will not be attending Gene Chizik's Clichéfest this afternoon.
In lieu of that, please read some interesting things said by players on Tuesday.

In lieu of that, please read some interesting things said by players on Tuesday.
- WR Quindarius Carr on the spotty depth at his position: "There’s not that many out there. It’s a fast-paced offense so we’re constantly going back and forth. We don’t have that much of a break. We’re just getting into conditioning. There’s only like three or four of us. It’s alright so far."
**HABOTN NOTE**: Non-injured scholarship receivers is a group that currently includes Carr, Tim Hawthorne, Darvin Adams, Derek Winter and Philip Pierre-Louis. - QB Kodi Burns predicting his run responsibilities in Gus Malzahn's offense: "The quarterback definitely in this offense has to be able to run the ball. I will run some in this offense as well. I don't know if it will be as much as last year, but the quarterback in this offense definitely has to run the ball."
- WR Tim Hawthorne on things that are different with this new group of coaches: "It’s too early right now, but, overall, there’s a lot more structure. The coaches know what they’re going to teach and they know what they want us to learn. They have a set plan. I guess it’s more comfortable that way."
- LB Josh Bynes on defensive coordinator Ted Roof and his linebacking background: "Look at him. He looks like a linebacker. (Hearty guffaws all around) He's got the big legs, big upper body. From working with him, he's been a very very good coach and he's doing the things possible to get us better on defense as linebackers. He wants us more physical and get us instead of just being there and being a guy getting blocked. It's about us making an impression on the offense that 'Yeah, we're going to come at you hard and come at you fast and come at you physical on every play.'"
- G Mike "Big Snacks" Berry on the Tigers' new offense: "Compared to the old offense, we're probably going to run the ball. Grimes, the first day we met him, he told us he wants us to be the toughest O-line in the nation. I'm glad we're getting back to running the ball."

NEW PAGE!
I love that new page smell.
I bet Monica and her huffing tendencies love it too.
Heard earlier today that the Redskins were a possible home to Jay Cutler...any new info on that? If I were JC I wouldn't be too happy.
JC= Jason Campbell...sorry
I hear Jason Campbell might not be part of their future plans Prowler, so there might be multiple deals on the table.
Word that I heard was a straight up Cutler for Campbell trade. If this is true how many OC's would campbell have worked under in as many year? 8 in 8 years?
All things considered Campbell has been largely successful. I'm sure both parties would come out for the better. Cutler working for a guy that loves to bring in big ticket players that don't produce and Denver wants a guy that just wants to play football and be humble. Sounds like a great trade to me.
I read that Campbell's skills would not work well with what McDaniel wants to run, so I'm not sure how that is going to work out.
Who would you say is the best NFL player to come out of AU in the last 5 years?
ha @ new page smell
The Substance Abuse chick in our office just brought me pamphlets.
Off topic: Monica, I'm about to leave out to Knoxville to see the North Miss Allstars here in a few mins.
On topic:
"All things considered Campbell has been largely successful."
I would tend to disagree. He's been average at best as an NFL starter. He is hesitant to stretch a defense, usually relying on the TE or RB more than on the WR's.
I would say Marcus McNeill is the best Auburn player to come out in the last few years.
Put the scented markers down, Mon. You're killing brain cells. =)
Meet the new page ... same as the old page
Monica, what does the Substance Abuse chick want you to do with those pamphlets?
I was thinking Ronnie Brown (on and off really), but McNeil is a good choice.
I would have to agree with WarEagleRK with regards to Jason Campbell. I was excited when he was the made the starter, but he really hasn't been very impressive.
Jay Raitliff
Best AU NFL players in my opinion:
1.) Ronnie Brown
2.) McNeil - OL from the 2004 class
3.) Carlos Dansby
4.) Jason Campbell
5.) Heath Evans
Cadillac was great his rookie year and hasn't been able to shake the injuries since then, unfortunately.
Ben Grubbs is another good choice, however nobody notices the OL.
The better question I leave you with as I head to Knoxville, who is the greatest Auburn NFL player of all time?
Off the top of my head, I'll say Kevin Greene (I believe 4th all time in sacks)
I think she's supposed to roll up the pamphlets and snort rails of spray glue off her virile copy boy's abs.
I think.
Would any of you include Brandon Jacobs in the mix?
"Please mentally insert it." -- Peter Frankenschmidt.
Bo knows football!
Best Au NFL'r of all time has to be Bo Jackson! Longevity shmongevity! HE IS THE GREATEST AT EVERYTHING!
There is also Willie Anderson, Takeo Spikes & Tony Richardson who are still in the NFL. Richardson has been there since 1994.
Bo's also pretty good at hunting Bear.
I nominate Willie Anderson.
Probably Joe Montana is the best.
Being in Baltimore I am going with Anderson and Grubbs.
Campbell has been ok but Cutler they say in DC would be a big upgrade for the most important position.
Joe Montana is the best at hunting bear?
Cutler would be an improvement at QB for the Skins in every aspect except attitude.
From Michael Wilbon in The Washington Post.
The best thing that can happen to Jason Campbell is to get the hell away from the Redskins. In Denver, perhaps he'd find the stability the Redskins are totally disinterested in having. Perhaps in Denver, or wherever he winds up, Campbell would have the down-the-field receivers the Redskins aren't smart enough to find or develop.
Craig Stevens will obviously be the best NFL player from Auburn. You need look no further than the length of his arms for affirmation.
I don't know about Joe Montana and Bear hunting, he'd probably be concerned about the negative effects on his hair.
As Bo says; "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun that slow white dude."
One more to follow RK's comment.
If there is a difference it's that Campbell isn't a thin-skinned prima donna who refuses to return messages from his generous owner and rookie head coach. But apparently, the Redskins think that kind of insubordination is an asset.
I was always told that arm length didn't matter, but that NFL GM's appreciated arm girth.
A Cutler/Campbell swap would also not improve Washington's thin mustache levels.
No, I was saying Joe Montana was the most successful Auburn grad in the NFL.
And, ehyou - chicks dig him...
Karlos Dansby deserves a mention on the list. Jay Ratliff has to be one of the biggest surprises in the NFL, good call, Michael.
Joe Montana?! Michael, have you been sniffing glue??
I was catching up and I agree with depressed, Karlos Dansby has definitely done the AU name proud.
ONCE AGAIN - I'm very jealous of you, RK!!! grrrrr
Have fun.
Are you going to see guvmnt mule in June? There going to be somewhere in TN.
i love me some Marcus McNeill. one of my all-time AU favorites.
And I love the Chargers ... my pro team.
Dirty's (my baby sister) brand of humor.
The Flasher
Jet, if you had your email address on your profile, I'd send you a link to a video I think you'd enjoy.
Mon, that is ausome. haha.
Reggie White had a great career too. I will put him second behind Montana.
Monica, it was cute!
Luv ...
You may email me at zillathrilla@yahoo.com.
What's the word on new blog content, are we to expect anything today?
Thanks, Jet. You should have mail.
I'm surprised Jay G has let it go this long.
Flutie
I think James Brooks has to be one of the best or at least notable Auburn NFLers. Although Longevity and Rings award woud have to go to Steve Wallace right?
OK, next poll:
Who was the best double-murderer ever to play in the NFL?
I vote for O.J.
Willie Whitehead should be on that list.
al del greco scored the most points.
OJ, for sure.
The Juice, anyone see the Family Guy where OJ and Peter were buds?
John Matuszak?
Brian's reaction when Lois is in on the floor in the kitchen with O.J. standing over her is classic.
It's not Officer Reese or the "Where's my money?" with Stewie collecting his bet from Brian, but it's good.
I'm still a big fan of Peter fighting that chicken. I know we're due for another installment.
We very well might hit 500 comments on this thread. What is the most for any particular thread?
Prowler ... one night during the fall ... we went over 1,000, and JayG wasn't a happy man.
Several got spanked.
Didn't we hit 1000 one night? And were chastized the next day for it?
We can at least hit the halfway mark today, everyone hide your knuckles.
I know we have hit over 600 before naturally... I think the 1000 post thread was hit somewhat unnaturally.
The 1,000 was somewhat dubious.
I seem to recall Eddie, Michael, Monica were key ringleaders.
Denny had a dissertation on a variety of subjects that were quite entertaining.
I consider it the night where I took my toes out of the HABOTN water and jumped on in.
And left a ring around the tub. Now I find out that I can't make the club in the tub.
Besides Eltoro, which player will be the HABOTN poster child for next season?
Eltoro and Onterio.
Trooper is the Poster Coach
"You can't join the club if you're in the tub."
Bing Crosby: That's right Peter, and if your kids give you any lip you can beat them with a sack of sweet Velency Oranges. They won't leave a bruise and it'll let 'em know who's boss, there's nooo doubt about it.
I was not a ring leader. I think I missed most of it. Seems like Kristinuh and maybe FSJ had a hand in it too.
Wow, 1,000 posts?! That's dedication.
Why wasn't JG happy? The content, the amount, or both?
The Bull and The Canadian Province, what a pair!
http://jaygtate.blogspot.com/2008/11/saturday-overflow.html
This is the infamous thread
Michael is the HABOTN Historian.
Michael ya know Google Docs will allow you to post links to graphs so that we can all share your info.
What time is practice this afternoon?
oh i just read "virile copy boys abs"
JZ - this is why you're my favorite
virile - what a salacious word
I love G Gordon Liddy. He signs onto every show with something about him being "potent, virile, and vigorous".
Monica, google docs won't help me. All of my charts are written by hand in my spiral notebook. I don't have time to transcribe them.
I will accept the role of HABOTN historian to go along with my position as Queen of HABOTN. It is pretty easy to do a google search within the site and find most any ancient conversation. In fact, just today I looked up the first time I posted: Sept 3, 2008.
The 1000 post thread was the night I became fully engrossed in HABOTN lore. I have been hooked ever since. I had been dabbling for a while prior to that... But, it was the final nail in the coffin... And I've been largely unproductive at work ever since.
Best xAU in the NFL right now: Karlos Dansby or Marcus McNeill. Ronnie following them.
Best Double-Murderer all time in NFL: Gots to be the Juice.
Sept 3 eh?
Hrm... I wonder when my first post was...
Michael - Scan your documents, save them as .pdf's, upload to Google docs, and share...
how ya like me now
I'm still a dabbler for the most part, but there are certain days when I can contribute more than others.
ehyou - JZ is a salacious fella. Jet tried to warn me about him.
Quick....somebody get me a drink
DRINK!
I don't have a scanner Monica. I live in Alabama, we don't have fancy things like scanners here.
What kind of drink?
I know some folks in Alabama have scanners, I seem them on TV when the race is at Talladega.
The scanner tells me when the law is comin'
D Miller: quite easy to find. Put this in google search box:
site:jaygtate.blogspot.com "D. Miller said"
And then find the oldest. It would be a lot easier if you knew which month you started in, in which case you could search like this:
site:jaygtate.blogspot.com/2008/10 "D. Miller said"
Cool, my first post was about 4-4 not getting you a bid to the fiesta bowl.
Great point, Seanzie.
I know, great analysis right?
Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.
Anyone want to guess who's responsible for that little nugget?
No Google allowed.
Joseph Goebbels
I don't know what my first post was, but it was likely:
1. Time for Tuberville to go.
2. Hoopie, you're wrong.
Just kidding, Hoopster.
Didn't he also have a couple about tell people enough lies and soon they'll accept it as the truth?
Ted Nugent?
The thread that J-Z killed from the start has reached 507
Found monica's possible first post on Oct 5... it is a good one:

Jay - thanks for the great reporting on CTT conf.
OC's aren't going anywhere in my completely speculative opinion. We have a kick ass recruiting class waiting in the wings and CTT is committed to the spread. I'm going to believe that once he gets a little more comfortable with it he'll get out of CTF's way (a little).
None of that does us any good for the rest of this year. I'm just going to keep the cabinet well stocked and buckle up.
That's how we roll hag.

Now, I know how Mrs. Jet pulls everything I ever said to her back out and uses it against me.
Michael, you've solved one of the great mysteries of my life.
Either Seanzie is good...or he has mad cut/paste google skills.
If you print that and fax it to me I'll autograph it and send it back.
James Spann is in rare form right now.

Jet, Some of your Early Work
Are you kids going to play tonight?
I know Mrs. Jet will be watching ER from 7-10 p.m., and I know I won't.

No, he went for the pound of flesh and the easy ego trip in first class. Sure, he got Walker and Housel -- but that's low hanging fruit, dude.
Combine residual anger, the other band has a hit album, and the Tubs Fire-O-Meter wouldn't strike a match, well, it seems that you oughts to be monitoring jets again.
But they're wise to you -- they're using code names! And riding a stage coach. That's what you do when you're going to Texas. Or North Carolina. Or wherever.
We're still pulling for you. Stick with the ol' No. 1. It's your best pitch.
This game is fun.
It's interesting. Thats a doozy of a post from Jet.
He was a bit more aggressive in the early days. Time has cooled him.
Well everytime we lost a game a little of the fire went out, I think it happens to the best of us.
Y'all have me on a quest to find my first words of wisdom on HABOTN.
I got what I wanted. At least partially. We got a new head coach. A new attitude. A new direction.
No smart a** responses please.. ;-)
didn't you first appear at a campfire, FSJ?
Still waitin', Faker.
michael..you are probably right..
I think I found HABOTN and the campfires in the same night.

Hey, on a lighter note, Franchione is available.
Earliest I've found.
Thanks Seanzie...
Word. P.S. Not Funny. ;)
Alright folks, time to jump into the nightmare that is Atlanta traffic. Alabama folks, keep your heads up, weather is rough.
Speaking of ex-AU players who did time in the NFL ... now preparing to do time. From the Associated Press ...
DALLAS - Authorities say FBI agents arrested former Dallas Cowboy Leonardo Carson at his Irving home on drug-related charges.
Carson was arrested Thursday on charges out of the U.S. Attorney's office for the Southern District of Alabama. The charges allege he conspired to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana.
Carson, 32, a former Auburn University football player, was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2000. He played defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys during the 2003-2004 season before being cut in 2005.
Found your first chatroll statement on Oct 8:
FakeSteveJobs (guest): The whole Franklin loading his car scene today was very very strange. Thought that might have been done in the middle of the night.
This game is fun Michael. Had to go check my first comment, and oddly enough it had to do with Mr. Franklin. Although I think I actually got in the group as an anonymous person, since I couldn't figure out how to get my name to show up.
Puppet Hour, and we're just dying!
Dying!

I too posted a few times as anonymous. But it would be taking it a little far, even for the HABOTN historian, to try to figure that stuff out.
Where is Dear Leader?
Get the feeling he's about to launch one?
Wow...we're still on this thread? Where the heck is Jay?
I dunno. 600 is in view. Let's get it.
Who's with me?
I'm committed. Let's.
Why were the original puppets called Punch and Judy or even a Punch and Judy show?
Because puppets are satan.
Short, yet poignant.
Back in olden times, if you got accused of puppetry, you were thrown into water. If you floated, you were a puppeteer, and if you sunk, you were dead but exonerated. I miss those times.
This headline is currently on CNN.com:
"First lady, queen embrace; tongues wag"
well that's kinky.
What happened after you floated?
Gimme the ball. I want it.
you were hung along with your puppets, seanzie
Help me think of some additional titles for Michael, so he can add them to his business card.
The existing titles:
Queen of HABOTN
King of Eurasia
Master of Uranus
go with it, jet!
Michael ...
In re cnn.com post, I've just got to tell you: that does nothing for me.
this post concerning the Master of Uranus has been edited for content.
The English are into that sort of thing I guess, Jet
Duke of Hazzard
Earl of Campbell
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/04/02/vick.bankruptcy/index.html
Apparently Mike Vick will be working construction due to debt once he gets out of jail. Now see kids, that's why you stay all four years at school and get your degree, even if you are the for sure #1 pick. You never know when you might get in trouble for dogfighting and have to serve jail time and then have to get a real job to appease creditors.
Headsman, Puppet Ward.
Abbot of Costello
Will Vick be building an arena for his new UCF (Ultimate Canine Fighting) league?
It's official - Cutler to Bears
SO now J Campbell gets to play the role of Cutler and demand to be traded since his team considered trading him.
I bet Kyle Orton is pissed.
Just saw the terms, Cutler for Orton plus next two first round picks. Ridiculous.
Bears ate Jay Cutler?
Man, they are brutal animals.
that missle fuel will get you HiiiGHHH
Wow. Not sure that trade is very good for either team. The Bears coaching staff will make Cutler suck, and they lost two first round picks. Denver will suck for the next couple of years. Oh well.
Dear Leader ...
We knew we could count on our favorite crazy Korean dictator to pay a visit.
Sorry, no nuclear warheads allowed in the HABOTN.
I understand Chris Todd has asked to be traded.
Apparently, Auburn is of a mind to grant him his wish. We're in the market for someone who can shoot free throws. QB skills not necessary.
my first post is lost.
how is your first post lost? Was it deleted?
nope, I can't find it, so it's lost....like my keys were this morning.

Love TT's sensiblity. HA. Very nice way to say "I don't really want to talk to you.
If that date is legit, Frankenbummer had a pretty meteoric rise to the RoF. You are like the prodigy of HABOTN.
That wasn't my first.
it was the end of August, I think. I didn't have a blogger id, so it was just the whole fill-in-your-name thing that used to be here...but, yes. RoF was quick for me.
PF ... It's OK to admit that it was.

Michael - Scan your documents, save them as .pdf's, upload to Google docs, and share...
how ya like me now.
This made me giggle because I just picture how you would look when you are saying it.
Keep pushin', folks.
We can make it.
Look Bummer, everyone had a first time. Don't be embarrassed just because we saw yours.
no, I remember either Kathy or Kristina laughing at my name right after it...something about it being the best name ever on the HABOTN.
And you responded, "Say my name!"
I'm still trying to find the post that got me deemed Frankenbummer. It was my prediction for the future if Tubbs was fired, but I can't find it. I've been looking for days.

If you print that and fax it to me I'll autograph it and send it back.
This one made me literally LOL. I keep coming back to the HABOTN 1.)for Jay G's great reporting and insight, 2.) I don't get humor like I get from the Hotties anywhere else.
I come here so I don't have to talk to my family.
hmmm both Kathy and Kristina came onboard later than September I believe. Your story isn't adding up.
WHERE WEER YOU THE NIGHT TEH DUKE WAS MURDERED!
here is my contribution to getting this baby to 600...WAR EAGLE HOTTIES!!
Can we change his title to Master of Hisanus? The idea of him being the master or Uranus isn't very pleasant Jet.
was there another lady before Kathy? damnit. I don't remember.
Michael,
You're like the Mike Hammer, Private Eye of HABOTN.
You got a trench coat and a Fedora?

Combo nuber 11 at the mexican place I ate at in North Carolina was a burrito, taco and enchillada. It ruled.
I'm fearful for the future. Really, really fearful. Rock bottom is not losing out this season. Rock bottom is losing a HC, losing a year of recruits due to program instability, having back to back losing seasons, losing another year of recruits due to having a sucky team, then going 2-10 in 2010. I hope that doesn't happen.

well why don't we just call you peter frankenbummer?
Good thought, J-Z.
By the way, I tried to log back on to your site to add a little more cheese, and it wouldn't let me donate.
it took me a whole month before I ever got a profile when I first started posting here but I have always been wartiger...I have no idea how to find my first post..ya'll have been quite entertaining today tho..
mond wasn't here before Kathy was she PF?
I'm thinking you two oughta get married.
Apparently the Bears get Cutler and a 3rd rounder this year in exchange for Orton, this year's 1st and next year's 1st.
Who is Cutler going to throw to in Chicago? I didn't realize the Bears even played offense.
And is Orton really who Denver wanted? Awful trade all around.
OK..I just spent entirely too long looking for my first post but couldn't find it.
Peter, I wanna say phreddy gave you that name but not 100% sure. And yes I believe I laughed...
hmmm, Frankenbummer post had a typo in it. imagine that.
Desperation in Denver.
