Furlough, Pt. II: Day Three (Tuesday)

Hey everyone. It's Day Three of my latest unpaid furlough, which Gannett hopes will help offset its challenging financial situation. As a loyal employee, I blame outside problems -- chiefly predatory lenders -- as the reason behind my company's issues.

Suspension of disbelief? Perhaps.

Anyway, I am not able to blog. It's forbidden.

I have pre-loaded daily threads to pop up at 9 a.m. CDT so the conversations that make the HABOTN so delicious resume. Please don't be scared, angered or turned off my my parent company's difficulties. I'm very spendthrift.

Peace and love.

Mind-scum will always keep his nose in the wind looking for opportunities to exagerrate, aggravate and thus improve ratings.

Just like when he slams AU, he overstated the importance so take this with a grain of salt. The limos were a nice move and bothered a few Bammers, but only his neurotic callers really care that much.

Now if those callers would get a life, he would be out of business.

I've noticed that the national news has gotten on board coverage of Cinco de Mayo as a celebration for the people. That's great.....celebrate the neighboring country's independence day.

Cheap Beers or Margs at the local Mexican Bar are a good thing. Now if the press will list the bars with the best deals on alcohol..I'm all over that.

Will, I agree on Samantha Brown. By the way, I saw her husband on one of her shows. He completely out-kicked his coverage. On a semi-related topic, some of you probably know who Padma Lakshmi is (one of the "Top Chef" hosts and former Bollywood actress). She is married to Salman Rushdie, author of "The Satanic Verses". I don't get it. Maybe he has nice calves.

On the other end of the spectrum, I think Kat Von D is super hot too.

I spit out my soda since she could not see me. Why do people think office windows are mirrors?

It was really fun. The seniors and their kindergarten buddies paraded around the Quad to the cheers of the rest of the school. Only one senior didn't have his tassel on his cap -- guess who?

Then the seniors formed an arch for the kindergarteners to go through, then they released balloons. The seniors gave their parents a rose and a letter.

WTC was there, fighting off tears.

And it was muggy as New Orleans in August. Mrs. Jet and I went to Street Cafe, read the letter and cried, then ate shrimp bowls.

By the way, on a more serious note, kind of, I read an article on Trooper Taylor on Undercover the other day. After reading it, I suddenly found myself with a man crush on Chizik.

As all of you know, I thought Tuberville deserved a chance to turn things around, but that doesn't mean I don't like the Chiz.

In reading the Trooper article, I get the impression that Chizik really gets it in terms of being an Auburn man. The emphasis on family and the kids getting their education is something I love. Pat Dye didn't tend to emphasize academics and that was the one knock I had on him. Of course, Terry Bowden emphasized cheerleaders. I like where Chizik's head is at. Of course we could always drop back to cheerleaders.

You boys are treading on mighty thin ice here. Monica is going to come back soon and yell at you both.

4:33 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Man, I make a joke about Monica being a liberal and soft on crime, and Countdown with Keith Olbermann breaks out.

4:33 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Good covering move Jet. Boxhead and Steve are not safe from her ire.

4:38 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Personally,

I'd like to see Monica take an ire tool to Steve and Michael and see what happens.

4:42 PM
Blogger michael said...

Keith Olbermann is a prickwhore just like Urban Meyer, but without the winning football team.

However, I must disagree with those who share the view of my dad and Jet that if we don't stop him, Obama will be sending our kids to indoctrination camps. I have heard some compare Obama's rise to Hitler's rise in power. Simple nuts.

And since Monica abdicated the thrown, I have been Queen of HABOTN and thus fear her not.

4:43 PM
Blogger michael said...

simple nuts = simply nuts, but funnier.

4:43 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Michael,

While I'm a conservative, I don't think I've opined that my children will be going to indoctrination camps.

Who needs them anyway, when you've got the mainstream media??

4:45 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Michael,

Forget not that you are also King of Eurasia.

4:46 PM
Blogger michael said...

Hey Jet, quiz question: What is the difference between Barack Obama/Bill Clinton and George Bush/Ronald Reagan? Obama and Clinton are actually able to admit to themselves that they likes big government and thus make an attempt to pay for it.

4:47 PM
Blogger michael said...

HABOTN is one of the few places that still does not recognize Eurasia's status as a sovereign state, so it gives me no power here. I have been meaning to talk to Jay G about that.

4:48 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Since you answered the question for me, do I still get a 100?

4:48 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Michael ...

Are you a member of the Tri-Lateral Commissioner?

4:49 PM
Blogger michael said...

Yes... but the question was out of 456. So 100 is not all that good.

4:50 PM
Blogger Jet said...

I guess I'll need one of the federal government grade bailouts.

4:51 PM
Blogger michael said...

I had to look up what the trilateral commission is, and after doing so, I have decided that it sounds like an interesting group. I plan on a hostile takeover to seize control using the forces of Eurasia.

4:52 PM
Blogger michael said...

If I give you a bailout, then I must also force a bailout on gatiger, who then must abide by the restrictions that come with said bailout. So... yeah, why the heck not! Your bailout is on its way, Jet.

4:53 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Great!

Now, I'm an honors graduate.

4:56 PM
Blogger michael said...

Right Jet, but as part of the deal, all of your grandchildren will be kicked out of school after the 3rd grade.

4:57 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Then they'll be able to compete evenly with UAT grads for employment.

Seriously, what's Brett's problem?? He could have retired a legend...now he's retiring as an old miserable cuss who just wants to stick it to Green Bay. I think it's his day to be an asshat.

Big Cat ...

Is he now "The Little Ball of Eh?"

Sean ...

I think he's been an asshat since he came out of retirement.

Cat - Well now he can take care of his family and responsibilities which is good. Best of luck to him.

Favre, no idea.

Good luck to Blackmon. I never imagined when he came to Auburn that one day he would be playing in the CFL. As for Favre, I hope he signs with the Vikings and the Packers stomp him in the ground this fall.

Wow, did anyone see the piece on al.com about Anthony Mix? He was indicted by a grand jury for having sex with a 15-year old girl.
