Gulley speaks

Hey everyone. Anthony Gulley, an Auburn football signee, helped Brantley High win the 1A state championship today.

Afterward, he spoke briefly with the HABOTN about his football pursuits.

On what he's been doing since signing with Auburn in February: "It's been all about baseball and academics. I tried to spend a few months no thinking much about football and just enjoying my senior year."

On his academic situation: I'm in good shape. I got As and Bs in all my classes, so I'll be at Auburn this summer. I'm reporting on June 21."

On what he'll be doing between now and then: "Working out and running."

On what his workouts will include: "They sent me a workout schedule. It has all the things they think I need. It's stuff like Olympic lifts and power cleans. It's more about running. I'll be doing a whole lot of running."

On his expectations this fall: My expectations? To be part of a great program that's getting better. This offense needs speed. I'm pretty fast now and I'll be faster when I report. I just want to have a chance to play."

I like his attitude. He seems like a 'take care of business' type of guy. Doesn't sound selfish, sounds like he wants to be part of a team and help anyway he can. That is what AU needs. And experienced leadership on the field. ... And linemen... And linebackers.... And to find a reliable QB... And... That's all I can think of right now.

Jet, I don't see it happening, but if Meyer ever struggles at UF, the UF faithful would probably turn on him quickly. Much like Saban, he treats others as if they were beneath him. People will overlook it while the wins are coming, but a few losses in the right games would remind everyone of how he treated people around the program. I would love to see Meyer and Nikki face an angry mob of (formerly)adoring fans.
