Lane Kiffin takes another hit

So I'm watching this ESPN report on Lane Kiffin.

ESPN asked the Oakland Raiders for comment. The Raiders. A real organization.

Here is the team's response:

"Lane Kiffin is a flat-out liar. He lied to the team, he lied to the fans and he lied to the media. He will destroy that university like he tried to destroy the Raiders and will eventually clash with (Pat) Summitt and (Bruce) Pearl. Other than that, the Raiders can say nothing further."

Holy cow. I'd love to know what Kiffin did to Al Davis.

Personally, I like Phillip Marshall and Auburn Undercover, although I do find they have a gift for tpyos.

Cecil Hurt doesn't really bother me. He is just another squirrel trying to get a nut.

Steve is the Auburn Undercover worth the cost, whatever that might be? Do they get more info than the stuff on al.com, or scouts or rivals, or even here for that matter? Just askin.

12:26 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I think Auburn Undercover mostly gets the same information, although some of Phillips for your eyes only stuff isn't bad. I like it for no other reason that the place doesn't have the smell of al.com. No, it is probably not worth the money when you consider all the other sources out there, but I have never been wise with money anyway.

Mon, thanks for asking. I had to momsit this weekend. I did get her to walk up and down her hallway. She has pain, and she is scared she will fall. Her breathing is as good as it will get. I know when they were first trotting out the site as he was looking to move elsewhere, they had mentioned it was going to be a paysite. Just a thought, maybe that's why people feel he's a homer. You're not going to keep many people paying coming to your website if you feed them a whole bunch of "bad" articles about "their" team.

12:47 PM
Blogger chip chip said...

this debate is going on one of the pay site boards.

which schools are the easiest to recruit big time recruits to? (i.e. built-in advantages)

my list: Texas, LSU, USC, Florida, UCLA(and i can't understand why they don't)

whatcha think hot ones?

12:58 PM

I guess it depends upon what you call natural advantage, but Notre Dame has Rudy and the Gipper, and Rockne and such.

Michigan is the winningest football team in college football history. They do lose points because of those helmets, though.

Those USC Song Girls and the Honey Bears (or whatever they're called at UCLA)...what's not to like? At least for an 18 year old male athlete

1:05 PM

warm weather is definitely a big deal in what programs are popular and successful.

cousin humper U would be on the list if you went on winning tradition and discounted location. they at least have the weather thing in their favor. they are similar to ND in that they have other major programs around them competing for the same players in their region. ND obviously has more national pull.

1:20 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Don't forget girls.

1:20 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

Monica, considering your guidelines, Florida State would need to be on that list. They have quite the reputation for "entertaining" the recruits.

1:21 PM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Mon, what if the 18 yo boy is a homer?

1:21 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Tennessee has a good advantage having Vanderbilt to compete with in state and Kentucky and Louisville to the north. I have also heard Tennessee has the biggest recruiting budget in the nation.

Arkansas is a one team state, but they aren't exactly a hotbed of talent.

1:22 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

and the girls don't have a full set of teeth

1:25 PM
Blogger ehyou said...

Florida St should be on the list. It should be hard not to recruit there. That tells you how far behind Bowden is nowadays.

I don't think Oklahoma or UT are on the list. They do have a history of success, which brings in recruits. But on the "built-in" advantages front, what in Norman or Knoxville would entice a young man to go there?

1:27 PM
Blogger ehyou said...

Is there a bigger built-in advantage than proximity to the beach? I can't think of one.

1:30 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

esp. Venice Beach

1:31 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Hawaii. I'd have to give that serious consideration if I had no emotional attachment anywhere else. What's not to love?

1:36 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

I don't think girls are pretty high on list of priorities. If that was the case Arizona State would do much better, and bama would be behind North Dakota.

a: advertising (fame, buzz, etc)
b: influence of elders, coaches, etc
c: fit in the system and possibility of playtime and
d: location.

They can interchange, like someone not wanting to leave state etc.

1:37 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Don't forget the all important "pays best."

1:38 PM

i don't mind homers as long as they don't deny their homerism and as long as their homerism isn't extreme

If I were a highly rated recruit I would be concerned with the following things:

1) How much money I am given...
2) Guarantee's on playing time....
3) Whether a school would allow my nickname to be on my jersey....
4) Women......
