Lane Kiffin takes another hit
So I'm watching this ESPN report on Lane Kiffin.
ESPN asked the Oakland Raiders for comment. The Raiders. A real organization.
Here is the team's response:
"Lane Kiffin is a flat-out liar. He lied to the team, he lied to the fans and he lied to the media. He will destroy that university like he tried to destroy the Raiders and will eventually clash with (Pat) Summitt and (Bruce) Pearl. Other than that, the Raiders can say nothing further."
Holy cow. I'd love to know what Kiffin did to Al Davis.

Personally, I like Phillip Marshall and Auburn Undercover, although I do find they have a gift for tpyos.
Cecil Hurt doesn't really bother me. He is just another squirrel trying to get a nut.
get to it
we dont' want to scroll!!!
And yes, mispelling typos is always a favorite pastime of mine. Gee, I need to get a life.
Steve is the Auburn Undercover worth the cost, whatever that might be? Do they get more info than the stuff on al.com, or scouts or rivals, or even here for that matter? Just askin.
I think Auburn Undercover mostly gets the same information, although some of Phillips for your eyes only stuff isn't bad. I like it for no other reason that the place doesn't have the smell of al.com. No, it is probably not worth the money when you consider all the other sources out there, but I have never been wise with money anyway.
Steve - $10,000
I accept Pay Pal
chip chip - toeing the company line
chip - I decided to commit to reading the books you post. That was a big commitment for me. I'm glad I did.
Aeronaut - I enjoy your posts.
Did Josh just say Jay G. was the brainchild behind the Franklin article? ha ha ha ha
Actually, I prefer to rely on what Jay G. "The plane boss, the plane" Tate has to say better. I find his posts more objective than any other place I regularly attend.
Well, crap. I can see that if I am going to buy my friends I am gonna have to get some cheaper friends.
I'm here THT, in between meetings, reading and laughing!
ha ha Steve you asked the price of being a favorite! Non favorite friend status is free.
Kathy - How is your Mom?
Hi Kathy, are your meetings that funny?
JayGT implied he was responsible for the article.
being Monica's fav costs more than AU tickets
It does give you 'w/benefits' status though.
glad you enjoyed mon.
i like reading your posts because they are short to the point and entertaining. i hope to be able to express my thoughts that way someday.
for my money, the scout.com premium message boards have been a riot over the last few months.
and, yes, i'm done bashing cecil hurt for the day.
Mon, thanks for asking. I had to momsit this weekend. I did get her to walk up and down her hallway. She has pain, and she is scared she will fall. Her breathing is as good as it will get. I did update her on the Auburn news and told her about HABOTN. She enjoyed me reading some of the comments to her.
Of course, I'm referring to insurance and paid vacation.
I know when they were first trotting out the site as he was looking to move elsewhere, they had mentioned it was going to be a paysite. Just a thought, maybe that's why people feel he's a homer. You're not going to keep many people paying coming to your website if you feed them a whole bunch of "bad" articles about "their" team.
this debate is going on one of the pay site boards.
which schools are the easiest to recruit big time recruits to? (i.e. built-in advantages)
my list: Texas, LSU, USC, Florida, UCLA(and i can't understand why they don't)
whatcha think hot ones?
LSwho? Yes, it's the only big player in the state...but it wouldn't be on my list of top destinations.
UNC
not that I'm a homer or anything
Michigan and Notre Dame should be on that list.
Kathy has tapped into the healing powers of the HABOTN.
I know this is a tough time for you, Kathy. You and your mom remain in my thoughts.
do the football players get courtside bball seats or something?
michigan has MSU to contend with. notre dame is in South Bend. of course, LSU is in baton rouge...
and i left ohio st. off my list.
Miller - tsk tsk tsk
I am please to learn that Ziemba is now up around 315. It appears he is back to his playing weight.
I guess it depends upon what you call natural advantage, but Notre Dame has Rudy and the Gipper, and Rockne and such.
Michigan is the winningest football team in college football history. They do lose points because of those helmets, though.
Anyone had a root canal?
jhag, it ain't that pretty at all
I think USC has the biggest advantage - they've got that whole winning football games thing AND
it's so cali
girls
it's cali
Weather is one built-in advantages that Ohio St, Mich and ND do not have.
You know, I just had a short vacation, Roy
Spent it getting a root canal
"Oh, how'd you like it?"
Well, it ain't that pretty at all
So I'm going to hurl myself against the wall
'Cause I'd rather feel bad than not feel anything at all
Gonna get a good running start and throw myself at the wall as hard as I can man
Warren Zevon
Thank you Monica. Likewise. Sorry sometimes my odd work hours and intake of caffeine makes me sound like a madman. I'll never survive unless I was a little crazy.
Steve, I'm your friend. Hey we both use Linux, so .. yeah... I guess that makes us stubborn and sadomasochists.
And if my posts are not an indication of that, I don't know what is.
Monica - thank you for saying what I was thinking all along. I just didn't want to sound like the pig I am.
Those USC Song Girls and the Honey Bears (or whatever they're called at UCLA)...what's not to like? At least for an 18 year old male athlete
Would Oklahoma still be on that list?
Steve, I have a feeling we will see the Ziemba of '07(maybe better?) return this season. If not, this offense is in BIG trouble.
Its those sweaters THT ... and legs. Just sayin
I like crazy people.
warm weather is definitely a big deal in what programs are popular and successful.
cousin humper U would be on the list if you went on winning tradition and discounted location. they at least have the weather thing in their favor. they are similar to ND in that they have other major programs around them competing for the same players in their region. ND obviously has more national pull.
I wouldn't want to live in OK.
gotta go work with my girl on learning to ride her bike. ta!
Wouldn't want to live there either, Mon. Just thinking they're kinda like LSU, being fromerly the only game in the state. Now with OSU, and Tulsa, and tornadoes... ya know what nevermind, I'm taking Oklahoma off the list
Boise State?
ok, maybe not
i think if' you're highly recruited and you don't have some strong emotional attachment to a university, then all sorts of things factor into your decision
girls
location
party potential
girls
weather
girls
i've never been recruited and i've never been a 18 year old boy so i'm just guessing
i'm boycotting punctuation
Monica = Wise observer of 18 year old boys.
I mean, she has a clear understanding of the factors that would be important to many 18 year old boys.
i said i've never been one
i didn't say i've never...known one
My list in no particular order:
UTx
UCLA
USC
UNC
ND (only if talking football)
Michigan (ditto)
Monica - next time I have to take a test, I want you "guessing" for me.
Don't forget girls.
Monica, considering your guidelines, Florida State would need to be on that list. They have quite the reputation for "entertaining" the recruits.
Mon, what if the 18 yo boy is a homer?
Tennessee has a good advantage having Vanderbilt to compete with in state and Kentucky and Louisville to the north. I have also heard Tennessee has the biggest recruiting budget in the nation.
Arkansas is a one team state, but they aren't exactly a hotbed of talent.
and the girls don't have a full set of teeth
Florida St should be on the list. It should be hard not to recruit there. That tells you how far behind Bowden is nowadays.
I don't think Oklahoma or UT are on the list. They do have a history of success, which brings in recruits. But on the "built-in" advantages front, what in Norman or Knoxville would entice a young man to go there?
Is there a bigger built-in advantage than proximity to the beach? I can't think of one.
esp. Venice Beach
Hawaii. I'd have to give that serious consideration if I had no emotional attachment anywhere else. What's not to love?
I don't think girls are pretty high on list of priorities. If that was the case Arizona State would do much better, and bama would be behind North Dakota.
a: advertising (fame, buzz, etc)
b: influence of elders, coaches, etc
c: fit in the system and possibility of playtime and
d: location.
They can interchange, like someone not wanting to leave state etc.
Don't forget the all important "pays best."
i don't mind homers as long as they don't deny their homerism and as long as their homerism isn't extreme
it's all a matter of degrees don'tcha know
beach is supreme advantage in my book
If I were a highly rated recruit I would be concerned with the following things:
1) How much money I am given...
2) Guarantee's on playing time....
3) Whether a school would allow my nickname to be on my jersey....
4) Women......
Mon your punctuation boycott lasted a solid 2 min i bet i can beat it
whats the word on the lb who is supposed to commit today
Aeronaut - how old are you and do you wear a pocket protector?
Jet. That was the #0.
Can someone tell Jawara White to get to it? It's almost 1 AM here.
will my boycott is still jammin
recognize
mon is back
thought you might be slippin boo
pocket protector -LOL
I think we shod all boycott the letter ewe
Monica.
I'm 33. Pocket protector wouldn't go well in fatigues. But I'm going back to school in September (PhD) so I'll probably need one.
No I am not going to Auburn. I wish I could.
and where are you that it's 1:00 am
it's all good will
fatigues - oooo - me likey
phd - you will be a doc of what?
Dr. Aeronaut
http://www.worldtimezone.com/
ewe are so helpfhl tht
not really, i jst like maps
PMarsh oughta be an Auburn homer. We need as many as we can get. Hell, who needs enemies when ya got Josh Moon doing an article on an admitted dumbass OC who is now located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 9 months after the guy was canned?
Ah, popcorn.
The general area is Mechanical Engineering. My Intention is to work on bio-nano-electro-mechanical systems (called BioNEMS or 'lab on chip' etc).
It sounds much harder than it actually is.
Ahh, Bach...
(obscure reference)
It worked for Radar, didn't it, Norm?
Few things are hotter than some "lab on chip" action.
Dr Aeronaut - you need to come home from there ASAP
Man I've seen some OT stuff on here but Pocket Protectors?
Indeed it did Jet. I knew I could count on you.
i love smart guys
hahahaha @ "ah, bach"
Currently I am 100 miles from Pak-Afghan border, on the Pakistan side.
That's all I can say about that.
From what I understand, Chip's pretty upset. The lab never called again.
Im rockin my HABOTN gear in the ATL airport today on my way to NC
Still no punctuation
Root canals are overrated.
I've had two. Neither were worrisome.
AERO - that tidbit brings about a whole new set of assumptions for me which are quite different from those I referenced last week. With that said, I'll offer even more thanks to you.
Aero ... I think you're in uncharted area in terms of HABOTN reach. Be careful.
Vasectomies, however, are not. I've had two of them.
i used tht's map and had the general location - it's time for you to come home, Arrownut
do you want me to write you a note? cuz i so will and it will so work
i knows peoples
I'm now working on a new Coaches Spotlight story.
Trooper Taylor, Thig or Grimes?
(flipping coin)
Aeronat - ewe realize that Michael may declare labs on a chip are fake?
study something real for crying ot lod
You can't make the blog if you jog!
RUN TROOPER!
Grimes Grimes Grimes
i say grimes thig then troop in that order
Thigpen wins.
Thigpen took 2-of-3 against Grimes in the flipoff.
Look for that around 3 p.m. CDT.
Homer.
hee hee you said flipoff
Thigpen an excellent choice! A Carolina grad who married a wonderfl lady. Smart dood!
speaking of ladies, JayGT...why dont ewe profile the ass't coaches better halves d'ring the dry months of smmer
Ok...they wouldn't let me on stage today...WTH?
Anyway, New iPhones on sale 6/19.
32GB 3GS- $299
16GB 3GS- $199
8GB 3G- $99 (this is actually on sale today)
3.0 software update for existing iPhone customers 6/17
When is the HOTTIE bracket?
if iphone joins up with Verizon's 4G network next year i'll try it then
I like the idea on the coaches' wives.
Start with Lane Kiffin's and Mike Shula's.
Well my PhD dissertation will be 'selection of best chips for the lab'. I'll try doritos, lays, and pringles.
Mon. Thanks for the offer. That was sweet.
Jet. Thanks for the laughs.
FSJ.
Do they come with that 2 year contractual slavery or something like that?
Aero, you should see the prices if you get it without the contract...
Monica - I'm waiting for the same Waiting til (at least) 2011 I bet
Sadly Aeronaut they will come with a contract.
THT I would anticipate that it will be at least mid 2010 and maybe longer before it hits Verizon.
THT - just noticing earlier, you said "study"
THT - Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg hinted that Verizon might offer it next year - who knows
Aeronaut - I am a very sweet girl. Everyone here - EVERYONE - will testify to my sweetitude
Verizon CEO Eyes Global Assets
absolutely Mon, you're the sweet one, that's right Aeronaut, you think sweet you think Mon.
Mrtommyd - oops
Mon/FSJ - I'll believe it when it happens.
I wish Verizon signal hadn't dropped off the face of the earth where i live. it's now as bad as att
sweetitoode - great word! and yes, I'll vowch
THT - You are AUsome and Zevonic! I get ALL your WZ references without the need for follow up explanation.
Norm - "Ahh Bach". Most awesome MASH episode and most clever obscure reference for the day!
Jay G - Where do I pick up a three sided coin?
Verizon works in atlanta in some places it shouldn't. For example, at my gym, which is underground and underneath a huge steel building and concrete...I get service.
THT ...
I am a fan of Auburn. What collegiate team do you pull for?
jet, I was saving this for #1 post on new thread; no can do now since work jst went bonkers, so....
of coarse, the letter ewe boycott does not apply to AUBURN!!! WARRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ttyl, HOTTIES
ah, Bach will be tough to beat for Best Obscure Reference
THT you plan your posts in advance - you are most impressive
Thig! I called it! What do I win?
Root canals - not bad at all. I actually thought it was cool when they pull the root out, it feels like they are pulling a zip tie out of your head. Really cool.
