Auburn lands another commitment
DL Kenneth Carter of Greenville High has made a verbal commitment to play tackle football at Auburn beginning in 2010.
We know this because our friends at AuburnSports.com, AuburnUndercover.com and ITAT say so.
Carter stands 6-foot-5 and weighs approximately 270 pounds. He was a late bloomer in a sense -- ie wasn't a game-changing element until 2008 -- and only recently began receiving offers from big schools. We know Ole Miss, Kentucky and Southern Miss are highly interested.
ITAT believes Alabama and Clemson, among others, have offered scholarships.
Both Scout.com and Rivals.com rate Carter as a three-star prospect (out of five).
Here's a look at Auburn's array of commitments:
OL Shon Coleman, Olive Branch, Miss.
LB Jake Holland, Pelham HS
ATH Shaun Kitchens, Atlanta, Ga.
K Cody Parkey, Jupiter, Fla.
WR Jeremy Richardson, Springville HS
LB Jawara White, Troy
LB Jessel Curry, Buford, Ga.
CB Jonathan Mincy, Decatur, Ga.
DE Joel Bonomolo, Fullerton, Calif. (juco)
S Demetruce McNeal, College Park, Ga.
DB D.J. Howard, Lincoln HS
WR Antonio Goodwin, Atlanta, Ga.
OL Chad Slade, Moody HS

Boy that took too long
F'bum is a fan of money. He does like to sniff the shorts of any cocah that he thinks is good or great. Thus his lean toward Al for now.
this is my first new page in a while.
Back in the day when I was a student at Auburn I did some contract work for Baileys / Flying Saucer / Fox and Hound (They are all owned by the same company).
I had to visit their branches in SouthWest.. Montgomery, Atlanta, Columbia, Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston Salem, Johnson City, Nashville etc once a month. Fun times.
The hardest part usually was telling the cab driver what hotel to take me to. The goddesses were always very friendly. They would tell me what city I was in. Weekends over that time are a little ... hazy.
Digger - I MAY be coming back to Alabama in September to go to a game with my sister. If so, I'll be by myself, but if you're not afraid to be alone with me I'll make another beer run. We can meet in a public place if that will make you feel safer.
Anybody see/hear where Chris Vernon and Clay Travis trashed F-bum's callers for being so dumb? One of them actually challenged any 5 of them to a spelling bee. Apparently, the callers spent all day yesterday being irate at being called dumb, but ended just validating the insult. Vernon came on B'ham's version of The Roundtable today and said that Charles from Reeltown was the only caller who had any sense. He's the one who regularly threatens to give F-bum a "country-boy ass-whuppin'". Vernon was pretty hilarious talking about the whole thing.
That Roundtable out of B'ham is the most hypocritical, juvenile group on the radio today.
Aero, sounds like you didn't suffer too much with that job! I've been to all three of those. I like Flying Saucer the best, by far.
Had to take a cab back to the hotel from Flying Saucer last week, truth be told.
Nugget ...
Unless they have a direct tie to a school, most reporters and columnists aren't fans. They're not supposed to be -- ties or not. They are easily jaded by time and experience. They've heard too many coaches' lies and doubletalk, seen too many kids that probably shouldn't have gotten in school, seen too many agendas. But they've see good kids, too, and run across coaches that do the right things and people that truly act in the best interest of their schools.
Then, there's fans, who spew venom and have unreal expectations. Like me. But I know who I am, who they are, and that I don't like them.

^^ That was me. Deleted an unnecessary rant.
WDE.
Monica, I completely agree, but if cruising around B'ham between 10-2, it's them or Jim Rome on the sports front. I flick between both or listen to the Ipod. At least the Roundtable guys have guests that are relevant to SE football.
Mon let me know when you head this way. DOM's arent skeered of any thing.
I haven't listened to F'bomb in a while so I don't know what he is harping on now. But it didn't take long for me to turn him off even when I was listening. Too self centered and catering to the dolla.
i don't listen to him, since he is not on satalite radio, but i find links to his columns different places....its like i can't help myself. i like to let myself get tick off about him.
This comment has been removed by the author.
By the way, Chris Vernon and Clay Travis are not the hosts of The Roundtable here. Chris Vernon hosts a show in Memphis and Clay Travis is a writer based in Nashville. I just thought it was funny that two guys from outside the state both found F-bum's callers to be so stupid. I confess to listening to F-bum for a few minutes yesterday to hear his callers defend themselves. I was laughing out loud! They couldn't form complete sentences, much less make them grammatically correct.
I said the Roundtable out of B'ham and I think that show is actuallly called The Opening Drive. The one with Jay Barker on it. YUCK.
I know y'all are happy I cleared that up!
Aero - no rant is unnecessary.
Dig - I will absolutely let you know next time I pass near the lovely banks of the Coosa.
i thought a bunch of the callers were staged....is that not the case.
Monica, if you think The Opening Drive is hypocritical and juvenile, then I can't wait to hear what you actually think about The Roundtable in question. It is much worse. At least The Opening Drive has Al Del Greco. I still contend that the best show in B'ham is D&B. Of course, that's not saying much, I guess.
dave and busters?
Douche and Bag?
AUNugget, I don't think you could stage that level of stupidity. In fact, every time I've ever listened to that show, I've been stunned at how dumb most of the callers are. They are about 95% Bammers, but there are a few AU fans calling in who don't sound much smarter.
yeah, i thought that was kind of the deal though, you get opposing fans to call in and act like a fan of the other team and sound like a complete moron so that it makes the entire fans base look stupid by association.
man, i thought i had that whole show figured out. guess people from my home state are as dumb as the the news says they are.
I only hear any of these shows if they stream online. If the Roundtable is available online I will give them a listen.
I'm pretty sure some of the callers are staged.
I guess I have it pretty good here in Atl for sports talk. 680 The Fan has a good line up (though I don't particularly like their morning team). 790 the Zone mid day (11 to 12) is palatable. I've listened to the Montgomery station when I know JGT will be on - Good with JGT - pretty bad without.
LT
If they can sound that stupid and never break character, then they are actually geniuses. Yesterday a guy called in and said he luffed all the callers and they was a big fambly and could Paul set up a big picnic so he could meet all the peoples? Then he wanted to know if Paul thought that they was talkin about him when they said Paul's callers was dumb. This guy did not indicate affiliation with any school. That said, I do think there are some staged calls here and there, but you can usually tell. I would have to listen more to really figure it out and I just can't handle that.
Monica, The Roundtable and D&B both stream.
i have heard charles from r-town call in and try and get f-baum to greet him, say like "how are you" or "good day" and f-baum won't do it. pretty funny...if you like to listen to pre-k kids get into a spat.
im really sorry i brought up this subject....we have been on it now for a while. i blame myself. please forgive.
As my 7 year old and I are getting on the elevator to go the the beach, "Mr. Houndstooth" gets on with us.
She looks at him for a few seconds.
Daddy?
Yes dear.
Why would someone in Florida like stupid old lame Alabama?
I don't know sweetie...I don't know.
(he actually took it pretty well)
from the previous page, if you like scotch, you should try lagavulin. my favorite. it's peaty and salty and smokey (and pricey)
Wow - Brando on Fbaum probably just caused some bammers to wreck.
what did he say?
Rasslin's fake?
Dale Jr. sucks?
McElroy's unproven?
Saban's leavin'?
i guess we'll never know
Peeps: I'm loaded with a stockpile of extraneous busywork right now. I cannot get here and do my thing. I have high-school stories to do this week, incredibly massive SEC fact boxes to build.
It sucks. What can I say?
That bama isn't really considered in the top 3 NCAA programs in the country and haven't been for years. This was based on conversations with some other national sports talking heads whose names I didn't catch.
He says they have to earn their way back to that. He said that the people in Alabama just don't seem to realize that they aren't one of the teams whose name pops up as one of "the big ones".
You mean the high school kids these days don't worship the Bare? For shame.
Snort.
I need Depends.
These are the jewels you miss when you don't listen to Fbaum.
:-D
Usually i dislike Brando, but that has to be the smartest thing he has ever said
Monica ...
I love it when you listen for us ... you can share the rare moments of humor and lucidity without me dealing with the aggravation.
A true win-win.
reuniting yesterdays thread with today"s: if uat doesn't win an sec championship and or nat'l championship, they will have gone a decade without doing so. when was the last time that happened (using legitimate championships, of course)?
I'm here for you, Jet.
Oh and he said Ole Miss has a better team this year than Bama. He said "SEC media types" missed it HUGE last year and they are missing it this year.
Brando's face is missing it!
Don't look now......... but you guessed it......... PUPPET HOUR!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Just saw Ed Orgeron in the Charleston airport... He looks smaller in real life...
I looked...think they noticed
No I don't think they noticed. If they did, they are really playing it cool. I admire that about them.
Did Ed Orgeron rip his shirt off at the check-in?
When you said "they", you were talking about the New Kids on the Block, right?
I heard coach O did a rain dance, attacked a mammoth, and clubbed and dragged a new wife onto the plane while at the airport.
Well. just the one that looks like a monkey from NKOTB. He's scary
Ah, Danny. I don't respect him at all.
I'm so hungry I ate the substance.
have I missed any earth shattering news today?
Sometimes substance gives me heartburn.
Just read Danny's wikipedia article. It states:
"After New Kids on the Block disbanded in 1994, Wood decided to pursue a solo career. He released his first solo album on 22 July 2003"
Way to strike while the iron is hot there, Danny. He still beat Chinese Democracy's release date, so that is something I guess.
tht- we dislike Danny from NKOTB
Rolaids neutralizes 37 times more substance than any other antisubtantial product.
Danny is a tool and a puppet sympathizer.
yeah. that new "guns n roses" c.d. has been coming out for like the last 10 years
NKOTB are way past my time. I hate em all.
he is probably the official puppet musician. he probably plays at all the puppet bars
You know Chinese Democracy finally came out last year. Haven't heard it yet. I don't know if it made much of a dent on the charts. I am certain it outsold Danny's release, though.
Should we have checked with Jay G and made sure Danny from NKOTB wasn't a Hottie first before we started bashing him? I have been a little nervous since it was revealed Jay's mom checks out comments. What if the New Kids do too?
yeah I heard it. it stunk. I loved GnR and this was just awful. Not the same without slash
maybe he's salsa shark
Brett Favre staying retired... for now...
Does it not bother anybody else that DL was int he Charlotte airport? Why was he not in Pyongyang?
Salsa Shark is Danny Wood?!! Wow, so much makes sense now. I feel like when the warden threw that stuff through the poster in Shawshank redemption and when Chaz Palmentari dropped his mug in The Usual Suspects and when Luke was told Vader was his father all wrapped up in one!
Also... don't know if it's been mentioned... Congrats to Sen'derrick Marks and Jarraud Powers for signing their rookie contracts... both 4 year deals.
What's up with package deal recruitment?
Armand William + Alex Hill.
Dyer + Mosley
Seastrunk + Reed.
Michael ...
And you forgot to include "Finkel is Einhorn ... Einhorn is Finkel" from "Ace Venture: Pet Detective."
Mike Vick to the Vikings now?
put a ribbon and bow on Dyer/Mosley and another one on Seastrunk/Reed and those would be two nice packages. I haven't heard much yet about the other pair.
I'll be more worried about Orgeron being in Charlotte.
'grats to Marks and Powers.
simeon castille was released by bengals. The younger castille is looking at Auburn.
does anybody know what my buddy kenny irons is doing now?
only because bama hasn't offered. I don't think AU has offered yet, either. Is that right?
I don't know much about the Armand Williams kid... but, Alex Hill is a sizeable OL prospect (6'5" 300+ or so).
I like packages... especially the ones that include a stud RB and OL prospect and the ones that include a stud RB and stud WR.
Alex Hill is the 2nd highest ranked Center that Auburn has a chance with. 3*, #14
The highest ranked Center that Auburn should target is Brandon Linder (4*, #3) from a school that was Auburn's pipeline. St. Thomas Aquinas.
There are two St. Thomas Aquinas standouts that I was hoping we will get. But Auburn is not in the lead for either of them. Maybe the pipeline resigned with xCTT.
I don't think either team has offered the younger Castille as of now...
It's all about the Roosevelts baybay!!
Paper is out, silver is the new green.
the CTT pipeline probably has been rerouted to Knoxville.
However, we had some great south FL players long before CTT. No reason we can't get build a bigger pipe.
Kenny Irons is still active on facebook, Harrison.
K.I. may be worth getting a facebook account for. does he twitter?
not in public
D.Miller -I'm tired, what on earth r u talking bout?
No sign of Twitter on his fb account. His current status is:
"Kizzle headed to gym get my strong man on the knee feeling great I'll be back in no time running hard like old times,"
He has a way with words doesn't he
Yes. All the key words are in there somewhere so that you are pretty sure you know what he means.
David Irons is on twitter... but no sign of Kenny on there
Was reading mindbombs normal Tuesday article. he is ranting b/c some Fla reporter claimed that Bama fans are skeered of Meyer. In his rant, he inadvertently affirmed Bammer stoopidity when he said the following:
"Alabama fans aren't afraid of anyone. If the New England Patriots were suddenly added to the schedule this fall in the opener in place of Virginia Tech, Tide fans would be talking trash about Belichick and Brady."
I believe they indeed would be sttopid enough to talk trash to Belichick and Brady.
time for me to skeedaddle home. Yippee!!!
Don't worry, Jet, I'll be hatin all the way
I hope K Irons is able to return to the NFL. That game he had against LSU in 05 was one of the best performances by an AU RB against top competition in years. Too bad it is remembered for FG misses .
I want to push it over the edge.
Push it.
Push it real good.
Obama has made it... he's now a Chia pet...
No, seriously... www.chiaobama.com
How ridiculous.
How are you liking living in the Ham?
Just read an article about AU commitment Cody Parkey and his performance at a kicking camp. He literally looks like he is 11 years old, but his kicking stats were phenomenal.
Have y'all seen this about the Auburn student missing in Asia?
Missing AU Student
yep, cincy, THTjr just told us about it. I don't do Thailand.
Mon,
was that KI game against lsu the one where he said on camera the he was going to dance on espn highlights for 200 yards?
Monica, I thought you were moving to B'ham this summer?
Nugget - Here's the clip with Kenny
AU LSU 2005
i don't think i could live in the ham again. tried it once...didn't like it. i'd rather drive in phoenix--and i hate phoenix.
So did I, Kathy.
When the economy went in the toilet Greg decided to push back his retirement date by 6 months. He retires 12/31/09. So, we will be moving some point after that.
We plan and God laughs.
That has been my motto for years!
Watching Texas-Texas Tech ... Longhorns have ball at own 2 ... Why in the devil would you run 5 yards backwards into the end zone to hand the ball off?
It was the same day that Auburn played Ole Miss, did Nall and Ensminger fly out to Lubbock to help Mack Brown and Greg Davis with that play call? It looked liked Auburn 2003.
Mon,
We are loving it where we are. We far enough out of B'ham proper (if you call B'ham proper??) to live in a nice peaceful and quiet neighborhood. But, we're close enough to good food and shopping (for the wifey).
We really like it so far. The traffic heading into the ham we don't like... but we didn't like the traffic on the bypass in the gump either. I've lived in Macon and traveled through ATL enough to not let a little 'ham traffic get to me.
Awesome, D! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. My sister loves it and I'm looking forward to it too.
Y'all just jealous 'cause you don't live in da Gump!
How's your sister's new little whipper snapper doing?
D Miller,
In what part of B'ham are you? Or out from B'ham.
Jet,
Been there, done that, have the t-shirt that reads "I survived the Gump."
survival is definitely the right term...
Cincy,
We are in the Helena/Alabaster area.
(Maylene, if you want to get technical about the zip code)...
D - The new baby girl is MOST excellent. She's such a good baby, but I miss them both!
Thanks for asking!
We're out the other way, out from Chelsea. Westover if you want to get technical about the zip code. I feel the same way - peaceful, but close enough to get to anything I need in just a few minutes. And it is 1 1/2 hours from my door to Auburn!
40 minutes to AU from East Vaughngumpery!
OMNI - kindly provide me with a synopsis of the previous 500+ posts.
Synopsis: Monica is always right.
I'm bored.
Me, too.
I wish it was a week from tomorrow and we were leaving for the beach.
But I do get to pick up my new car tomorrow, so that is exciting.
Monica,
Do you think we should start some juicy gossip?
Please entertain Monica, Norm.
40 minutes from my door to AU!
...oops, I meant 480 minutes :-(
and that's driving pretty fast.
I hate airlines. They show you a great flight schedule going and a crappy one coming back, or vice versa, but will not give you the option of choosing the great itineraries going and coming.
cincy - you throw me a lead and I'll run with it!
ok people when i get bored i get restless and when i get restless i usually end up getting in trouble!
I'm terrible under pressure. I can't think of a single piece of juicy gossip!
HAHAHA Performance anxiety, Cincy??
Back from AU. I cannot believe how much stuff my daughter has accumulated living under my roof. I can't believe I paid for all that stuff.
she is very excited about her place. Now we start working on getting this house ready for sale sometime next year.
congrats wtc!
Recruiting info:
Not sure we offer the Williams kid. the center on his team was a bonus visit for AU. Williams gets an offer if we miss on others on the board and he knows it.
Still hear we get Seastrunk, Reed, Dyer, Ahmad Dixon, Hurd.
THT-Only 40 minute drive but 7 hours of hanging pictures and putting up curtain rods and setting TV's up.
Was it sad, WTC?
Too busy to be sad today, but tonight is very quiet, which is unusual and could get sad before bedtime.
I'll believe Dixon on signing day, and not a moment before. He is committed to Baylor and before that was committed to Texas. He also camped at LSU last week. Can't blame him for being a bit confused; he's still a kid. I hope he becomes an Auburn man.
WTC ...
Can't imagine what it will be like when Stewardess leaves. I'll miss ElTurbo ... but then again, I won't.
Jet-It will tear you up inside. When your little girl goes off, it just ain't the same around the house. And it is only the first day.
I missed Kathryn terribly when she left for Auburn. She and I did so much together.
But, I worried much more when Tyler left for Auburn. Tyler and I are so much alike and that is what worried me - I knew what he could get into!
bored > depressed
Monica,
You need to hurry and move back to Alabama.
Just read where Alabama filed an appeal with the NCAA.
wtc, I hope your sources are correct on the recruiting front. That is one hell of a list, especially from a staff that has been together for such a short period of time.
They had to, Cincy
cincy, cincy, cincy...
don't I know it
I'm doing my very best to get there FAST.
My daughter is very much like me. College life for me was not that exciting, but that may be due to being occupied by sports. Practice and stuff keeps you occupied most of the time and you miss out on some social life. She wants to be a cheerleader at AU but can't tryout until sophomore year. (AU rule) I will be giving her whatever she needs to make that happen.
WTC ...
I'm hearing the same things ... I hope you are right.
wtc... I had almost forgotten about Hurd...
Who's the name for Thursday?
This comment has been removed by the author.
Depressed-We get them and you must agree to change your name. You CANNOT be depressed if we get those guys.
I DVR'd Breaking the Huddle. I may watch it. Greg has a cold so he's just worthless for entertainment.
The RB from AKY is what i hear.
Jet,
Why did they have to?
The extension of the repeat offender window is problematic for a program that lives on the edge.
Monica,
I hope you can get back here faster than I did. Took me almost three years from the time I decided I wanted to move back until it happened.
Cincy - I've had a countdown clock on the desktop of my computer for the last 9 years. Nuff said.
Oh, so it was the extension that bothered them more than the vacating of wins?
Braves lose on a two run walk off pinch hit homer. Tough loss.
Wait has bama filed a NEW appeal? Their first appeal was appealing the vacated wins and not the length of the probation.
Oooooh, Monica, that is a long time to wait for something. You have had great patience. Hopefully it happens this December.
Cincy ... they're talking about the vacating of the wins, but that's as insignificant as it gets.
They're appealing their appeal.
Mon-they are not appealing the extension, they are only appealing the vacated wins. Here is the link:
http://blog.al.com/live/2009/07/university_of_alabama_bases_ap.html
(Sorry I still do not recall how you guys link this stuff)
That's very unappealing.
Makes no sense. None.
If you've never seen Breaking the Huddle: Integration you so should. It's a fantastic HBO Sports production. "The Civil Rights movement of the 1960's affects the racial status quo of college athletics."
WTC - That's what I said in the post above yours, but thanks for the link just the same.
wtc, a name change has to be in the works. Too much excitement and enthusiasm not to be feeling better about the football program. I only hope Chizik is given a chance to replenish the ranks before the 5-19 talk begins. He deserves a chance to show what he can do with a more balanced(and talented) roster. As did Coach Tuberville when he arrived at Auburn.
I've said before, if I was at the airport, I wold have screamed at JJ when he got off the plane. Chizik was not even on my radar. I like what he has done so far. He hired the man I wanted Tubbs to hire for OC. The others are very good recruiters. Let's not fool ourselves, AU has to work harder to get up to where we need to be. I strongly feel this group can do it.
Gameday management is key. I think the players will come when the team shows chemistry and looks like it is moving in the right direction. you can't speed up time and time is what we need.
All good points you make, wtc. Chizik wasn't on my hopeful list, either, but he seems to be a hard worker and I think he is doing everything he can to build the program in the right way. I see Auburn struggling some this season when the Tigers' top reserves are playing against LSU and Alabamas' top reserves. I'm afraid this will be where the recruiting and attrition problems from the past few seasons will really show. But, that doesn't mean AU can't win those games, I just think that a few breaks will have to go Auburns' way(TO's, penalties against the other team, etc)to even things out.
What more could we ask for at this point?
More commitments? We're still in the game with our prime targets.
WTC is right ... now we need some positive results from coaching.
It took me awhile to read the earlier posts, but you guys nailed it on the recruiting stuff. If the coach thinks the guy fills the need, then great. Go get him and don't look back. Each coach must believe they can make these guys into winners and then go out and prove it.
It makes for great headlines to get commits now, but the kid still has to perform and get into school.
I still think it is funny that the kid from Millbrook, who might very well be a great HS player, is the #1 rated CB on Rivals and he came out and admitted on the local morning show he hasn't played CB since the 9th grade. I am not knocking UAT for getting him, but fans using Rivals to justify him as the 'top CB' is ridiculous.
Recruiting services ... full of it.
not the HABOTN Recruiting Service. Or at least it won't be once someone gets it up and running.
THT ...
We couldn't do it any better. That's the point.
When I heard that kid from Millbrook say that I died laughing. That pretty much told me everything I need to know about "stars".
Jet we should cancel our subscriptions in protest!
When I was coming out of HS I got 3 stars, one for Attendance, one for Conduct, One for Effort.
Recruiting services are like Cliff's Notes ... they're just opinions, not to be confused with a true representation.
well, if we can't do it better, we can at least slant it in Auburn's favor ;-)
I'm going to get me a DC and then crawl in bed. My laptop battery is nearing death. Y'all take it on to 600 so I can start near the top in the morning!
WDEKHA
When I came out of high school, the school burned all my records and disavowed any knowledge of me.
Stick with "full of it"
I had 5 stars, but not until college.
I can believe you were and are still a 5* Mon.
Jet....I agree. We are in as good of shape as should resonably be expected, with a chance to do very well in recruiting if these guys can coach. CGC and Co have done a great job unifying the AU fans with old fashioned values/work ethic and some erratic splash.
I've read that the off season conditioning was turned up several notches. That will help with lack of depth.
We soon get to find out how well these coaches are at teaching schemes, putting the right players in position and game day coaching.
I seems to me that we have more talent than folks are giving us credit...we are just missing depth. Let's see what happens in games if these coaches can get the offense to produce even a little and give the defense a break.
depressed....even though your name is so familiar...I keep getting visions of Eyore. It's time to change the name. Tubs is gone now and the whining should go with it.
As a high school senior, I was rated as a four "dog poop."
You know, we're getting kinda close.
You know, we're getting kinda close.
I SAID ... we're getting kinda close!
Hoopie-I concur with your assessment of the whining by AU fans should have left with Tubbs. I always hated being the underdog. That meant we were supposed to lose and we were looking to upset the other team. I want a target on our back and then go out and mash some teams into submission.
How close are we getting?
I can feel it comin' in the air tonight.
I smell it again
