Days to kickoff: 8
Our Tar Heel Tiger's Auburn Minute is brought to you by the number:
8
HAPPY CALVIN JACKSON DAY!!!
Calvin Jackson, a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., was a standout cornerback for Auburn 1992 and 1993. He was named All-SEC during his final season.
No Hottie will ever forget his 96-yard, momentum-changing interception return against the Gators in 1993. What would have been a 17-0 deficit became a much more manageable 10-7 deficit and lit the fire the Tigers needed to torch the Gators 38-35.
That game was serious excitement. So what did the PICK SIX look like from my seat? I have no idea. Disgusted at the thought of the Gators scoring yet again, I went to get THTJr the hot dog he had requested much earlier. The deafening roar that arose left little doubt what had happened.
When I returned with the dogs & drinks, my next major decision: Do I sit and watch the game or do I go back to the concourse so Auburn can score again? Thankfully, my position had no bearing on the outcome and I was able to watch one of the most thrilling victories ever at Jordan-Hare.
Mr. Jackson's return is the second-longest in school history. The longest was in Digger's and IV's childhood days when John Liptak had a 98-yard INT return against Georgia.
HONORABLE MENTION:
* Cooper Wallace: Nashville, Tenn.; TE 2002-05.
* Shayne Wasden: Selma, Ala.; WR 1988-90; ACADEMIC ALL-SEC in 1990.
* Stanford Simmons: Ashland, Ala.; FS 1999-01.
* Jerry Beasley: Montgomery, Ala.; CB 1977-80; yes, Terry's brother.
* Chris Knapp: Americus, Ga.; PK 1985-87; leading scorer in 1986; ranks 6th in career PAT pct (62/63).
* Jerraud "Jerrard" Powers: Decatur, Ala., CB 2005-08. Very good player.

AuFootball and a brand new page Luv!!
yup, that new page smell.
Kathy,
Regarding the new tags, did they say you have to keep the same thing on your tag or can you change it for the $2.75. I just got mine about 10 days ago. Didn't know if we could change since we now get 6 letters. Or if you had to pay another $50.
I knew what smell to which he was referring. I was just helping us get there.
what does new page smell like anyway. i say cat litter
Did CDV my freshman year, not sure how I got in there since it was fairly new
It smells like victory Harrison
This new page smells like gasoline. Some smell differently, though
I think it smells like chocolate. I am craving chocolate.
If I got an Auburn license plate, I don't what it would say. How about...
lvau68
"Give me fuel, Give me fire, Give me that which I desire!"
My first 5 months of marriage were spent in the CDV. However, our nice cozy apartment on Beech has since been torn down.
who knows anything about generators for tailgates?
I know Luv, it took me so long to decide on the last one and now I have another letter to factor in.
How about CNCTGR. I don't think most people would get it though.
Anyone here have the "pleasure" of living in Mag Dorm?
I don't really want one, though, 'cause I'm cheap. In PA, we only had to pay the extra money the first time, not every year.
I'm cheap, too, but I just look at it as a charitable contribution.
We have one, Harrison, to power our tv and Directv.
myTD,
Didn't live there, but did visit several times.
But does that $50 go to Auburn?
Harrison, just have an uncle get on an exercise bike, connect jumper cables between the exercise bike and whatever electronics you are using, and BOOM! Electricity!
I also have instructions on making a satellite dish out of a salad bowl, a broom stick, and spoiled milk. By my book "Tailgating Made Easy" to read all about it.
I want to add TV to our tailgates this year, but may have to wait until next year. Then my son will have graduated from Auburn and my son-in-law from Vandy law school. Then they can buy it for us!
I miss Jim Fyffe.
LUV had DirecTV @ her tailgate. How cool is she???
Thanks for the love on my comment,Cincy. ;-)
Yes, Luv, something like $47 to $48 goes to Auburn for scholarships.
is 1500 watts enough to run satellite and tv?
Good thinking, Cincy!
michael, my uncles is busy on saturday's. besides your book is written in jibberish
jhag.... what i said last night was most definitely said in a joking/smarta$$ manner. It was in response to you saying that you couldn't find it... I know your stature around here.
Smarta$$ sarcasm doesn't always come across well when typed out. I forget that occasionally.
It should be, Harrison. I think ours is 1000 and we didn't have any problems last year.
Michael I went by your book. It didn't tell me anything
My first night in Auburn was E-Day, and ended up at my friends room in Mag. It was great!! Just to let you know though, lots of beer, cheap pizza, and Krystals chili at 3 am does not combine well. As a matter of facts they work to uncombine.
i thought it would be luv. thanks
Yeah, the book really won't help any of you. It is actually written for my subordinates working in North Dakota on a ponzi scheme I came up with to help offset the deposit I had to make for my business in a Columbian bank. Don't ask me about my business.
Harrison, go to:
wisesales.com
If you're purchasing it online. They have good prices and fast shipping.
So Michael what's your .... oh that was close.

luv- some dude is letting us borrow one, and if it works well enough we are just going to buy it from him for pretty cheap. Then I'm sure it will explode
with your luck, right? Sounds like my kinda luck.
D.Miller, i am in the pick 'ems. no shame in my game.
I lived in the old CDV my first semester. The beds were as old as the buildings. They were very noisy, which always made me laugh.
I felt safe from nuclear attack, though.
Thought yall might like to read this, Bo being classy as ever.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4427117
I love Bo Jackson so much, it hurts
Alright, Hotties, I'm outta here. Have a great weekend and War Eagle!
War Eagle Luv!!!
yes, Scottie B... thanks for joining up
Chris Low interviews Chris Todd.
One minute to puppet hour.
ehyou.... did the FAQ listed above answer your ATS question from earlier?
CIncy, regarding the car tags, I've asked the question but haven't heard back yet. Since they are adding characters, I hope it's only 2.75 to change it.
PUPPET HOUR!!! AAAHHHH!!!!
DMiller...
Yes and thanks.
So what is happening out there? Where is the location of the HABOTN tailgate going to be this year? Whenever I look for a new tailgate spot, I make sure it can easily be defended against attacks from puppets.
Also, what percentage of tailgating actually takes place on a tailgate? I would say it is pretty rare.
there is not enough baby powder or gold bond to make commando work in the humidity of south Florida right now.
There are all kinds of explosives at our tailgate to fend off puppet attacks
PF, strategically placed holes in your pants in tandem with gold bond would do the trick. just make sure the cops can't see you, I am pretty sure it is illegal to have those holes in your pants without underwears.
Harrison - we have always used chocolate to ward the puppets off. Now that I hear they aren't actually allergic to it, I am kind of freaked out.

If dancing to Cher's "Believe" on a Friday is wrong, then I don't want to be right.
We will be in the Hay Fields again. AU has really become fan friendly for RV tailgating (NOT!!). Always have a cold adult or child beverage and plenty of food .. Y'all come by!
Tony Barnhart wrote about a kid from our town that may be the next star RB at UGA. This kid was bigger, better and just as fast(5 Star) as RonnieB in HS. Also a straight A student. Mark Richt sold his mother on UGA and not AU or even Notre Dame stood a chance. They are catholic.
http://blogs.ajc.com/barnhart-college-football/2009/08/28/will-ugas-samuel-become-a-star/
Good to see you posting, 365.
War Eagle
he'll change his mind when he finds out Mark Richt is a Scientologist
Harrison, Scientology and Catholicism are not contradictory. Look at Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.
Read about it all in my book, "Why Scientology And Other Religions That Have a Completely Contradictory Set Of Beliefs Aren't Contradictory"
i heard about that book. a real groundbreaker that book.
Yeah, I won a grammy for it. It is probably near the pinnacle of my religious studies writings.
Even though that kid ain't at AU, he is a great kid and everyone is pulling for him...even local Bammers.....yeah..I know...that's waaaaay out of charactern for a Bammer.
Do scientologists tithe?...and to whom?.....uncle Ron or his heirs?
Time to get ready and head for the local HS game tonight.
Thanks Mon, I am still a daily (multiple) visitor ... just takes me so long to type it out I normally just lurk and laugh
Me too 365. I laugh a lot more than I type!
These folks take "wit" to a whole other level! I couldn't hold a candle to most of them.
You're right Kathy ... by the time I get something to post there have been 6 or 7 different subjects... and it comes across as the ol' "What the H*** is he talking about?" So I just sit back and enjoy
We change subjects around here faster than a puppet on amphetamines...
those suckers are sneaky fast!
Has anyone used Sun's OpenOffice? How compatible is it with MS Office documents?
Sorry I didn't create anything good here this afternoon. We had a staff meeting I had forgotten about ... and I have a HS game to cover here in a bit.
Keep fighting the power.
j-z... I looked into it (downloaded it, but never used it). From what I could gather it was about 95% compatible... If I remember correctly there were some formatting issues that kept it from being 100%. Its UI is quite different though.
there is not a good equiv. to Vizio in OpenOffice....everything else is cool when you get used to it. it's much lighter than office, but I haven't noticed it to be less powerful.
I've just finished creating my first flyer using MS Word 2007 and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I love it. I can't beleive what they've done with the design capabilities. Also, you can publish from Word documents straight to a blog, etc. They have made desktop publishing much easier. OK, I'm over it.
The end.
1. I think 5 hours sleep on 3 consecutive nights would be dreamy!
2. PF- I put our deposits in for North Carolina AU license plates in 2001. There are thousands upon thousands of AU alumni here yet it took EIGHT years to get reach the measly minimum number of deposits (300) to get the ball rolling.
3. I'm sure it will be too hot for me on game day, o/w I'd be stalking a bunch of tailgaters.
4. mytommyd - yes, I lived in Div A of Mag Dorm my freshman year.
5. j-z are you worried about being able to open OpenOffice docs in Word or vice versa?
I used OO for a couple of years before I finally broke down and bought Office for some Excel email function I needed for work. I don't recall any problems opening Office docs with OO.
I also tried the Mac version of OO last fall and it didn't work well at all.
When did Brent Poole move to WR?
This is the end of the QB discussion!
Now for the WR controversy. Who should play, Kodi or Brent?
Computer nerds.
Monica,
Once I figured out where they put all the buttons, I like Word 2007.
JayGT - you created HABOTN, and it's here this afternoon, well evening now. So OF COURSE you created something GREAT this afternoon.
Cincy - Exactly! They scrambled the heck out of all the buttons, but gosh some of the features are so much better. Things that would have saved me LOTS of time in my previous position.
As a non profit chick I've tried all the freeware/shareware/stolenware/out there and just for me it's not worth it. Hit a snag here and there and the time it takes to work around will make you nuts.
what a suck up, THT!
FSJ - done! God bless y'all!!!
well, some Hottie should have given JayGT a hall pass long afore I got home tonight.
and watch out Miller, or I'll show you my MasterCard
4 in a row; I'm starting to look like a nail
WHY do the Braves pitch to Ryan Howard???!!!!
The Braves pitch? I just thought they threw...
My dog needs a new collar... and seeing as it is almost football season, I think it's time to get my Blue border collie an Orange AU collar....
Anybody know a good place to get one? I have seen some solid orange ones, and some orange plaid ones... which do you fine folks suggest?
I may be on my way to creating a telecommuting job of giNORmous proportions for myself - cross your fingers!
Dusty - Google Auburn Dog Collar and just wallow in the options.
That's where I saw those 2 options, Mon... I was hoping for somewhere to get one that I wouldn't have to pay shipping...
Can't you get one at J & M when you go to the game next week?
DMiller,
Where are you?
Monica,
Do you need an employee?
Fingers crossed.
I'm in the B'ham area...(Helena/Alabaster)
Unfortunately... I am unable to attend said game next week. In fact, I may not even get to watch it without recording it.
The Auburn store in the Galleria has Auburn collars and leashes in a couple of different styles. Daughter and I were there a few weeks ago and there were many.
MrsTHT's flight finally left almost 2 hours late. She'll still have about an hour layover at Logan in Bahstan, so she should be good.
Thanks cincy.... been so long since I've been inside the Galleria that I didn't know there was an AU store in there....
I'll check it out.
Cincy - if it works like I'm planning it in my head (hardy har har) I would remain the employee of my current employer. I LOVE this organization. Best I've ever been associated with and I'd like to stay connected. If it works the way we hope it does I would do all their Social Media Marketing, research and the "vision" end of development. They agree I could do that from B'ham!! As it always goes with non-profit, now we have to find a way to pay for me.
Safe travels to Mrs. THT!!
yippee!
Congrats to Caudle... named #2
No decision yet on Rollison redshirting.
Evan Wood(Chuck)bery's twitter...
"@auburnbeat Neil Caudle named No. 2 quarterback. No decision on Tyrik Rollison redshit, per Chizik"
I must admit I was hoping it would be Tyrik.
I was hoping for Caudle... just because I'm going to hope Todd's arm doesn't fall off, and I would hate to waste a year of Tyrik's eligibility and waste a redshirt for no good reason...
Mon - me too. I've still got my train ticket.
I guess you didn't notice Chuckbery's typo...
I was hoping for a "well, I guess he had more than the flu the other day" response from somebody...
Come on paypul... you're slippin!
Shigellosis
So... who do ya'll have tonight?
Arab @ Oneonta
Monk @ 9
I have tried, and tried to like Monk... I just can't do it. I just can't get into it....
I have to close up this office and go home!
Has anybody seen the Memphis gameday shirt for their game vs. Ole Miss?
http://store.cstv.com/marketplace/store_contents.cfm?store_id=15&product_id=154663&partner_id=16259
If I went to Memphis I would buy that shirt. I love it.
Thanks for the OO info. I have Office, but a friend needed something compatible and cheap. I'll pass along the info.
Anybody watching the Skins/Pats game?
j-z,
We just started watching it. How did the Redskins score?
D.Miller - The Monk in me won't let me stop watching, even though it's pretty much gone down the toilet. Thankfully, this is last season.
that's a funny shirt.
Looks like Caudle is the #2 QB. I hope to see Rollison redshirt.
TV Football = me watch
Goldmine and War Eagle Extra are both saying Caudle is #2.
Thank you all for all the well wishes for my daughter.
It means more than I can adequately express with words.
Yeah, Chiz announced it a little while ago...
Hopefully rollison redshirts and they continue to develop him.
Good night Hotties,
I'm going to plop in bed next to Molly dog and watch Monk, football, and old movies until who knows when.
btw, I would consider it an insult to him to do a biographical sketch for tomorrow's honoree. Less is more.
fsj... I feel as though I missed something...
I hope your daughter is ok.
less is more. nite THT.
congrats to Mr. Caudle.

I prayed for her today FSJ... and it was weird using "FSJ's daughter" in a prayer. You know you are in deep in a blog when you are using people's screen names in prayers. I know God knew who I was talking about, though :)
Good Evening, Hotties!
About CDV, we spent our first year of wedded bliss there--enjoyed the elegant early dentist furniture.
We first lived on Locust, then moved to Poplar--drove around campus recently and both apartments are gone. Most of CDV is gone now.
FSJ,
Prayers have been lifted up for Abbie and well as the whole family.
Think positive!
FSJ--
Hope you get good news very soon.
God bless!
Campbell just threw one hell of a pass.
Campbell needs to string a few of those helluva passes in a row this year. He has had a rough preseason.
WTH is Jim Zorn wearing?
Finally got my power back on....
Checked out the Tigers soccer team though...we were up 1-0 when we left.
TD Campbell!
Campbell used that boy like a kleenex.
That TD was beautiful!
Jason Cambpell scores!
Holy Crap! That cap JC is wearing is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.
Kristina,
Soccer tied 1-1 now.
I'm hearing Neil Caudle is named #2 anyone else hear?
Shoot...maybe I was bringing them good luck.
It's been a long day, think I will fix myself a cocktail.
jhag...
That's affirmative.
I wanna make some brownies.
That is all.
I did get to see Chris Todd and Trooper crossing the street after practice in the stadium tonight so that was exciting. I didn't think to yell "No drops!" though, dangit.
Correction: I wanna make some brownies and listen to some Dark Side of the Moon. Or OK Computer and The Bends.
That is all.
Sorry I'm out of the loop today
j-z.... special brownies?
Serious cool points deducted there K-money.
Aren't all brownies special in their own way?
jz...
We would make fine neighbors.
Oh no...not "special" brownies. Just brownies.
Campbell just took a shot!
Part of me is disappointed by that...
I want brownies now!
of course, I haven't had dinner yet...so I just want food.
I know, I know, JZ. We were just driving around campus since we had no power at home and then out of nowhere I see a football player, then another, then another and I am sure I lose some more cool points for actually squealing when I saw Tyrik. They caught me off guard. Then Malzahn comes wheeling out behind us in a gold cart. It was too much for me to take in and I choked. I apologize.
@ THT: Excellent work. Hope you are doing fine.
@ FSJ:
Prayers sent for you guys.
@ generator:
Most 32" LCDs use 150 watts. 47" LCDs use about 300 watts. Check the sticker behind your tv. Your directv box should have wattage marked on it too ( I'd say 40 watts max ). Get a generator with peak efficiency close to your required wattage (usually 2/3 of the rated wattage)
@ Memphis shirt: Atrocious.
I'm alive and well.
I'd squeal if I saw Tyrik too. Bonus points there.
glad to hear, Aero... keep up the good fight...
Maybe I'll skip the brownies and have a cheeseburger instead. And you best believe I'm bringing the bacon.
That should be *golf cart not gold cart...that would just be a little too flashy, kinda like using a limo to recruit...oh wait.
Michael that was a sweet post.
TRM beating Atmore 13 to 6. WOOT!
Watching Pats/Skins and listening to TRM via computer. yay
Now I have visions of Malzahn in a Golden Chariot...
I drive a gold cart.
And j-z - all fine British space music, but I would go with OK Computer.
For the record I am sick and tired - i said SICK AND TIRED of people talking about Petrino coming to Auburn EVER.
And what is this goofiness about the GA recruit hearing something at Auburn that he has to come check out?
What have you heard?
I agree Micheal, but I'll probably throw in Fake Plastic Trees anyway.
Neil Caudle has been named #2. That move just completely derailed the Rollison Express. But, on the very very good side of things, the coaches really believe that Todd is going to be good and this team is going to be good. I've heard that from someone close to the program, so take it for what it's worth.
I heard that they have been surprisingly pleased with Todd.
Eddie what do you know about the GA recruit thing?
Jonathen Wilhite just intercepted a pass and took it 100 yards for the score!
The skins gotta lose those yellow hats.
TD Wilhite!!!
Way to go Jonathan Wilhite!!!! INT run back 99 yds for a TD!!!!
Ex Tiger looking good tonight!
Actually, Petrino isn't going to Auburn. Auburn is going to Petrino on October 10th. We shall kick butt and come back home.
Mon- You must be talking about Thorton out of Stone Mountain? He has been getting a school that loves leghumpers negatively recruiting us for him. The former traitor, Gardner is supposedly saying many bad things about us all the time to sway him not to commit to us. I'm not sure if that is what you were talking about.
yep
AU soccer beginning 2nd overtime, tied 1-1
crap. i missed Wilhite. oh, well. atta boy JH.
Good evening ... those with blood type HOT!
Good evening Jet and Good night Hotties. I'm off in defeat the Rollison Express seems to be derailed to next year, but i'm also hopeful that we may be better than originally thought this year.
Eduardo ... don't lose heart on the Rollison Express.
And sleep well.
Hey there, Jet. I'm glad to see you survived your afternoon!
Yes ... it's been a busy week ... lots of interesting challenges not including Mrs. Jet's issues.
Looking forward to game week.
Jet, When will y'all get the verdict on Mrs.Jet's ailment?
How is Mrs. Jet?
monday
Should find out tomorrow ... she's feeling OK ... a little drugged ... some pain ... not overwhelming though ... having to be a left hander.
Getting close.
Leave no doubt, Herman.
Finish it.
They will remember forever the night
They played the Titans.
Woot.
Run it up!
