First Post: Wednesday of Week Three
Hey everyone. I hope you enjoyed yesterday's video. Us beat hacks got a kick out of Ben Tate telling some of the TV reporters to shut their mouths. It's usually us being the noise offenders, so I felt fortunate to catch them slippin' on tape. It makes for gripping cinema.
No more hating on Sensi for picking West Virginia. The HABOTN is founded on free speech. If he wants to makebad decisions unpopular choices, we should trash respect his decision.

Good job, Scott
IV - did you see my question on the previous page?
Scott,
Sad to saw I am not a grad. That is an unfulfilled life dream that I can't include on my resume. I made it for two years, starting in the fall quarter of 1957. I ran out of guts, money and smarts at the same time in 1959. I always meant to go back and finish, but it wasn't to be. At least, I got to go for a couple of years and started the quarter we won the National Championship. What a way to start college.
thanks THT
Cincy,
Yes drugs can do wonders if they are the right ones.
Edit IV, edit. saw=say.
Dayquil and Nyquil have been my new favorite friends
You must not have gone to see the doctor.
I want to get the flu shot, but my doctor will not give them this early in the season. Says the effects will wear off before flu season is over. I usually get mine in Dec.
No, nurses tend to treat themselves. I don't get flu shots - I don't like shots. I don't think this was the flu - I think just a really bad cold. Fever has stayed around 100 and is easily handled by the Dayquil. I expect to be well by tomorrow.
Hey, IV - you two still overlapped some. He started in '58. I'll bet he wishes he had been there in '57.
I like this quote by Pat Forde, "You know there are different sheriffs in town when Auburn and Mississippi State combine for 73 points a year after combining for five."
Glad to hear that Cincy. Take care of yourself.
Scott C.
I wished all of my Auburn friends could have been there in 1957. We had a great coach, a great team and a great bunch of Auburn students to support them.
Then again, if all of my Auburn friends had been there in 1957, they would be old folks like me, 70 and cranky.
IV - I say you re-enroll and get us another NC!
Goodness you have been busy since I left.
Scott C.
It has crossed my mind; however, I don't think my heart could take being around all of those beautiful young ladies that would be in classes with me.
Zoo Keep,
How are the zoo inhabitants doing?
They are cooped up because of the rain and driving me crazy, IV. But thanks for asking. How are you and your house?
I am cooped up with an old woman and she has already drove me crazy. I have put up with that old woman for 41 years, amazing.
Good point about the young ladies at AU, IV. Reminds me of a story. One of our good friends has an 18 year old son with CP who is confined to a wheelchair. He has started school at MSU now, but went down to visit AU while looking at colleges. While he was there, he was looking at a pretty girl passing by and managed to drive his wheelchair right off a curb and completely flip out of it. He got by with only a few scrapes and bruises. His dad (who was standing right there) thought it was hilarious. The son will laugh at the story now, but admits to being really embarrassed at the time. He is a really cool kid. I wish he had picked AU, but I think some things were set up a bit better for his situation at MSU.
Maybe they chose MSU because fewer pretty girls = fewer wheelchair accidents!
Glad your friend's son got a chance to get an education whether it was AU, MSU or wherever. Sounds like a very special person.
By the way Scott C. I am sure you already know this since your Dad started AU in 1958, but the '58 team was a darn good team also. 9-0-1 was their record with only a tie with the GT buzzing insects in Atlanta to blemish their record. That team held Tenn. to no first downs and negative total yards in the first game of the season.
Haven't ever heard a lot about the '58 team from my dad. He does have fond memories of 1963 when Mailon Kent came in for Jimmy Sidle to win the IB for AU. '63 ended up being my dad's senior year (he was a pharmacy major, which was/is a 5 year program).
Talking about concerts at Auburn, the best I saw was Ben Folds Five, but my Dad had a bunch of big names there while he was in school. I know he saw Elvis and also want to say the Rolling Stones came while he was there also.
Hey gang - evidently I will see you all there Saturday!! Comin' down with my son and a couple of his friends. Man I hope we play good!
For anyone still here and doing the math, five seasons would have been 58, 59, 60, 61, 62. My dad was there for the 63 season living in married student housing and working while waiting for my mom to finish school.
Concerts?!? 83 E Day weekend with .... Pat Benatar!!
Outta here! Have a great night, everybody!
Saw the earlier thread on concerts Eddie - I didn't see a lot of big acts but had some good ones - Ted Nugent in the Gump was one I kind'a remember.
The music I remeber fondly where the local bands we had on game nights or at free concerts - "Mother's Finest" was a great one (thy were local from Athens, Ga close to where I grew up). Other locals I remember where "Choice", "T. Graham Brown and Rio Diamond" and ......damn so many slipped my mind.....
Cincy..
No..Jimmy didn't have an Auburn jersey on..
Randy Owens had a Bama jersey at his from what I saw in the Crimson White the next day.
"You are the Pan"
-Rufio
LT...Were Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts still around when you were ar AU. I left in 1980 and Mothers Finest was around then.
think happy thoughts
Uh Oh...Zookeeper ain't gonna like this...
Tebow
I don't recall seeing Doug while at Auburn Hoopie, but did see them a few times during summers off at the old B & L Warehouse in Athens. They would rock the house!! Their alternate lyrics were hilarious!
B & L Warehouse - Aaahhh - fond (sketchy) memories. Had a special every Wed. night - $5 all you could drink - they called it Zoo Night. Some of the cheapest most God Awful liquor known to man. Made for some interesting Thursdays crawling around on roofs and scaffolds trying to build houses.
Trivia...
The Allman Brothers 1st show after Duane Allman died was in Auburn.
Always wished I had seen the Allman Brothers when Duane was still alive.
You and me both. However he died before I was born.
I was sitting in my local bar in B'ham 20+ years ago on a weeknight when this long blond hair in a leather suite comes staggering in. .Grabs a drink and sits down at my table while I was listening to this one-eyed 12-string guitar player. Made a little small talk and he asked if the guy minded if he played a little. I thought he looked kind'a familiar... Ended up being Greg in town for a concert the next night. He was screwed up as a goat roper. Owner ended up locking the doors to the bar and he played past 3:00 am to about 20 of us sitting around the stage. I was worthless the next day.
Mighty quiet in here tonight.
I wish I could say the same about work :-(
Sounds like a great time.
Gregg Allman has cleaned up his act in recent years, but I would have loved to just sit there and watch him play.
I always thought of him as a keyboardist - He flat ripped the strings off that 12.
Enough of my miss-spent youth...
What is the story on Fairely? Need him back in there.
Cincy,
What did you do about your red cornhole bags?
Sometimes I feel like I've been tied to the whipping post. After reading this thread, that's exactly how I feel.
GET UP! IT'S A BIG GAME WEEK!
I think it's just a slow night Jet.
Where is Monica when we need her? Oh yea, I forgot.
IV,
We played with them last week and I told everyone they were very burnt orange. My real orange ones came in on Monday. All is right in the cornhole world.
You are still cracking me up.
Are the orange ones the right shade of orange?
So Roy Adams, the infamous Tennessee booster from Memphis is saying on the Tennessee boards that the University of Memphis is going to make a run at Tuberville after this season?
Anybody here see that happening?
Mike,
Was there a Willie Nelson concert while we were there? There's a part of my brain that thinks I went to see Willie at some point. That part is kinda...ummm, hazzzy.
I do remember seeing that dead comedian guy, Mitch Hedinaburger. Less hazy evening
Craziest concert I ever saw was a free Outkast show when I was in Athens visiting. Out of control.
A tad brighter than burnt orange, but they look pretty close. Definitely not a yellow orange!
Yes FSJ, I could see it happening, but I am not sure he will take it. I believe he is looking for bigger fish to fry.
If I were him, I'd hold out for either the Texas A&M or Louisville jobs..
Cincy, Which color do you like to toss, Orange or Blue?
FSJ, Tubbs may be looking for larger fish than A&M or Louisville.
Neither Tub's nor Phat Phil better hold their breaths for a top 30 team. They better set their sites on the Memphis's and such of the world.
Now, someone has finally mentioned Tuberville in connection with a job that makes sense to me.
BCS conference schools aren't looking for guys in their final days of coaching.
+1 Jet - That's what I meant.
You are right Jet but it does mean that Tubbs won't be looking for a top 30 or so.
does = doesn't, my bad
Tub's can look - but he will be on the outside looking in IMHO.
No animosity what so ever against him - but I think most major programs will be looking younger.
What do you think about Tubs to South Carolina.
And, IV, I like to pitch with the team that is winning - doesn't matter which color :) My aim is the pits most times.
Agreed on Tubs, he'll go to a "lesser" school.
Oh yeah, and I've seen Willie a couple of times. He's great and I highly recommend Willie with Winton Marsalis "Two Men with the Blues". Most excellent.
He has his money now and can be a little selective, but you are right that most programs will be looking for a younger coach. I think he might still be able to hook up with a major program if he is able to do so in the next couple of years.
I don't think he would be interested in SC, but what do I know?
The only Major I see him getting a sniff of is maybe Miami..... If that job opens after the season I see us hearing his name in the mis - But that would be a long shot at best for him.
mis=mix
Willie and Wynton would be awesome. I'd want to go two nights, though: once to remember and once to, well, enjoy myself and not.
Don't count Coach TT out yet. I have seen weirder things happen.
PF - "Two Men with the Blues" is a CD. One of my favorites.
Ah Cincy,
I bet you are a good tosser.
how many years has Shannon been at Miami? Seems a little early to run him out. Plus he beat FSU. I don't think Miami will be an option for Tubs or anyone else real soon.
Haven't heard it Norm. I'll have to pick it up. Do I file it with other Willie albums or do I file it next to Hot House Flowers? Those are the type of problems I face on a daily basis.
3rd year there for him. Just a lot of rumblings out of south FLA that they ain't too happy with Shannon. They want to get back to the glory fays a little faster than he has provided.
Cincy ...
You could be the 5th worst tosser on the face of the earth and still be ahead of ehyou, Norm, J-Zhag and me.
I think we are not (gasp) going to tailgate this weekend. We own a condo a block off of campus and I think we will spend the day there and grill out for our tailgate. I am just too wiped out to try and do the whole tailgate thing this week. Hate that I will miss seeing the hotties!
howdy
Jet,
I thought y'all did a great job!
The HABOTNistas played Cornhole at CincyTiger stadium on the day of the Mississippi State game.
It seemed like we played for 60 minutes, but it was probably 20.
The final score when we gave up due to ineptitude?
3-2. Take that, J-Zhag and Norm!
Just takes a little practice to get the throwing motion down and then you can hit the hole most every time.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Cincy, LMAO on that one.
Double laughter - I love it!
Tommy Tuberville to Washington State. Mark it!
You would!
Yes, that's true Cincy. Wait...you're talking about... Nevermind.
It's so slow tonight that I am about to fall asleep at the keyboard so I think I will call it a night. Everyone have a peaceful night and a bright Orange and Blue sunshiny day tomorrow. It's been fun. Goodnight all.
Could they comprehend The Hay Is Already in the Barn @ Washington State?
PF - I just have a massive "Willie" file on my iPod. If you're (or anyone else reading) a Willie fan, it's excellent.
So im going to be sitting in a box at the swamp saturday afternoon for the Florida/ Tennessee game, should be intresting
I have seen WIllie in concert about 5 or 6 times. The last time was probably 20 years ago. I do love some WIllie.
jhag,
If you can't be in Auburn that sounds like a neat place to be.
Norm, Norm, Norm...you get your mind out of the gutter
Quiet board tonight; didn't take me long to get caught up. Concerts were awful while I was at AU. I guess Crosby, Stills and Nash was the best, and it wasn't that great. Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure that Still was with them.
One of my biggest regrets is that I never saw Joe Walsh. Wonder if he still tours?
Nevermind, it's your birthday, you can keep it in the gutter.
I think they might get that LT, but what would be interesting is how they would respond to the BBQ and the boys that'd go with it.
Ya know all joking aside, wherever he goes he'll run a clean program, and graduate a lot of players, and probably even get them to play some good football.
Enjoy the massacre UOjhag
Just for wondering, when do things start getting geared up in Auburn for a night game?
This will make 4 in a row - I wonder what that means.
Yeah that means its time to go to bed. War Eagle everyone!
We start out at 9 am with breakfast at the condo then head to our tailgate spot about 10:30. We eat and visit until time for Tiger Walk, 4:45 pm this week. Then we go in the stadium about an hour or so before kickoff. But, you probably don't have to start that early :)
My favorite was a jet hole-out after a blatant J-Z deflection. That's some cornhole skillz.
cincy - I'm just picking, it seemed like a good opportunity.
yeah, it was.
ehyou - nice. He was my favorite character from HSB, one of my favorite shows.
love your pic, Norm. Has it always been that and I've missed it?
I'm a prodigious Willie fan. I'm sure my Willie file is larger than average.
cincy - nah, I think I've used that for a week or so. It's about time for a new one. I'm about tapped out on "notable Norm's". I think I have 1 left.
Elturbo doesn't have student ticket to this one, so I'm contributing my four to him and his posse.
I'll watch this one on TV as I have to get on a plane early the next a.m.
Buenos Noches.
Have I just been called out by ehyou?
whattup hotties. i just found out that UT is now selling AU tickets. let's fill Neyland up with hotties!

sorry for that but my linky directions are at work. :)
Jake Holland - 20 tackles, 13 solos and 3 for a loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovered...those were really his numbers I swear...
I don't think I'm tactful enough to take it any further in good conscience.
Wow, I had been thinking of Rockwell for some time...nice one.
Good night all. It's been a long few days and nights for me and I'm wiped. Check you later.
I don't see where any one has asked, so I will.
Jay G.,
What's your score prediction for the weekend?
LSU vs UNC in 2010 chick fil a kickoff game
just got home and saw that on local news, didn't read 500+ posts to see if y'all've already discussed it.
MrsTHT met a dietitian today who was on her way, and I'm not making this up, to CORNHOLE PRACTICE! This lady is in a cornhole league in Raleigh.
never heard of that THT. funny.
u headed back to AU saturday?
yep, Scottie B, MrsTHT and I will be there.
nice. hopefully we'll meet up again. our travel plans are still up in the air (as always). hopefully we'll be in AU on friday nite.
we'll be leaving here about 6 pm, so we won't get to Newnan until midnight or later. We'll still be up in time to have the breakfast buffet at the Auburn Hotel/Conf Ctr on Saturday morning.
Just googled cornhole...it really exists. Its organized.
http://www.playcornhole.org/
I'd love to play, but I'm just not in shape for organized athletics.
i hate posting stuff from other sites, but since i worked till 10:30 tonite here's some stuff i found interesting:
1. why does it take 2+ games to find a punt returner? seriously? can't 1 guy hold on to the ball? auditioning 4 guys at this point has Coach Boulware in a very ill mood. that's worrisome.
2. Trooper says he likes Jay Wisner b/c he does 'grunt work' that other guys don't want to do. no one else wants to do it? (scratching my head) 2 guys are getting all the catches. need someone else to step up.
I just received in the mail today notification that I need to send payment for my "AUBORN UNIVERSITY" license plates. I'm going to the NCDMV web site now to see if they have a picture of said plate. I know it has the AU logo, but I don't know if it says AUBORN (or AUBURN) UNIVERSITY anywhere.
i'm guessing that let-R didNT com frum aN edUmacationAL faciltI, huh?
it came from the SLU (Special License Unit) of the NCDMV. And they haven't added it to their web site yet :-(.
I'll send my check in and see what happens.
WoW! Those are some AUsome pics, Scottie B!
Thanks for sharing. It's all I can do not to go wake up MrsTHT and show them to her.
:)
there's a lot of good ideas there for AU Room #2. nite THT.
Apparently I showed up to the party a little late.
yep, that you did. I've got to get to the state archives in Raleigh in the morning, so I'm also going to call it a night.
Sweet dreams to all the Hotties, filled with AU love and UA-T hate.
j-z - that is weird. I posted that exact same sentence, word for word, at about this time last night. Are you me?
AU 48
WVU 23
"Are you me?"
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
goo goo g'joob
I claim this blog in the name of YOU LIE!!!
"Trooper says he likes Jay Wisner b/c he does 'grunt work' that other guys don't want to do. no one else wants to do it? (scratching my head) "
That probably means Blake and Benton aren't willing to do the blocking and decoy stuff.
"LSU vs UNC in 2010 chick fil a kickoff game"
Well at least LSU didn't turn it down.

Auburn vs UT tickets, I know the Auburn Section is GG, and I notice that section is full, but the section next to it is available incase you are wondering where the Auburn fans will be sitting.
RK- You going to the game?
Making phone calls right now to see how many tickets I need to try to pick up.
I can't believe they are $70 per ticket!
RK- Yepp, not light on the wallet. I already got my 2, but i'm now trying to maybe get more.
Are you sure GG is the Auburn section? For some reason I thought it was ZZ?
RK- My UT Tickets came from the Auburn Athletic Ticket Office, and i'm 99% sure I'm in section GG.
It's humid this morning.
mr.TD, Thurday afternoon at the latest.
I'm trying to decide if I should order them now or wait until next week after Florida waxes them and just find someone who hates their team trying to get rid of tickets.
RK- Tempting to do that. I like the sure fire face value, but you could potentially do better.
i'm debating on grabbing the upper deck seats where there's a better chance of being close to AU peeps, or getting UT Faculty/Staff tickets in the lower level corner.
hhhmm..... in all my years of going to away games i have only sat in an non-AU section ONCE, and that was at Kentucky, and i went to school there, so it wasn't a big deal. decisions, decisions.
i just know i'll be next to some massive UT toothless redneck and i'll get in a fight. i just know it. could be fun, though. :)
Scottie,
Commonwealth is a nice, friendly stadium. I went to a UK-LSU game years ago and caught midnight madness the Friday before.
Good times.
o hates their team trying to get rid of tickets.
ha.
i love Commonwealth Stadium. it's nice and clean and plenty of room. definitely not intimidating, but a good place to watch a game.
i was at the Bluegrass Miracle game. amazing. was that the one you were at Sensi?
Eddie, i guess i don't have enough pull in Tigers Unlimited yet. i couldn't buy UT tickets. :(
I wasn't at that one. I was at one where they rotated Lorenzen and some other guy. UK got waxed.
I've sat with both AU peeps and in the home teams seats at UGA, UF (student section- no bueno), and LSU. Better to sit with Auburn fans (my most recent trip to LSU was fantastic, though. Found myself among the best fans in the stadium).
i catch so much crap from UT folks up here (and i know me some me) that i'm sure i'll be pretty pumped up for that game. plus, my bro has secured us a spot on a yacht for the day! pretty excited. it'll be mixed company and i'm a really sore loser.
but first things first, BEAT WVA!
sorry for jumping ahead.
Scottie- I don't have the pull, but I know an highly regarded professor / administrator that with the Vet School and he is able to purchase all the away games, and I get his tickets since he could care less.
As far as sitting with other fans, I do it probably 1/2 of the time, because I go where I can get tickets. Being from Tennessee, I really really enjoyed sitting in the UT section in 2004 and going crazy.
i haven't thought of it like that Eddie. ok, i'll lead Bodda Getta from the lower level in the 4th quarter. look for me!
I was in a UT section in 2004, but it cleared out right after the half, so that was fine with me.
PF - Thanks for the heads up on the party gettin' started
In my drug (Nyquil) induced sleep last night, I dreamed we had a 93 yard run from scrimmage for a touchdown against Georgia. I woke up feeling so happy.
I think we win this weekend, but honestly I am more worried about this game than I am Tennessee. Wonder why?
Cincy- I'm vice versa with you on the this game and the UT game. They scare me much more so than WVU.
Why? 0-4 vs Georgia Tech and Southern Cal comes to mind.
Eddie, UT scares you? They scare me in that I think Coach O may try to eat one of our players, other than that, I think they have much further to go than we do.
I have my sister, she's a UT student, requesting guest passes, which means if I get them, I will be in the midst of the UT student section. That should be great fun.
I hate Neyland Stadium.
I'm with Eddie. UT scares me more than WVU.
UT's D is really really good, and it's our first game on the road against a D who can dominate a game.
Probably our offense's first big test and it comes on the road.
