BONUS BLOGGIN: Jeff Lebo speaks
Prepare.
- He noted that Auburn's opening-day oppponent, Niagara, was a really good team last year.
- He feels "very strongly" about Dewayne Reed being "one of the best point guards in the league."
- On F Lucas Hargrove: "He strong enought, tough enough, to guard inside now. They can't move him. It's been fun to watch his body transform. I don't see him playing any center, but I see him playing some at small forward and some at power forward."
- C Johnnie Lett is still dealing with the ankle injury that undermined his 2008-09 season. Seriously. Same injury.
- On freshmen: ``We've got four freshmen. Defensively, Earnest Ross and Andre Malone are ready. They can shoot the ball on the catch. They need to work on the dribble. Kenny Gabriel -- he's skinny at 6-8, but he can shoot. He's got to get stronger. Inside guys, Chubb and Armstrong, they'll get better as the season goes on. Chubb (who is 6-9) can really move and really run. They're both physical guys. If you walk them through the airport, we look like an SEC team this season. I hope we play like one."
- On G Frankie Sullivan: ``He goes so fast. We're trying to gear him down and play more under control. We're obviously going to play him a lot."
- Lebo wouldn't commit to Sullivan being a starter.
- On F Brendan Knox: ``He's got to do a better job of staying away from foul problems."

Goodness gracious Sccott
Who is this Lebo you speak of?
Finally some basketball. BTW Auburn picked 6th in the west by ESPN. Jay...do you see it differently?
He coaches round ball but not very well
He coaches well but doesn't recruit well.
Does Lucas have ADHD? Watching him makes me think he does. Especially when he's on the bench or during warmups. He's entertaining during those periods, though.
I thought basketball started in March
If that's true surely Bama is 5th in the west.
If you walk them through an airport? WTH is that all about? Hahahahaha. Best quote ever. If they start losing, I'm bringing this back up. Something to the effect of "...but they're winning the airport."
Bryan: I don't see this team being very good ... unless at least two freshmen are really good.
OK back to important stuff FOOTBALL
6th in the west is highly dissapointing to me. I was hoping for another NIT bid this year and build more momentum heading into the new arena next year. No postseason this year means no Lebo next year.
Yeah, what's the football team look like at the airport? Better or worse than Arkansas?
I think what JGTate meant to say was "Jimmy's under the boards. Jimmy's in the open. Jimmy makes the shot."
Who are the top AU footbal players in need of Jimmy's "plylometric" shoes?
Not another year of rebuilding for basketball?!?!
Did a check. Niagara was 19-10 last year in the Metro Atlantic League. What I would consider "big" wins were over Central Michigan and St. John's. But I base that purely on the fact that those are the only two schools I've heard of on their schedule that they beat.
Every year is a rebuilding year for Auburn hoops. Maybe the new arena will fix something.
basketball?
I ran a couple of games in the gym the other day. the heavyset kid wouldn't pass it to me.
