First post: Monday of Week Seven
Hey everyone. Thanks for your patience yesterday. Some displeasing air travel took me out of commission for long periods of time and created fatigue I typically don't battle on Sunday nights. I wanted to do a video. It just wasn't meant to be.
You can read below my story about Antonio Coleman that appeared in today's editions. I'll say right here, as I did in the comments section, that I don't believe Coleman is upset about team chemistry. He's upset about registering zero tackles during the past two games. He wants to be a bigger asset and he's not sure about how to do that.
So he's planning to speak with Chizik about it.
Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

TODAY'S SCHEDULE
Public schools are closed for the big COLUMBUS DAY event -- was he worth a real holiday? -- so I'm chillin' at the house with The Daughter. I'm not planning to do much with the HABOTN today, though you never know when I'll break out a post examining Kentucky.
Here's what the next few days look like. All times are CDT:
Mon., Oct. 12, OFF
Tue., Oct. 13, 4:30 p.m. (Chizik presser at 11:30 a.m.; some players available around noon.)
Wed., Oct. 14, 4:30 p.m.
Thu., Oct. 15, 4:30 p.m. (Tiger Talk at 7 p.m.)
Fri., Oct. 16, OFF
Sat., Oct. 17, vs. Kentucky, 6:30 p.m. (ESPNU)
Sun., Oct. 18, 5 p.m.
Mon., Oct. 19, OFF
Tue., Oct. 20, 4:30 p.m. (Chizik presser at 11:30 a.m.; some players available around noon.)

Sensi..actually bidness is much better than this past summer.
I'm not understanding why a double standard seems to be the order of the day.
It's OK for Hotties to sling stuff at players, but stuff can't be slung at the Hottie slingers?....
Time for the old cliche....If you can't take it..don't dish it. If you want to dish it, then man up and expect to have to take it. It's only words.....right?
To say it the touchy feely way....It obviously makes some Hotties unconfortable to get slung at. It makes me uncomfortable to have players slung at, so if there is slinging on the HABOTN, I might as well sling at the slingers so that we can all wallow in it together.
Norm,
My dad was the belt person. He only gave you one lick; however, that was a lick to remember. I think I can still feel the soreness from one of his belt licks.
New Page?
I was a bit late but it is indeed a brand new page!
I was thinking a new page would equal new upbeat attitude, but oh well.
I blame the players, the coaches, the fans, the beat writers, the pollsters, Bobby Petrino, Arkansas, all the Hotties and Bama for last weekend's loss. Somewhere in my blame i'm correct.
Hoopie, I've said it all along, sling whatever you want at me. I haven't been running away from anything. I've taken what you've dished out and thrown it back at you. Who is running away?
It's you that keeps manipulating everything that is said into whatever you want it to be.
Sean gets point for the Stephen King reference.
We didn't win because of the times.
Sensi, if it reaches 180, sell.
That or Sensi. I can't decide.
Good grief Charlie Brown, can we move on and forget this little episode of so called mud slinging?
Just a Slingin...
That was Vince Young and Kerry Collins last night.
Slinging stuff all over the field and none of it hit.
Anyway, onto a better topic.
Do Ronnie and the Dolphins take the Jets down tonight?
No, RK, but it should be fun to watch.
Yes, go Dolphins.
As a former Dolphin fan, and seriously reconsidering my current afiliation...I will be rooting for Ronnie Brown and Co. tonight,
Blaming is pretty pointless. There is a difference between blaming and discussing where we need improvement. I respect all the hard work there players and coaches put in. Sometimes things don't work out the way we would like, but don't pretend that these guys aren't trying. I am pretty sure that if players or coaches weren't doing their best, Chiz would lay the smack down.
Don't worry be happy.
Hoopie- To be fair, I think RK is not backing away from your comments. He has responded each time. I understand where you are coming from, but please understand where others are coming from. College football is now big business and fans have the right to talk about how they feel about what's going on. I don't agree with everything in here, but it's better to debate it than trash someone. Hoopie, you sling it as much as anyone in here, but I like that and appreciate it, because it is expected and I think we all believe we are friends in here, even if we disagree to disagree.
Don't give up on the Titans. Say Hello 11-5, starting in New England this weekend.
Steve and everyone else- Anyone think that just maybe Arkansas was better than us on Saturday? I do, and I'm fine with it. I blame them for being ready to play.
E-Bro,
I agree, New England coming off a loss is ripe for the picking.
Arkansas played Saturday night like they had to win the game to save their season.
They didn't do bad during the afternoon either. The game was crucial to them going to a bowl game.
Unfortunately, I think we were a victim of our own success. It is hard to continually play at a high level every week and the players probably thought Tennessee was the big hurdle, not Arkansas. It was a trap game, and we fell into it.
E-bro, as much as I have been optimistic about the last FIVE games, going on the road to a NE team that will have zero problem defending our offense...that does not make opptimistic.
Say hello to the number one draft pick.
Colt McCoy - here we come.
Enough about Arkansas. We do have a game this weekend against Kentucky. Our offense should be fine, but containing Cobb and Locke could be an issue, even sans Hartline. Still want to see if Cobb plays any QB past the wildcat.
What is the last good Texas Top 5 pick? Surely Tenn won't fall into that trap....again.
Colt McCoy, eh?
BTW Sense, yesterday you wanted a list of Heisman candidates. One more name to throw on the list: Jordan Shipley. Saw him in person against Wyoming. That guy is a player. On pace for over 100 catches this season and he has two punt returns for touchdowns in two different Big 12 games. Hook 'em Horns.
Ricky Williams has turned out fine once Ronnie Brown helped shoulder the load...and he gave up the weed.
What draft pick was Aaron Ross?
Chris is Simms is good, no?
Chris Simms - good backup.
Eddie...I will always have a problem with folks throwing sarcastic comments at players and coaches based on assumptions, speculation or partial info.
I personally enjoy sensible discussion or ponderings of team/player/coaches strengths, weaknesses or issues.
Slinging mud at the opposition, SEC, NCAA or anyone other than the team is fun and many Hotties are very good at it.
AU deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Steve,
I thought this weeks game vs KY would be our trap game, stuck between Arkansas and LSU, but we don't have to worry about it being a trap now.
Lock and Tex Cobb can make plays for KY, but who knows if they have anyone to do anything at the QB spot?
Looking at the stats, the backup QB for UK didn't do jack on Saturday, but he did oversee the drive that got the score to 28-26. Not sure how much was him or just Cobb and Locke.
How did UT let Cobb get away? He's from Alcoa.
Sensi,
I know you have taken a lot of ribbing for your picks against Auburn, but it has all been in fun (most of it anyway.) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you love Auburn and you would like to always pick them to win, but sometimes logic wins out and you have to say who you really think will win. I don't think that makes you less of a fan. Although I am having fun being the kool-aid drinking, orange & blue sunglasses wearing, 'we can win them all' fan! Glad to see you picked Auburn over Kentucky. All is right with the world.
I told ya All Auburn All Orange was a bad idea.
Don't savvy Eddie?
Anyone heard about any recruits committing anytime soon? Bama got a big one today.
Is it really a big one or is it just a big one because it Bama got him?
Good question.
Eddie I'm also going to take the blame for the loss because of my hatred for mr petrino. Can't stand the man. as a holdover for what he did in Louisville and mostly in Atlanta with the Falcons. I'm certain that's the reason I made the players unable to perform at their true potential. That whole Arkansas being better than us just doesn't make sense to me, I'm sure it was something else, and Sensi's pick.
I've been taking a nap. Who did the evil empire corral today?
Cincy, I know that it's all fun and games until Feb. 2.
That being said, we know that Michael Dyer is all but a lock. That's exciting!
DeAndrew White - WR from Texas. Rivals says 4 star, 11th best WR in country. Scout says 4 star, 20th best WR.
I like locks. (and some dams)
Both will soon rate him 5 stars and one of the top 5 WR's in the country.
Cincy,
You are correct.
Hoopie,
I want a list of all the offenders. It's October and time for a witchhunt.
Anyone else believe that Petrino was about to run up the score when the play clock got to zero and he "took" the delay of game. If he had taken another shot at that point to make it 51-23 then we could have killed every future Petrino to Auburn rumor.
I like keys.
On a side note, people tell me they can develop a sixth sense.
I'd rather have a dime.
So when is Dyer committing? Someone said OCt 23 at his homecoming? Does anybody really know? Does anybody really care? YES!
Eddie,
I just assumed he wanted more room to pin the kick deep and get the game over with.
Can't stand Petrino. Couldn't stand him in 2002, can't stand him now. Great offensive mind. Person, not so much.
The only time I saw him really smile at Auburn was at the Capital One Bowl after Louisville hired him. Everyone was thrown off by it at first, but then we realized he was trying to steal our recruits while still the Auburn OC.
Despite rankings, Saban knows how to determine talent and that means more than all the stars in the world. I'm hopeful that this staff is good at that as well, despite star rankings.
I'll take Trevon Reed.
Sensi,
I think the list is just lonesome ol' me.
It's ok, I'm drawing the double team today so you should be open to make big plays.
RK- Excuse me, i'm talking about the one close to the goal line when it was 41-23, sorry.
Yellow Bell branches make great switches.
Just trying to be helpful.
I have never liked Petrino - not even when he was at Auburn. Not sure why, just a feeling I guess. I was very distressed when some people were calling for him to be hired last year.
No, you and I are the tag team on the haters list, RK. Time for some doomday device from the top rope!
What's the spread on Bama-South Carolina and Florida-Arkansas this week?
Bama/SC was 17 I think.
Florida/Ark was around 18.
Sensi,
I was more of a Horsemen or Midnight Express fan as a kid...so we'd need a manager on the outside for our distractions.
What about the spread on AU-UK? I've missed that somehow.
And here we go, for the Ole Miss game, Auburn has introduced NAVY NIGHTMARE
Danny Sheridan has it Auburn -13.5
RK,
Eddie could carry the tennis racket and wear the polyester jacket.
I like the Navy Blue idea except that, shouldn't we wear our orange on Halloween night?
Eddie,
Oh the merchandising and marketing to sell new shirts.
I was about to say the same thing, E-Bro. I prefer navy AU gear, but the one time I would lean toward orange would probably be for a Halloween game.
polyester jacket?- Maybe if it looks good on me.
Let's do a Georgia Blackout on Halloween :)!!!!!!!!
what are the Vegas odds on if 'Get Down Goblin' is played during the Ole Miss pre-game?
Probably about the same as Jan Terri being head majorette.
It's about that time of year where the Orange jersey rumors come out.
Hopefully Ole Miss gets a rock on Halloween.
HOTTIES: Scratchin' and survivin'.
I'll leave you with this....Auburn Orange jersey's against LSU. Mark it down!!!!!!!!!!
Scottie, you do mean pre-game at JH, not at Michael's house, right?
What better time for orange jerseys than Halloween? When's the last time we played a home game on Halloween night? It's not every year you know.
You guys are a bunch of idiots.
So's your face.
We're about to have the orange jersey conversation again? really?
Jay G,
Hanging in a chow line?
I started the rumor by just saying it's around this time of year that the rumor gets started.
I get to be a rumormonger. Awesome.
I think the Auburn theme should be DWJTD - Do What Jan Terri Do
I think it should be DWTD for "Do what they did".
The "they" being Arkansas.
But then it should be DWTDTOWAU - Do what they did that one weekend against us
Good point.
That makes my head hurt.
AU played Florida on Halloween in 1987. My buddies and I wore masks to the game and got on the Football Review. We got a comment or two from Coach Dye and Phil Snow, if I remember correctly. Also, AU won the game 29-6 against the 10th ranked Gators and went on to win the SEC Championship.
SC, what were we ranked?
Michael - which part of that did you figure out first?
Didn't we play Ole Miss on Halloween a few years back and Tubs had mentioned that his kids wouldn't get to get candy because it was on the road and he came home to a porch full of candy?
We were ranked 6th, so it was a pretty high profile match-up.
I liked when we used to play Florida on Halloween.
RK, I think we played them on Oct 30 in Oxford in 2004, but I was wondering the last time we played a HOME game on Halloween.
I liked when Florida and Tennessee were games we played every year.
We played Arkansas at home on Halloween in 92 and 98. Tied 24-24 in 92 and lost 24-21 in 98.
Which hottie be scratchin?
It's very quiet on the radio, the eerie calm before the storm.
Paint fumes make my head hurt. Ima catch some shuteye. g'day mates.
Was all that Aero just wrote some sort of secret code?
No. That's no code. That's my diction at 2:20 AM after inhaling paint fumes. I spent the evening painting new camo on some antennas. I'm not good at it.
Is there a certain design pattern you have to follow to painting camo, or just however you feel with the colors they give you?
cool! fumes!
Remember when kids did trick-or-treating on Halloween night, not the closest Saturday? Those were the days. Also nice when kids could actually walk around their neighborhood to trick-or-treat instead of riding in cars or not even going out period. My neighborhood was undrivable back in the day on Halloween because kids and parents were out everywhere walking. Not anymore. So sad. Still a great holiday.
These days its either the church Trunk Or Treat type things or families driving to very big rich neighborhoods and taking their kids there.
Interpret "the eerie calm before the storm" Aero.
RK: It's the most disputed of all Good Times lyrics.
We still have kids going around in neighborhoods and on Halloween night here in Prattvegas. The city does do a candy walk in the afternoon in downtown P'ville so the very young kids can go with their parents around to businesses and city hall.
By the way, a story from my weekend Allman Brothers/Widespread Panic shows. Amazing how people can get so trashed at a concert...
Friday night right as the Allman Brothers came on there was this guy at the back a section who was out of it. Passed out during the Widespread Panic show on the last row of the lower level.
Security tried to wake him and he wasn't waking up. The place got loud for the music, he wasn't moving. They slapped him in the face several times, shook him, lifted his legs up trying to get him moving and he wouldn't budge...someone noticed while he was out he apparently was having a very good dream or was really enjoying the physical contact he was recieving as he was really happy to be there and everyone around started taking pictures.
They finally got the guy somewhat awake and put him in a wheel chair and when he realized what was going on he untucked his shirt to hid anything that might embarass him.
This guy paid good money to go to a show that he will have no memory of, I never understood that mentality.
Jay G,
But it made for a great skit on Chappelle's show.
"Somehow that is also correct".
Still pretty packed in my neighborhood on Halloween night, regardless of what day of the week it falls on. (There's a preposition at the end of a sentence fragment. Beat that!)
My neighborhood was brand new last year and there were only 7 or so of us who had bought a house here at the time, so it was very quiet on Halloween. This year I suspect it will be different.
Glad to hear it. May the Great Pumpkin live on forever.
I think that we may see several changes this week both on offense and defense. I don't know about special teams other than if we have to make a sub for Byrum.
What kind of changes? I don't see what we can change with limited personnel. Are you talking about schemes?
Happy Puppet Hour!
May Phil Fullmer live forever?
I don't think it has anything to do with schemes. It all about executing and doing it better than the other team. The offense cannot have a lot of 3 and outs with our limited personnel on the D. If the Offense doesn't execute, its goin to be a long game.
Hopefully this weekend was a wake up call for the team and I have no doubt we'll be back to winning.
RK, I'm thinking Charlie Brown and Peanuts, not Phil Fulmer.
Happy Puppet Hour to you, too, 2.0.
Columbus gets a whole day, and puppets only get an hour. Some things just aren't fair.
without Michael and Harrison, Puppet Hour is just two words.
HI, THT! You must be having to work for a living - you have been scarce today.
It wouldn't surprise me to see some creativity on defense. We played 3 linebackers against Arkansas. We can't continue to do that.
Reviewing the posts, looks like folks were trying to assess blame for our loss on Saturday. Look no further. AU has not one a single game I've missed because of a map meeting, including the Duval blown FG in '02 in Gainesville, the annihilation at the hands of UGa in '07, and this past weekend getting smoked by the Hogs. Next weekend is somewhat of a hybrid. I will be going to a map meeting, but I should be home before kickoff. We'll see how that plays out.
Hi Cincy - I'm on vacation, which makes me scarcer! Well, that or the prison. I was in Raleigh for a conference today and will go back there tomorrow. Was there Fri-Sun for a separate but related conference.
If nothing else, I can see us having an end playing linebacker on running downs and a db playing linebacker on passing downs.
Spike TV is running a star wars marathon. There is nothing like a good 12 hours of star wars to turn someone into a screwed up individual.
"My other vehicle is the Millennium Falcon"
and thus concludes one of the least extraordinary Puppet Hours in the history of Western Civilization.
I regret that as well as I was watching last weeks SVU on DVR.

As always Feng is correct.
My name is DoNut Holestein

Maybe Coleman will play some LB this coming week. $5 says that what he is asking Chizik about. Let a freshman play DE and let him relieve a LB when needed.
Thank goodness Feng came along to create order out of chaos.
Aw, blow it out your @$$, Freep.
Coleman at LB is not a bad idea. He seems very limited in what he is doing right now with his injuries on the line, so why not play some LB.
FENG!!!

The man behind 2009's biggest bank bust
Coleman at LB might not be a bad option as I'm sure linemen are using his injury against him where if he's in a "see the ball/hit the ball" mindset it might be easier on him.
My guess is that A.C.'s advisors may be behind this. He's not going to be on the line of scrimmage at the next level.
In this situation, it's OK. I agree with others ... he may be most useful at LB now.
Just wanted to remind everyone about what a bada$$ Ronnie Brown is....in case anyone forgot....but looks like im the only one here.
is this thing on?
well, since no one is around....
ahem....
Now it's not like me to say the right thing
But you could've called to let me know
I checked your number twice, don't understand it
So I went home
I'm here for you.
I think they all went to a party to kiss and make up. It was pretty down in here today for the most part.
ah sweet, glad to see you wtc.
i was getting to the best part though
Wonder came of the meeting today. anybody heard?
How about recruiting? Any news you folk want to tshare with someone thata doesn't follow it?
i can imagine....i was about to go back and read all i missed but then i started watching Ronnie brown run the wildcat and started getting weird in here
NUgget-so what is your take on how he game went Saturday?
i got nothing....this is where i get my news as well...here and war blog eagle.
were people jumping ship in here today?
You didn't miss much. I think a few don't like mud slinging butliek to sling it themselves or they like to get muddy or mud wrestle I'm not sure. It was sort of like a circular firing squad.
it was hard to watch. we obiviously played like crap and i think the winning got to our heads a little bit, but i thought that EVERYONE play bad and that was the best part....everyone had a down game instead a few this week and still get a loss. then a few next week and risk another loss.
i think it was Jay at track'em tigers that wrote an awesome post today that talked about the best times are ahead of us which i feel as well. we are not near as bad as we played saturday...i know we aren't we are just young and not deep. i am still in love with this team though.
Not junping ship just very thin skinned. 1 loss and it was lost because someone didn't wear the same underwear as the previuos weeks and they or some nonsense.
What killsme is that these folks think they know somehting about football, when in all honesty, I am the only on this blog that knows anything about football. The others are just jealous.
i guess everyone just had starts in their eyes and those were shut out saturday....but its one game and we will play another next week. all is not lost.
Happy Columbus Day folks!
I have celebrated in prime fashion.
I was pissed, and extremely in a bad mood on Saturday. My sincere apologies if I offended those who are easily offended by other's expressed opinions and vented frustrations.
My apologies...
War Eagle...
haha...nice...i like it.
i just now i have way too much emotional attachment to Auburn football....but it makes it fun. I love watching those boys play. makes me want to play.
* stars ....not starts
Jet stated sevreal days ago "we are not and never were going to be a BCS team'. He is dead on.
I want to win and expect to win every game, as I have stated before. But this team, for several reasons, has ZERO depth in certain postions. We have 1 loss. I will take 11-1 at this point.
whats up D....happy C day to you as well.....i got in a terrible mood saturday as well. its hard to watch Auburn lose in that fashion....any fashion really, but we are still 5-1 which is a pretty nice position to be in considering where we were last year.
Excellent story Kathy. Whether it is all true or not, who knows, but it is interesting reading.
D.Miller,
Never appologize if you don't mean it. You can always say you regret that others reacted the way they did.
Nugget-I wish I had my years back. i would love to play again. I gave up a scholly at a small college, after 1 year. to walk on at AU and broke a bone in my foot that would not heal right.
I don't get emotional about the game. i want AU to win, but if not, it just wasn't our day. I don;t like being around folks, on game day, that get so worked up the others around them become miserable. i do no tunderstand that.
Agreed Wtc.....the thing is, is we are going in the right direction in hurry. i have full faith in this staff and love the energy they bring. i have no doubt it is but a matter of time. and we are doing pretty well this year.
I just do not need my team to win to validate me. And just becasue your team beat mine doesn't make you a better person than me. Thos ethat act like that don't hang with me for long.
By the way, except for Alabama (which I'm not sure anyone is going to beat) the rest of the games on our schedule are very winnable.
I think we go 10-2 or 9-3.
i need to practice your control wtc. though i try not to make others miserable with my malcontent.
i will say one thing though....if arky goes down to the swamp and plays the way they did this weekend against AU...the gators better lock it up...they might find themselves 6-1.
I only get that worked up.... if I'm alone, and already in a foul mood.
My apologies are sincere...
RK....i agree they are all winnable.
D.Miller,
I didn't say they weren't, just saying you shouldn't feel the need to give an apology if you don't feel you did anything that deserves one.
Arkansas is going to get smoked this weekend.
if you are not onthe radar, they don't talk about you.
If UT was any good this year, do you think they discuss Vandy very much? The other side, not all, thought Chizik would fall fast (5-19 and all) and AU would roll over this year. They are surprised at what has happened so far. I think we can win most of the remaining games. AU prolly learns a lot from this loss. I expect a different style of defense this week.
I'm not sure about Florida's offense. They have no receivers.
That being said, a week ago I didn't think Ark's D could stop us at all.
So who knows?
Anywho.... it's time for chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk...
Who wants some?
dang fsj...thats a very bama thing to say.
Sounds good to me.
just in time for half time...good call.
Arky is not that good. We made them look good by playing poorly.
Think about it. After the horrid play in the 1st half, AU is close to coming from behind if we don't turn it over and we tackle on the kick coverage. till may not have won, but the score turns out different in my mind.
However, it was a loss and I am looking for the positives to take from it.
AuNugget...
Just calling it like I see it.
UF's defense will be too much.
This is a side thing, but anyone else weirded out by Tebow and Meyer nose to the helmet rub during the game Sat? I don't know why, but it really bothered me.
wtc,
The team didn't quit. They kept fighting in the game and that's something to take away from the game that might not have been there late last year.
This team seems to believe in itself they just did a lot of things you can't do and win on the road. I don't think Saturday's game will change the belief that they have, but I bet it will refocus the team.
You can not win with 3 turnovers, 6 penalties for 1st downs, and several 3 and outs.
At one point AU went 3 and out a couple of times in a row and the total time of possession for each series was about 55 seconds.
One series, we recieved the punt, my sister went to get a glass of tea and came straight back and we had already punted to Arky.
cincy...
It was "interesting"....
if if if....i agree we killed any momentum we gained each time. i just think that if ark gets a couple of those explosive plays and converts on them, uf's offense has not been near as explosive as last year. though their defense has not really been a problem. lsu could easily wont that game if they had any offense at all. i just think ark is better than they have been now....at least better than they were against ga and alabama.
I agree with you WERK.
As thin as our D is, our best defense is our offense moving the ball and keeping them off the field.
If we have a game with turnovers and a lot of three and outs, then our D gets exposed.
nah fsj i was just messin with you. you are the resident bama fan aren't you?
no offense to zookeeper, the HABOTN Tebow fan.
I am the token Bama fan.
:-)
UF goes undefeated this year and plays in ATL. I feel they will have found what they need by then.
UAT, if they get to ATL, will have a tough game with UF. Tebow will not go quietly into that good night. UAT may win it but as quoted already today, to be theman, you go to beat the man.'
meyer might not be able to coach after tebow leaves....it just won't be the same....he'll be constantly telling all the players "well, if tim were here, he would give me a foot massage..." it will just get weird.
FSJ,
Chest bumps I can handle, hitting each other on the rear is okay, but Meyer rubbing his nose on Tebow's facemask was just a little much for me. Too close to nuzzling for guys to be doing.
We're getting close...
