First post: Monday of Week Seven

Hey everyone. Thanks for your patience yesterday. Some displeasing air travel took me out of commission for long periods of time and created fatigue I typically don't battle on Sunday nights. I wanted to do a video. It just wasn't meant to be.

You can read below my story about Antonio Coleman that appeared in today's editions. I'll say right here, as I did in the comments section, that I don't believe Coleman is upset about team chemistry. He's upset about registering zero tackles during the past two games. He wants to be a bigger asset and he's not sure about how to do that.

So he's planning to speak with Chizik about it.

Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

Sensi..actually bidness is much better than this past summer.

I'm not understanding why a double standard seems to be the order of the day.

It's OK for Hotties to sling stuff at players, but stuff can't be slung at the Hottie slingers?....

Time for the old cliche....If you can't take it..don't dish it. If you want to dish it, then man up and expect to have to take it. It's only words.....right?

To say it the touchy feely way....It obviously makes some Hotties unconfortable to get slung at. It makes me uncomfortable to have players slung at, so if there is slinging on the HABOTN, I might as well sling at the slingers so that we can all wallow in it together.

Blaming is pretty pointless. There is a difference between blaming and discussing where we need improvement. I respect all the hard work there players and coaches put in. Sometimes things don't work out the way we would like, but don't pretend that these guys aren't trying. I am pretty sure that if players or coaches weren't doing their best, Chiz would lay the smack down.

College football is now big business and fans have the right to talk about how they feel about what's going on. I don't agree with everything in here, but it's better to debate it than trash someone. Hoopie, you sling it as much as anyone in here, but I like that and appreciate it, because it is expected and I think we all believe we are friends in here, even if we disagree to disagree.

Arkansas played Saturday night like they had to win the game to save their season.

2:14 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

They didn't do bad during the afternoon either. The game was crucial to them going to a bowl game.

Unfortunately, I think we were a victim of our own success. It is hard to continually play at a high level every week and the players probably thought Tennessee was the big hurdle, not Arkansas. It was a trap game, and we fell into it.

2:21 PM
Blogger Seanzie said...

E-bro, as much as I have been optimistic about the last FIVE games, going on the road to a NE team that will have zero problem defending our offense...that does not make opptimistic.

2:21 PM

Enough about Arkansas. We do have a game this weekend against Kentucky. Our offense should be fine, but containing Cobb and Locke could be an issue, even sans Hartline. Still want to see if Cobb plays any QB past the wildcat.

Eddie...I will always have a problem with folks throwing sarcastic comments at players and coaches based on assumptions, speculation or partial info.

I personally enjoy sensible discussion or ponderings of team/player/coaches strengths, weaknesses or issues.

Slinging mud at the opposition, SEC, NCAA or anyone other than the team is fun and many Hotties are very good at it.

AU deserves the benefit of the doubt.

2:27 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Steve,

I thought this weeks game vs KY would be our trap game, stuck between Arkansas and LSU, but we don't have to worry about it being a trap now.

Lock and Tex Cobb can make plays for KY, but who knows if they have anyone to do anything at the QB spot?

2:29 PM
Blogger E-Bro said...

Looking at the stats, the backup QB for UK didn't do jack on Saturday, but he did oversee the drive that got the score to 28-26. Not sure how much was him or just Cobb and Locke.

How did UT let Cobb get away? He's from Alcoa.

Sensi,
I know you have taken a lot of ribbing for your picks against Auburn, but it has all been in fun (most of it anyway.) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you love Auburn and you would like to always pick them to win, but sometimes logic wins out and you have to say who you really think will win. I don't think that makes you less of a fan. Although I am having fun being the kool-aid drinking, orange & blue sunglasses wearing, 'we can win them all' fan! Glad to see you picked Auburn over Kentucky. All is right with the world.

Eddie I'm also going to take the blame for the loss because of my hatred for mr petrino. Can't stand the man. as a holdover for what he did in Louisville and mostly in Atlanta with the Falcons. By the way, a story from my weekend Allman Brothers/Widespread Panic shows. Amazing how people can get so trashed at a concert...

Friday night right as the Allman Brothers came on there was this guy at the back a section who was out of it. Passed out during the Widespread Panic show on the last row of the lower level.

Security tried to wake him and he wasn't waking up. The place got loud for the music, he wasn't moving. They slapped him in the face several times, shook him, lifted his legs up trying to get him moving and he wouldn't budge...someone noticed while he was out he apparently was having a very good dream or was really enjoying the physical contact he was recieving as he was really happy to be there and everyone around started taking pictures.

They finally got the guy somewhat awake and put him in a wheel chair and when he realized what was going on he untucked his shirt to hid anything that might embarass him.

This guy paid good money to go to a show that he will have no memory of, I never understood that mentality.

ah sweet, glad to see you wtc.

i was getting to the best part though

NUgget-so what is your take on how he game went Saturday?

8:46 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

i got nothing....this is where i get my news as well...here and war blog eagle.

were people jumping ship in here today?

8:47 PM
Blogger wtc said...

You didn't miss much. I think a few don't like mud slinging butliek to sling it themselves or they like to get muddy or mud wrestle I'm not sure. It was sort of like a circular firing squad.

8:48 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

it was hard to watch. we obiviously played like crap and i think the winning got to our heads a little bit, but i thought that EVERYONE play bad and that was the best part....everyone had a down game instead a few this week and still get a loss. then a few next week and risk another loss.

8:49 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

i think it was Jay at track'em tigers that wrote an awesome post today that talked about the best times are ahead of us which i feel as well. we are not near as bad as we played saturday...i know we aren't we are just young and not deep. i am still in love with this team though.

8:50 PM
Blogger wtc said...

Not junping ship just very thin skinned. 1 loss and it was lost because someone didn't wear the same underwear as the previuos weeks and they or some nonsense.
What killsme is that these folks think they know somehting about football, when in all honesty, I am the only on this blog that knows anything about football. The others are just jealous.

8:52 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

i guess everyone just had starts in their eyes and those were shut out saturday....but its one game and we will play another next week. all is not lost.

Blogger Miller said...

Happy Columbus Day folks!
I have celebrated in prime fashion.

I was pissed, and extremely in a bad mood on Saturday. My sincere apologies if I offended those who are easily offended by other's expressed opinions and vented frustrations.
My apologies...

haha...nice...i like it.

i just now i have way too much emotional attachment to Auburn football....but it makes it fun. I love watching those boys play. makes me want to play.

Blogger wtc said...

Jet stated sevreal days ago "we are not and never were going to be a BCS team'. He is dead on.

I want to win and expect to win every game, as I have stated before. But this team, for several reasons, has ZERO depth in certain postions. We have 1 loss. I will take 11-1 at this point.

8:54 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

whats up D....happy C day to you as well.....i got in a terrible mood saturday as well. its hard to watch Auburn lose in that fashion....any fashion really, but we are still 5-1 which is a pretty nice position to be in considering where we were last year.

Excellent story Kathy. Whether it is all true or not, who knows, but it is interesting reading.

8:56 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

D.Miller,

Never appologize if you don't mean it. You can always say you regret that others reacted the way they did.

8:56 PM
Blogger wtc said...

Nugget-I wish I had my years back. i would love to play again. I gave up a scholly at a small college, after 1 year. to walk on at AU and broke a bone in my foot that would not heal right.

I don't get emotional about the game. i want AU to win, but if not, it just wasn't our day. I don;t like being around folks, on game day, that get so worked up the others around them become miserable. i do no tunderstand that.

8:58 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

Agreed Wtc.....the thing is, is we are going in the right direction in hurry. i have full faith in this staff and love the energy they bring. i have no doubt it is but a matter of time. and we are doing pretty well this year.

8:58 PM
Blogger wtc said...

I just do not need my team to win to validate me. And just becasue your team beat mine doesn't make you a better person than me. Thos ethat act like that don't hang with me for long.

8:59 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

By the way, except for Alabama (which I'm not sure anyone is going to beat) the rest of the games on our schedule are very winnable.

I think we go 10-2 or 9-3.

9:00 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

i need to practice your control wtc. though i try not to make others miserable with my malcontent.

9:00 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

i will say one thing though....if arky goes down to the swamp and plays the way they did this weekend against AU...the gators better lock it up...they might find themselves 6-1.

9:01 PM
Blogger Miller said...

I only get that worked up.... if I'm alone, and already in a foul mood.

My apologies are sincere...

9:01 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

RK....i agree they are all winnable.

9:02 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

D.Miller,

I didn't say they weren't, just saying you shouldn't feel the need to give an apology if you don't feel you did anything that deserves one.

9:02 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

Arkansas is going to get smoked this weekend.

9:02 PM
Blogger wtc said...

if you are not onthe radar, they don't talk about you.

If UT was any good this year, do you think they discuss Vandy very much? The other side, not all, thought Chizik would fall fast (5-19 and all) and AU would roll over this year. They are surprised at what has happened so far. I think we can win most of the remaining games. AU prolly learns a lot from this loss. I expect a different style of defense this week.

9:04 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

I'm not sure about Florida's offense. They have no receivers.

That being said, a week ago I didn't think Ark's D could stop us at all.

So who knows?

9:04 PM
Blogger Miller said...

Anywho.... it's time for chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk...
Who wants some?

Sounds good to me.

Blogger AUNugget said...

just in time for half time...good call.

9:06 PM
Blogger wtc said...

Arky is not that good. We made them look good by playing poorly.

Think about it. After the horrid play in the 1st half, AU is close to coming from behind if we don't turn it over and we tackle on the kick coverage. till may not have won, but the score turns out different in my mind.

However, it was a loss and I am looking for the positives to take from it.

9:07 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

AuNugget...

Just calling it like I see it.

UF's defense will be too much.

9:07 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

This is a side thing, but anyone else weirded out by Tebow and Meyer nose to the helmet rub during the game Sat? I don't know why, but it really bothered me.

9:09 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

wtc,

The team didn't quit. They kept fighting in the game and that's something to take away from the game that might not have been there late last year.

This team seems to believe in itself they just did a lot of things you can't do and win on the road. I don't think Saturday's game will change the belief that they have, but I bet it will refocus the team.

9:09 PM
Blogger wtc said...

You can not win with 3 turnovers, 6 penalties for 1st downs, and several 3 and outs.

At one point AU went 3 and out a couple of times in a row and the total time of possession for each series was about 55 seconds.

One series, we recieved the punt, my sister went to get a glass of tea and came straight back and we had already punted to Arky.

9:09 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

cincy...

It was "interesting"....

9:10 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

if if if....i agree we killed any momentum we gained each time. i just think that if ark gets a couple of those explosive plays and converts on them, uf's offense has not been near as explosive as last year. though their defense has not really been a problem. lsu could easily wont that game if they had any offense at all. i just think ark is better than they have been now....at least better than they were against ga and alabama.

9:10 PM
Blogger wtc said...

I agree with you WERK.

9:10 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

As thin as our D is, our best defense is our offense moving the ball and keeping them off the field.

If we have a game with turnovers and a lot of three and outs, then our D gets exposed.

9:11 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

nah fsj i was just messin with you. you are the resident bama fan aren't you?

9:11 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

no offense to zookeeper, the HABOTN Tebow fan.

I am the token Bama fan.

Blogger wtc said...

UF goes undefeated this year and plays in ATL. I feel they will have found what they need by then.

UAT, if they get to ATL, will have a tough game with UF. Tebow will not go quietly into that good night. UAT may win it but as quoted already today, to be theman, you go to beat the man.'

9:14 PM
Blogger AUNugget said...

meyer might not be able to coach after tebow leaves....it just won't be the same....he'll be constantly telling all the players "well, if tim were here, he would give me a foot massage..." it will just get weird.

9:15 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

FSJ,
Chest bumps I can handle, hitting each other on the rear is okay, but Meyer rubbing his nose on Tebow's facemask was just a little much for me. Too close to nuzzling for guys to be doing.
