RK, funny/nice....
Scott, we asked questions.
Scott, everyone that has turned that game on tonight has commented about his girth! Unfortunately, my cable provider doesn't offer that channel.
I'm in Florence, so I see him in the paper weekly at least. I bet he has gained 60 pounds since he was hired.
Good night good people of the HABOTN.
I noticed it in his pictures on the Times Daily's website before the season, but he's eaten more short people since then.
Apparently he likes the restaurants here in Flo-town.
Scott Coats,
I grew up in Florence. Have you lived there long?
I don't remember Flotown being that great for food, but tater tot disagrees.
It's ok. Unless you like chain restaurants. Then it's great.
Doesn't the Shoals area have some good 'cue, and some famous ice cream place?
Night WERK.
I grew up in Florence, too. Nice place, but Idon't regret leaving.
I've lived here 25 of my 35 years.
I left for a while, but family brought me back. It's a great place to raise kids.
I'm sure the good people of Florence don't either PF. Their daughters are safe again.
Do you have a younger brother? Name starts with D?
Boy those stands cleared out fast!
Jet, There are a few good BBQ places. And Trowbridges is about as famous as ice cream gets around here
A cousin. with a D name.
Yeah ... Trowbridge's ... i know many that rave about it.
Is there an area in AL that doesn't have some good 'que?
Heeeeyyyyy.... got any gum?
Ehyou...
Sadly, the Gump area offerings aren't up to snuff.
Strangely enough, I've always thought Montgomery was lacking in good barbecue. There's a few good places, but nothing to make you lose your mind.
I bet there's some rocking BBQ on the southside. I also bet you won't be finding it.
It's a wrap!
UNA 34 Delta State 24
Dang, Terry is a little chunk!
Gadsden ehyou...
Selma...Now Selma has some good barbecue.
Hmmm. Just someone I remember from childhood. Haven't seen or talked to in more than 15 years, though.
Trowbridges. Blast from the past.
Definitely some good 'cue around.
Ha!, J-Z. I didn't learn any of my tricks until I left Flroence.
I've hit every soul food place and shack in South Montgomery... it's just not out there.
I like Mac's Fish Camp in Selma.
The fact is that most of us can cook better que than what you can find at most places.
Thanks for the UNA updates.
Today I ate the last of a shoulder I smoked saturday. I can't disagree with you FSJ.
Scott Coats,
What high school did you go to? And do you have a sister whose name starts with a B?
Laney's on Minter Ave near the Bush Hog plant. The large pork sandwich consists of two slices of white bread on bottom to soak the sauce up, a double handful of chopped pork, a Carolina style red sauce, a slice of freshly fried pork skin, and a slice of white bread on top. Foodgasmic.
Most of the places have gone to these commercial smokers that are powered by electricity or gas. It makes for consistent BBQ...consistently bland BBQ.
I went to Bradshaw. Class of '92. and no, I do not.
Anybody ever had any good bbq in Dillard, GA???
My brother has a shack there. Ribs, brisket, pork, and smoked turkey. His BBQ is awesome....but then I am prejudiced!!!
I went to Bradshaw also, class of 1977. I'm old! I had a friend Becky Coats at Bradshaw. Kind of sad Bradshaw no longer exists.
30 Rock is back on my TiVo!!!
I don't know if I have ever been to Dillard, GA..
If I ever am I'll stop at his place.
Yeah it is. The rock is even gone. It's at the children's museum behind a fence.
FHS has homecoming tomorrow. It just not the same, though.
Missinit ...
Gimme a name ... wife has family not far away, and i'm obligated to one a trip a year.
UNA looks solid nowadays.
SC, You graduated with my older sis in 92.
Who is that, "Big Snacks"?
on HWY 441, a little red shack on the side of the road. Tomlin's BBQ.
He and his wife run it, a two man show.
They are big in KCBS. They are in charge of the Dillard BBQ and Bluegrass Festival held the first weekend of every August. There are usually 90-100 entries from all over.
Missinit ...
Thanks.
HOT PEOPLE ... good night.
I'm a huge fan of bbq brisket. Texas does it the best, but I really need sauce and TX sucks at sauce.
If you are ever in Red Bay, AL, go to Swamp John's Catfish. It is in an old gas station. You can stop by the Coon Dog Cemetery on the way.
Going to call it a night Hotties. Long day at work tomorrow. Good night and War Eagle!
SC,
I went to the last Bradshaw - Coffee football game back in '03 (I think 03) That was a fun rivalry.
Jet...hold up on that carwash!
Since the weather and tourism goes south after October is over, they shut it down for the winter.
They are open the first weekend in May through the last weekend in October.
missinit?
He competes in KCBS?
I do too.

Jennifer was the realtor for the couple that bought our house a year ago.
Yep,Faker
Steve and Jane Tomlin,
I just went braindead but I think they are the Spamshiners or some such.
tomlinbbq.com
SC,
What part of Florence are you in? I grew up in Sherwood Forest. I guess it is still there?
Outstanding..
Those competitions are a bit like a tailgate..
Good folks..and alot of fun.
small world...well, not that small, but is funny for me to be sitting in south florida finding four degrees of separation from some random dude in Alabama...and vice versa.
They called me from Auburn when they competed during that monsoon and tornado. Were you there?
Cincy, We're in Edgemont. Yeah, Sherwood Forest is still there.
Snacks, small world indeed.
That ring is at the bottom of a pretty durn big lake. A 9,000-hectare lake.
"I don't care if it's 90,000."
Faker, what is your team name?
By the way, they have three sauces they sell but Tomlin's Vinegar is to die for, seriously!
My hubby went to Edgemont UMC. We both grew up there. My parents moved to St. Louis and then moved back to the area about 19 years ago. They bought a antebellum home out in Cherokee and ran a Bed & Breakfast for awhile, just off of the Natchez Trace. No longer doing that, but still live there. I bet we know some of the same people.
Awesome. I'm one of the worship leaders at Edgemont UMC's alternative worship (i.e. guitars and drums)
where the heck is Dillard,Ga? I've never found a vinegar sauce I didn't like, so I must have some of this to die for stuff.j
Football is over, my previously recorded episode of 30 Rock has ended, and I've revealed way too much personal info on these interwebs.
I think I'll call it a night.
Snacks,
Dillard is in northeast Ga right before you get to the NC line on US 441.
I sell it for them over here in east Ga but they sell it online too at tomlinbbq.com
It my favorite vinegar sauce ever!
7 games in, and Ovie has 7 goals already....okay, that's all the hockey talk you'll hear from me for awhile.
missinit....
Our team name is Sweet Child O' Swine...
We just started competing this year..
We are hooked.
What Jay is trying to say is that he's bona fide.
Or at least the Later Familius.
Faker,
They started by putting on the festival every year. Think they are working on the 14 or 15th year.
Then got hooked and started judging and now they compete from November thru April.
By the way Faker....love your team name!!!
Ugh, that's Pater. Stupid mobile phone error correction.
thanks missinit..
And our team is a mix of Bama/Auburn guys so we naturally argue over which rib or piece of chicken to turn in.
A trip through the HABOTN is like stepping into a veritable Age of Reason.
Good morning everyone. TGIF and all sorts of other acronyms.
since when did we chnage to the Foodnetork blog? Anybody got a good potato salad recipe?
Good morning, Hotties! On our way to Montgomery for Tom's meeting and then to AUBURN! It is going to be great football weekend!!
Anyone else going to the Homerun Derby tonight? Sounds like fun.
wtc,
I have an awesome potato salad recipe. I buy it at Edgars!
Scarinsky article today says Richt is like Tubbs.
Cincy-how long you in Montgomery today?
Awesome potato salad recipe ...
Cut the mayo base down some, and substitute cottage cheese. Tastes good and is better for you.
Actually I was being sarcastic. I have a great potato salad recipe. It's in the Murano with the other cook books.
Cincy,
I think a lot of locals will be at the Auburn high school game tonight. Undefeated Auburn High vs undefeated Central.
Otherwise, I would like to see the HR Derby.
Perhaps we can play Emeril at linebacker.
BAM!
I wish I knew then waht I know now. I happened to be at the Auburn BBQ competition as a buddy of mine is a judge. Found out though if you're not cooking, it's tough to get a taste. However, we mosied around earlier that night before the rains set in, and got some bacon wrapped scallops that were just unreal!! Didn't expect THAT at a bbq competition.
Thanks for all the barbecue talk gang. War Eagle! Happy Friday!
CincyT ...
You have email.

Enjoy the drive, ScottieB.
I'll be on the board for Tallassee Tigers football tonight.
If you are one of the regular score reporters, hit my up with updates when you can. Thanks.
