EARLY player comments
Hey everyone. A few players stopped by to speak with reporters before practice today. Here are a few "highlights" as they are.

- CB Walt McFadden on his injured knee (not an ankle): ``I'm going to get it cleared up by Wednesday hopefully. I'm trying to run on my own, trying to do a couple of things, but I really don't know what's going to happen."
- McFadden on his teammates mobbing him after making the interception that injured his knee: ``Zac Etheridge, he was hitting me all in the head, saying 'Good interception, good interception.' I was screaming on the ground and he was jumping all over me. I was telling him: 'Back up, back up.' He basically told me to get off the ground -- Don't let them see you hurt. I appreciate everything he had done because I was fixing to lay on that ground awhile."
- OL Ryan Pugh on reasons for Arkansas problems: ``We can make up all the excuses in the world, we just didn't come out and play very well. We didn't prepare ourselves mentally and physically in the week. The coaches gave us a good game plan. We just went out and didn't execute the things that we've been executing all the year."
- On why that happened: ``A lack of focus. I think we let our focus slip a little bit during the week, and we didn't come out and play as good as we wanted to."
- OL Mike Berry on preparations this week: ``I think the mood's been good. The loss was definitely a shock for us, but like Coach Chizik said it can either be the best thing that could happen to us or the worst thing. I feel like it gave us a chance to refocus. I feel like we're preparing hard for Kentucky."

From previous thread "Why is "Muskrat Love" running through my head all of a sudden? Somebody needs to make a Tebow/Meyer video using that song."
A song by Auburn Alum Toni Tennill and her husband, Daryl. Has she been back to campus since she did A-Day in '88 ?
ocho at cinco?
Apparently the coaches gave the players a plan last week, but they failed to work the plan. DWWD.
well on my side of the border...
Chris Todd should have given the Tim Tebow post game interview from last years Florida/Ole Miss game.
That would guarantee that this team wouldn't lose again.
My Gannett.com email is not working and hasn't been working since 9 a.m.
If you messaged me and I haven't responded, don't take offense.
I hereby rename the word "Nimrod" to "Normrod" to more accurately reflect its intended meaning.
Maybe Chiz and AC nuzzled after their meeting. If they did, they are Normrods.
Peter: Why do you keep doing that?
RK, then we would memorialize it with a statue on campus, and 20 years from now people would ask: Who's Chris Todd?
lack of substance...and "Three?" is a funny first post.
For Tebow and Urban, how about mid-1980s schmaltz pop duo "Atlantic Starr" singing one of their hits -- "Secret Lovers" or "Always?"
Has anyone ever seen The Chiz do the safety dance?
triskadeka
Sssss Aaaaa Fffff...
is the world still turning?
We can Chiz if you wanna!
How about Joe Cocker's rendition of "Up Where We Belong" from An Officer and a Gentleman for Tebow and Meyer with Tebow as the officer carrying Meyer in his arms?
Gannett needs to get their act together.
Focus. Refocus. Lack of focus. Focus. Focus.
hocus pocus give us focus
Ford Focus
eww harrison
JayGT - I've got a lot of catching up to do. Re: your excellent transition from rollerblades to ice skates...Congrats! Sometimes I think I was born on rollerblades or snow skis, but it most assuredly did not transfer to ice skates. I could never get that hockey stop. Speaking of hockey, how 'bout them Pens last night! THTjr and I will go see them tomorrow night in Raleigh
You know what Puppet Hour needs? Some more FOCUS! I suggest we all just
Any form of skating/skiing has always been my strong point. I'm not so graceful on feet, but put me on inline/ice skates and I am somehow a whole lot less clumsy. Doesn't make any sense.
I bet Jay has some of those shoes with the wheels in the bottom. that's how he's so good at those sports
Michalea, that's a brilliant post right there.
the hardest part of rollerblading?
I'd wear some of those wheelie shoes on occasion if they were in my size.
I know someone who has a kid whose shoes sqeak every time she walks. My wife thinks it's really cute, but I think it is annoying. Do you think Jay has those shoes too?
Also, starting now, I am not going to use a "u" after a "q". Whose idea was it anyway to handcuff q with u? What's up with that? Free your minds, do away with u!
they do. I've seen them up to size 13
Focus? Boffus?
I'm a 15EE.
I have big hands, too.
I actually tried to find those shoes in my seize that have the wheels. As of about 8 years ago, they didn't make them.
They do still sell adult velcro shoes at Walmart, though. And yes I have bought them before. No strings attached! (ba dum, chee!)
Michael. Will's (of former habotn fame)daughter has those shoes. they are hilarious to make her put them on and then leave Will's house
"Adult velcro shoes" sounds dirty.
Jay G - you seem well endowed. With big hands and feet, that is. You know.
speaking of "adult" stuff. Auburn got one of those "love stuff' stores, and everyone is freaking out
This comment has been removed by the author.
my brother buys one of those little kids halloween outfits at wal-mart every year and squeezes into it (he's not that big). The cookie monster year was the best
15EE? Geeaze. Sasquatch sans the hair.
I can't imagine if my kids had those shoes, Harrison. sqeak, sqeak, sqeak... on and on and on and on... it's more maddening that trying to enunciate one of my gibberish posts.
Thank you IV. I was wondering if anyonw thought that too.
Does your brother also hide in the bushes at the park, Harrison? You might want to check that out.
I'm way behind on the blogs...
Re: someone saying Lebo gone after this season if there is no post-season...
I can't imagine they won't give Lebo at least one year in the new arena. They pretty much promised it to him within 4 years of his arrival, so they are only about 4 years behind schedule. I don't know if he can't recruit period, or if he just can't recruit to the crappy facilities we still have for bball.
Paul, telling your parents your gay?
Sure, he can ice skate and aspires to be the national spokesperson for Heelies®©™, but JayGT has NEVER watched an episode of Seinfeld.
Color me disillusioned.
I have always said sasqatch without the hair really isn't sasqatch at all if you ask me. I am glad that statement can now actually be fit into conversation and not just said as a non seqitor.
If there was a disillusioned colored crayon, I'll bet it would be a hazy turquoise color.
I don't know about the hair, but sasqatch surely isn't sasquatch without the u
THT, are you looking for a job? Because there might be an opening in my herd of SHEEP!
Free yourself! Drop the u!
Thanks, Michael. I was just pondering the tone of a disillusioned crayon. Google was no help. You are smarter than Google.
This comment has been removed by the author.
As long as the disillusioned crayon isn't midnight blue. That would crush me.
Google is a lot of things, but it is useless when trying to assign a color to an abstract thought or mood.
I am sure they are thinking of a new application that does such a thing, though.
I named by bald German Shepherd Sasquatch Sans Hair - it sounded very German. But when it grew back he just didn't look like a Sasquatch anymore. So, I named him "LORD" and introduced him as "the Lord is my Shepherd."
Commendator,
I agree. I can't believe someone with his pop-culture savvy wouldn't have seen the best sitcom of our time.
Cincy ...
I love Midnight Blue ... I'm thinking the disillusioned crayon is Magenta.
Magenta? Like the RHPS character? Maybe.
magenta would certainly disillusion me.
Midnight blue would make me not so blue!
i ate a green crayon at my buddy's wedding last year for a free beer
My 9 month old son eats crayons all the time. I guess he thinks he is getting free breast milk out of it or something.
Fuchsia is also disillusioning. But I guess the greatest disillusion comes with cr****n
Peter BSF: Next thing you know, he'll tell us he finds Something About Mary or Raising Arizona "distasteful and pedestrian" [sobbing]
Michael's son has rainbow poos
Harrison, that quote just became our featured quote. Congrats.
Disillusioned with what, THT? What is cr***n? Crackerson? You talkin bout bout Jeffrey Crackerson, the greatest puppet hunter Australia ever produced!? You are disillusioned with him?!!
I have been on here for a while now and never had a front page quote. Today just got lots better
I have seen Seinfeld. I know the characters and all. I don't think I've watched a single episode from beginning to end.
I was watching other stuff, I guess.
THT - even crayons come out brown. The body is an amazing thing.
MJT out. DWWD
not true Michael. there were definitely green specks in the aftermath
Harrison, your quote tells a simple fable about a young man and his love for beer (and wax by proxy) and how the lust for wealth sometimes elicits such surprising excesses.
... and does it all in one sentence.
That's true literary perfection.
I think me and harrison may have been at the same wedding.
Congratulations, Harrison. You should be very proud.
I'm so glad to hear there are other midnight blue lovers on the blog.
wow, you read a lot into my poop and beer sentence, but thank you. Thank you all!
Midnight Blue has its own 80s song, too.
Maybe a disillusioned colored crayon is the same as a horse of a different color.
Harrison...
so, did you choose green, was green forced upon you, or was green the only crayon available? I'd probably eat a blue crayon for a Diet Coke, but not a green one. I have standards to which I must adhere.
my brother handed me the green crayon and said he'd buy me a beer if i ate it, so i did. The only person that didn't like it was my wife, who thinks I'm an idiot anyway
Harrison, got my HABOTN laugh for the day out of the green crayon eating!
API, don't be stealing my "Muskrat Love" idea. I actually went and listened to the song on YouTube and cracked up thinking about Tebow and Meyer.
By the way, Toni Tennille went to one of my dad's fraternity formals when she was at AU.
I watched a few Seinfeld episodes. You didn't miss anything. It wasn't funny, just stupid.
Just what color is a horse of a different color?
I also think that it was neither the chicken nor the egg that came first, it was the rooster.
I agree NoVa, Seinfeld just wasn't that great. For good humor, I suggest Andy Griffith Show, Leave it to Beaver, and Frasier.
Oh yeah...a bit of trivia:
Tennille was pronounced ten-ull back when she was at AU. Not sure when it became tuh-neel.
Not to mention MASH.
BEASLEY!!!
early MASH, especially with McLean Stevenson
I don't attend weddings without open bars. It keeps me from eating crayons.
way to be there THT. i had your back this morning.
DWWD!
Seinfeld was funny. Freaking geezers.
Seinfeld had great episodes, but imo it was not consistently great.
A story will run in the Advertiser later this week discussing Mark Ingram as a Heisman candidate. I hope you enjoy that as much as I will.
No punchline. Just letting you know.
You'd get along with my dad THT, has seen every episode of Andy Griffith at least 50 times, and I'm not exaggerating in any way.
Green would definitely be a different color for a horse, unless you're from the Emerald City.
I'm gonna write a letter to the editor about the Bammer bias if that actually makes it into print.
And her family, who owned a furniture store in the Gump , continued to use the first pronunciation. And her mother was Cathryn Grayson on a WSFA afternoon talk show. I think the change in pronunciation came about because the second pronunciation flowed better with"The Captain" part. This makes no sense and if I had any sense, I would delete this post.
No. 4 rusher in the league.
I'm a Heisman voter and I can assure you Mark Ingram is not on my watch list. Or my hear list. Or any list.
Really? Fourth in the league?
The green crayons aren't ripe yet.
Is Ryan Mallett on your hear list?
Long article by Fortune Mag on our friend Mr. Lowder. I wonder if the usual suspects on here that carefully defend him will repeat the same old cliche's Like: "nothing I haven't heard before", "Just a bunch of rumors", etc.
Here's the linkage:http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/09/news/companies/bobby_lowder.fortune/?postversion=2009101209
Boy, I'm glad my earlier complaining about Ingram being a candidate was able to secure an article in the MA. I hope everybody writes in and reminds them that Tate beats him in almost every category.
There aren't taste or smell lists, are there?
Maybe Mark Ingram is on the watch list on the same merits that Obama won the Noble Peace prize, not what he is done but what he may do.
JayG or Ben? Or both?
is = has
i think THT's 5:06 is worthy of the front page. no offense Harrison. *insert fist bump here*
Both Tates beat Mark Ingram, hands down.
works for me....
TATE for Heisman. pick one. ;)
Thanks ScottieB for giving honor to the Greatest Reciever in Auburn History this morning!!!
I am hoping the team takes this loss as a positive. I don't think anyone believe we would have gone undefeated, but we will have a chance in the rest of our games. It will be good to see Auburn make a new years day bowl, or at least eve.
How do the number of Tate's turnovers compare with Ingram's? Who has contributed the most on special teams?
Hoops,
not a Lowder defender, per se, but is there actually anything new in that article?
i never want to steal your thunder THT, but i don't want the 'human deer' to be forgotten. ;)
it's just good lookin' out yo.
Well, I guess the "writer" of the Ingram article subscribes to the same criteria used by the Nobel Prize committee. i.e., well...it could happen...maybe...someday
Steve's Fraudulent Calls,
WTH, man? Rippin on Tate to build up a Bammer?
i think i read an article today that said Ingram had ZERO turnovers.
not too shabby.
Keep up the good work ScottieB - I'll be at Toyota, or at an accountant's office, or in a dentist chair at the appointed time tomorrow.
Steve, how many Heisman voters do you think actually look at those types of statistics?
JGT, how many Heisman voters do you think actually look at those types of statistics?
I will enjoy the Ingram article Jay...
Unless Ingram reveals himself to be a virgin or born of one and has the ability to feed a Red Elephant Club meeting with a single Dreamland Rib and a six-pack of Milwaukee's Best, I don't see him in the Heisman discussion.
But what do I know, I'm just an occasional Lowder defender who's seen it all before.
You would FSJ you Bammer. Are you Sensi in disguise?
of course FSJ has to show up when someone mention Heimsan & Bama in the same sentence....
i keed. much love homey.
FSJ - I ate so much barbecue on Friday and Saturday (lunch, lunch & supper) that I may not eat it again until next Saturday.
Heisman and Bama in the same sentence is a rarity.
IV, it's an impossibility.
Of course, said sentence has never emanated from the Downtown Athletic Club.
THT reminded me. i must come clean. i have yet to take my blame for the Arky loss. i was so excited for my breakfast of pancakes & bacon but i overslept and by the time i had gotten back from the store the wife had already eaten.
my fault. i am soooooooo sorry.
I hate being on Sev 1 system outage calls at 5:49 in the afternoon.
FSJ, I know the feeling.
I didn't rip on anyone. That would be childish. I just asked some questions. It would never stoop so low as to do that or childish name calling.
As for Jay's 15EE feet, I don't think that is surprising. It is the fact that he is only 5 feet tall with 15EE feet that is remarkable.
ScottieB is not to blame. I'm sure he's missed breakfast before and AU won.
Only I have a perfect record of causing AU to stumble when I attend a map/history meeting during an AU football game.
Steve, I'm like Ronald McDonald with the boat shoes.
It was funny that the AFLAC question for the Ole Miss Bama game was about the Heisman thing.
Hahaha, thanks for helping me spread my rumors:)
MrsTHT is hosting a meeting tonight. I'm soliciting ideas on how to get all those women downstairs to leave. I'm ready to go eat the dessert leftovers and get another DC.
I have to take my share of the blame as well. I missed the first half and part of the 3rd qtr as I was at a water park with my daughters.
Tell ya what..I'll take the blame for Auburn's loss this weekend..I'm sure I did something that didn't help.
And after begging forgiveness, I must take my leave for the evening. I'm off to a Marine Archeology meeting in a few minutes.
I notice that Tate and FAH have the two longest runs among the rushing leaders. Also, if Caudle was in the list, his 52 yard run would come in 4th.
oh heavens... another one just ARRIVED. I thought it was almost OVER.
FSJ - that's pretty Auburny of you!
E-Bro...
Sensi and I are not the same person. He's too optimistic in his predictions for my taste..
:-)
PF...I read a few stories in there that I had never known before and got a good update on the current criminal investigation issues.
I know of a bunch of stuff since 2003 that ain't in there or that has ever been in print for that matter.
I'm sure Forbes won't have to worry about a libel suit with this article.
Just don't understand how some AU folks can know all of this and still give Lowder a pass. Are they beholden to him? ..afraid because of their political or business situation?... embarrassed that they were duped?.. just won't admit that they are OK taking that devil's money and that the money trumps anything else done to AU? ...or have no pride and don't care about silly stuff like this?
It must still be dicey for the in-state press to publish in-depth stories and details. I find much more printed on this from out of the State of Alabama than in state.
THT..
I must say that being called Auburny is a first for me..
Have all Auburn beat writers been sworn to silence on the Byrum injury?? This question has been asked several times and so far mum is the word.
JGT could you fill me in on this?
I, for one, have no problem taking the devil's money...or anyone else's money for that matter. It spends the same, irregardless (which is a dumb, controversial word, but I'm gonna use it anyway) of the source.
FSJ - not sure how you took it, but it was obviously intended to be complimentary ;-)
JGT is on a boat!...shoe.
THT.....I took it to be a good thing.
Now if y'all could just teach me the Auburn Creed, fight song, and Alma Mater...
Repeat after me -
On the rolling plains of Dixie,
'neath the sun kissed sky,
proudly stands our alma mater,
banners high...
there you go, you're off to a good start, FSJ!
FSJ meet me at the Fuzzy Duck and I will teach them to you.
O wait a minute the Fuzzy Duck closed.
Big Snacks,
I've heard about you and taking money.
("banners high" replaced "A P I" in the alma mater when the name was officially changed to AU)
digger...
The Fuzzy Duck...now you are going old school on me..
Last time I was in the old Fuzzy Duck I saw .38 Special.
Lowder for President!
Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman) will be playing at Momma G's next week for all that are in the Auburn area.
Michael is joking.
I thought Lowder was president?
At the Fuzzy Duck you could see any thing and every thing. Talk about some war stories there are thousands.
I need someone to follow me around and tell when I am joking...
I nominate Salsa Shark for that task.
digger,
Between the Fuzzy Duck and the Oasis on the Drive......now those were two "interesting" places.
But seriously, I am in PF's camp. Thanks for the money, ole Bobby boy!
And I still sing it as API. No wait, I can't sing.
You couldm't move or hardly breath at the Oasis. Packed full on Friday and Saturday nights.
All Alma Maters sound like the Kellerman's song on Dirty Dancing.
OK, time to be controversial.
I dislike the Auburn Alma Mater. It puts me to sleep and does not move me in any way.
There, I said it.
Money, money, money, PF, Michael and I think alike.
Of course I have to think like Michael, or he will call me Tim.
Kristina, Is Michael kidding?
Where is Kristina when we need her?
Zookeeper fails us again.
Maybe the zoo animals are restless again.
Joking about Lowder a little bit (though I really am glad he gave all that money, because they built a lot of buildings with it. I don't think Auburn would be where it is today without him. But yeah, he is evil).
Not joking about the alma mater... sorry fellas.
Michael - doesn't move you at all!?!? You might as well put the houndstooth hat back on your messed up head.
I am only required by contract to say when he is kidding. I am not required in anyway to infer whether he is serious only in that I do not reply that he is kidding.
Kristina, Is Michael joking?
Can you say that in English zookeeper?
And that is the letter of the law and she's sticking to it
Michael, Is Kristina kidding?
digger...
Did you ever go to the Jungle when it was open?
I think the same guy owned it that owned the Oasis.
well, I'm serious. I'm going downstairs and eat up all the dessert leftovers. They've had plenty of time to get whatever they wanted.
WARRRRRRR EAGLE!!!!
Thread killer.
One time in the student section, someone yelled at me to take my hat off during the alma mater. I readjusted my hat, leaving it on, and gave the guy a thumbs up and a big smile.
Sorry gang. But hey, we can all agree on puppets, right?
FSJ
No I never made the Jungle. My favorite watering hole was Top of the River before they closed the bar area to make more room for Diners.
digger,
That was a terrible terrible move on their part.
FSJ
It broke my heart along with about 10 other Mid-South employees.
IV out for awhile. Got my high school class chat session coming up in a bit. Can you imagine what a bunch of 70 year olds gab about? I mean those of us that are left that don't fall asleep in front of our computers. Be glad you are not subjected to that.
I can never not be on the HABOTN again. I miss too much. Sux that the HABOTN is banned at work.
I quit my job today.

I have never been big on sports media being biased but I just watched abc 33/40 sports. Man raita used the A.C. comments like this team was falling apart. Mentioned how dissatisfied Alabama was with the NCAA. Didn't mentioned the harsh comments ncaa made about Alabama. I am starting to see just how biased this state really can be.
tigerFan
and the beat goes on, been they way since the beginning of time
Kristeenuh, is AU1N04 kidding? Did you quit on account of HABOTN? If so, props!
I thought our contract had an exclusivity clause. I will not be telling when other people are joking for no compensation. Sheesh.
Michael - Don't ask me about my business!!
Woo Hoo, I got to use the line on Michael.
And no, I didn't.
Just a reminder, Auburn Football Insider Podcast with Sensi, E-Bro and Myself will go live tonight from 8-9PM CST at the link below:

Toni Tennille also did some back up work on Pink Floyd's The Wall. Muskrat Love is considered by most (namely me) to be the low point in her career.
I think Norm would agree.
I'll give someone else the flip honor. Do us proud.
