Your late update, 11/8
Hey everyone. Several players made their way to the Rane Room this evening to discuss football and other items of interest this evening.
Let's summarize.
Questions? Comments? Post directly to the blog below or email me at jgtate@gannett.com.
Let's summarize.
- Auburn apparently will make a change at punt returner this weekend. Freshman Anthony Gulley, who was fired from the gig earlier this season, was fielding punts Sunday along with junior Demond Washington. That could be curtains for Philip Pierre-Louis, who had two negative returns and a fumble against Furman.
- WR Darvin Adams (right) grew up in Mississippi, but played high-school ball in Marietta, Ga. He garnered some recruiting interest from Georgia, but let's say it wasn't exactly reciprocated.
``I'm not too much of a Georgia fan. I really didn't like Georgia. I think every letter I got from Georgia, I don't think I even read it. I guess it was because being in Georgia, everybody was a Georgia fan. I like being an underdog." - Defensive coordinator Ted Roof said he played 31 guys on defense against Furman. That included some guys who, um, maybe weren't made to play defense.
``Some guys that were wide receivers, some guys that were scout team offensive tackles, offensive guards, jumped out there and got some reps for us. But what I saw is I saw us play very well as a first group, and then get the game where we need to get it." - Roof on how he coached guys who didn't play defense: ``We were doing some old-time country coaching."
- I sometimes throw out long-shot questions hoping for nuggets. I caught one Sunday night after asking tailback Ben Tate how he sells Auburn to recruits.
``It's easy to sell now. It's pretty easy to sell this year. I just be real with the guys. I let them know how things are going to be. Either they like it or they don't. I try to say the right things, but sometimes I don't know what that is. When you go to see Coach Yox, it's not going to be fun. I'm telling you that right now. You're going to work. If you want to be good and you want to work, that won't bother you." - You've seen Mario Fannin getting more carries these days after spending the first seven games as a receiver. He's willing to do what is asked of him, but it's clear that Fannin's career goals don't involve him lining up at tailback all the time.
``Being able to show that versatility, I've been told helps out in the long run. Being able to play both (positions) is great for me."

I love 'cue!!!
Cue with Gravy?
Be cruel to the Dogs.
I love me some Darvin Adams and some "old-time country coaching".
Great update, JGT. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gotta git back to work. Later, Hotties!
oh yeah, I could definitely eat 'cue with gravy. But probably not chocolate gravy.
I'm a big fan of the late updates.
Good BBQ doesn't need sauce...or gravy.
What exactly is country coaching?
The opposite of city coaching?
Probably meant alot of coaching on the fly...not too much emphasis on technique. More on assignment...stuff like that I guess.
mmmmm
latenight AU nuggets to snack on.
i always gotta test the first rib to make sure it stands alone. then the sauce is optional.
Country coachin' is an overweight assistant coach wearing a shirt stained with tobacco spit, and sporting a farmer's tan puttin' the boys through Oklahoma drills until they are dizzy. He growls through clenched teeth digging into a metal whistle, sayin' that dreadful word.
"Agin."
good idea chip...
Many places sauce their BBQ to death to keep u from noticing it has been sitting for a month.
So Jet..
You just described Gadsden's head coach.
Does anyone know where I can find a picture of Luper leading out the team with the flag?
To me all of the good BBQ'a are on the same plateau.
Scott's Walkup BBQ in Cartersville, Ga. is on that plateau. Moist, not too smoky and has a choice of 6 different sauces that the customer applies. Very nice stew also.
Our annual AU-UGA pig roast is fully scheduled. We pick up the 100# pig on Friday morning and head to Lake Lanier to prepare the cabin and play golf. After playing poker, smoking cigars and drinking moonshine, we start the pig at 2am and will be ready to serve arond 30 folks on Sat at 4 pm. The AU-UGA game starts at 7 pm.
We really need to stomp a mudhole in the dawgs this year.
My Dad does great BBQ. Practically another food group. He just built a BBQ pit in the backyard. He hoped to have it ready to go for UGA, but its debut is gonna have to wait a week. So it goes.
Tell me more about the pit E-Bro.
Pictures would be good to if you have them.
As the self-appointed important person around here, I hereby appoint Eddie and Hoopie as co-chairs of the Beat the Crap out of Jawja Committee.
I also appoint Ehyou to this committee. If Norm is fully healed, then he is also appointed.
As they live with these four-legged creeping things all year round, they are especially qualified for this effort. Any who are willing to join their effort, please email them at their respective addresses:
eduardo@disneygoodbamaugabad.com
hoopie@speculationconsternation.com
Thank you that is all.
And good night. Beat Georgia ... like we did in 1971, 1977, 1979, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1991, 2001, and 2005.
FSJ...
I'm not a BBQ savant (yet), but I'll get back to you with better specifics later on. It's your basic brick BBQ pit. I'll see if I can come up with some pictures later for you as well. Maybe my bro Eddie has some on his facebook page.
I know this...it's a beaut, and I'm ready to get it fired up. Missing a door to the top and the bottom that was specially weld together by some of my Dad's co-workers, then it's ready to go.
We'll have to name it appropriately at some point.
Sorry, I meant to say I'm not a BBQ PIT savant. As for BBQ, like any good Southerner, I love it and would gladly eat it every day.
With the pit now installed in the backyard, I hope to have pops pass on his secrets of the trade.
Thanks for the updates JGT. Especially liked Benjamin Franklin Tate III's speaking the truth to 'croots, and finding out that we really DID empty the benches on defense yesterday.
As for barbecue, I cooked me up some ribs tonite - as I thought about having to prepare for a freakin' hurricane in freakin' November.
See you HOTTIEs on the other side, prolly Thursday or so.
'Til then: KEEP HATE ALIVE!!!
Twenty five
Since Georgia does not field a defense, does the quick pace work anyway. I mean if there is no one out there to defense you, does it matter that you blitzkrieg them.
Auburn may score 100 on that D.
Hmmm, sounds like Darvin Adams should have signed with Furman. Not reading those letters makes me think the guy isn't too bright.
Good Morning, Hotties. Countdown to UGA!
Kathy,
Regarding the Luper pic: Go to the link below and then scroll down to Flickr Fan Photos. It's the first one. You can't really seem him very well, though.
Luper and American Flag
Good morning HABOTN,
This week we take the show back on the road hoping to even out the road record at 2-2.
WERK, realistically speaking, how does AU match up with UGA?
Just looked at the line this morning AU - UGA. The 'Dogs opened as a 4 point favorite and it quickly dropped to 3. 4 point favorite??? You got to be kidding?!?!
Maybe I'm looking through AU colored glasses but their D stinks and their O ain't much better. Pick'em or AU favored by 1 was what I was thinking....
Hmmmm...I just tried my link and it didn't work.
Kathy,
Go to NBC13.com, then roll your mouse over Sports and you will get a drop down box. Click on AUBURNchannel and then go to Flickr Fan Photos.
Luv,
I think we match up very well vs UGA. Their D isn't that good at all so if our offense is on just a little we should be able to put up points.
I think our starting D has played a lot better in the last few weeks and if that continues it would bode well for us this weekend. We need Carter and Coleman to keep the heat on Cox and force him into mistakes.
WERK, thanks!
Thanks Luv, I'll check it out when I get to work!
Happy Monday Hotties, 5 days to the Georgia Bulldog beat down!!! This will be my first trip to Athens. Hope it's a good one.
1. Coastal HOTTIES, batten down.
2. Today is the first week of Be Cruel to Mangy Mutts from the Peach State Week.
3. I wonder what uniform change the Mutts will have this week. Black shirts? Red Pants? Silver helmets?
4. I wonder that if when Richt sees the chiseled chin of the Chiz he'll think it's Meyer and wet himself.
5. Go get 'em, HOT ONES.
As far as country coaching goes I believe the phrase "gowongedinneh" must be used several times as well.
Jet- I'll be happy to co-chair that leghumper hate committee. I can't stand those sad excuses of a pet.
FSJ- I don't have pictures of my Dad's pit yet, but trust me, it was done right. I believe it's a 3'x5'open pit space with heat lined by heat brick underneath and enclosed by 8" CMU block. He has a specially designed roof and door that will allow to control the temp the way he wants it along with metal grating to serve as the grill. For appearances, he had brick matching the house put all around the CMU block, so this thing looks great. My Dad knows great BBQ and I cannot wait to get this thing fired up. Great BBQ runs in our family, but E-Bro and myself are just learning the secrets.
BTW- I HATE GEORGIA!
Just checking to see if there's going to be a hottie gathering in Athens. The son goes to school there so we're going up for the tailgate.
Jet- Rumor is that UGA will show up in all white and waiving a white flag this week. I say show no mercy!
mytommy- Wife, myself and maybe Sensi will all be riding to the game to get their early enough to do some tailgating. I know Kathy and Luv are coming. I even think Scottie B is coming. There should be enough people to get a tailgate together. That would be fun no doubt.
This week Georgia goes all red in hopes of blinding our Tigers with the hideousness of it all. No black, no silver. All red.
Can't wait to see all of you there. I think we're going to be at the Kappa Sigma house. I'll be the Auburn guy there.
HOTTIE HOOOOOOOO!!!!
Kill the dawgs!
It's been a long time since I've been to Athens, wish I could join everyone down there.
Hopefully we'll get win # 8 and get healthy for the Iron Bowl.
RK- Come down, tailgate and find a cheap ticket outside.
Frankenbummer is also very interested in a Hottie gathering in Athens.
Scottie? Kathy? Luv?
WTC- You mentioned Cotton Bowl last night and I would be shocked if we got that invite. I just think the folks at the Cotton Bowl don't think to kindly of us being in that game. I would expect to see them try and negotiate a switch with the Outback Bowl before selecting us. I could be wrong, but that's my thought.
Peter- You don't want to hang with me :(!
I have no problems going to Florida in January. Just sayin.
I wonder how LSU attended the Capital One Bowl in the past? It would be a super long stretch, but if we beat Georgia and play well against bama (Win or Lose) the Capital One Bowl could bypass LSU for us. I know we have been a good draw for that bowl game in the past. I was wondering what LSU's history was with that game? I know the Cotton Bowl would be jumping for joy to get LSU in Dallas.
I'm with Eddie, I see the Cotton Bowl avoiding us.
Eddie,
Where you gonna be? What time you setting up? What should I bring/ help with?
I'll be there pretty early, and have obligations throughout the day (including some during the game- grrrrr), but would love to be a part of a hottie tailgate. I will introduce myself as that guy from the internets.
Jet, can I get on that committee for this week? Sleeping in different rooms and fighting over what color collar the dog is wearing has commenced.
Peter- Absolutely, everything is TBD later at this point.
I may have an opportunity to make the UGA game - A good friend may have an extra ticket and has offered it to me PLUS a ride to and from the game....... Hard to pass that offer up!!
Here's hopin' the game turns out better for the Tigers than my last UGA/AU game - that would be 1996.....
Loganville,
Maybe you should just stay at home if that was the last game you went to. You could be bad luck.
Morning folks.
Snacks,
You have my proxy.
Nah, Loganville should go. We lost that game at home and we had it won until Charles Dorsey decided to throw the ball out of bounds after he sacked the QB with less than 10 seconds to go and Georgia had no timeouts. When Dorsey threw the ball out of bounds celebrating the Refs stopped the clock because they didn't have a ball to spot which allowed Georgia to spike the ball with 1 second remaining before hitting the miracle TD pass and sending the game to overtime. I remember I was on the sidelines putting up the headphones when Dorsey did that. That game still hurts because we should have never gone to OT and won it out right.
If the Leg Humpers show up in white, I think we owe to them to restore them to their natural red ... WITH THEIR BLOOD!
Jay G ...
Can you confirm the rumor that New Mexico soccer player Elizabeth Lambert will be backing up Eltoro at LB on Saturday?
I'm just picking on Loganville.
Eddie,
How many TD's did Robert Edwards have in that game? It seemed like he spent the whole game in the endzone.
Eddie ...
That was one of the worst brain farts I've ever seen in the history of Auburn football.
Maybe the worst ... that and the clufu on the goal line vs. UAT in 1984.
SCOTTIE B WILL BE IN ATHENS!!!!!
I was at that game too Jet.....
Wow... I may be bad luck....
RK- Edwards spend the 2nd half in the endzone. We had a big lead if I recall, something like 28-7. That was the infamous UGA biting Baker incident...I'm convinced that UGA performs as a narcotics dog out of season and that is the reason for that incident.
Jet- Agreed. Worst in my lifetime of me watching and understanding whats going on.
Morning to the Hotties. Eddie, I think the only way we get the Capital One Bowl is to win both of our games and have LSU lose another one. If choosing between a 9-3 AU and a 9-3 LSU, they might rather have us, and LSU would probably rather go to Dallas anyway and play in the new stadium.
Eddie,
I thought it was Marcus Washington with the sack toward the end of regulation?
We had a 28-14 lead at the half then didn't score the whole second half.
I have long believed that UGA was a drug dog due to his attack on Robert Baker.
Eddie ...
That game confirmed to me that Bowden had caused us to lose our identity as a team that could run the football.
No matter how much you "pitch the ball around the lot," as the Head Ball Coach would say, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RUN THE FOOTBALL.
Jet,
Best I can remember about the UGA game in 1996 we ran the ball pretty well. However I think that was the rare game that we did.
I think with the rotating cast of Williams, Cooper, Beasley along with Craig had 250 or so rushing that day, but couldn't finish a drive at all.
Coosa- Agreed.
RK- You are probably right, I just remember Dorsey throwing the ball out of bound and thinking WTF is he doing.
Jet- You are correct. We could not run the ball and never ran the ball while I was there with any real success except maybe in a few games.
RK ...
We couldn't run it a lick in the second half ... just like in 2002.
Apparently Dorsey had many of those moments in his life.
The main memories I have of the 1996 UGA game were:
Robert Edwards having a huge game against us running and receiving.
Dorsey's mistake.
Us moving the ball well all game, but leaving a ton of points on the board because we couldn't finish and we couldn't run the clock fast enough to end the game.
Jet,
I agree, that 4th quarter almost mirrors the 4th quarter in 2002.
Dorsey could lay down the smack talk. I remember one day in practice he was taunting Jeno James (Jeno is one of the most quiet guys on the field and nicest off the field) and Jeno snapped and beat the crap out of Dorsey in a practice. They had to pull Jeno off of him. I had never seen Jeno like that. I loved it honestly.
Dorsey caused me to get chewed out by line coach Pete Jenkins. one day at practice Dorsey asks for a towel to wipe his head off in the middle of a drill. i give it to him and then Coach Jenkins goes off on me for giving it to him. he never says a word to Charles. the rest of the line just looks at me. it was a huge WTF moment for me in '97.
Scottie- LOL, that's so Jenkins there. Jenkin's used to tell me to wear a helmet in OL vs DL drill where I got the lucky job of playing the QB. Let's see, in that drill I had my shirt ripped off, almost tore my knee up badly, hit several times but it was fun. Eventually I decided to run instead of stand there like the statue of Liberty. One day Dorsey is chasing after me and I started running and threw the ball to Jenkins. Everyone started laughing. I do like Jenkins and sorry that you caught his wrath, but his players seemed to do no wrong.
yeah, i was totally shocked. i was pretty shy back in the day and it scared the crap out of me. :)
i still don't know why they called Dorsey Ooh-La. do you?
Andy Bitter on the 2007 Soulja Boy/Blackout game in Athens:
Also, does it not seem like that song came out 10 years ago. Really, two? That's it? It has not aged well.
Ha.
PF, just 'Superman that hooooooo'.
Consider that season when Mark Richt jumped the shark.
Jawja football hasn't aged well since.
I hate the 2007 game vs UGA.
We had a 20-17 lead midway through the 3rd quarter and we had stopped Moreno the whole game, then something snapped at that point and we couldn't stop anyone and Cox started throwing to the wrong team.
The last 18 mins of that game were a complete breakdown.
The black jersey thing was a non-issue.
Scottie- Ooh-La was there before I got there so I'm not sure where that nick name came from.
As far as nick names, Rodney Allison (biggest jerk coach i've ever seen) named Markeith Cooper the Lizard and Cooper hated it.
Rk- Agree with 2007. We had everything working for us early in the 3rd quarter and you actually felt like Auburn may when the game going away and then we just stopped playing and it went from that feeling to getting blown out in a matter of like 5 to 6 minutes of the game. That game still blows.

UGA fans are the least loyal in the SEC. It seems that 90% of the fan base is loud and boisterous when winning ....and whiny, moaning and then disappearing/won't discuss it when losing. To no one's surprise on the HABOTN, I personally have little respect for those type fans.
CMR has brought this on himself....the total lack of accountability/discipline off the field has fully manifested itself on the field. Similar to Tubs, his loyalty to under-performing assistants may do him in.
I left the game early, walked back to the hotel, grabbed one of those $5 Domino's pizzas they sell at random tables near the stadium and sat and ate my pizza on a bench, waiting until someone with a room key could come let me in. It was a miserable night for me.
I thank after UGA took the lead 24-20 Brandon had interceptions to end 3 of the next 4 drives.
Amazing he had 8 interceptions in 2 games vs UGA after having a great game in his first UGA game.
I agree with Hoopie on why Mark Richt is in the situation he is in. You could see this coming. I was giddy when Georgia kept Martinez last season.
Drove from the Gump to Athens early on the a.m. of the 2007 game ... hooked up with some buds ... and drove back alone after the game.
I saw a friend at the concession stand at half, and said I think we're gonna win this game. When we took the lead, I knew we were.
Then the flood gates opened. I got a case of red @$$ about the Leghumpers, and I want us to hand their head to 'em Saturday.
We aren't going to have the same officiating crew for the Iron Bowl that was at UAT this past weekend, are we? We had them for the UK game and the LSU game two years ago.
Jet, that sounds like a great idea to me!
Bruce Feldman of ESPN.com projects the good guys to play Iowa in the Capital One Bowl.
I'm sorry, but that would be deleesh.
Jay G could flip the coin in pregame.
Jet, what do you find so intriguing about that matchup?
The incredible advancements in technology have made scouting that much more precise.
As a result, teams have a good bead on what opposing teams are trying to do and when they will try it.
That's why sticking with coordinators too long can be dangerous. It doesn't mean these guys are bad coaches. It just means you have to keep things fresh.
Only one coach I know of has no tendencies. That's Ed Henry, and we won't be seeing him until the state championship game.
Luv ...
During your hiatus, the people from CornVegas were writing many ugly emails to Jay G for disrespecting their team in the AP poll.
OIC. I think Jay G would find tossing the coin equally as deleesh.
Sadly we are now last in the SEC in scoring D at 26.6 per game.
"gowongedinneh"
Can someone please decipher this for me?
RK ...
That is sad ... but I will say this ... having watched the second half of the Furman game, it was startling to see what we had on the field behind the starters.
We've got to sign as many JUCOs to count against last year as possible.
Hard to believe that UGA gets 20 more penalty yards per game than we do.
going to get dinner
or
go on, get dinner
depends on the speaker and who they're talking to.
Jet,
What's strange we gave up under 300 yards of offense against Furman for the game, but still 31 points.
RK- Penalties are a part of Richt's legacy. They consistently rank among the leagues worst team year after year. It's hard to beat them in that category.
Hear we had some scout team offensive lineman playing on defense at some point. That's awesome.
Beat Gawga! Need to focus, execute, keep your head in the game, play hard and all that stuff this weekend.
I am originally from Ga. and my brother-in-law is an Alum. 11 years younger that I am. He is one of the more intellegent ones and we have a good time during the Auburn - Ga game week. I been on hard times lately and NEED a big win.
Reading the posts about the 1996 AU-UGA game brings back alot of memories for me.
I was in Starkville that day. Alabama and MSU were playing one of those 8PM ESPN2 games...
We watched Auburn at some tailgating spot around the stadium. I was stunned at how that game ended...and a little concerned. Weird things were happening.
MSU was terrible and the stands were about 3/4 full and the majority of those were Bama fans. The 8PM kickoff was delayed by a half hour because the two guys parachuting into Scott Field with the game ball had issues. One missed the stadium entirely because of the STRONG wind that was blowing...The other broke both legs while landing on the field. They had to wait for the paramedics to scoop him up and get him out of the stadium.
MSU played a good game and Freddie Kitchens kept throwing interceptions. It was one of the four games I can remember where I thought Coach Stallings was outcoached badly. (UF 94, LSU 93, UL 90 being the others)
At any rate, they beat us something like 17-16 or something like that...They had people pouring into the stadium at the end of the game...The goal posts came down and my roommate and I ran to the car. It was wild.
Bad Times.
RK ...
Of course, 14 of them were on short fields ... the PPL muffed punt (Adieu, Frenchy, adieu!) and the Eric Smith fumble.
Did Stallworth get hurt on his reverse early in the game against Furman?
Stallworth got hurt on a special teams play, I think.
Our Special Teams should be called Cirque Du Freak. They've not been good save a couple of blocked XPs.
Apologies to Wes Byrum.
Does UGA have good kick/punt returners?
Reading through the post of last night and all of the BBQ talk. It reminded me of after the game Saturday I stopped back by the tailgate party I had attended prior to the game and they had some of the best Brunswick stew I have ever eaten. I have a long time family recipe that is hard to beat but that was close.
One thing I noticed during the Furman game, they weren't covering Kodi at all when he lined up at WR.
Luv,
On punts, most of the time, their backup QB (Logan Gray) fair-catches the ball. He's apparently the only one with sure hands, plus it keeps him out of the QB role where he throws interceptions.
Kickoff returns are another story. Brandon Boiken is pretty scary.
Think Caudle can catch punts?
RK- Stallworth got hurt on a kickoff coverage play if I recall correctly.
Also, do you blame Furman for not covering Kodi?
Go on get in there
Jet...I was about to post something similar to your 9:13 am post ...you said it real fine.
I've been out of touch while bass fishing for 3 days. Got to watch the replay on CSS last night and was shocked at the walk-ons playing second string D and almost the entirety of the 3rd string D.
If we beat UGAG by 21 points, is that that considered dog abuse worthy of a Federal indictment?
I want to say UGA has had a kid return a couple of kickoffs for TD's and maybe a punt too.
Yeah Mr. TD,
This guy
I think you are right, I think that UGA has a top level return guy.
I'm just hoping we get the confused lost Willie Martinez D out there.
I'm glad Gulley and Washington are back in the punt return scenario.
We would almost do as well to get in a punt safe return formation and just let the ball stop where it wants to.
Gully was most impressive hitting the corners Saturday. speed baby. it kills.
Jet- I was saying the exact same thing the last couple of weeks. No need to even field a punt returner IMO.
Unless I'm missing something, D. Benton's "look at me" comments were disappointing. He makes a few catches (w/ poor fundamentals by the way) against a D2 team and now wants to act like he is a world beater? That's not the best way to keep team-mate support.
I'm really dreading having to listen to Mark Jones and Bob Davie on Saturday. Shoot me now.
You and me both E-bro.
"Out of bounds at the 84 yard line" returns this weekend.
It appears to me that DeAngelo might be a graduate of the Prince Wimbley School of Self-Congratulatory Sciences.
The fine institution is named for the former Cousin Humper wide receiver who would thrust his hands skyward after every catch -- even the insignificant 2-yard catches on 3rd and 4.
We don't get Auburn radio here in the Noog (do we?), so I'm considering putting on the UGA radio broadcast instead.
Eddie .....agreed ....Davies is so boring, however I do actually remember Cap't Obvious making 1 salient statement a few games ago.
Thankfully I will only be watching and not listening to the Auburn game.
haha @ Prince Wimbley. i haven't heard that cat's name in ages. nice.
Prince Wimbley...
The guy that Bill Curry about ripped his head off after one of those showboating sessions.
Nope, I haven't been able to pick up the Auburn broadcast in this area in a long long time.
About 15 years or so ago we could pick it up with some static from a station in Scottsboro.
You have duel tv's, FSJ?
Also faker, got some BBQ pit info for you and a picture if I can figure out to post it. As for the pit:
It's a direct heat BBQ Pit based on an old family design, with
family recipe basting sauce, and family recipe BBQ sauce. Our
family apparently had a restaurant in Selma, Al back in the late 40's.
I was not aware of that last part.
i'm leaving Knoxville around 6am on saturday morning bound for Athens. anyone wanting to board the Scottie B Express is welcome.
Ebro ...haven't heard the new UGAG announcer, however he can't be any more biased that Munson.
I've tried the free AU radio internet connections, but they are typically 20 seconds behind the TV. Does anyone know the timing of the pay internet radio feed?
Come on Bro, know your heritage!
We will have two TV's running this weekend.
My goal in my dream house is to have a setup similar to what Peter described yesterday for the weekends where we are not attending games.
Bro, did you know that? How come I was never told?
Also, how do I post a picture?
This comment has been removed by the author.
I'm watching the game right now as I work.
Did McCain come back into the game after limping off the field in the 2nd quarter?
Thanks for the info E-Bro..
When y'all get the pics have Eddie load them onto facebook....
I am fascinated by alot of things...one of them happens to be BBQ pits.
RK...yes, he did.
Hoopie- The new UGA announcer, Scott Howard, is not bad. He does a pretty good job. Now Loren on the other hand, still asks irrelevant questions on the sidelines such as what flavor of gatorade are the dawgs drinking?
Scottie ...around 9am, when passing exit 288 honk for the AU fans in C-ville.
I'd meet you for coffee, but I'll be 50 miles away.
Bro- Email me the pic and I will load it onto facebook and then post a link here to it. That's the best way.
Eddie...done.
Speaking of C-ville, it looks like I will be making a stop in C-Ville to drop the kids off with the grand parents as it is the halfway mark from Chattanooga and my house. Bro, you should come to the game and pick up a cheap ticket there.
First coach down...
Tommy West fired at Memphis..
Per the Memphis paper.
Hoopie, i always honk at Cartersville. i love me some Ronnie B. :)
I've thought about it bro, but I doubt I will. My record in Athens isn't as good as yours. Don't wanna leave the Rents hanging on taking care of the little ones by themselves.
it's actually closer for me to get to Athens through N.Carolina.
Eddie ...C-ville is at least 1 hour out of the way in the V-R to Athens trek.
Remember ...UGAG fans and players are losers. They don't go to Athens as such, but that place brings 'em down.
BBQ Pit- Here is a link to my blog with a picture and links to my Facebook page with additional pics.
Dad's BBQ Pit
Hoopie- It is, but when you are unloading the kids for the day, it's on the way :)!!! Parents usually meet me around the chili's there in C-Ville.
I do miss me some Larry Munson. For years that was the only thing I could say nice about UGA is that I loved me some Munson.
that is SERIOUS barbecue.
Munson probably stayed a year too long, but he is good and is classic SEC Football radio. Radio was best for me when Fyffe, John Ward and Larry Munson were all doing play-by-play at the same time.
"He's at the 5-4-3-2-1! Give. Him. Six. Touchdown! Big Orange!"
Cue Rocky Top...
"We stepped on their face, with a hobnail boot!"
"See ya later Bama!"
That's me paying homage to 3 of the greatest in SEC radio history.
With Tommy West out at Memphis, they may be going after Trooper Taylor for HC. That would suck for us if that happens IMO.
Dude...
That is going to be sweet!
I see some of these people cooking on these $15,000 pits in these contests I enter. Funny thing is that often someone cooking on a $250 homemade pit beats their butt.
That happened in one of the contests we entered this past year. A guy with one of those monsters came by talking about how "he" does things and how "he" has won x amount of titles doing it "his" way..
Jackleg didn't even place.
E-Bro..
Can't believe you left out Paul Kennedy and Doug Layton on the Van Tiffin kick.
:-P
Where did you see the Trooper Taylor part of that Eddie.
Former Mocs coach Tommy West started out hot at Clemson then fell off fast then did the same at Memphis.
West coached Clemson against us in the Peach Bowl in 97.
FSJ- We will have to send some pork your way. I'm stoked that he is building it and can't wait for it to get fired up and used.
What we need this weekend is the first drive UGA has on offense for our D to stop them.
The D seems to be slow getting moving and almost always gives up a score on the 1st drive. We need to snap out of that.
Trooper Taylor to Memphis????
Would Tuberville be interested in them?
Yeah, FSJ, silly me...
As for the pit, the dated picture may give off the appearance of having a little work left to be done, but that sucker will be ready to roll (or baste) next week.
I'm not worried about Trooper. Hopefully he stays, but if not, we'll be fine.
FSJ- I would be surprised if Tubs is interested in that job. I see him in the SEC or Big East where he at least has a shot to win it all. I could be wrong, but thats what I think.
Agreed E-Bro...
I think Trooper could easily be replaced.
Larry Johnson released from the Chiefs, 75 yards short of the franchise record.
Two questions...
1. Is E-Bro really Eddie's brother?
2. FSJ, are you coming to the Iron Bowl and, if so, are you bringing your Mac Daddy smoker?
Think anyone will hire Johnson? If so, who?
Luv- Question 1- Yes.
I dunno, Luv. He's still decent, but does anyone really have a need for a 30 year old RB?
i'm 32. guess i'm over the hill now too, eh PF?
Luv,
I am coming to the Iron Bowl..
I doubt I am bringing the smoker though.
I have a feeling it will be difficult to maneuver with that thing on campus.
Hope to meet some hotties while in Auburn.
It looks as tho Trovon Reed has canceled his Friday presser to announce his commitment due to his team playing away instead of at home. He looks to still be leaning Auburn's way, but we will have to wait a little longer to find out if that is true. I think he ends up at Auburn.
In the real world, Scottie, no. In the world of NFL RBs, you died already.
I refused to go to '96 UGA game because I woke up knowing my heart was going to get ripped out and stomped on. I was unable to convince MrsTHT to stay home, so she went solo and got home to Marietta about 1 a.m.
She can handle the losses so much better than I can. Maybe one day I'll grow up.
In the world of Eurasia, scottie would be starting his third tour as a palace dancer at that age.
who am I foolin. It ain't gonna happen.
Michael - do your palace dancers all wear tutus?
my wife wants to move to the beach. i think i'm going to talk her into Eurasia instead. sweet!
Scottie- once you finish your 3rd tour as a palace dancer, I bet the Eurasian Omnipotence will give you a great assignment...just like he did for that naked North Korean dictator.
THT - I am pretty reasonable when it comes to palace dancers' clothing. They can pretty much wear whatever they want outside of Alabama gear.
THT, Athens this weekend?
THT - Generally, after the third tour of a palace dancer, they work as gravediggers for a couple of months. There are always a lot of graves to dig since we execute all dancers that finish a fifth tour.
Watching the CSS broadcast of the game from Saturday, does Cole Cubelic even like his alma mater?
whew! glad you told me that Michaela. i'd be pissed if i moved all the way to Eurasia not knowing i'd be taken out after my 5th tour!
RK...hard to tell sometimes. I'm not sure he likes anybody...but himself. He loves him some him.
Lol...When I've heard him on bammerham radio...I tend to agree with E-Bro.
Turn the page, yo.
Flip this thing.
Good job RK
