Auburn fans have a stake in The Masters
Hey everyone. Former Auburn golfer Jason Dufner, a 2000 graduate, will participate in the Masters tournament this week. He is the third Auburn guy to do so.
Who are the others? Glad you asked.
John Huston played Augusta National a bunch of times. Buddy Gardner participated in the 1986 Masters.
Dufner qualified for the tournament by finishing 66th in the Official World Golf Rankings last season. He's currently ranked 73rd. Dufner will tee off at 11:14 a.m. CST on Thursday along with Vijay Singh and Sean O'Hair.

Yeah cincy!
scottie,
You sure picked an offense packed game to go to! 16 runs by the Braves! When we go they usually win, but it is usually a defensive struggle with scores like 2-1 :)
Funny you mention having Baba O'Reilly as a ringtone...
It's been the staple of my phone for two years now.
Auburn baseball 5-2 at top of the 5th
Until they add blocking and tackling to it, I can't get into golf.
I'm not a golfer.
I do like Duf. He's a funny, laissez-faire guy.
JGT... can I borrow your press credentials to get into the Masters?
I wouldn't get within 200 miles of that place this week. Infrastructure mishaps there are legendary. So, yeah, you could have gone in my stead. We used to cover the Masters ...
It was ausome cincy. Thx.
YAll see the Uconn women only score 12 pts in the first half of the nc game? Wow
Jay G, yes, the MA used to.
Odd night. My boss threw out the first pitch at the Miss. State game tonight -- we played ping pong in the State clubhouse afterward. My first Dudy Noble experience.
Bo Jackson is now running across my phone screen in Tecmo Bowl!
yaaaaaaaaaaa beat tiger
AU 16 GSU 5, by the way!!!!
I've never been to a Masters, but I went to one U.S. Open at Pinehurst in about 2000. It was just a bunch of guys walking around waking a ball with a little stick.
Duke & UConn
How perfectly boring.
Jet...
My old man speaks of Dudy-Noble with reverence.
But he does the same with Scott Field, so what does he know?
Mummey is back! And back in style!
2-2 with a HR and 4 RBI tonight... Nice to have him back from the ankle injury.
miller, beat me to the punch just got home from the game, mummey got a great ovation when he stepped to the plate for his first at bat. Got the sac fly in his first at bat, a single in his second and then the 3 run jack, and let me just tell you there was NO doubt. Offense looked great, pitchers looked young, which they were. South alabama tomorrow
Auburn ends up winning 22-5. I sure hope they saved some runs for the games against LSU this weekend! Looks like it was a fun game to watch.
$
22-7 actually cincy, unfortunately our 9th inning pitcher gave up a 2-run homer
My bad. I missed those last two runs. But, 22-7 still sounds awfully good!
that it does cincy, south alabama will be a much better opponent tomorrow night. Hopefully those bats won't cool off before this weekend
Auburn alpha psi Rodeo t-minus 4 days
You ready, jhag?
The best stat from tonight's game was that AU did not commit an error.
The errors have killed them in several games this year... they've got to cut them WAY down to have a shot.
that was a great stat miller, and that was even with subbing in a new first and third baseman, and a new catcher
Wait, define new? Caldwell's not a "new catcher" by any means.
i meant we subbed in a catcher, they pulled caldwell for jenkins in the 7th
As much as I like his bat, C Mac makes way too many errors. Him not being in tonight's lineup might have helped that.
its true and justin bryant has hit a homer in his last three games, but i think powlowski goes back to casey soon, i think his defense will tighten up
Bottom line: Auburn has options. That is fantastic.
i guess well see...going in alive, coming out the same way!
I forgot that GSU leads the nation in batting average. A win against them is impressive.
We can only hope, jhag. I'm sure some of the hotties will be praying for you.
He Jay, I have a few questions that others might be interested in also.
1) The main QB interviews we have seen have been Newton and a little Caudle. Is this due to which QBs the media is requesting or is it who Auburn is providing, which I assume could be due to the coaches or player?
2) Was is the status of Travante Stallworth? I have read references to him being injured, but I can't remember him being injured.
3) Has Eric Smith been requested/made available for interviews?
Thanks. Just some curiousity on my part.
Did Stallworth ever even come back last year when he got injured in November?
I think I've heard Travante did something to his knee at one point last year and was reported to miss this spring due to recovery, either surgery or just rest. I'm not sure about that though.
PF, I don't even recall when he was injured. I suppose it is part of old age. I forget other more important things these days, too.
Homecoming, I think. He definitely didn't play at UGA or against Bama. I don't remember the Outback bowl.
In more important news, was Uncle Traveling Matt fashioned after Albert Einstein and Indiana Jones's freaky science lovechild?
Basic Structural Analysis test tomorrow/today.
Discuss.
Furthermore, does anyone have a contact for a potential Civil Engineering internship/apprenticeship job near the Auburn area this summer? I'd be happy to supply my resume, etc.
Hey Hot Ones!!!
Time to wake you; y'all are burning daylight!
I'm awake...I think!
Postcards from Traveling Matt were my favorite part. Thumbs up.
The Rudi Johnson run vs Wyoming that Jay G linked to on the previous post always makes me smile.
Good morning, Habotnistas!
Wells, Good luck on your test.
Hi, 2.0, where in the world are you today :)
Where is Luv? I don't think she has been on all week.
I think I am going to get to announce exciting news in just a little bit :)
Go ahead an announce it now. Don't keep me hanging.
G'morning Cincy!
I'm visiting friends in Skopje, Macedonia. I am eating soooo much food and whole milk here has solid fat in it. yummy! bye-bye diet.
Just ordered tickets for tomorrow nights Rays game.
Oh my gosh, 2.0, I gained 2 pounds just reading your post!
Soon, Norm, very soon....
Where in world is THT 2.0 (to tune of Carmin Sandiego)
OK, that is very weird. I just posted two comments and they just disappeared into thin air.
Something strange is going on here. Testing...testing...
My 7:48 comment didn't show up on my scream till 10 minutes after I posted it.
cincy with exciting news! yippee!
FYI, Jair Jurrjens takes the hill for the Bravos tonite vs. Dempster & the Cubbies. chop-chop!
Wake,
Glad to know it isn't just me. I guess I am so used to them showing up immediately, it freaked me out when they didn't. Patience, cincy, patience.
stupup, DONT spoil 'Chuck' for me. i've got it on dvr. won't be able to watch it, '24', or 'Damages' till the weekend.
Hey scottie, not to ruin it for you but I hear Jack gets himself into trouble this week, but then gets himself out of it.
Crazy right.
Baseball tonight vs USA. I'm assuming Slade is getting the start????
Okay, horse fans, I need help understanding something. How is a number 2 seed considered the "overall highest seeded team going into competition" Equestrian stuff boggles me. Especially the part where one of the riders would marry Michael.
Good morning Hotties and 2.0
JGT I watched and pulled for John Huston his entire golfing career. He was never great but did win some tournaments. He was never one of the media favorites and got little coverage unless he was playing with one of the favs. He hurt his baack and tried a comeback but never made it. It was never talked about by the TV talking heads, he just disappeared.
Maybe your reading it wrong PF. Maybe that team has smoked the most dope, and is seeded. So therefore they are team that is the most high and is also seeded, so they are the highest seeded team... get it?
Keep the Auburn equestrian team away from Wake and drug testers.
PF,
There are two sections to Equestrian, western and hunt seat. They are the 2nd seed in each, which combined makes them the highest seed. Does that make sense?
Cincy's explanation, but I'm sticking with the drug theory.
So 2+2=1. Got it.
It's a good theory, wake.
that should have said Cincy's theory makes sense.
And I was saying the drug theory made sense :)
John Huston's Auburn career was less than brief. He was in school for a quarter played in one or two tournaments without distinction.
In 2000, Huston was playing a practice round with Daly, Mickelson and Zoeller. At No. 16, patrons beg players to skip the ball across the water. All complied, including Daly, who stopped the ball a few feet of the hole. Sadly, John mis-hit his and hit a screaming line drive into the gallery.
Buddy Gardner was a hard luck golfer -- an oustanding golfer at AU and a Gump native.
He nearly won twice on Tour -- unfortunately, Jay Haas dropped a 90 foot bomb on him in Houston. He qualified for the Masters by finishing in the top 10 (as I recall) in the previous US Open. His Masters visit was tough -- his birdie putt on the first hole of the tournament went off the green. He missed the cut.
In case you were wondering, Jet made all of that up.
I seem to recall Buddy Gardner working at the former Food World located outside of the former Montgomery Mall. If that memory is accurate, that's a fair indication of his golfing career.
OK, it is official! Tylerson received an offer from his dream job in Huntsville and will begin work June 1. $65,000 salary with an $8000 signing bonus, plus unbelievable benefits. Quite a blessing in this economy. Not too bad, even if it did take him 5 years to finish school!
Wow Cincy, I'm jealous. I didn't get anywhere near that kind of offer coming out of school. And this was before the recession.
that sounds amazing cincy. congrats to him.
Off to play for the day! Y'all have a good one.
Congrats to Tylerson great news.
Jet I knew Huston wasn't at Auburn long but I stil followed his career. I looked it up and he is again trying to play this year. Been in 5 tournaments made 1 cut. At 48 I wonder if he will try the Champions League?
Good job, Tyler.
