Thanks Jay. That looks pretty good. We are a little low on RB, TE, DT, and DB; but it isn't horrible. We have tons of WR, some who could fill in at DB or RB.

Yea, the incoming will help a lot, although it is nice to be able to redshirt. The incoming are why I am not concerned with LBs. We are actually looking pretty good there.

I wish we had another true RB other than Dyer coming in, but we should be fine.

DT will still be a concern, but it will really help if we get all the DTs in that we signed. I think there was three if you count the RB/DT. I have heard one is likely not to qualify.

The coaches did a much better job of filling needs this time. Part of the reason we are still a little thin at DT and RB is because we had some major prospects we were hoping for there and didn't get them, but it isn't bad. They have enough players to work with.

PF.... you can wait and hear of some roster trimmings to the basketball team... that should satisfy you

Typically I would prefer at least 6 or 7 RBs, but it does depend upon how many we are going to have on the field at once. Since the H-Back could be a WR or TE I guess it should be okay. Remember that we have had years with 3 or 4 RBs injured. Remember the year when Tre started in the Iron Bowl? Not to mention that with the up tempo offense, we have more carries to spread around. In general you have 3 or 4 times the number of starter at a position.

AU will have to recruit just as wel this coming year for OL and DT. That is the priority for 2011 class.

Take 1-2 Rb's, 1 QB, 2 WR's, 4 DB, 2 DE, 5LB, 4 OL and 4 DT.

I think that will do it.

9:59 PM
Blogger wtc said...

Jet has the correct call on QB:

Newton
Moseley
Caudle
Trotter (unitl he transfers)

10:00 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

I notice there's still roon for a longsnapper on that group...Is there a punter in this incoming class? If not, might be a good idea for 2011.

Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Thanks, wtc. I knew about the PK, couldn't remember the P situation, and was too lazy to look...Yep, that should do. They'll need a walk-on to backup the punting duties, but those have been easy to come by in recent years.

10:13 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Almost 2 E per game is unacceptable.

10:18 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Yea, some schools don't even give kickers scholarships, or at least not until they prove themselves. I feel good about the kickers we've got.

In general, the coaches satisfied our needs in this last class. I was most impressed with the OLs and LBs we got. OL was going to be a huge concern in 2011, but I am not nearly as concerned.

10:31 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Trotter should transfer. It is hard to see him getting playing time unless we see an unbelievable number of QB injuries. Usually I would say 4 QBs is a good number, but we have so many ex-QBs on this team, having an emergency QB in case of disaster shouldn't be a problem.

Y'all humor me, I've got to tell you a funny on my dad.

He and Mom are visiting my sister in Fairhope for Easter week and my sis signed him up for a pottery class yesterday. He arrived a little early and went into a room where he heard voices. Someone said, "Are you Bill?" He affirmed he was and they said their model was a little late and they would get started soon. The teacher came up and showed him a drawing of a naked woman and told him this was their model and they would be concentrating on sculpting this particular pose. Dad is thinking, "I thought she signed me up for a pottery class and we were going to make a vase or something!" About then the model came in and started stripping off her clothes. She was about half undressed and Dad said, "I think I'm in the wrong place. Is this the pottery class?" Turned out he was in the sculpture class, not the pottery c;ass. I think he was very relieved to get out of there!

You'd have to know my Dad to know how funny this is!!

This is not an April Fool's joke!

me too, Scottie B! I'd love to be touring around.

Thanks, Ephemeral. Before the days of the interstate, we would go through Columbus on the way from NC to LA to visit my grandparents. One Christmas, my parents forgot to pack the "Santa stuff" so they bought more in Columbus (I was 8 and oblivious). They called a friend and told them where the stuff was back home in NC and had them put it under our tree so it would be there when we got home. Two Santa visits...the best Christmas ever!

p.s. in Glenwood, AL I found a Johnny 7-OMA under the tree.
Back home, I found one of those old timey electric football games where the players just run in circles.

Similar to your story, we would go to my grandparents "in the country" for Christmas. One year, Santa forgot stuff for my cousin so that he had gifts when he got back home in addition to what was at our grandparents'. I was so envious and could not understand why Santa left toys for me at only one locale.

*Thundershift 500 race track

*Rock'em Sock'em Robots

*Verti-Bird

*Some knock-off of a Nerf football that was actually better than a nerf football. It had a plasticy coating on the outside of it that made it easier to throw.

I especially love it when the plan comes together completely successfully and not one, not two but two and a half days ahead of schedule. We don't see that much of an early finish often for what I do. I may now completely goof off from lunch time today until I leave tomorrow night.

Norm, you have a panty on your head son.

(couldn't resist)

Blogger cincytiger said...

I forgot Harrison had a problem with panties.

1:50 PM
Blogger Scott Chocolate said...

Harrison, "panties" is just the diminutive of "pants". What should really offend you is "bloomers" (apparently, they were crotchless).

1:51 PM
Blogger Harrison said...

I like the word pants, makes me laugh

1:53 PM
Blogger Scott Chocolate said...

Harrison, my research tells me that if you create a time-machine to transport you back to sometime before 1908, you will not have to hear the word "panty" anymore. That same research tells me that the term "panty raid" was not coined until 1952. Apparently, Auburn was five years ahead of the curve.

Why is it called a "panty" raid and not a "panties" raid? Who besides the dude in "Raising Arizona" uses "panty" in singular form? Well, besides me in my last post.

Last I heard he was some kind of medicine man in the heart of Africa.

I tried to mimic his straight up delivery but all I did was break a ceiling fan and dislocate my shoulder.

I remember my roommate getting that issue of SI while I was at AU. Shortly after that, Sidd Finch visited AU and pitched batting practice to some of the Auburn players. He broke three catchers mitts.

And thats just current day boobies, if we count all boobies since the beginning of time, that is elleventy billion boobs.

3:10 PM

Speaking of boobs, there was a newscast from one of the business channels where there was a guy in the background looking at naughty photos in direct view of the cameras. It was pretty funny.
