Baseball cracks the Top 25
Hey everyone. Auburn baseball earned a pair of pleasant surprises today when outfielder Justin Fradejas was named the SEC's Player of the Week and the team moved to No. 23 in the Baseball America rankings.
Fradejas went 9-for-19 at the plate with three doubles, six RBIs and six runs scored last week. The team went 4-1 during that stretch with a series win against LSU.
Auburn hadn't been ranked since the 2007 season.

Ranked substance
But what about DA? Where is DA? He was suppose to be da man and I do not hear anything about him??
Great news, Jay. Thanks for the excellent coverage.
Yeeee-Haaaa!!
5th!
Day by day substance.
War Eagle, baseball!
perfect 'substance' Sensi!
Yes, indeed ranked substance, as opposed to rank substance.
Most of the day off but had a meeting that made me miss the whole post-practice thread. Now I'm stuck with a baseball thread ;-)
I saw over at Bitter where Bynes predicted either Newton or CAUDLE to be the spring game MVP if we passed a lot.
I was certain that would spark serious QB ponderings from SFC.
THT, shut your mouth.
I think Bynes is trying to make the coaches happy with that quote. I am sure it was like "Cam Newton................. or Neil Caudle. Yeah, that's it. Caudle."
Questions...
1. why on earth were we ever ranked in 2007?
2. well rats. I've already forgotten it.
3. anybody got an idea what my question was?
JGT - thanks so much for that excellent football practice report. I've liked AGM ever since you introduced him to us in January '09.
Hoop: I guess I missed the Caudle prognostication. I think I was talking to someone else ...
PF - that sure seems like a lot of work for a grilled cheese sammich.
It just sounds like it, ThT. Really just putting butter on bread, slapping some cheese in there, and thowing it in the pan.
Luckie is starting Wednesday against New Orleans. I wonder if he throws more than 16 pitches.
Mark Seal's article on Tiger Woods in May editions of Vanity Fair is outstanding.
... and this coming from someone who doesn't care much about Tiger Woods or professional golf.
Is it accompanied by more half naked pictures? Puppets! Aggghhhh.
It is Helf Naked Weather after all.
If you have never seen a naked helf, then you are luckier than me.
Is that half-human, half-elf?
Is there a prize or something for seeing a naked helf?
half human, half emu, half pizza, and half elephant brains. I don't know where the nameologist got "helf". Nameologists are idiots.
I know, right!?
Coach Pawlowski on ITAT radio in 7 minutes, apparently. He's a great guy, as a person...maybe even an Auburn man.
Puppet Hour Report: It was okay today. Not bad, but not instant classic, either.
There's a pancake breakfast this Saturday the Marco Island Fire Station.
There's a crawfish boil at my buddy Smitty's house this Sat for A-Day.
From what I've gleaned from interviews, Smitty is a great man.
yeah, he's a good guy. Can't dance a lick though
Dancing is in the soul. Everyone's got it. Some people just don't know what dancing is and impose their opinion on true dancers like Smitty.
PF - it bothers me that you imply I have no soul. I mean, I knew my dog didn't have a soul (no offense intended to the Hindu Hotties), but I thought for sure I had one. But if it goes hand in hand with dancing.... nope, I ain't got it.
I'm pretty sure Molly had a soul. Bailey's taken a liking to eating ice cream (she barks at the freezer until I scoop her some) since M passed. I can only explain it as Molly's spirit influencing her.
Caudle as MVP of the A-Day game is one of the signs that the end of the world is near. I don't see it happening.
I would also like to point out that Fannin said that Newton and Caudle were both threats passing the ball. He was not specific as to what the threat might be.
Barbee ready to announce he is bringing 3 of his assistants with him to AU.
Lots of good things happening on The Plains.
I talked with someone today that says more basketball players will be released this year. At least one will take a medical leave (or whatever) and no longer play. Barbee should be able to sign 3-4 players.
Ignore this, I am just testing something.
did it work?
PF - ice cream sounds like an excellent idea tonight. I have had a hard time remembering to eat my daily recommended allowance (x4) since Molly isn't here to remind me. Send some of her spiritual influence back this way.
No, THT, it didn't. It is a blogger account question and as soon as I can figure out how to ask the question, I am going to ask the HABOTNs for help.
JG ..The Bynes prognostication really wasn't much of a deal to miss except that there was value to setup SFC for a punch line.
Good job Steve.
Are all of these released players going to negatively affect the academic progress directive to the point of sanctions?
how many of them will be current players vs signees who are released? the latter wouldn't be an issue with APR would they?
Great read on both post today. HOpe we have a great crowd this Sat. I won't make it due to obligations but sure wish I could.
I just found out the A-day game is opposite the pool dive for my underwater archeology course. Thank God for DVRs.
Hotties have really let me down today. Chuck is on and nobody reminded me ;-)
I've only missed the opening few minutes, you know the part where the whole plot is introduced
Ok, Hotties. Y'all were looking after me after all. It's a rerun. New episode not until end of April. I think I'll eat some ice cream now.
Chuck?
NoVa, you do some strange stuff. I mean, it sounds really cool, but odd at the same time.
Peter,
I've always been interested in archeology. Scuba is a new hobby and I'm combining the 2. The group I'm with does volunteer work usually under the direction of a professional archeologist. The course is for certification to work with them. It'll be a couple of dives a year and maybe the occasional trip to a tropical wreck.
I envy you living down there where great diving is a day trip.
If you ever come across a chest full of gold dubloons, I'd like one...
You'd probably have better luck beach combing for one. Those things are rare unless you're on a treasure ship and then the state would probably claim it.
I do have a silver piece from a Spanish wreck that was part of my mother's estate.
Dang, diving is lethal to threads.
Bedtime for me. Have fun everyone.
THT-The news kids being released will not hurt the API, not sure if sending one off due to medical reasons hurt. (like spencer pybus or vance smith)
I will be at the A-day game. I am thinking we draw 55k for the game and fans from the other school dog us for only having 55k.
I will get there about 11:30, tour the new arena, eat lunch in the scholly section, sit down (in the shaded area)and enjoy practice.
shouldn't hurt the APR either.
Ted Turner smokes a joint every day.
Thanks, wtc. I'd sure love to be part of the big crowd...assuming it is big, but I just can't convince myself to drive 1000 miles for a scrimmage that's going to be on my tv.
THT-I am glad it is only 45 minutes away. Will get to spend time with my daughter at the game. Looking forward to it.
hey guys
disappointed in the news, jhag...
im going to issue my appology to you all and explain my self shortly....bittersweet fellas
What are you guys talking about?
Does anyone have an Amazon Kindle
Hello from behind enemy lines(Baton Rouge, LA).
WTC, I think we have at least 50k and set an Auburn record. It will also be a top 10 turn out.
Cincy, where is the condo I would like to stop by and meet you and any other hotties that might stop by.
Did jhag choose FSU?????????????
CH-B.... yeah... he did... Apparently a blonde from his FB page factored into the decision... and if so, he's partially forgiven...
Jhag ...
Good luck in Tally.
Woot.
a lot of blondes factored into my decision
and a lot of brunettes
CH=B,
The condo is in The Brown Crest, directly across the street from Lowder Hall on Magnolia. If you come through the gate at the street on Magnolia (code 5241) we are the first ground floor condo on your right. Can't miss us!
We will probably eat around 11 or so and then meet back there again after the game.
If it isn't one particular blonde, Auburn has plenty of gorgeous blondes and brunettes!
Is this a 2-girls-for-every-boy situation or something?
I was speaking specifically about the one who made the first comment on your fb post....
AU has plenty to match that kind of talent... but, I won't fault you for staying closer to home and isn't your brother there?
Who is going this weekend?
I'm thinking about going... but, can't make up my mind whether I really want to or not...
Part of me wants to go, part of me doesn't want to drive.
Thanks Cincy. Hope to see some of you there. I think it will be a good time. We will be seeing the future championship winners. Plus we get to see the new arena?
jhag, I can speak from experience that there are not many schools that can match the talent at Auburn (if you know what I mean). So please have a better reason than women.
theres tons of other reasons, best friend brother is there, ill save 25 grand a year, get a new vehichle, be closer to home...the bittersweet thing is missing the AU gameday atmostphere
Miller - puh LEEZ... the drive???
All of me wants to go, and if it was 500 miles total instead of one way, I'd be there in a heart beat.
Kindle? MrsTHT has had one since the first model was released; LGG Byron gave it to her for Christmas. She likes it a lot.
Sweet AU dreams!!!
The $25 g's and a new car are tough bargaining points, jhag. I know the out of state feeling, and its hitting me hard right now.
But seriously, no one beats Auburn women. At least in the combination of class and beauty.
Morning Hotties!
Jay,
Thanks for the article on McCalebb - good stuff.
Guten morgen hot ones!
Wie gehts du heute?
Sehr gut. Und Sie?
Auch gut, danke.
Sullivan throws deep for ...
BEASLEY!
Really enjoyed the two Auburn baseball games televised in the Atlanta area this weekend. I became convinced this team was special on Friday night when they mounted a huge comeback and even got the tieing run into the on deck circle after being behind by 11 runs. Winning the weekend series on regional tv put us on the baseball map.
Nice article today JG.
From what the beat hacks have been able to discuss, what type of scrimmage should we expect Saturday?
I am thinking that since it is on TV, and AU has more bodies than last year, it will be closer to a game type scrimmage than just a few drills and simple 11 on 11. I am looking for some head knocking this weekend.
Grats to Phil Mickelson on winning the Masters. Good guys really do finish first sometimes. No foul language, no attitude, and a good family man.
morning hotties!
guess what? i won some Facebook deal yesterday from Anders Bookstore! ha. got me a new AU cap to pick up saturday. coolio.
I'm with you, wtc ... more like a game.
jhag to FSU: GET SOME!
i think that's why he's going to FSU JG. ha!
Excellent article, Jay. I am not sure what to think about FAH's prediction. In general, I don't like talk like that, but hopefully he will back the talk up.
saw on facebook where jhag is going to FSU.....what's up with that?
Please tell me we won't have crazy scoring system from last year...5 points for taking the field with no equipment fouls, 7.5 points for a fumble recovery, 13.3 points for each snap without a false start. It made last years game hard to follow.
Free Shoes University. UF's personal whipping boy. That should be fun.
from the few times, i've been down to tally on a weekday, you could stand in the middle of an intersection on campus, throw a cat in any direction and likely hit a 10 or a 9. it gets hot in tally and spring and summer are not condusive to wearing lot of clothing. jhag may be onto something...
The scenery in Tally is among the best I've seen. That is certainly worth something. As is the new ride, nothing like new wheels.
and i was in the fsu parents section @ JH for the last time AU played them. they tried the fumbleruski and AU was waiting for it. we kicked the winning fg and moved up to #2. this guy named favre showed up a few weeks later and it was all downhill from there.
The offensive line will get a "rouge" if a drive goes longer than three plays and no offensive lineman gets a false start.
The kicking team gets six points for every kickoff that doesn't go out of bounds and the return team doesn't return it to midfield.
It will be hard to win games next season if the opponent continues to start at mid-field each position. That is the one thing that has to be improved dramatically in order for this season to be good.
Had an interesting caller to a morning radio station this morning complementing them on their format. She said "if I wanted to hear a bunch of ignorant rednecks, I would pay attention at work".
So what is everyone up to today?
that's great stuff SFC.
FC, who is in your starting eleven?
Absolutely clutch, Jet! Thanks!!!!!!
MrsTHT has a dozen or so ladies coming for dinner tonight, so she was cracking the whip early this morning, interfering with my HABOTNing.
wrong account, PF!!!

I make it sound far worse than reality. The reality is, she does 99.9% of the work around here. Is that a fair split?
That's much better. However, I do with you'd change that avatar. It looks more like a sumo wrestler torso than a dog.
The work is fine, the dinner sounds awful.
the dinner isn't so bad. She allows LGG Byron and myself to stay out of sight.
Thanks for the new avatar.

Commit Suicide.
Extreme, Edward.
My suicide awareness class taught me that Eddie just made a cry for help.
WE LOVE YOU EDDIE! DON'T DO IT!!!!!
Hey, Eddie's back...and in a good mood.
You call making suicide threat is a good mood?
Sounds like PF is the one who needs help.
Eddie, try this instead. --->
MJT - what does your class teach you about this
Me and Lindsay Lohan are in a race...
Luckily, the clergyman's response to his woes left the troubled man angry rather than depressed, and he abandoned thoughts of suicide
Sounds like his unusual tactics worked like a charm.
Well if that's the case Eddie I will go ahead and declare you the loser of said race.
Norm - that's almost funny. I bet you were actually trying to get me to click on the link to their most popular story of the day (see right hand column). I didn't fall for that trick.
Whoa, 3d pron.
NSFW?
I imagine listening to someone whine about their life at 2:00 in the morning might put me to sleep to.
jhag we wish you the best and know this is the right decision for you. Keep us up to date on things in Tally.
I hope they play straight up football on Sat.
I guarantee a victory for Auburn.
Seanzie, Michael, and Digger combine to put everyone to sleep. Nice job, guys! Who's going to help Eddie now?
I'll help. Eddie. Hi.
See, angry people don't commit suicide. The article said so. It's all better now.
I'm a fan of CoCo's beard.
My brother's fine.
If had a nickel for everytime he tried to commit...well, nevermind.
Scott Choc I don't need any help.
I can always put em to sleep all by myself.
Shenanigans!
Frank Caliendo, hilarious moment:
-In the Shaggy voice: Hey Scoob, let's like split up, you come with me.
-In the Bill Clinton Voice: I'll go with Daphne. (Pause) I'll show her the mystery in my machine.
Seanzie - what are your big plans for Freaknik this weekend?
To go to Auburn and relive the glory days. What about you?
I didn't even think they still did Freaknik, are they bringing it back this year?
Apparently
Awesome. Time to get my crunk on.
Freanik is back? Interesting.
i guess murder and rape is still cool in Atlanta
Isn't it everywhere?
I'm too old for Freaknik, but got to witness a bit of it. Was on I-85 south of ATl at a gas stop. A 4 car convoy headed for Freakink pulled in. While the boyz were in the store restocking the beer coolers, the chicks in the group decided it was time to take off their shirts and parade around. I took my time buying gas in order to view the entire show.
It was like Mardi Gras at the interstate exit.
Holy Finebaum, Batman!. Nick Saban's Mouthpiece hath declared Auburn will go 9-3 this year.
I always read the first page of comments. I'd have more fun killing brain cells getting hammered on Jack Daniels instead of reading those comments.
You act like killing brain cells on JD is a bad thing, Seanzie.
The Bammers are getting complacent, so PF needs to stir the pot. Nothing is genuine with him, it's only about stirring the pot and increasing ratings.
My intention was to convey if I have to do it, better to do it that way than by reading the rubbish on AL.com.
I have nothing at all against killing perfectly good brain cells using high end alcohol.
"Well you see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive drinking of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
Nice quote drop.
I thought it was timely and appropriate.
mmmmmm alchohol
gotta go with seanzie here
i know, sounds really good right now doesn't it harrison? yum.
Dos Equis for me after work.
Sierra Nevada Torpedo newly arrived in my fridge. Better than the Pale Ale. pretty good
mmmmmmmm beeeef jerkeeeey
i won't get home from work till 10:30 tonite. bummer.
my beer selections are a little slim right now, but I have a Beam 100 Month that had an additional 27 years in the bottle that I've been meaning to start sipping. I did a quick test to make sure it was still good, and it is phenomenal.
Best bottle of liquor I ever owned was Johnny Walker Blue. I wish i had made it last longer.
I remember the punchline of a joke from my childhood was "ketchup and liquor". Some guys who didn't know the language says it on accident when asked about an attractive girl or something. Anyway, if my parents had known my friends and I were telling such jokes, I would have gotten a spanking. With a spoon!
I had some "Diplomatico" rum from Venezuela over Easter weekend. That was some good stuff.
Apparently, Blogger has decided that most of us now have 0 profile views.
I have "approximately" 1216 profile views. Isn't that a little bit exact to be approximate?
Hmmm, MJT. I just checked yours and it says "0". It must have something to do with my connection.
Now mine says "1725"...weird.
blogger issues continue
I think this whole profile count thing was just a little game for you to show how much more popular you are than me.
I have mine showing as zero.
Sucker!
...or ketchup and liquor.
Miller or WTC- What's the big recruiting news coming later today?
I have 664 profile views, I'm roughly 1/2 as popular as Jan Terri and 1/3 as popular as SC. I used to think I was cool, now I know I am not.
I was never cool.
Even when I thought I was, I knew I wasn't.
There's another one for you, Wake. That brings your grand total to "0", according to what I'm seeing.
The King of Cool
Missing FL girl found alive:

Good news, SC. That rarely happens.
I'm going to click on my own profile for the rest of the afternoon so I look cool.
You think I'm kidding.
wake - i just contributed to your cause.
Appreciate it Norm.
I got bored after two clicks. My new idea is to stand on a street corner with a sign saying will work for clicks.
be careful how close you put that "c" and "l" buddy. Might not be what you're looking for
"Tricks for clicks"
The King say's it's hopeless Wake, you can't click cool.
