Practice report, 4/3
Hey everyone. Practice has ended. Here's what we learned:
- DT Mike Blanc said his father, who lives in Haiti, wasn't able to communicate with his family here in the states for a good while after the earthquake there on Jan. 12. Mike said it was chaos down there. His father is fine now, though, living with an aunt and aiming to make a jump to Bahamas. Port-au-Prince, the Haitian capital, is basically toast. The Blancs have family in Bahamas, so that may become their new place.
- Mike Blanc was born in south Florida and his mother lives there now.
- We received differing reports on S Mike McNeil's health today. Coach Gene Chizik said, of course, that McNeil is basically 100 percent. Assistant coach Tommy Thigpen said McNeil often performs well during the first half of practices, but begins limping during the second half. It's apparent to me that McNeil remains a work in progress physically.
- McNeil suffered a compound fracture of his left leg almost exactly one year ago. Coaches are hopeful he will re-emerge as a starter in time for the 2010 season.
- Thigpen seemed higher on fellow S Aairon Savage, whom he praised for showing a "burst" of acceleration that hadn't been there before. Savage is attempting a comeback after losing two seasons to torn knee ligaments.
- Emory Blake said it's important for him to finish the spring as the No. 3 receiver -- or in an even bigger role. ``You want the coaches to be thinking about you."
- Auburn will scrimmage on Saturday. Chizik is bringing in officials to create authenticity.
- WR Darvin Adams didn't have much to say. He's looking to build on what was a strong 2009, though he wasn't named to the All-SEC team. Adams said the snub doesn't bother him anymore.

FSJ, I figured that but as the only walmartian on here you have to defend yourself at all times.
So I take it that you like the ipad?
Trooper Taylor's vague reference to a PPL injury today: "He probably made as many plays as anybody. I don't know how he is as far as injuries and stuff like that. He's one you're always going to have to monitor because he tore that knee up before"
That may not be 100% accurate transcription, but it's close. Courtesy of the video provided by Andy Bitter
The praise of PPL is surprising to me. With the talent we have at WR, it really says something. I wasn't thinking he would be in the mix at WR, but possibly at PR.
Andy Bitter has updated his site and referenced The Auburn Sports Blog which reports that PPL was on crutches after practice.
Interesting things happened at the scrimmage. Apparently the two interceptions were by players I know little about, Ikeem Means and Blake Poole.
Steve, I think the track coach's son may try and fill that next wr slot. Does suck for Bart. It was great that he was getting the reps while Big Snacks heals up. Se live.
Anyone got baseball and/ or track updates? AUPPL is busy today, and track is largely ignored.
THT, no idea. I'm still shopping. My wife woke up this morning, told me she wanted me to have a new tv, gave me a budget, and sent me off. I'd prefer to save some money and get it online, but she prefers I buy it today. I'm stuck at plasma vs LED LCD....I looked at the 3D. It was neat, but really annoyed me more than it enhanced my viewing experience.
I can't imagine I would enjoy the 3D. Sounds more like a headache than a viewing pleasure.
I love reading the bleacher report. The articles are so positive and upbeat. I just read an article that said our runningback situation is much better than last season, which tickles me. We haven't had a new runningback arrive and we lost a runningback that will likely play some in the NFL.
Our running game could end up better, especially with an improved offensive line, but to say the runningbacks are better than last season at this point seems a bit delusional.
Offensively, it does seem the WR and QB positions will be the likely areas of improvement. Todd was an okay QB that got us by. Hopefully all the QBs will be better after having more time in this offense.
I would hold off a bit on the 3D TV. It could end up being just a fad and if it doesn't, the prices will drop.
I was looking at big screens the other day in walmart and it does look like their prices are already dropping a bit.
I am still being stubborn and sticking with my existing TVs.
For the size, the Mitsubishi HD projection tv can't beat. 77 inches of 108p for under 2 grand....I went with a 55inch Samsung 240hz 1080p LED LCD. Stoked.
In 5 years 3d tv will still be a rarity.
