Media Days: GEORGIA

GEORGIA
The coach is Mark Richt.

  • The SEC people already have warned us ... no questions about the NCAA inquiry.

  • On moving to a 3-4: "Players were asking, What position do I play? We're trying to get everybody in the right place. Now, We think we have them in the right place. It's about learning the position."

  • On Bobby Bowden not being a coach any longer: ``He won't be out of college football. He'll be at a lot of football games. Everybody wants him to be at their games."

  • On the next trend in college offense: "It'll be whatever the winning teams are using. I believe you can win running anything. The thing that's important is your personnel. If somebody does something and wins with it, wins on a consistent basis, people will gravitate to it."

  • He supports APRs associated with individual coaches being released. "Ours is going to be very good. We've done a great job with that."

  • On allegedly being on the hot seat: "I can control my attitude. I can control my effort. That's what I can control. The things I can't control? I trust in the Lord for that ... just as I have since 1986."

  • On Damon Evans' demise: "I'm very saddened by what happened."

  • That's a wrap.

  • BONUS A.J. Green says: "This team right here is pretty special."

  • BONUS A.J. Green says of ever traveling to Miami, Fla.: "I really can't comment on that issue right now."

  • "It's not my place to comment on that. I don't feel like I need to."

Chip: I don't know anything about anything ... aside from the fact that many more players were involved.

We've GOT to beat UGA this year. I can't take another thanksgiving like the last few.

so there won't be any questions for Richt?

i'm all about bucking protcol.

uga is gonna be salty if they find a qb.

don't ask about inquiries. Just ask about parties.

@ colorado is going to interesting for uga. hawkins is on life support at cu and could be dangerous at high altitude.

and AU apparently got a commit from a ft. lauderdale db last night or this morning. gaulden?

"Coach, it must be quite a complement to your program to have 4 players invited to the South Beach booty party. Are you able to use that as a selling point in recruiting?"

3-4... I think Richt is speaking in code about the number of Miami partiers he's got. You've got to watch that coachspeak for the clues!

I'm with Chip on UGA ... they'll be good if a quarterback steps forward and A.J. Green remains eligible.

10:05 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

chip chip - where you see that?

Wouldn't we rather have Roberson than Gaulden? Who's reporting that one or the other committed?

10:09 AM
Blogger chip chip said...

the ncaa is going to be putting in some overtime between now and the end of august if 50-75 players might be involved.

uga can be good without a qb. see bammer. if all you have to do is turn around and hand it off 70% of the time and throw jump balls to hoolio how good do you need to be? the margin of error increases the better your d is. uga could be in that position this year if the d dramatically improves.

I call a "Hoopie Foul" on chip chip for rampant speculation. I don't think anyone would be committing during media days...all the media are in bammerham.
Said foul to be dismissed pending substantiation of the commitment claim.

gaulden

buffalo, duke and wake were some other choices according to his profile on the pay sites.

10:14 AM

nothing rampant about that!

Headed to Auburn. You gents have a beautiful day.

BTW, where is PF? I know he put in a quick appearance the other day, but I miss that boy and his comments.

10:17 AM
Blogger API said...

So if Duke and Wake were the other offers, I'm assuming that qualifying won't be a problem.

10:17 AM
Blogger chip chip said...

wisconsin was also on his offer list.

I hope Richt wins SECe this year, and loses to AU twice.

Late checking in for the puffery and inanity. Is today looking as interesting as yesterday? No interesting characters on board until Spurrier then we'll get interesting.
No NCAA questions...what fun is that.
congrats Scottie B---opt for the dinner if you know what's good for you.

Is that a fill in teh blank question, JGT?

LET'S PARTY!!!

I can't confirm if Gaulden has an offer. My guess is that he has a conditional offer ... not really on board at this point.

Hey, Hotties!

Speaking of Bammers' qb, I heard Mcelroy on Finebaum yesterday. He said that AU's preparation for the Iron Bowl last year was "off the charts," and that they (AU players) were everywhere. He also said that the Tigers played like they were possessed. His view went against the claim that Bammer had an off day.

He also said that his granddad is an Auburn grad and gives him a hard time about playing for Bama.

He is applying for a Rhodes scholarship. It would be neat if AU and UA had Rhodes scholars at the same time. We already have one, you know.

10:44 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Hey ephemeral! Those are interesting comments. Did he say he has already resigned himself to a beating in the 2010 Iron Bowl? I know AU will win the IB this year, so maybe he does too.

I'm guessing UNC Austin has finished his college football career. Folks like Dareus may get suspended for a game or two, like he may miss the Ga State game.

I'm just rampantly speculating based on no particular knowledge of the facts.

scout lists gaulden has an AU offer. rivals has apparently crashed and their page will not load after numerous attempts. that's all i know. i'm surprised as well that none of the usual suspects are reporting his AU commit. what he said in that article sure sounded like a commit. maybe he could not get in touch with the usual guys since they are eyeball deep in media daze.

10:58 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Gaulden- I'm not thinking he has a firm offer on which he could commit to. I could be wrong, but based on what I see, I think that is the case.
