SNAPSHOTS: Ziemba has seen agent runners at Auburn

Hey everyone. In talking with Lee Ziemba today, he said something very interesting.

The senior said he's seen agent runners, the guys who do an agent's dirty work, around campus before. How does he know them?

"They usually introduce themselves," Ziemba said.

Isn't that weird?

``You know who you're dealing with," he said, ``and you also know those rules. Not a lot goes unnoticed around Auburn. We know what's going on, what the rules are. Auburn does a great job of telling us."

***********

Josh Bynes said the team has adopted an interesting theme this season.

Eight ain't it.

What does it mean? Strength and conditioning coach Kevin Yoxall developed the phrase to remind players to strive for more than eight wins this season.

``Eight ain't it because eight ain't going to get you nowhere," Bynes said. ``Eight wins might get us to an Outback Bowl or a Champs Sports Bowl. That's not our plan this year. The games we lost -- Georgia, Alabama and Kentucky -- that easily could have changed our season to 11-2. That could have put us in the one of the BCS bowls. Obviously, we didn't finish strong enough. That's why we have to do a better job finishing because eight definitely ain't it."

***********

Ziemba said he looked into the possibility of buying private insurance to protect himself (financially) in the event of injury. One glance at the informational handout ended that idea.

``The premiums are extremely high," he said. ``And it only covers you where you can't play the game again -- not an ACL injury or something like that. I'd have to get a second job (to pay the premiums). I looked at the NCAA policy, too, but once I saw the private premiums, I was like: No."

***********

Bynes was asked about newcomers who have impressed him.

His list included CB Jonathan Mincy, LB/DE LaDarius Owens, LB Jake Holland, DL Jeffrey Whitaker and DL Kenneth Carter.

``(Mincy) has come in and understands a lot of the stuff," Bynes said. ``He's been out there doing his thing. Defensive line, Whitaker and Carter. Carter, for his size, can run. When we do a lot of our sprints, he's up in the front because he can run for his size."

Wow, where'd everyone go? Y'all must be having a more exciting night than I. Just lying on the couch watching the Braves. (Down 0-2 to the Marlins in the 5th)

Have the Marlins always had "Los Marlins" on their uniform? I just noticed that tonight.

And Prado just hit a solo homerun, so it is now 1-2 Marlins.

I don't have a problem with the Marlins or Suns having Spanish on their uniforms. There is a large enough Spanish speaking population in both Miami and Phoenix that they aren't really asking anyone to change as showing appreciation for ALL of their fans, not just the intolerant white ones.

That being said, English is the accepted predominant language in America, official or not. It's hard to succeed without knowing it. You don't want success, don't learn it. Bama fans choose not to, too.

PF, I hope your little comment last night wasn't directed at me. If so then we have issues. Believing in America, it's long standing values and culture is not intolerance my friend. Every time a "white" person says something that just happens to involve another race then they are racist and intolerant. Those two terms are far too often misused.

Jet, I have always heard the debates between charcoal and gas grill owners. He said the flavor all comes from the seasoning you use and how the juice drips onto the heat source.

jet, if you can only use the burners on the far side of the grill on lowest setting, you should be relatively ok. i know you are too far in to make much difference now, but 200-225 wrapped in foil should do the trick. you would probably have just as good of luck in the oven.

the charbroil guy is correct about the drippings hitting the heat source. i also put a pan of apple juice and beer in there for extra moisture. i only use charcoal (weber or green egg) for smoking.

i'm thawing out a broccoli and cheese rice stuffed deboned chicken from hebert's meats in LA for tonight. thaw 1 hr 15 min in oven. done. the easy way out but tasty nonetheless.

I had completely forgotten about Cotton.

As far as McClouth goes, something has to give with him. He struggled late last year, then hit less than .100 in spring training and even running full speed into Jason Heyward couldn't knock any sense into him.

The game today doesn't fall on him because the Braves had 4 other AB's with the bases loaded and only got 1 run on a sac fly, but you knew in the 11th he wasn't driving in that run.

They sent down a guy hitting .200 points higher than him to make the room on the roster.

Getting Masoli would be like shopping in someone else's garbage. I am glad it isn't us.

you children translates your children :)

My kids have a Nana and a Mimi. Granny is always a good option though.

Morning Hotties.

I'm supposed to be in NoCal this week but my vendor had to reschedule their work at my customer to next week. So I'll be in NoCal next week. Now of course you don't give two rips about any of that, but since the good folks at Delta charged me (ultimately my customer) $150 to change my travel I wonder if I should tell my management to hit up our vendor for reimbursement. We'll probably just eat it. So anyway,

ehyou,
My Mom is Nana, so I can't be that. And, I'm sorry, but I am just not a GRANNY! :)

One was Grandmother (by her request). The other was Grandma. Both grandfathers were Grandad.

Norm,
That's a major reason I use Southwest whenever possible. Of course, they don't have Business class so that long flight might feel a little cramped but even on the rare occasion I flu for business the gov won't spring for business class.

just for kicks i played AU vs. Arkansas State on the new NCAA11 (courtesy of mrs. scottie) last nite. beat 'em 70-0. Neiko Thorpe had 3 INTs, returned 1 for a TD, had a sack & a fumble recovery.

just sayin'. ;)

Nova- Southwest is no option here in Atlanta. I wish it was, but not right now nor the foreseeable future.

Scottie- How many wildcat yards rushing did Kodi have....the correct answer better be zero!

7:56 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

exactly Eddie. zero. they did make him a pretty decent receiver, though. had over 100 yards receiving & a TD, though.

they made Onterrio the main ball carrier, though. Fannin mainly comes in during wildcat sets.

Maybe they could call me Hottie :)

that would be AUsome Cincy. oh, how was your trip to auburn last week?

It was wonderful, scottie. Just too short. I can't wait until I can go back. Football season can't get here fast enough!

We're trying to think of my grandmother name, and the hotties aren't being much help!

And, it is only 40 days until Auburn football!!!

Scottie,

Good comeback game for Thorpe, paying back Arkansas for picking on him last year.

8:51 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Never mind, I thought you said Arkansas, not Arkansas State.

I think both Neiko and Blake are going to have awesome years. Just my thought.

My grandchildren will call me nothing because they will not exist because I have expressly forbidden my children from having sex. (I'm not, why should they?) If any male attempts to touch my daughter, I will impale them on a spear. Having raised my son, I think I have come to the conclusion him procreating is a bad idea.

how about 'Momma Cincy'? i had a Me-Maw & a Maw-Maw. my wife had a Mi-Mi & Gami.

no human kids for me & mrs. scottie. we'll stick to the furry four-legged kind we can name after former AU All-Americans.

A hot Monday morning, Hotties!

Enough about the obvious.

Cincy: Granny and Pap-pap, Muzzy and Pop. (My brother and I called my mother "Muz," as well as Mother.)

I can't believe it's almost time for football. Unfortunately there is more non-football time than football time. It always goes by too quickly.

playing the ps3 all weekend helped my fix a bit. excited to see the real thing, though. real excited.

9:45 AM

I can't believe the Arkansas State game is going to be televised. Back in ancient times, we only got to see Auburn on TV once or twice a year. The world has definitely changed.

10:02 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

I'm ready for a football fix as well. JG's practice reports will do until the real thing.

I was looking at the schedule and I'm probably going to have to find an Internet solution for the Ark State game. FSN isn't up here.

10:03 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

where are u at Nova?

10:07 AM
Blogger E-Bro said...

Not a local Auburn club up your way NoVa? That's always a good way to watch Auburn games instead of over the internet.

Arky St at AU will be available via ESPN GamePlan.

Blogger chip chip said...

if AU gets the chance to put up 60 on arky st, do you do it?

with subs of course, but do you run them off the field to make a statement?

does AU score 50+ on an sec opponent this year?

i watched the a-day game again last night and i'm getting a little optimistic.

10:09 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

I just had to upgrade the DISH package to include the U and FSN. A small price to pay for wall to wall coverage of AU football.

Nothing says 'I want some tuna' quite like Star Wars.

10:10 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

They could possibly put 60 up on Ark State as we we able to put up tons of points in non-conference games last year.

50 against an SEC opponent is rare in any day and age, so I don't see it happening.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

"I was like, 'Man, we're in the category with Southern Cal and Florida,' " Quinn said. "Two big programs and North Carolina, so I guess with all this craziness going on, that's a good thing. We must be doing something right."

^ Current UNC player being quoted in this article, which also reports that coaches are telling recruits that UNC won't be affected, just the involved players.

i'm positive george lucas produced and directed. he looooooooves his tuna & canned fish products.

10:14 AM
Blogger chip chip said...

i'm thinking AU starts putting up some big point totals this year. even in sec play. by "big" i mean 30+ regularly. i watched a lot of the film on that malzhan offense breakdown and opposing defenses were completely confused much of the time. even bammer's top ranked d was helpless when AU executed. now that they have a year in the offense and the personnel to run it at full pace without subbing as much, that is going to be a mother to stop when the d starts getting winded. newton or trotter (even caudle) having a real threat to run and increased vertical passing game threat is going to be tough to defend.

10:22 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

I hope you are right chip chip, but it would require a 1st year SEC starting QB to step up big time as one of the most efficient QB's in the conference.

It would also require playcalling that adapts to defensive adjustments.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

at risk of getting too excited, I'm going to take the I'll believe it when I see it approach.

10:26 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

I agree THT.

Blogger ehyou said...

All true Chip. The "when AU executes" part is the linchpin though.

10:28 AM

that should have said "rather than risk getting too excited..."

Cincy,

My kids have a Ma-Ma and a Graham (pronounced "Gram" - I don't know why she spells it that way).

Are grandchildren imminent or are you just getting ahead of the game?

THT, the "Chocolate Finger" dude is only a problem if you are buying high cocoa content chocolate. For my business, most of the time that is not the case.

Scottie, as the name says, I'm in Northern Virginia/DC area.

There is a fairly large Auburn Club but the sports bar they meet at for games isn't really large enough for the crowd.

Unless you can now pay by the game, isn't a good model either.

10:37 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

Gameplan isn't a good model. Need to start proofing these things.
