Getting Our Bearings

Hey everyone. So as you have surmised, I was asked (politely) to make Wednesday my last day of work at the Advertiser. Nobody should be upset with the Advertiser; they are keeping to their word and sending me on my way with what they agreed to give me. No hard feelings.

I am hopeful that Brian Woodham, who recently left a part-time gig with ITAT to take a full-time job as a copy editor at the Advertiser, will be given an opportunity to take my old job. Brian would be a great addition. I'll let you know if I hear anything about that.

As I explained on Facebook, we will have a board at AuburnSports.com with a stricter standard when it comes to cussing and any off-putting shenanigans. Personally, I'm good with the Bunker and have read it for a long time. They get a little upset when things don't go well, which is understandable, but I feel like that board's reputation for savage commentary far exceeds reality.

With that said, we will have a HABOTN-esque board over there for people whose tolerance for cussing is at zero. Just want to make that clear.

I'll be starting at AuburnSports.com on Monday.

Take care, errybody. Thanks as always for your support!

That was a crazy class of RBs. Dyer and Seastrunck both ended up fizzling out. Lattimore ended up being the real jewel of that class. Sad that he had all those injuries. Makes you wonder if he had gone some where else, if it would have ended differently for him.

Looked through about the top 10 backs in that class. Only a couple are on NFL squads and none have made any major contributions.

So we arrive and AU already leads ua-t 3-0. We (me and someone, maybe LB) pull up (in our car) to the sideline to watch the game in front of us. Hugest video board in the world faces us from the other sideline, showing replays of the game as it unfolds. There is 9:42 in the first qtr and ua-t takes possession on their 20 yd line. First down snap dropped as QB tried to roll right. Before he could get back to it, AU #27 dove on it! FIRST DOWN AU on the ua-t 11. Ugh, I think why not the 5 or the 15. We need a TD, not settle for FGs. On the replay video, the play unfolds differently. This time, the QB picks up dropped snap but is separated from the ball by #10, Owens (rats, he's already graduated... this isn't working out) before #27 recovers. I jump out of the car acting like a 6 year old, doing a happy dance and repeatedly proclaiming, "I LOVE AUBURN, I LOVE AUBURN!" Apparently, a TV time-out followed so I woke up to go potty. I sure hope we stomped them. GO TIGERS!!!

I don't want to live more than my fair share of days, but if I had my druthers, I'd prefer to move to Winston-Salem, Pittsburgh, or Auburn rather than to Western Ford Gateway.

I just knew sooner or later that Zeke Pike would be AU's starting QB. Now's his chance!

MrsTHT and I survived our hike to the summit of Medicine Bow Peak. The climb nearly killed my lungs. The descent nearly killed my knees. MrsTHT could have turned around and scampered to the top again without breaking a sweat. I could not have taken another step.

I'll have a double cheeseburger, plain, please.

Just doing my obligatory 6-mth checkin to say hello to the THTs. Are you ready for some football? I'm officially retired 9/1 and the timing could not have been more perfect. Hope to see y'all at Cincys this year.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Hi Kathy,

I guess by the time you read this in 6 months, you'll know whether or not you saw us at Cincy's this year. Retirement sounds like a lot of fun. Something I'll probably never experience.

We are getting so close! I know when Mrs. THT and my birthday roll around, it is time for some Auburn football. Can't wait to see all of you at the Cincy Compound this season. Well, most of you. You know who you are.

Speaking of which, I'm still waiting for my double cheeseburger.

Marlon Davidson, one of the top football prospects in the country, made his commitment to Auburn on Friday morning at Greenville High School. Davidson did say he was going to leave the door open for other schools.

from Drew Champlin of al.com

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Sounds like Davidson is pretty serious about his commitment.

And I'm pretty serious about keeping an even-numbered post count.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

ok, I'm not pretty. I'm not even serious.

Kiehl sure looked rough this weekend. But the coaches have been raving about him, so I'm sure all those bad throws were an aberration.

12:15 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I never thought I'd say it, but I think we need to concentrate more on running the wildcat with Dontae Aycock. I haven't looked at any AU news or stats since the game ended. Not sure I want to now that the whole season has gone down the toilet.

4:44 PM
Blogger michael said...

What are our chances of winning this weekend, THT?

12:09 PM
Blogger THT said...

I stopped by your mom's booth at the farmer's market to buy an old map. She didn't have one, so I bought some okra instead. We got to talking about the game and she said "it's in the bag." I said, "Hot dog! We're going to win?!" She said, "I don't know, but your okra is in the bag." I interpreted that to mean we have a 98.97% probability of winning this weekend.

11:08 PM
Blogger ArtVanDelay said...

for awhile that 1.03% was huge!

almost as big as the percentage of you eating okra and an onion.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Still ranked?! Obviously, there are a lot of AP voters who remain unaware that the emperor has no clothes.

3:12 PM
Blogger michael said...

Wrong. I have clothes, I just choose not to wear them.

2:57 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

You'll have to remind me again the domain (probably some nefarious dot.com) over which you are emperor. Or did you get a promotion from being Queen of HABOTN?

Unlike my daughter, who loves prime numbers and whose favorite number is 59 (I'm such a simpleton, I didn't even realize that two digits were allowed), I am not a fan of odd numbers.

However, I am a huge fan of a palindromic post number, especially when it features...

"It's time to go get 'em Braves". Unfortunately, I think he said that far more frequently than, "It's time to hold 'em Braves".
