I don't expect national writers to get everything right about a team, but at least be close. From espn.com's analysis of the game:
"Hatch must do a great job of recognizing the blitz and locating hot reads, and LaFell and Byrd must use their quickness to beat physical coverage from Auburn CBs Jerraud Powers and Aairon Savage."
and:
"Auburn is entrusting its kicking duties to a relatively inexperienced pair of sophomores in PK Wes Byrum and PT Clinton Durst."
Huh. Aairon Savage hasn't played this year and I'm pretty sure that Wes Byrum is not inexperienced. Also, isn't Durst a freshman?
It makes me wonder if I should trust anything they say. Am I being to picky?
that sounds like a preview from a video game.
You're not being picky.
Clinton Durst is a redshirt freshman.
That's pretty dang pitiful.
And no, I don't think you should listen to them all that much. There opinions are worth less than ours. At least we know who is playing and who isn't.
in the miss. state game, the announcers kept saying that pugh was moved to center because of his injured shoulder and bosley was covering for him at tackle. i'm pretty sure the opposite is true. just goes to show you....in an unrelated note, it was my impression that, given the amount of flack jgt apparently receives for his weight, he must bear a resemblance to david housel. video evidence did not confirm this. what's up with the hate in that regard?
I used to be quite large.
I slimmed down in 2004.
Some people don't change with the times. Read: Longshore, John.
I rewatched the MSU game, before making room on the DVR for College Gameday in the morning, this afternoon. Mark Scott also noted in the first quarter that Brad Lester was the leading AU rusher this year coming into the game. Bob Davies made the exact same comment about Ben Tate in the third quarter. Davies was right.
One of them (I can't remember which one) also called Billing, Dontrez Billings. I also heard someone say Mariel Fanning. Thoses guys are idiots. I noticed the Pugh-Bosley mix up too. At least they were consistent about it throughout the entire game. They made reference to the situation about 5 times during the game and every time, they had it wrong.
John Longshore's your typical Alabamuh "fayan" with some air time.
P Msrshall-
Petey Smith, Eric's brother, is neck and neck Auburn vs. Alabama in the recruiting war.
Rivals-
Petey Smith gives Alabama an edge.
Petey's the #4 inside LB in the nation. Not sure why but he is. He's big and he can hit. But he doesn't run from sideline to sideline like his brother could.
Great vids!
Moon is one funny guy.
Longshore is an assclown. Why anyone tunes in to listen to that guy is beyond me.
Montez sounded like a banker, circa 1950s TV, the way he said "Hello Fellas."
I was surfing around the internet while I listened to the audio from the video playing in another tab (not as complicated as that awkward sentence sounds). When that came on, I had to rewind to figure out who said it, cause i surely didn't sound like something coming out of a college football player, much less one with dreads and gold teeth.
I got a kick out of it.
He was already close (after such things as the sack Hatch to feel smarter quip), but is now definitely my favorite current Auburn player to see/hear interviewed.
That actually was Antonio Coleman.
Gonetez Billings would never say something like that. He's way too reserved.
ha. whoops. just call me an espn analyst for not paying any attention at all to what I was typing.
On the subject of mixing up names: I once called a girlfriend by my previous girlfriend's name. I'm pretty sure I ended up with another ex-girlfriend with that slipup.
Coleman is a good guy. And he's a guy the bammers in Mobile refer to as "thug". Not even close. Look down in Foley for that. Oh, wait! That's Tuscaloosa now.
I'm now on twitter. interesting stuff....
Gameday is upon us. I'm excited and nervous from 12 hours away, wishing I was in Auburn. Should be a good game tonight. War Damn Eagle!
