A look-ahead to recruiting

FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Post No. 1,198

Hey everyone. Thanks for being patient with me today. It's my daughter's birthday and I was in charge of present procurement. Some recent revisions rendered my (hard-fought) Wii Fit moot. Other merchandise was considered more coveted and useful.

That's where I come in.

Anyway, we'll probably spend plenty of time this summer talking about recruiting. A lot of that talk will surround Auburn's needs and how closely the team's top targets dovetail with those needs.

So let's take a look at where Auburn's current scholarship allocation chart, which (theoretically) will give us some clarity when it comes to identifying the Tigers needs.

Here is where Auburn is right now. New signees aren't yet included.

RED is for players who won't play next season.
PURPLE is for players whose status is in doubt for whatever reason.

lions best play in 2009:

stafford to johnson: go deep. i'm gonna throw it as far and as high as i can. jump up and get it.

johnson: ok.

i hope detriot doesn't pick any AU players.

cincy has historically been the AU career killer in the draft. they are, after all, bengals (like the corndogs) not tigers. the ones i can remember them taking are: willie anderson, takeo spikes, rudi johnson, kenny irons & pat sims. even the good ones disappeared into the dumpsterfire that is the bengals.

11:42 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

It's getting hard to remember when teams actually wanted the #1 pick in the draft. Now most teams seem to want to trade down, but usually find no takers. That huge contract can set a team back for years if the player doesn't pan out.

The cool thing is that even with 175,000 knuckle-draggin' necks gathered in one place, Saban won't be the most beloved person there.

I went to a Lacrosse game last night and AU plays as #1 seed this evening so I'll go to that one too. I have no idea what's going on in that game but it's alot of fun to watch. College guys running around the field chasing after a ball & getting beat on by sticks and getting laid out as cold as a block of ice. That's some pretty good stuff right there.
