A look-ahead to recruiting
FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Post No. 1,198
Hey everyone. Thanks for being patient with me today. It's my daughter's birthday and I was in charge of present procurement. Some recent revisions rendered my (hard-fought) Wii Fit moot. Other merchandise was considered more coveted and useful.
That's where I come in.
Anyway, we'll probably spend plenty of time this summer talking about recruiting. A lot of that talk will surround Auburn's needs and how closely the team's top targets dovetail with those needs.
So let's take a look at where Auburn's current scholarship allocation chart, which (theoretically) will give us some clarity when it comes to identifying the Tigers needs.
Here is where Auburn is right now. New signees aren't yet included.
RED is for players who won't play next season.
PURPLE is for players whose status is in doubt for whatever reason.

Dinner tomorrow night at the Hangar ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv8yEMRDe_w
This ... is ... a ... revelation ... from ... above.
This is some wimpy Friday night posting! Come on, Hotties!
that was code for my frustration on not scheduling UCLA.... UCLA is always good to strike up some conversation.
jet will show up shortly to lecture us on behalf of jay jacobs.
I love her!!
oh, nevermind, there you are jet
Sorry Mon. Just walked in the door. Caught the turning of the page.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUboTwQK4bo
"makin love to my tater"
what a perv
Speaking of food, I will give you all a review of Bradley's Pit Bar-B-Q in Sweetwater, TN on Sunday.
Tomorrow, Roxy, Gabby, Greg and I will be picking up lunch at Bradley's and then traveling to the Athens Regional Park for a serious picnic with Amelia and her parents and her grandmother! I can't wait.
Are you calling Paula a perv?
This coming from a guy in a towel with a dog?
indeed
Thank you, AU!!!
he's just hatin
Hell of a roadtrip Mon!
HA, those are basketball shorts
He's trying to one up DL.
That's funny I thought it was a towel. HA
AU1 we'll put in about 12 hours road time plus a couple of hours at the park. Worth it to see my babygirl, baby sister and get Muthah up here to WV for a nice long visit.
barkley you look like you're about 16 years old!
Sorry, Barkley
Ain't biting. Feeling satisfied from a bowl of ice cream and a brownie.
i'mm 14, i guess i look older
Well that seems very worth it!!
AU! I'll tell Dirty a special hello from you.
who is dirty? am i too young to know that?
Setting the coffee for the a.m. - Ipanema Bourbon, a Brazilian blend from Starbucks.
If it takes 1/3 as good as it smells, it will make an accompaniment to the Paula Deen breakfast burger.
Can the Braves hold on? What a sad Friday night for me. I'm reduced to watching the Braves.
I hate 1 run games on the road...
Yes Please Do!! If you have to ask who is Dirty, you can't know.
Sean...I laugh at your picture because my son had a baseball game tonight. There was a gopher in CF and he tripped in a gopher hole.
Braves fans want me to watch them ... I haven't seen them lose this year.
Well Jet there is definitely another one on tomorrow night!
Greg says he would ACTUALLY eat that donut breakfast burger thing! ack!
Mon,
I'll see Greg's one, and raise him one.
no no no no I don't believe either of you!
Gimme a half dozen!
Sean ...
Name that tune.
We had an earthquake today and I didn't even know it. I hate missing out on the good stuff.
Jet, I'm not catching on to the tune...
I'm thinking about that Bacon and Egg burger on Krispy Kreme, and wondering if Paula fries the egg too hard, and wonderin' "Where's the cheese?"
You say 6 ... Sean ... eat 'em up, boy.
We're watchin' ya.
beef, egg and bacon isn't enough?
Keep an eye out for YouTube!
Enough?
It's just a good start.

oops I didn't know that was an R rated version.
Boone County mating call is pretty funny.
monica, does my age have any effect on our future together?
zero effect, bark
Heard some Gadsden-UAT talk today from someone who isn't into hyperbole about a booster being disassociated.
Wonder if FSJ is hearing any rumblings in his neck of the woods.
spill it
fsj knows all about it. he was contributing to dre kirkpartrick's salary
I've figured it out ...
FSJ = Fake Summer Jobs
Faker has been oddly quiet
Jet, I had a conversation with a relative of a player from Gadsden at the A-Day game. Do you know anything about the DB I am talking about? His family seemed impressed with Chizik and Auburn.
Depressed... can't say I do ... but I'm hearing good things about the kid form Ariton ... think he's a DL ... and expect good news from LaDarious Owens, as well.
Guys, if Stafford is worth a fraction of that then I'll eat my damn shoes. Good grief. That is why the are the Lions. Gag.
Goodnight to the land of the Hottilicous.
Big EZ ...
My sense is that your diet will be shoeless, at least on Matt Stafford's account.
May I recommend to you the always tasty bacon and egg burger on Krispy Kreme glazed?
Later HOTTITES.
i'm an sec fan, but i'd take sanchez over stafford
What if Sanchez is dirty?
dude he's a mexican, i already took that into account
Peter King is reporting on SI.com that the Lions and Stafford have reached agreement on a six-year deal with 41.7 million dollars guaranteed.
lions best play in 2009:
stafford to johnson: go deep. i'm gonna throw it as far and as high as i can. jump up and get it.
johnson: ok.
i hope detriot doesn't pick any AU players.
cincy has historically been the AU career killer in the draft. they are, after all, bengals (like the corndogs) not tigers. the ones i can remember them taking are: willie anderson, takeo spikes, rudi johnson, kenny irons & pat sims. even the good ones disappeared into the dumpsterfire that is the bengals.
It's getting hard to remember when teams actually wanted the #1 pick in the draft. Now most teams seem to want to trade down, but usually find no takers. That huge contract can set a team back for years if the player doesn't pan out.
another day, without a doughnut.
finally home after an 18 hour work day; I feel like I spent it with a pugilist.
howzabout somebody give me the Cliff notes version of today (i.e. yesterday now) in HABOTNville
Jet:
Haven't heard anything up here about a booster. I read something on ITAT, but I lump that in with the stuff I would read on Tiderinsider.
GCHS does have a DB that will be recruited off of next year's team. Believe he is or will be a 4*...
fsj,
just kidding about the salary contributions..... i think
good night to all the hotties out there, or not out there as he case may be. SteveFC, I'm fading too fast. You'll be on your own if you're here.
Jhag from Dallas/Plano Texas
Scottie B.... I saw the discussion about the HABOTN hat...
If my vote counts for anything, I'd vote for the campfire/flame logo on the front and HABOTN on the back...
Trotter should likely be purple, with a redish hue to him.
Morniin' Hotties!
just finished watching Clark Howard's show on HN. I don't know why I enjoy that show when all it does is make me feel like a total idiot. I mean, the guy had made a fortune by age 31. I'll be working til I'm 80 :-(
jhag - take no prisoners! good luck to you and your team.
SteveFC - re: Trotter, I wasn't sure if you were referrring to his chance of playing or the color of his knee. I knew I could count on you to be here after I signed off.
Hotties, while y'all finish up your beauty sleep, I'm going to head on down to Sutton's Drug Store for a plate of eggs/bacon/grits/biscuit or a 1/3 lb bacon cheeseburger. We'll wash it down with a diet cherry coke (from the fountain with cherry syrup added YUM!)
Been lurking all week, but just had to comment! Jet, thanks for making me spit out my coffee and wipe my eyes....not the Paula Deen but then ! had to watch the Rachel Ray farting! I had not seen it but when it came to Drew, I almost fell out of my seat! thanks for the morning wakeup!
Jay- I know I tell you this occasionally but this thread deserves an atta boy...Nice work..truly professional stuff there man..Thanks
I have a feeling that Sanchez is "Dirty", one way or another. What kills me about Marky is that every highlight on him, the receivers are so open it's ridiculous. I dunno, but I don't like drafting HYPE.
Hey Jay, and all Hotties going to Talladega, heard Saban was the Grand Marshall Sunday. Guess he is use to being in front of 100,000 rednecks!
The cool thing is that even with 175,000 knuckle-draggin' necks gathered in one place, Saban won't be the most beloved person there.
EARNHARDT!!!
And that will kill him. Just kill him.
that's funny..I'll be there..i'll make sure not to look directly at him for fear of instant death!!
Or it could be Bubba, from Rick and Bubba, there are 2 conflicting reports.
Racing is not my thing, but I understand it is very, very popular. I know there will be a lot of sure 'nuff red necks on Monday, if they left that sun screen at home.
OK. This is how much I know about this racing weekend. Apparently Bubba is today, and Saban tomorrow's?
Well today is the formerly known as Busch Series and tomorrow is the Sprint, tomorrow is the bigger of the two.
Well rats. West Ham lost ugly 1-0 to Chelsea.
Watch out Jay GT, Chelsea is hot on the heels of Man. U.
I did my good deed for the day ... went to Hobby Lobby with Mrs. Jet.
Looked at 47 variations of the same thing to go on the mantle on the fireplace. Which looks better?
In the Shoppes at Hell, there's a Hobby Lobby ... and a Kirkland's ... and a Michael's.
Michael's... that's painful.
Not to be confused with Michael.
If the NASCAR fans cheer louder for Earnhardt than they do Saban, will he blast the fans Monday for their lack of enthusiasm?
He'll say something like ...
"Commitment is a 365 day job, aight. We like to think we're committed, but did we have 175,000 show up for the latest game. That's commitment, aight. They're still worshipping a dead leader, aight. Nevermind. I'm just sayin' there's commitment, and then there's committment, aight. They got it, and we don't. So next spring, I want to see your commitment, aight."
Afternoon (here it's afternoon)Hotties - I've just gotten off the phone with Mrs. Gatiger and she and the cub are on the road headed home 2 days early. I'm pretty pleased about that.
I went to a Lacrosse game last night and AU plays as #1 seed this evening so I'll go to that one too. I have no idea what's going on in that game but it's alot of fun to watch. College guys running around the field chasing after a ball & getting beat on by sticks and getting laid out as cold as a block of ice. That's some pretty good stuff right there.
Lacrosse = Hockey on grass.
Sorta.
Lotsa fun to watch guys with sticks.
The Bama fans worship of their head coach(doesn't matter who it is) has always fascinated me. Who can forget the famous "Got Shula? We Do!" t-shirt?
Hockey = Inuit Lacrosse
did someone say HOCKEY!?!?!?
PENS on nbc in 2 hours 20 minutes
GO PENS!!!! Please oh please don't let the flyers tie this series.
The hysterical thing to be me were the "S The Coach" that came out when Shula was there, particularly in 2005, then disappeared after the Brodie beatdown, then showed back up again after they hired Saban.
does anyone know anything about cadillac's condition and status in tampa?
i know he hurt a knee again at the end of last year but don't know which one or how seriously. i'd hate to see another great AU RB's career ended by injury.
The Bama fans always save the coach-sticker for when it comes back into style. I'm sure somewhere in the state there is a fan with a closet full of Mike Price memorabilia just waiting for the chance to show it off.
I still think wistfully about the thought of that idiot Price coaching UAT.
so..after May 2nd I will no longer be posting from the state of Alabama...I won't miss seeing the bama sticker..flags..trucks..houndstooth anything..ect..I hate bama..but I love Alabama as a state..gonna miss her...
Carnell tore his other patellar tendon. Don't know how severe it was compared to his first torn patellar tendon.
i would have loved seeing how the mike price thing played out.
Where ya gonna be, WarTiger?
wartiger, help this Hottie with the atrophied brain. Are you the one heading "up there"?
Jet, if we could have seen Price on the Bama sideline, we would have heard the "I'm a dumb-ass" line way before Tony Franklin used it. It hurts to think about what might have been.
Boston Public Library has a remarkable collection of antiquarian maps. That's where I'd be spending my spare time if I moved up there. I hope you enjoy it. I'm afraid my moving days are over.
Massachusetts..that's correct...
Tarheel- help this hottie out..what's a antiquarian maps?
Great adventure wartiger. Do it while your young. Come back and visit often!
We got Shula, so I guess I can't complain ... Price was so in over his head. It would have been fun to watch.
thanks Kathy..I will be visiting..don't know what's gonna happen..
ok sports fans. Breakfast (I chose the eggs/bacon/grits/biscuit/choc.milk/cherry diet coke) at Sutton's Drug Store was DEElicious, but it's about time for lunch.
I'll have THTjr and MissTHT in tow as we head to Sutton's for their totally yummylicious 1/3 lb bacon cheeseburgers.
adios

thanks for the info tht. dammit.
BPL Maps
THT ...
I don't have a map ... Do you know the way to San Jose?
I-65 to I-10 to I-5 will get you close
thanks for the link THT...
unless you meant Costa Rica
Just jestin' ya, THT ... remember the old song.
"Do You Know the Way to San Jose?"
yes, the song is fresh on my mind, unlike events of about 20 minutes ago.
CHEESEBURGER time. See y'all later.
Saw Coach Chiz today at a BBQ charity event here in AU. Everywhere he went he had armed security by his side, that was sorta weird.
Armed security at a BBQ charity event? In Auburn?
That's what I was gong to say depressedau
How can this be?
They were probably afraid the guy that heckled Jacobs at the airport would show up..
;-)
Jet, are you watching the Braves again?? They're putting on a clinic!
ugh. 1/3 lb bacon cheeseburger and fries and oreo choc shake on top of the big breakfast I ate has me tight as a tick. I need a transient case of bulemia.
No worries. If the Pens play like they did Thursday night I'll be tossing my cookies and everything else.
GO PENS!!!
FSJ - that made me chuckle. Not upchuck, mind you, just chuckle.
Hey ... the most dangerous places to be are between Hotties and a chance to blast Jacobs or a chance to get some quality BBQ.
Sean ...
I've been working in the yard ... I waited until noon to start so I could get the full value of the heat and sunlight.
Jet- I am such a wuss. I let THTjr and MrsTHT do the yard thing today.
