A-Day Basics
Hey everyone. Here are some numbers from A-Day, which you may or may not find significant.
PASSING
N. Caudle was 11-of-16 for 161 yards and 2 TDs.
K. Burns was 3-of-8 for 48 yards.
RUSHING
O. McCalebb had 2 carries for 75 yards, 1 TD
B. Tate had 4 carries for 72 yards
RECEIVING
D. Adams caught four balls for 103 yards, 1 TD
M. Fannin caught four balls for 71 yards
MVPs
Wes Byrum (special teams) ... hit a 46-yard FG
Michael Goggans (defense) ... two tackles, one sack
Ben Tate (offense) ... see above
RECRUITING FALLOUT
Our friends at AuburnSports.com and AuburnUndercover.com are reporting that Mississippi OL Shon Coleman has committed to the Tigers. He is the fourth player to make that leap. Coleman is 6-foot-7 and weighs 275 pounds. Players in the 2010 class aren't yet rated by the recruiting services, but I expect him to emerge as a three-star guy.

boom
We good?
no drops!! I was really hoping for a little more out of Kodi...dangit...
WAR EAGLE! just got back home in NC
Welcome home!
That's not the Olive Branch OL I was hoping for, but I guess we don't have to limit ourselves to just one!
Thanks, JGT. You da man!
Jay,
Totally OT...
Do you know anything about the extortion attempt on Rick Pitino?
It has been reported in the Commercial Appeal out of Memphis.
One other thing..
We need a punter...
and....Tiffin remains a mystery to me. Sometimes he gets on a roll and is automatic.
Other times he can't hit the broad side of a barn with his FG attempts.
I'd like to know about that, FSJ.
I'll be reading that momentarily!
Shoot, Faker,
I'd thought y'all won your 750th national championship after your earlier report.
There's a bit more in the Louisville Courier Journal.
Hey, JGT, remember when the CJ was one great newspaper?
It was so good to be in Auburn. The Toomer's limeade was especially tasty. I had just about given up hope of ever getting one that tasted as good as James Echols used to make.
that would have been 751 jet.
why and with what info would someone extort Rick Pitino?
Just wait Jet...
It's coming.
Have no idea Phred..
I found it to be extremely odd too.
this staff is bound to land some big names in 2010. if AU can pull off 9 or more wins, look out... however, i'm still in the 7-5 camp for now. too little depth at key positions to sustain more than a few injuries.
Phred ...
The blackmailer knows that Pitino killed Manolo for marrying his kid sister Gina, even though he warned him not to touch her. The blackmailer threatened to turn Pitino into the cops for Manolo's death. The cops are scared of Pitino after he killed the dirty cop, Mel Bernstein, in Frank Lopez's office. That's when Manolo killed Lopez at Pitino's order.
Pitino, though, took care of the problem blackmailer, and said, "Say hello to my little friend."
Trooper Taylor is so much fun to watch. He chest-bumped a player to the ground in warmups today.
Thin air in the upper deck, Faker?
Coleman committing has increase our chances of getting Robinson.
Two of his high school team mates have committed already. Make the leap!
I understand Trooper had the WRs running suicides after the game for violations of team policy regarding drops.
If this is so, I love Trooper even more.
has *to* increase, that is
Brother Jette,
The suicides were mere 5 yard and 1 ten yard sprint.
But in the words of a great athlete somewhere, a sprint is a sprint.
Hey guys, I'm reading through the aftermath...Jay, I hope your day was enjoyable. Caught a bit of the UA game, Saban looked goofy out there on the field in his suit...what's that about FSJ?
I can recall the days that 10 yards was a distance run for me.
I recall the days of running cross country. Now I can't even run cross the room.
AUMom ... the C-J sports guys are still pretty damn good. Some of them are my friends, though, so I'm biased.
Newspapers everywhere are getting gutted. It's a shame. You all will miss us when we're gone.
At least you aren't having runs... in your pants.
Sorry, I didn't mean to take it "there"
Y'all excuse me while I go get some ice cream and then crawl in bed. It's been a long day.
WAR EAGLE!!!
JGT, I thought about that actually.
Reading something online just isn't the same as getting it on paper. I can bet I am one of the only students that actually gets a paper delivered.
Jay, we lived in Louisville when the Courier Journal and the Times combined.
We were also there when the Binghams sold the paper (thanks for nothing, Sally). My reference was to that, not now.
I still read online. I am one of the few that still reads three newspapers a day (in print). I am doing my part.
ESPN has not reported anything on Pitino yet.
I still read the Courier Journal online...
I read the other 3 in print. Sorry, that was not clear.
AUMom ... now I see what you're saying. Things definitely have slipped since the Bingham days. That's been a few years, though.
YoungPJ: Thanks for the support!
SNL tonight has "The Best of Amy Poehler" from 10:30 until midnight. Is this possible?
something just does not feel right about taking my laptop into the bathroom to do my morning paperwork...only a newspaper will do. however, all i usually have access to the mobile mullet wrapper. woodbery does a decent enough job usually.
the best of amy poehler is contained in "Upright Citizens Brigade" which used to be on comedy central.
I like Evan's work. He has an appropriately critical eye, which draws undue criticism from sunshine pumpers.
I'm out for the night, peeps.
Take care and behave.
Woodbury is a Bammer alum, yes?
they will never replace the great Neal. on radio or in print.
Safe travels Jay to the Gizzle.
Some players are definitely rated. Also, Tate had 2 TDs. Must be why he was awarded the MVP.
That's why we've had two 5 stars in town for consecutive weeks...
Wartiger Kodi's numbers weren't great but he did lead the team to TDs in his first three drives. He also made a very nice deep pass that was dropped.
wartiger, in some ways Kodi was limited because of the sissy rule on the QBs. His running ability is a big part of his game.
i live on
fyi, i was pretty sure kodi's deep pass everyone thinks was dropped was actually slightly deflected by drew cole at the last second on the CSS replay. not that it makes much difference. it was still incomplete. i just don't think it was the WR's fault or kodi's. just a good play by the safety.
speaking of safety play, i saw thompson put a few licks on some people. i think we may have gudun' there.
gnite.
MORNIN.. 4 MONTHS UNTIL practice starts...
depth will be an issue next year and will probably cost us a game or 2...
The long wait begins.
I'm headed back to LA today.
Rain the whole way. Make it stop.
Is it Fall, yet?
Where depth issues will hurt is so obvious. OL, LB, and probably interior DL as well.
Will be interesting to see if Brandon Jacobs makes it to AU vs. pro baseball. And, will be enter into the LB rotation or play at the) position where we're blessed and still growing (two 5 stars look like leans).
Dee Ford. Will he enter into the LB rotation? Will he play a hybrid role - LB/DE? He's light for either position but an absolute standout wherever he's been.
Nick Fairley, can you be perfect?
Savage, Lykes, Wadley...don't know...
OL? Got nothing to talk about behind the first wave right now. Sullen looks to me like he'll need a year's worth of Yoxercise. Same with Moore.
Comment on Evan. I like him. He's always been gracious and accessible. I feel you get the real deal from an objective observer...well obviously. Yes, he graduated from UAT. The UAT grads I know aren't the grossly fake, grossly egotistical folks that base life's precious moment on college football Ws. The sidewalk alums. There's your issue.
Evan gives me what I want to read. And I know why.
Since our spring practice is over with one more practice, can we find out how BC's spring is going?
One more...
It's amazing what 5lbs of additional lean mass did to Mario's arms. Look at that pic on the front page. Good grief. Even his lower legs are unmistakably bigger. Remember, he's only a junior. Ronnie Brown wasn't a star until his senior season. He never had a legitimate shot or a full season to showcase his stuff until then.
Also, I think (I hope) Ben Tate is changing my mind about his speed. He definitely looked the 4.4 he's bragged about lately on that 45 yard scamper. Just a different stride altogether from him. He exploded. He's always seemed to have a good burst but it died out after about 20 actual yards. He was in fifth gear when he hit the 10 yard line yesterday on the long run. Looks promising.
*McCalebb is special. Enough said.
tate had to run 15 yards to the sideline last year before he started up field. by the time he got 20 yards down field, he had actually run about 35. if the play went to the short side, as usual, he was simply forced out of bounds. tate has alway been good going n/s.
it was kinda like jason campbell's lateral passing yards in 2003. he would throw a 25 yard pass across the field that netted about 3-5 positive yards. if "lateral" yards were included, he probably threw for 300+ a game that year.
i agree with DL.
AU will pay for its lack of depth in the loss column in 2009.
3-4 injuries at already thin positions or to QBs will put true freshmen on the field. and you all know what happens then...
jgt, if coleman starts being recruited by UAT or corndogU, he will gain the obligatory 4th or 5th star.
maybe he can play center for lebo too.
Chip, he definitely has a frame proportioned for a bball player. Athletic. Hope he puts on 20 or so in a year's time. If so, he'll at least look college ready.
Exactly right on Tate. That's why I used the term "actual" to refer to the yard he had to run to get to the LOS.
What a stupid year in '08. From top to bottom.
It has been pretty obvious throughout his career that Tate has great top end sped. He starts a little slower than some of the other guys. If he can make it to the second level untouched like he did at A-day, then watch out.
Wait Fannin is a redshift junior? Or Soph?
Marcus Lattimore's status is "War Eagle!!!!!!"
redshirt junior
ah.
Chizik is a large man
enjoy the silence....
I tried to watch the practice and type on here at the same time and didn't do a very good job of either.
I am going to watch it again tonight 6:00CDT on CSS and try to get more out of it.
We DVR'ed the game and my expectations have been jacked up a few notches. I was pretty impressed with what little bit they showed us. I love me some offense! Is it Sept. yet?
TarHeel, I can't believe you turned around and drove home after the game! I never would have made it.
Where the heck is everyone
Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes five-star Marcus Lattimore, rated the No. 2 RB in the country, was in Auburn this past weekend on a visit and left with the Tigers at the top of his list of favorites. Auburn leads for the standout back.
Ok a little ignorance on transfers...
is it possible to still get Juco transfers for the fall? I am thinking about the O line in particular...
Read this comment that Ryan Pugh made yesterday to someone while getting his autograph in response to a question asking him how he was liking it this year.
"It's a dream. Alot of hard work, but it's what we live for. And oh man, we love the new coaches. They work us but theyre great guys. We're having a good time."
DL, probably possible, but none AU would want to waste a scholly on at this point. All the good ones signed in feb. AU is just going to have to spin the wheel this year and hope for no injuries at OL.
based on pugh's comments, i think chizik understands the importance of team chemistry and everyone (coaches & players & trainers etc.) being on the same page. he saw what chemistry with talent can do at AU in 2004 and TX in 2005 first hand and is doing his best to duplicate that and sustain it at AU.
We all saw in 2008 what happens when that chemistry and direction is missing.
I hope we NEVER see another debacle like we had last year!!!
Am I dreaming? Hens the last time we even went afterthe top 3 rb's in the nation let alone they all have said auburn is their favorite and atop their list...what are they showing these kids about auburn that tubby didn't...wake me up if I'm dreaming but #1 Lache Seastrunk #2 Marcus Lattimore and #3 Michael Dyer
they are showing them something called an offense.
you know, that part of the team that throws passes and runs the ball and scores points? most WRs and RBs and QBs want to play in an offense.
tubby was never able to show recruits a viable offensive gameplan consistently. that has changed.
maybe they are also showing them a pirate treasure they found buried underneath JH and promising them part of the booty.
Chip Chip, while I have heard of schools using booty to recruit players, in the past I think its been a different kind of booty.
whatever it is they need to keep doing it.
pat dye always believed if you could win momma over you got 'em.
you know how they say that after a while, people start to look like their dogs?
I think it's the same with avatars.
I know it was the 2nd team d because of a lot of injured players BUT...
I really liked the play calling. Mixed it up ... kept it exciting and that is with (probably) a very small portion of the playbook installed...
I hope Joey Bag'a Doughnuts aka Agent Turtlehead avatar is really him....
WOW what a man!!
Testing... testing... is this thing on??
Chip Chip ...
I couldn't agree with you more.
I am wondering if the lack of defense in the A-Day game and the focus on the run might have been for the benefit of two high profile runningback recruits.
Tornado warnings in Birmingham, woot...
And James Spann is en fuego....
FSJ-Can you give me the scoop on the back up qb now. I know you said needed to wait unitl after the Aday game to evaluate.
I did not see that game so i am looking for your take. Does Star still have the mystique or will the others pass him by (for now)
WTC ...
Don't encourage FSJ
The defense intentionally threw the spring game to give the offense some hope and lead recruits on, I smell a conspiracy
Just curious Jet. I think FSJ will give me an honest answer.
I sat in the orange seats yesterday. Now that is how to watch a game. No sunburn, all the hotdogs, bbq, cookies, brownies and drinks you could handle. Beats the row 5 seats I have during the season.
Row 1 at Beard Eaves is much better than row 5 at JHS.
jhag-if it works, then I am applaud them. I would say they a refinally getitng this marketing thing down. Show the upside. Don't let the D hammer the O.
For thos ethat did not follow the 1st two scrimmages, the #1 D pasted the offense. Just sayin' it was a good move or the fans would have been disappointed.
Off topic-i can't believe it has been 10 years since the Columbine stuff.
I'm getting old quick.
wtc,
IMO, Darrah is ahead of Jackson, but neither are showing alot.
We are in trouble if McElroy gets hurt. That is unless A.J. is ready to go.
Star has more physical gifts than any of the ones currently down there. His problem seems to be in going through his progressions. The best comparison I can make is that he is a little like Kodi was last year.
That is not good news for you then if he can not go through the progressions. That should be taught in QB 101. I think many athletes that are qb's do that becasue they can get away with their athleticism in high schoool. However, the look off one guy and run mentality will get them hurt in college.
Thanks for the reply.
Do you think the AJ will be that much better with just a few weeks to get up to speed?
I have no idea on AJ. My hope is that the light comes on for Star enough so that they can run some sort of package for him as a change of pace at times next year. He just seemed really tentative to me yesterday. Granted he was technically "sacked" alot due to the way they were treating the QB's. I'd say 90% of those "sacks" he would have avoided in a truly live situation.
Sounds good. Now back to all things AU.
Was out of town and missed the game on CSS, but DVR'd it.
Chizik was interviewed at haltime and stated that a starting Qb will not be selected until right before the Fall season starts.
The Wrs had better fundamentals, but still need to be more athletic.
Burns played the first half with the 1st O against the 2nd/3rd D. He really didn't do much. The O scored b/c of breakaways against the inferior D. Kodi's passing fundamentals got worse as the game progressed.
Caudle started rough, but didn't have much help from the 2nd O while playing against the 1st D. He looked better as the game progressed. His 2nd half TD pass to DAdams was as good as I've seen at AU in 2 years.
We ran the ball upfield with a 2 back set out of the shotgun. The OL knocked the 2nd string D around and it looked good.
Caudle was m
Thae ADay game is streaming online at the following address it is now in the 2nd half.

Thanks Hoopie.
Playing against yourself is impossible to judge.
Does the O make plays because the D is not as good?
Is the D just as good and the O is that much better?
Are both good?
Are both bad?
Does anyone really know?
If this weather keeps up James Spann will be coming out of his suspenders soon...
I like James Spann. He publicly called out "Global Warming" as a media created phenomenon.
He also makes references to barbecue restaurants in small communities when reporting storm locations. That earns my respect... and Faker's no doubt.
No doubt ehyoutiger.
He's the best in Birmingham by far.
He amazes me with his ability to call out obscure roads, restaurants, and such in small towns. I read once that whenever he has a speaking engagement out of town he travels the backroads if possible to learn all this stuff.
Back from wedding weekend in Nashville....hope Jay doesn't have to drive in all that mess!
Did ya'll see where the Women's Golf Team won the SEC Championship?
N. Caudle 11-of-16 161 yards 2 TDs.
K. Burns 3-of-8 48 yards.
And, yet, there is still a quarterback race?
Someone, anyone, please enlighten me.
Also the Gym Dawgs win again
Sensi..
After watching the game, there is no race. As many runners as we have, we need a passer. The starter has shown himself.
ehyou,
I've heard that from many people. Just not the coaches.
If Auburn goes into the La. Tech game playing two QBs, go ahead and congratulate Derek Dooley on knocking off another SEC team in the season opener.
the starting qb has shown himself to who? should we expect to read about kodi or caudle in the paper tomorrow for indecent exposure?
i don't know much, but i didn't see a starting sec qb anywhere near auburn, al yesterday. i'll leave that one to gus to figure out.
The coaching staff obviously plays close to the vest. I wouldn't expect them to name a starter until game-time. That doesn't mean it's not obvious.
Is it also safe to expect the Mario Fannin will play a slot WR/backup RB role based on how he was used yesterday?
I assume it is because they clearly had worked on that before the game.
Chizik stated in the halftime interview that the Qb starter would be "decided" until just before the first game in the fall.
so off the cuff record prediction...I'm gonna need 9-3...that's without looking at the schedule..standby please...
Thanks, Hoopie. I hadn't heard that.
I can only hope so.
yup...9-3...here's the schedule...

Sensi..
You're spot on for the Fanin scenario first game. His role will expand as the season progresses.

wartiger, I said 6-6 or 7-5 before Saturday, and I am afraid that prediction hasn't changed. Auburn's starters are pretty good at most positions, but when the reserves come into the game, I think the difference between AU and LSU, Bama etc starts to show. I'm curious, do you think Auburn will surprise to the good, or do you see some of the other teams not being as good as expected? Not meant as an insult, just a honest question.
This is way early, WarTiger, but why not. Just based on what I've seen/read from these teams this spring:
Louisiana Tech - Win
Mississippi State - WinW
est Virginia - Loss
Ball State - Win
Tennessee - Loss/Win*
Arkansas - Loss
Kentucky - Loss
LSU - Loss
Ole Miss - Loss
Furman (HC)- Win
Georgia - Loss
Alabama - Loss
*The Tennessee game is up in the air. They are talented in so many places, but have QB issues as well. Also, Kiffin may not be able to discipline them.
7-5 is probably a more reasonable goal for this season.
Onterio is fast....and knows when to turn it on. He is small, but will be very hard to get an angle on.
Justin Albert looked a lot bigger than when in HS...and seemed to have good utility.
I looked at the wrong schedule..ooops..stand by please...
Louisiana Tech - Win
Mississippi State - WinW
West Virginia - Win
Ball State - Win
Tennessee - Loss
Arkansas - Win
Kentucky - Win
LSU - Loss
Ole Miss - Loss
Furman (HC)- Win
Georgia - Loss
Alabama -Win
8-4...and that was tough...sheesh..
Sensi, if Chizik loses to UK and Arky and goes 4-8 in his first year..... his time at Auburn will be realll short. Just my opinion.
If he isn't fired, he'll be assasinated.
great points tho sensi...you don't have that name by accident..just livin on a prayer...
Next year is going to be a complete rollercoaster ride. I can see it being very similar to Ole Miss's year last season. Beating teams we have no business beating, but playing close and losing games to teams we should. 8-4 looks about right, there aren't any sure fire juggernauts on the schedule.
Bark,
Arky is going to be a sneaky team next year. Very good QB. Good RB. Solid line and WRs and the defense should be improved. Plus, it's a home game for them and you know Fayetteville is a tough place.
And Rich Brooks has built a winner (for their standards) at Kentucky. They are in a lot better shape than Auburn is.
WVU lost the heart and soul of last years team. If AU had competent coaching last year, we could have run them out of their own house. i've read about their 5th yr sr. who has never started. he seems to have the maturity but little game experience, especially on the road. I also think they lost some of their other playmakers, but devine is still there and he is a handful.
i'm not sure what UK has in their bag next year? i keep up with vandy more than them in fb.
i can't overstate how the depth issues will affect AU in 2009. few injuries and 9-10 wins is possible. a few key injuries to OL or QB or LB 3-5 wins is likely. i think there is a better chance we could pick a perfect ncaa bball bracket than predict AU's record in 2009.
Barkley....If he goes 4-8, I hope that the AU fans don't really act like Bammers as you suggest they will.
Give the man a chance. Just b/c some other SEC schools are neurotic doesn't mean we should be also.
I think we should win either the WV game or the TN game tho dropping them both wouldn't shock me..would be sweet for CGC to be saban his first you here..could be a tall order tho...
beat saban his first year here...proof read..proof read..
I'm not arguing with ya, Sensi. Just saying, he was on a short leash the day he got hired.... If he goes 4-8 in his first year and loses some games he is supposed to win.....it could get ugly quick.
I don't know who we'll beat, or who will beat us, but the good thing about being an Auburn fan is that you can go into every game with a realistic chance to win. I remember when we were 18 point dogs to UF in the swamp a couple of years ago and we came out on top.. AUsome
Chip..I agree totally. It's all about injuries at a few critical positions.
Love your avatar ehyoutiger, but I laugh at anyone who thinks global warming is all hype. I can understand the bickering over man made/influenced versus naturally occurring/cyclical, but to say the whole thing is "media created" is comical.
I still love your School House Rock avatar. :-)
Chip,
That WVU QB who never started has played a lot in place of said heart and soul.
That team is loaded enough to beat Auburn.
Injuries are going to be a big key; you are dead on about that.
Mon..
I was just saying I respected Spann for making such a statement in his profession. Those issues are never as one-sided as the zealots would have you believe. There are naturally occurring as well as man made effects.
If we don't beat WVU this time I'm going to be shocked. Pat White is gone, they have a new, struggling QB, their spring game was a weak showing for the D and it's in Auburn.
wait..what did spann say?
not to mention..I'm still not convinced on WV coach..Bill what?
Mon,
The best things about the WVU game are:
- it's in Auburn
- it's early in the year (hopefully coming out of the first two games injury free)
it revenge time too!
If we don't smoke West Virginia, we will be in big trouble.
Revenge is poor motivation in this case.
Auburn had chances to win that game last year, but just kerplunked as the game wore on.
I still have nightmares of Noel Devine slashing the Auburn defense to shreds. Reminded me of the Fred Talley Arkansas game at Auburn.
Why so, Seanzie?
depressed,
Michael Smith gave me those feelings in the Arky game last year.
Drinkin and fish sprearin
Revenge that that game turned into a blowout...how many times did we actually get blown out last year..2 times? that was one of them...
Sensi, they had a decent team last year, not a good team, a decent team. We were on the road and had every chance to win with our trainwreck team last year. Their team will be missing their MVP, I don't care who is on the bench, that team WON'T be as good. They're coming to Auburn early. Noel Devine is a good player, but keep the ball away from him and make the new QB pass and we should win easy.
In a perfect world with ZERO major injuries:
Louisiana Tech - W 33-17
Mississippi State - W 27-20
West Virginia - W 23-21
Ball State - W 30-10
at Tennessee - L 14-19
at Arkansas - L 31-17
Kentucky - W 27-23
at LSU - L 10-20
Ole Miss - L 17-27
Furman (HC)- W 47-6
at Georgia - L 20-21
Alabama - W 19-17 somehow i got a feeling about this one at home.
if bama is playing for 3rd in sec west, they can be had at JH. AU should be ready for that one after last year and gus will pull out all the stops.i just think the rebs and corndogs have too much QB power for the rest of us. but injuries can change that balance of power as well...
Sensi, it's funny, for all the talk of the Auburn offense last year, the defense had some horrid performances as well. The poor offense surely had some effect on the D, but the tackling was horrible in several games. I never understood all of the Paul Rhoads glowing reviews.
Chip you're delusional about the UT/Arkansas game. DELUSIONAL.
i think fred talley is still running loose somewhere in lee county. let us know if there is a sighting...
Seanzie,
You've got the gameplan right, but there is very little that will come easy to this team next year. However, that produces character in the right players and will pay dividends as they mature and the younger guys mature as well. Remember, the 2004 team was also the 2002 and 2003 team. The 1993 team was the 1991 and 1992 team.
i hope you are freakin' right and i am wrong.
i just don't like our qbs on the road and arky seems to always have our number.
Depressed, couldn't agree with you more.
Hope the folks in Ames don't like to blitz.
Ever
UT can be had, they're worse off than we are. Arkansas got lucky a couple of times last year and they're doing good things but they aren't exactly world beater and Petrino isn't know for playing good defense.
trust me. UT's D is gonna be nasty. i just don't see us scoring a lot of points. unless kif already has the wheels coming off by that week.
Wow, some of you people have are optimistic. I guess that's good.
I don't trust you. They've got some talent on defense, not a lot. Their offense will keep them in bad spots. I'm not sure Ole Man River will get the same production out of his defense with lesser skilled players and I'm not convinced their defense was ever that good to begin with.
The one team in the SEC with as bad/worse QB problems than Auburn is Tennessee.
The Tennessee game should be an interesting matchup of the two new coaching staffs. If past history means anything, however, Knoxville has been a VERY difficult place for Auburn to win.
For those hotties who couldn't make it to the game and don't get CSS, here's an online replay of the a-day game courtesy of justin.tv
Last time we went to UT, we had a pretty tough time. If I remember, we were up 31-3 at the half.
once again, i hope i'm as delusional as you say in my feelings about those two games.
notice my UT score is 4 fgs and a TD. i don't expect their O to light it up. my main concern is AU's qb in that first road game. especially if it is caudle.
mrdude, thanks for the link.
Justin-Tv gives me e-crabs.
Chip, I'm not being mean, I'm mostly kidding with you.
if we take the same team back again i think we would be up 41-0 at the half.
I just think the optimistic Kool-Aid tastes better than the others.
Night, hot ones.
i know. i keep forgetting tubs is gone and hopefully we won't lay eggs anymore against beatable teams.
mrdude-Thanks for the link man!
I believe this team can do better than some think if they get some confidence early and build on it as the season goes. Of course we all know that the season rides on the shoulders of the O line and few injuries.
I think the injuries thing goes without saying, even for teams who are loaded. Look at the NFL, the wrong guy goes down and that could be it.
fortunately, there is depth at long snapper.
after watching some video..they are scrappy...or better yet..wirey..
Any motivation that works is a good motivation.
Bill Stewart
I think somebody has already made the comparison to last years ole miss team..Snead=Burns...on a prayer anyway...
Seanzie..
I just saw one of those awesome Dos Equis commercial.
"Stay thirsty my friends"
I know nobody cares about the NBA, but I'm a Hawks fan. They look great tonight. They've shown steady growth over the past 4 seasons. Home playoff games are unheard of in recent memory.
I'm a Jazz fan and they didn't look good..:(
got to go we are under a tornado warning
already had mine for tonight digger...buckle down brother...
There are so many unknowns with this team, but there are some good players as well. If enough of them get a revelation (esp. a QB) we could do some damage. I expect to see alot of true freshmen get a chance to shine.
I'm a blues fan.
I see D.Benton, E.Blake and N. Fairly playing right away.
I am very optimistic for this season. I do not see losses to UT or ARK nor Miss. (Nutt shot his wad last year.)
Global warming has been going on since the last ice age hasn't it. (just sayin it did nto start with the invention of the automobile) :)
That's completely different from saying global warming is a "media created phenomenon"
I'm home. I'm tense after driving 470 miles through what seemed like a monsoon. I'll recap the goings-on tomorrow.
'night, HOTTIES.
OK Mon, I'll bite. Mankind's massive effect on global warming is a media created phenomenon. How's that?
Sleep well JGT.
I'm just saying..
The earth is going to do its thing pretty much no matter what us petty humans are up to. It's arrogant IMO to think we have that much influence.
