Early Tuesday report
Hey everyone. Pre-practice interviews have concluded, so please allow me to pass along the information I have gleaned.
It wasn't exactly a smorgasbord of profundity.

It wasn't exactly a smorgasbord of profundity.
- S Mike Slade now is running with the first- and second-team defense with Mike McNeil out until the summer. Slade said everyone expects McNeil to be ready by two-a-days. (He suffered a compound fracture of his right fibula last weekend.)
- Slade said McNeil has been in "good spirits" since the injury. Slade and several teammates have visited McNeil at East Alabama Regional Medical Center.
- QBs Kodi Burns and Neil Caudle offered no new insights about the brewing depth-chart situation. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn said he's prepared to cut the list of prime quarterback candidates to two. When will he do that? Nobody knows. It could be today. Maybe we'll learn tonight. Or maybe not.
- OL Ryan Pugh said he's working exclusively at center this spring. He no longer is shuttling between center and tackle. He said that's a relief. I think it's a relief to Auburn fans as well. One thing to watch: Pugh's official understudy is walk-on Andrew Parmer.
- __ Mario Fannin, asked directly which position he plays, couldn't generate a solid answer Tuesday. He finally settled on "H back," but acknowledged that it doesn't mean anything. Fannin spends most of his time at inside receiver, but lately has been moonlighting at tailback.

HA!! No drops!!
my first day back from my vacation and I get numeral uno!! YEA ME!! just stopping by to let the hotties know I was back...safe and sound...
my Sammy sense told me there was a new thread. Here I am.
in other words, we know nothing more than we did 10 minutes ago.
i know this has to be frustrating jgt...
Let's talk about Turkey legs. In my family, the oldest male at the table gets first dibs on the turkey leg.
Where would big-snack play?
What was spring practice like on the HABOTN last year?
60% of the time, it works every time
I forgot to send in my check to pay my state taxes that I owe.... is it too late to do that? As long as it is postmarked by tomorrow it is fine... right??
Postmarked by the 15th and you are in the clear, DMiller.
Berry is a guard, I believe.
Sam,
It was glorious.
Has anyone ever used www.officialpayments.com to pay their taxes?
I just write what I get, peeps.
Welcome back, wartiger.
Sounds like an official scam. Now, who likes one legged turkeys?
Go Braves!
I've never seen a brave Turkey. It might look brave when they try and kill you, but that's really just fear. Ask Harrison what he would do in a room full of One-Legged Turkeys. I suspect it would be similar to the way the turkeys act.
Hey i deep fried a big choclolate easter bunny on easter, pics to come....
Glorious, how? There was no puppet hour, most of these people were still on al.com (and by the number of links and quotes from other sites, I think a lot still are-buncha blog junkies). I can't imagine Jay G's repoting acumen has dropped. Are you giving the blog that Halo based on the availability of info and the optimism surrounding the magical offense of Tony Franklin?
The Gridiron Breakdown is live tonight at 7 pm CDT. We are talking a lot of Auburn.
Join in the fun.
sam, since turkey's do not eat humans. I imagine a room full of one legged turkeys would be hilarious and delicious
back in the day, a 1 legged turkey was something to be feared. now, with the proliferation of automatic weapons, they can , if not eliminated, be hampered in their quest for world domination. just sent off $7,000 for taxes. having several beers, now.
Harrison, have you ever been in a room with scared one-legged turkeys? Me neither, but I imagine that I would rather face a bear in the woods.

These are just two of the thousands of dangerous turkey stories on the internet.
Beer sales are up this year.
come to korea... you do not pay taxes...
then again you have nothing..
D.Miller
we efile now. but when we mailed it, we always paid an extra buck or so for delivery confirmation or some sort of verification we mailed it, I don't remember exactly. One year it paid off as the IRS tried to fine us for late payment of our taxes. We showed those IRS a$$e$ our receipt and the IRS replied, "oops, that's the first mistake we've ever made."
last year, az applied my tax payment to estimated taxes for this year. took several hours over several weeks to convince them not to seize my freakin' house as i had paid my taxes and they had misapplied my payment. and so it goes....
I'm tired of the wave. Can we start a stadium chant this year? Maybe...Big Snacks! Big Snacks! Big Snacks!
might i suggest a big hallelujah chant, complete with the waving of arms, when we rush off right guard for 4 yards?
oh, welcome back mr. war tiger.
compound fracture and back for two-a-days? No freaking way.... There has to be a happy medium between the diarrhea (spelling?) of the mouth interviews from last spring and the duct-tape ones from the current season. I'm back peeps but only for a brief post....I have two kids now and it is awfully hard to type with one hand. I still read everyday and appreciate the hard work as always Jay G, and will definitely be sporting the HABOTN tee at a-day.
LUV - if you're still interested... Connie Frederick's great run is at, ironically, the 4:20 mark (everyone take a hit) of this AWESOME AUBURN highlight video.
It was late in 4th qtr, he was a sr who had never scored against UA-T. AU was up 42-20 at the time. He ran the entire length of the field. No one in the huddle knew he was going to run. Final score was 49-26. WAR EAGLE!!!
Connie also had the greatest punt play ever for Auburn in the 1968 SUn Bowl vs Arizona. He kicked it twice. The first was blocked. He chased it down near the goal line, batted it away from an AZ player, picked it up, dodged an AZ player and kicked it out near midfield.
obviously, a bit of hyperbole. It's hard to call it Auburn's greatest punt when it got blocked the first time. Of course, using that analogy, I know when UA-T's greatest two punt plays were!!!
Thanks to Jay G. for appearing on the show.
The Gridiron Breakdown and HABOTN are friends.
YAH!
Why the frustration? Everything is just opinion based on point of view. The qb's don't even know who is the 1, how would we know either just by seeing them practice. I know it's like crack, but everything will be ok. Practice was closed last year too.
So, there I was...standing next to Peyton and Eli Manning in the Nassau Airport...and the only thing I could say was...You ever seen a grown man naked?
Ditto what EZ said.
Miller - Can't you do that echeck sort of thing? Where the payment is withdrawn from you account? Or just write the check and have it postmarked tomorrow.
Estimated attendance at A-Day?
Awwwwwwwwwww MonD...You gave me a ditto, we should mold pottery together. You know the rest:^)
Hag. Fitty G's.
I would be suprised
Me too, but I know several people coming down that haven't for a while, maybe Sticks'll help. Dunno.
*shucks*
If you don't like what JGT has to report, why are you here? I, for one, love JGT's nuggets.
Uh, maybe that came out wrong.
ehyoutiger are you and Awk pals?
Speaking of naked men didn't Peyton moon some girl in the locker room at UT?
ehyou - I can't get over you liking Jay G.'s nuggets. I'm sorry.
"I want these m(*U#^#W@!g snakes off the m(*U#^#W@!g plane!
Jay, if your here, any info on Andre Wadley? He's the defensive end that had the heat related issues. He must have come close to death. I get the feeling he may never be able to play. any news?
jhag. I guess 36000. Isn't it always around that number. How many at the country music festival?
Someone stated that the press wasn't allowed in practice last season and asked how was the HABOTN during last Spring.
Go to 3-1-08 and take a look at JGT's "copious notes" taken from the first scrimmage of last spring. This is an example of what we are missing this season due to the closed practices. I also noticed a few familiar voices providing comments.
It is double-edged for me...I believe in closed practices, yet love to have the quality practice reports that Jay can put out.
Howdy Hoop. Yes, missing good info here too. Talked to some H.S. coaches that were at the coaching clinic last week though. Didn't get a huge number of positive comments regarding our talent or depth. Did get a lot of very positive comments on the coaches.
I couldn't listen to Gridiron Breakdown because the computer kept saying I had a runtime error. does anyone know how to fix that?
Side Note: Michael, I called my local cable company and they knocked $20/month off my bill for 6 months. it is a start. i will still look at the dish thing.
I spoke with a high school coach that has been to the clinic at each school and he says w/o a doubt the talent level is very different between the two. 'AU does not have a lot of talent on either side of the ball. They have some talent, but not a lot. UA has a lot of talent on both sides but especially on defense.'
Those were his words to me. I do not doubt him.
Anybody know about how long a-day practice will last. 2 hours, 3 hours?
HABOTN history is fun. Gotta love the comments when it was just people like Phred and Crudup. Much higher quality than Sam and Harrison and Monica. There was less posting by Jay G, though, so it's worth it now. Plus, who doesn't like fun?
Why did the blog go off blogger for two months last summer?
Sponge....we've got enough defensive talent to be good. Our offensive talent was thin at the beginning of Spring and by now 4 or 5 folks seem to wilting away(Mckensie, Billings, Coulahan, et all). I'm not hearing much regarding the backup OL players stepping up. A couple of key OL injuries and the offense will be paralyzed.
WTC, buying, err recruiting a top class for a couple of years will do that for ya.
I'm just sayin'.
Just checked out the 3-3-08 post archive. A perfect example of what a waste of time Qb discussions can be....and hilarious in retrospect.
Faker:
bought the iphone this weekend. dropped a call while out of town today and it chapped me. that never happened with Alltel. Going out of town next week to another area of the state. if it happens again, I will be moving to the blackberry with verizon.
Thanks for everyones input.
Sam....the HABOTN was a small community back then and the small size had it's associated good and bad points.
The HABOTN today is more personal( partly due to facebook), multi-dimensional and has something for everyone.
I enjoy the daytime comedy show and many times only have time to read the posts and go back to work.
Whatever happened to Raven Gray?
Oh Lord, I just became a relic.
I think Harrison and Monica are hilarious, for the record.
harrison and michael are the funniest on here. jet is a close third (at times)
I noticed Peyton and Eli's wifeys before I noticed them. Jesus Hoobastank Christ they were smoking hot, so hot that some old man next to me started crying.
I was in the Bahamas on vacation...
