Chizik's contract
Hey everyone. We knew Gene Chizik was making $1.9 million as Auburn's coach, but now we have proof of that agreement.
NOTE: A proper contract, outlining Chizik's performance bonuses and other professional expectations, should be finalized before Media Days in late July.

Ahhhh, new page.
Sean's reasoning is convincing. From now on, I will assume Carl is actually Sensi.
New page smell...nice
Go daddy!
Sean is mistaken.
Time to check the eyes.
I was working with a student with horrid grades and wrong major choice when this all went down. My first knowledge of it was from Ed.
Que sara sara.
Another boring day in May.
Well, if this is confession time. I have one.
I am Mr. United.
Thanks Mon. I do try to stay on the good side of the principal.
Is he on the air? I missed John Longshore this a.m. and haven't turned to Roundtable yet.
Jet doesn't because he actually enjoys the spankings.
Michael,
When did Tim become Carl?
I didn't have it on, Sensi.
I do know. I think they are talking something else. $ and the SEC...it's hard to tell
know=now
What's the topic? I missed it.
If we are making confessions, then I have one to add to the list. I don't just hate bama, I hate.....Georgia. There you have it. I'm guilty of hating multiple schools.
Bammer trolls have always been Carl. We just haven't had one since last October or so, and we only had like one, so it didn't quite catch on like Tim.
Tim = anonymous (RIP) non troll poster
"teeter totter"
What do JGT and Les Miles have in common?
Unpaid furloughs.
a multiple hater? Not just everyone can do that ya know.
Eddie, you aren't ugahater from AUC are you?
What ABOUT the tv contracts? Have you figured it out yet, Sensi?
Les Miles makes more in a week than I have or will ever make in a year.
Depressing...
Something about how much $$$ is rolling in to the SEC and that translates to domination.
Sounds like Bammer math to me.
THERE WILL BE (MORE) BLOOD -- CHAPTER 2
As the sun starts to set in early May, two ladies are walking down the hill toward my house. I am watering the tree I had planted the day before.
"Hey there. Welcome to the neighborhood! I am ----."
Chit chat. Chit chat.
They start to walk again, and they notice something peculiar in the road.
"This looks like blood."
Bo Jackson takes over my speech pattern.
"I---I---uh --- I ..."
"What happened?"
"You see, there was this dog ... uh ..."
"Did he get hit by a car?"
"Not exactly ...
"What do you mean ...not exactly?"
I'm getting double teamed, and not in a good way. The welcome wagon has turned into the SWAT team.
I try to stammer my way through this, and I haven't figured out a way to explain.
"You see, there was this dog ..."
"You've said that already, now what happened?"
All of sudden, the door next flies open.
"GOOD EVENING, LADIES," as my neighbor, who had only one volume setting, which was EAR-SPLITTING, boomed out.
"Ladies, the dog was a menace, and I shot him. Yes, I did."
I don't know which was more horrifying -- the two women's shrieks or the looks of utter horror on their face. They kept looking back and forth at him and me.
I guess I would be classified as an accessory after the fact, but in their eyes I might as well have pulled the trigger.
My neighbor took a dosage of their berating, then announced he'd had enough.
HOLY CRAP, I think. The last time he had enough, he stuck a .22 rifle between their eyes and pulled the trigger. Oh, no. Don't kill these women. We just moved in. We're expecting a baby.
"I'm not going to talk with you anymore about it, but if you want to send your husbands down here, we'll be glad to discuss it further."
WE!?!?!?!
What the heck are you talking about "WE?!?!" I'm thinking, "I didn't ask you to kill the dog, and now you're either gonna get my @$$ kicked, or you're gonna shoot two people ... or four.
The women stormed off. Thankfully, they realized that he was not a man to be trifled with, and their husbands opted to stay home and watch baseball.
A great, if not unusual, neighbor for 13 years.
I respect a fellow that doesn't tip-toe around the difficult truth.
awesome Jet! Just remind me not to tell you any of my secrets.
Awesome story, Jetster. I particularly like the "Yes, I did." confirmation after he acknowledged the deed.
That's the kind of neighbor I'd like to have as the Dark Times approach. Unfortunately our neighborhood is made up primarily of elderly couples, middle-aged single women, and vacant houses.
Jet - you never did properly thank me as I recall.
HA! That was awesome, Jet.
Your neighbor sounds like he was your self appointed guardian angel/unwanted enforcer. Crazy.
The first time I met the guy, he helped me unload my truck to move in.
A caller just called Doug "rude." How funny.
How many years does D. Benton have left to play?
I saw this posted on AUC but didn't see a good answer.
BTW, about the 'written agreement' (he remarked, quietly trying to get back to the topic of original post). . .
I noticed that most of the state's media outlets have misreported the size of the buyout clause. It appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $1 million or so over the length of the deal. The reports I've seen have implied that it's Chizik's full $1.9 million salary X years remaining, when the language in the written agreement indicates that its only the 'base' salary (which is historically around $200k) X years remaining.
That, and the report that Chizik is no longer represented by Jimmy Sexton, gives me reason for optimism - at least on the financial front.
Unload your stuff? Wow, he really was crazy.
all of you Phil Mickelson fans check this out.
http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/news?slug=ap-mickelsonswife&prov=ap&type=lgns
He may be out of the US Open
I ain't smart enough to link it
Sad news for Phil M. and the Mrs. Hope things go well.
harrison...
My gosh, that's awful news. She is now on the HABOTN prayer list.
THERE WILL BE (MORE) BLOOD is actually my second favorite story related to hijinks in the old 'hood.
But I can't use all my good material in one day.
Speaking of which, has anyone heard how Ms. Digger is doing?
Jet, just make sure I catch your other story, especially if it's better than that. write me a letter if you have to
Sensi- Sorry, was away from my computer. I am not ugahator on Auburn Undercover, but I already like that guy. Living in this state, you grow to hate Georgia just a little bit more than those of you that live in Alabama.
Definitely a sad story for Phil Mickelson. Hopefully his wife can fight thru it and win.
I can't say it's better, Harrison, but there are parts that cause family members to howl in laughter at me and my reaction to certain events when this is recalled.
Jet has quite a colorful past. I'm just sayin'.
Sensi - Benton has all 4 years of eligibility.
However, he will hit the three years removed from high school point after this season, so if he is awesome he could theoretically go pro pretty much immediately.
Thanks, MichaelJT.
Let's hope he is awesome but wants to hang around to dominate.
Can Benton be the next Frank Sanders?
I miss that guy. Big, physical, great hands.
Benton will certainly get a chance to play come fall practices. I hope he is as good as advertised, but he hasn't played football in awhile. I imagine there is a lot of rust there, but nothing that can't be polished off. Just look at one Rodney Daniel's.
Sensi, the Nix-to-Sanders play in the '93 Bama game will be forever etched in my memory. And the call from Jim Fyffe.
"Oooo. and he caught it! Sanders is in!
TOUCHDOWN AUUUUUUUUBURN!"
Classic.
Back to the grindstone for me.
Later.
yeah Ronney Daniels comes to mind when I tak about Benton. Also I saw Ronney Daniels play Arena League in HUntsville.
I always thought Rodney Daniels would make it in the NFL. Guess I was wrong.
Sanders wasn't too shabby in '94 in Gainesville.
Sensi, auburnsports.com said Benton had 5 years to play 4.
oops, sorry MJT. i hadn't refreshed. you beat me. congrats.
Well all, I'm out of here for awhile. I'm off running errands and then to the Braves game tonight. Should be fun.
have fun Eddie. give Huddy a big 'war eagle' from all of us.
ehyou, that UF game was one of my all-time favorites. Another great memory with the late, great Jim Fyffe on the call. The AU moments are still great, but they'll never be as special without JF on the radio. It's amazing what an announcer can add to the feel of a football game.
my dad never really watched much football with me growing up but the '94 UF game was one i remember we got to share together. good times.
hey hotties..just got back from the job fair..that place was a mad house. I guess I should not have been surprised at all the people given the state of employment in this country but these people were nuts. It was a little disheartening to see so many people and I really got a reality check that this job hunt isn't gonna be easy. All in all it went well though so we shall see what happens next..thanks once again for y'alls advice and well wishes. I do appreciate it...WAR EAGLE!!
sooooooooooo........
tie, or no tie?
It's amazing how much success Auburn has had against UF when they've been (relatively) on top of the football world. Without a doubt some of the best football games I've ever seen.
Ehyou ...
I was there the worst one of all, though. The 1986 game where we led 17-0 in the fourth quarter and lost 18-17.
scottie- tie..it was a good thing too..there where plp wearing things from all out suits to shorts and a t-shirt but I looked good if I do say so myself..didn't get a picture but I gotta feeling I'll be wearing that again..
You can always adjust downward. If you wear a t-shirt, jeans or shorts, or worse, jorts, you can't help it. You're done.
Michael...where did you get Carl from?
8 down, 8 to go
good work wartiger. wise choice. Brotha Jet is right. you can always take off a coat & tie if you're over-dressed.
Sean...
From reading his 12:12 post, it sounds like there was a troller named Carl from last year and the name has become generic for such.
Carl is a good name. Back into the meeting room.
You can also remover your pants whenever you feel it's necessary
Eddie..gotta disagree with you comparing UGA to Bammers. UGA has a much lower arrogance and cousin humper factor.
"You're so right Carl."
thanks for the tip Harrison..I'll remember that next time...might save it for an actual interview come to think of it...
WarTiger,
Shoot me a resume when you get a chance. I may be able to point you in a direction or two.
Harrison that made me laugh out loud.
As resident HABOTN historian, I have found the origin of "Carl"
http://jaygtate.blogspot.com/2008/11/early-monday-business.html
It was actually SteveFC's idea.
I, too, live in UGA country. The main parallel I see is that every mouth-breather in the state that has never sniffed a college classroom pulls for UGA. UAT gets all of the same type of fan in Alabama (thank goodness).
Michael,
Nice work.
Jet, I think you are like me in remembering the losses. Sometimes those stick with me longer than the wins. I watched that AU-UF game on closed-circuit in Beard-Eaves. UF was on probation, so couldn't be on TV. Kerwin Bell brought them back on one good leg. I was so p.o.'d. One of my friends was almost in tears after the game. I can still remember walking up Donahue and him saying, "Auburn is never gonna win the national championship." That pissed me off even more. Good thing I couldn't see 2004 at that point, or I might have believed him.
Chocolate - I was there too. Did you see me?
Losses do stick with you. The one most recently seared in my brain is the "Les Miles is an idiot but beat us anyway" game from '07.
Whatch ya'll think about these police whooping up on that dude in Birmingham?
Norm, I'm sure I did. Were you the one with your head down, cursing under your breath, and shuffling your way back to your AU abode to do some heavy drinking?
i saw that video. It was nowhere near a Rodney King level beating, but beating an already badly injured, unconscious guy is going to get them in trouble.
i honestly don't think they should be fired or anything
Maybe some creative punishment, like they have to provide all coffee supplies at the precinct for two months.
Yep. That was me. I'm a much better looking fellow now.
Hey look at me! Just realized I am the front page quote. Take that, Ruxpin!
T. Ruxpin is spinning in his shallowly dug grave
Michael, congrats on being front page material!

This song has been stuck in my head all day. It'll make me fell better if it's stuck in yours too.
The keyboard cat song is in my head.
Please, enlighten me.
I found this pic, but not any audio....yet.
coarse language:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqAypbgaUKM
Well...I'm back. How about this for stupidity. I got the Braves tickets last Friday and told they were for tonight. Never checked the tickets till I got home today and to my wonderful surprise, it was to last night's game. Talk about dumb luck. That is so out of character for me. Oh well. That just plain sucks and last night would have been a great game to go to.
keyboard cat without the bad language:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pic3nkBcQBI
I'm sure this isn't the original, but it sure is funny.
Good luck tracking down the "original" Pretty much every popular youtube clip has been turned into a keyboard cat piece.
michael...
I am indebted to you. You have introduced me to the world of the keyboard cat.
another good one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp6U_5qEE0Y
eddie...
That really sux.
Funny Eddie. I showed up to court on the wrong day for a speeding ticket once. I got laughed at
I also booked my friend's bachelor party in Memphis/Tunica for his wedding weekend instead of the correct weekend. So i showed up in tUnica with no rooms. We ended up getting lucky and getting rooms anyway
I accidentally married an otter instead of my fiancee on my wedding day. Boy, was that a crazy mix-up.
which one has bigger whiskers?
BURN!!
The otter. ICE WATER!
Luckily I got the thing annulled on the human side, but as far as the local otter government is concerned, I am still Mr Michael Otterschmidt (male otters take the female's last name).
Otter governments are the worst. Plus they all look the same
For those of you asking about Digger's Wife:
Mrs. Digger is on a ventilator in CCU. Digger said, "...the next few days is crutial to her recovery. And after that we have a long road back if all turns out well."
I know I don't have to ask you to keep Digger and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Prayers for Digger and Mrs. Digger.
Mon...
I was one that inquired. Thanks for the update. We will indeed continue to keep her (and he) in our thoughts & prayers.
Prayers for Mr. and Mrs. Digger.
I see where Gabe McKenzie is back with the team.
That is good news for AU.
Prayers sent for Mr. & Mrs. Digger.
Wow, this writing thing takes time. Big ups to Jay G and all that do this on a full time basis.
eddie...
Looks like you missed an outstanding game tonight. Congrats.
wtc...
Where does McKenzie play? I would assume offense and TE. Doesn't the TE pos typically block in Gus's offense?
Thanks ehyou for reminding me. I sure would have enjoyed the 9 runs in the 4th inning. Oh well. Live and learn. I still cannot believe that I let that happen.
When I get home I better check my hockey tickets and make sure I'm not supposed to be in Pittsburgh tomorrow nigh ;-). We have game 3 tix for Raleigh on Saturday.

14 down, about 2.5 to go
Thank goodness. American Idol is finally over. I can watch TV with my family again.
American Idol proved it. American still favors good haircuts.
last year he played some DE didn't he. Wasn't he the one that intercepted the pass on the LSU QB and ran it back for a TD, or was that the other guy that was moved from TE to DE?
That was McKenzie wtc. It put us up 14-3 going into half time and seemingly in control. Then their back up QB went nuts in the second half.
Jet - The dragging poodle story is the best story yet. I laughed so hard Greg came in here to check on me. I was HOWLING.
I swear I will buy your first book.
Didn't realize that the Mrs. Digger sit was that serious. Both are in my prayers.
Steve....based on the results each season, it seems that a lot of early teen females vote.
I've been so busy today that I've had a hard time hatin' bama. But in about 15 minutes I'm going to SKEEDADDLE and I promise I'll hate bama all the way home and in my dreams.
Monica ... I will post for general consumption tomorrow. I think we bonded that night. She's my besy buddy now.
Lebron is good
Article in Anniston Star says montez billing graduated May 9th. I thought he was having academic trouble? Trooper says, two weeks ago, that he toldBillings he liked him but it was not fair to the team to practice him if he wasn't going to be available. Today Chizik says it looks like they worked out the problem. (I hope so, he did graduate last weekend). This is just odd.
Sorry I gave credit to the wrong paper.
http://www.timesdaily.com/article/20090520/ARTICLES/905205036/1164/SPORTS?Title=Billings-status-still-uncertain
So if I mention food or 80's music or movies, will someone else post?
not for over an hour.
Good morning Hotties! Time to rise and ahine! Wake up lovin' Auburn and hatin' bama and you'll have a great day!
Good morning, Hotties! One more after today!
I did not realize that Mrs. Digger was in critical condition either. My prayers go out to Mrs. Digger and Digger and their family.
^^
I agree.. except for the ahining part. Either shine, or whine.
Xaff- I don't have to go to work today, so I'm shining, not whining!
I love not having to turn my ipod alarm off and go to work. Lots of great tunes gets the day off to a great start. Breakfast is done, paper read. I think I'll mow the yard... NOT! MrsTHT did that last night while I was at work. I love that woman.
Luv - You undoubtedly have the greatest appreciation of Fridays of anyone I've known. I hereby dub thee Queen Friday Luv.
Morning Hotties - a fine Thursday morning to you. Go do that voodoo that you do so well.
Eddie - I had a similar occurence involving some friends coming up to stay with us and attend a concert at the new Verizon Amphitheater. It turns out the friends arrived a week early. I really couldn't believe my luck with the available parking which is what prompted me to check the tickets. Fortunately for me, I wasn't really inconvenienced since the place is only about 7 miles from my house. My buddy sold his tickets to another buddy of ours so all worked out well in the end.
TarHeel, I love Fridays because I'm lazy and don't like to work!
Norm & Eddie -
Dr. Habotn says take two OCD tablets with a full glass of water and you'll never have those ticket mix-ups again.
THT loves Saturdays (most of them, anyway) because he's even lazier and doesn't want to have to work on Friday just to get to Saturday.
I'm lazy and I don't like to work...I'm a fan of Fridays...Thursdays are like tease Fridays...not a fan of them so much.
Mondays are great because you can look forward to the next weekend. Weekends are not so good because they distract you from looking forward to the next one.
Norm & Eddie - DRUG WARNING LABEL -just be sure you take the OCD tablets and not the BCP tablets.
Damn Dr. Habotn, I think I overdosed. What a great night for baseball last night and I got to see it on my very on couch. The people that know me well are getting a kick out of that since I am so anal on planning and coordinating everything. I just cannot believe I didn't check the tickets. Oh well. Guess I will just get some more later in the year.
Any IT folks in the house. I just bought a domain and email service thru godaddy.com and I'm having trouble getting the email setup. Need some help.
no more bloghogging for me. I'm off to run a few errands and then go read early 19th century newspapers at the library. I'm looking for map advertisements/announcements. Yes, I'm very weird, but tell me that doesn't sound better than yard work!
I had a godaddy domain for a year or two that I never used. I now have one through 1and1 which I also don't use but hope to eventually. I have vague recollection that godaddy was not perceived in the best of light by other ISPs, i.e. mail from godaddy servers had a high likelihood of being categorized as spam. That was about 6 years ago, though.
As to your current email problem, I'm useless and have just wasted your time. Sorry.
Godaddy got me at hello. Thank you superbowl ads :). Actually, our work email is thru godaddy and we have had no problems. I think im going to have to spend some more money and buy the SSL. FUN FUN FUN.
Morning Hotties.
This is such a happy place for me I don't want to burden you with my bump in the road. Mrs. digger is holding her own, no real improvement but she is a fighter.
Thanks Monica for letting everyone know.
We really appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts.
Got to run catch you when I can.
All the best to you Digger.
You're in my prayers, Digger.
Digger, you and Mrs. Digger are in our prayers. Is there anything more we can do for you?
Please enlighten me:
How does Billings have academic issues if he graduated earlier this month?
ehyou, good point, how does a graduate face academic issues?
Will be praying for you and your wife Digger. Do you know any Clayton's in Rainbow City?
How is a bee allergic to honey?
Michael, the same way a cow can be lactose intolerant.
How can a graduate have academic problems? Thinks the alphabet has 24 letters. Doesn't care enough about X and O.
Jet needs to write a book. I will buy one.
Jet, I guess that means the poor guy is pretty bad at tic-tac-toe, also.
michael, you have some competition in the wit department with Seanzie.
And he can't express hugs and kisses to loved ones, either.
In case any of you are curious, it costs $11,667+ to charter a Turbo-Prop plane from Detroit Metro to Sacramento Metro. Obviously, the $ goes up if you get a different type plane. But, you'll get there quicker.
So, there you have it. I hope that helps you with your future travel plans.
I'm sure Jet would cut us a deal.
Good Friday eve morning, Hotties!
Trying out my new avatar.
Prayers for you and the lady, Digger.
THT. I am amazed at how you can operate on such little sleep.
I love Thursdays. It's Friday's foreplay.
I keep trying to get Jet to write a book.
Thursday is Friday's foreplay? Is that why it always feels like Thursday lasts too long?
Mon, does that mean you're going to try to make us cuddle on Sat?
By that theory, I believe that makes Thursday completely unnecessary from my perspective. The wife however may actually be right fond of Thursdays.
What's the deal with recent signee Brandon Jacobs considering playing MLB? Is this a possibility?
It seems weird that the other guy, Gulley I think, is thinking about trying out for the baseball team in addition to FB. It sounds like the baseball team might want to talk with Jacobs as well.
I apologize for interrupting the foreplay chat.
There is absolutely no cuddling on game days!
Jacobs wants a paycheck.
Michael- Is that also why Friday is over so quickly?
Pork Chop, are you in the band or just a fan of?
For a minute there, it looked like Pork Chop Willed the thread.
Yeah, this thread is getting stale. Holds too many bad memories for me.
Sensi-I sent my resume to what I had saved as your email...just let me know if you got it or not?
Maybe I am Pork Chop, or better yet, maybe he is me!
No cuddling on Saturdays = good idea
Just don't mess with my half time show.
Elaborate on Half Time Show...

I got it, wartiger. I am working on it now.
Eddie, even though you didn't get a chance to go last night, did you enjoy the beatdown?
Sean- I enjoyed it, but it was very bitter-sweet for me, especially the bottom of the 4th.
Why do ya'll think Les Miles takes the criticism? He's been a winner at LSU in spite of his oafishness.
Because he just gets lucky and I think everyone knows this.
And something about his ten gallon hat rubs people the wrong way, I think.
Les Miles lost some coaching credibility with me after blowing that 21 point first half lead to TN..that was bad coaching...that being said he did win a national championship and regardless if it was Satans players or not you must be doing something right to do that. So I don't really have anything against Miles. I don't think he will be the coach as LSU for very much longer. Fans in the SEC are a fickle bunch and he had a sub-par year last year..one more of those and they'll be remembering the TN game and forgetting that national championship...
Well let's see. Re: NTL Championship, I mean that team lost two games. Under most cirucmstances you don't go to the Ntl Championship game with 2 losses. He won fluky games against UF and AU at home. He was lucky to run into an overmatched tOSU team. I feel like he used up all his luck for one year. Last year he lost 5 games and probably could have lost more.
I do agree with Bobby Johnson being ranked in the top half. He does more with less.
This thread needs a shower. Been wearing the same clothes for three days.
Bobby Johnson is a good coach, it's remarkable that anyone can win at Vanderbilt. He took them to their first bowl game and won. It will be interesting to see what he can do now that they've climbed out of the basement.
Sensi, a couple of more posts and we can at least turn it one more time and freshen it up.
good idea
let's push this mutha out
flip it over
