Chizik's contract

Hey everyone. We knew Gene Chizik was making $1.9 million as Auburn's coach, but now we have proof of that agreement.

NOTE: A proper contract, outlining Chizik's performance bonuses and other professional expectations, should be finalized before Media Days in late July.

THERE WILL BE (MORE) BLOOD -- CHAPTER 2

As the sun starts to set in early May, two ladies are walking down the hill toward my house. I am watering the tree I had planted the day before.

"Hey there. Welcome to the neighborhood! I am ----."

Chit chat. Chit chat.

They start to walk again, and they notice something peculiar in the road.

"This looks like blood."

Bo Jackson takes over my speech pattern.

"I---I---uh --- I ..."

"What happened?"

"You see, there was this dog ... uh ..."

"Did he get hit by a car?"

"Not exactly ...

"What do you mean ...not exactly?"

I'm getting double teamed, and not in a good way. The welcome wagon has turned into the SWAT team.

I try to stammer my way through this, and I haven't figured out a way to explain.

"You see, there was this dog ..."

"You've said that already, now what happened?"

All of sudden, the door next flies open.

"GOOD EVENING, LADIES," as my neighbor, who had only one volume setting, which was EAR-SPLITTING, boomed out.

"Ladies, the dog was a menace, and I shot him. Yes, I did."

I don't know which was more horrifying -- the two women's shrieks or the looks of utter horror on their face. They kept looking back and forth at him and me.

I guess I would be classified as an accessory after the fact, but in their eyes I might as well have pulled the trigger.

My neighbor took a dosage of their berating, then announced he'd had enough.

HOLY CRAP, I think. The last time he had enough, he stuck a .22 rifle between their eyes and pulled the trigger. Oh, no. Don't kill these women. We just moved in. We're expecting a baby.

"I'm not going to talk with you anymore about it, but if you want to send your husbands down here, we'll be glad to discuss it further."

WE!?!?!?!

What the heck are you talking about "WE?!?!" I'm thinking, "I didn't ask you to kill the dog, and now you're either gonna get my @$$ kicked, or you're gonna shoot two people ... or four.

The women stormed off. Thankfully, they realized that he was not a man to be trifled with, and their husbands opted to stay home and watch baseball.

A great, if not unusual, neighbor for 13 years.

12:28 PM
Blogger Fearless Freep said...

BTW, about the 'written agreement' (he remarked, quietly trying to get back to the topic of original post). . .

I noticed that most of the state's media outlets have misreported the size of the buyout clause. It appears to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $1 million or so over the length of the deal. The reports I've seen have implied that it's Chizik's full $1.9 million salary X years remaining, when the language in the written agreement indicates that its only the 'base' salary (which is historically around $200k) X years remaining.

That, and the report that Chizik is no longer represented by Jimmy Sexton, gives me reason for optimism - at least on the financial front.

Jet, I think you are like me in remembering the losses. Sometimes those stick with me longer than the wins. I watched that AU-UF game on closed-circuit in Beard-Eaves. UF was on probation, so couldn't be on TV. Kerwin Bell brought them back on one good leg. I was so p.o.'d. One of my friends was almost in tears after the game. I can still remember walking up Donahue and him saying, "Auburn is never gonna win the national championship." That pissed me off even more. Good thing I couldn't see 2004 at that point, or I might have believed him.

I had a godaddy domain for a year or two that I never used. I now have one through 1and1 which I also don't use but hope to eventually. I have vague recollection that godaddy was not perceived in the best of light by other ISPs, i.e. mail from godaddy servers had a high likelihood of being categorized as spam. That was about 6 years ago, though.
As to your current email problem, I'm useless and have just wasted your time. Sorry.

Morning Hotties.
This is such a happy place for me I don't want to burden you with my bump in the road. Mrs. digger is holding her own, no real improvement but she is a fighter.
Thanks Monica for letting everyone know.
We really appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts.
Got to run catch you when I can.

In case any of you are curious, it costs $11,667+ to charter a Turbo-Prop plane from Detroit Metro to Sacramento Metro. Obviously, the $ goes up if you get a different type plane. But, you'll get there quicker.

So, there you have it. I hope that helps you with your future travel plans.

Thursday is Friday's foreplay? Is that why it always feels like Thursday lasts too long?

10:18 AM
Blogger Will said...

Mon, does that mean you're going to try to make us cuddle on Sat?

10:25 AM
Blogger Norm said...

By that theory, I believe that makes Thursday completely unnecessary from my perspective. The wife however may actually be right fond of Thursdays.

What's the deal with recent signee Brandon Jacobs considering playing MLB? Is this a possibility?

It seems weird that the other guy, Gulley I think, is thinking about trying out for the baseball team in addition to FB. It sounds like the baseball team might want to talk with Jacobs as well.

I apologize for interrupting the foreplay chat.

Why do ya'll think Les Miles takes the criticism? He's been a winner at LSU in spite of his oafishness.

12:24 PM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Because he just gets lucky and I think everyone knows this.

12:25 PM
Blogger Seanzie said...

And something about his ten gallon hat rubs people the wrong way, I think.

12:27 PM
Blogger wartiger said...

Les Miles lost some coaching credibility with me after blowing that 21 point first half lead to TN..that was bad coaching...that being said he did win a national championship and regardless if it was Satans players or not you must be doing something right to do that. So I don't really have anything against Miles. I don't think he will be the coach as LSU for very much longer. Fans in the SEC are a fickle bunch and he had a sub-par year last year..one more of those and they'll be remembering the TN game and forgetting that national championship...

12:30 PM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Well let's see. Re: NTL Championship, I mean that team lost two games. Under most cirucmstances you don't go to the Ntl Championship game with 2 losses. He won fluky games against UF and AU at home. He was lucky to run into an overmatched tOSU team. I feel like he used up all his luck for one year. Last year he lost 5 games and probably could have lost more.

Bobby Johnson is a good coach, it's remarkable that anyone can win at Vanderbilt. He took them to their first bowl game and won. It will be interesting to see what he can do now that they've climbed out of the basement.
